15 Films Advance in the Best Documentary Oscar Race

15 films have moved forward in the Documentary Feature category of the 88th Academy Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of the 15 documentary films that are still in the running for 2016 Oscar nominations. Among the documentaries moving forward are a film about Scientology, a documentary focusing on Amy Winehouse, and a film about rapes on college campuses.

According to the Academy, the Documentary Branch narrowed the field to these 15 films during preliminary voting. Five of the films will earn nominations.

Nominees will be announced on January 14, 2016. The 88th Academy Awards will be hosted by Chris Rock and are set for February 28, 2016 in Hollywood. ABC will broadcast the awards show live beginning at 4pm PT.
