Crackle has confirmed Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) has joined the cast of The Oath, created and written by former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Joe Halpin (Secrets and Lies). Sean Bean will be playing a character who lives long enough to be considered the star in Crackle’s new dramatic series set to begin shooting in July 2017 in Puerto Rico. The Oath is executive produced by Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and the first episode will be directed by Jeff T. Thomas (Wayward Pines). Crackle’s targeting a 2018 premiere.

“It’s great to be working with director Jeff Thomas again and the story’s creator, Joe Halpin for Crackle. I’m really looking forward to exploring this fascinating story,” said Bean.

“Sean Bean is the perfect choice for the role of Tom Hammond,” stated Eric Berger, Crackle GM and EVP, Digital, Sony Pictures Television Networks. “He embodies the grit and intensity that drives this character throughout the series’ uncompromising and fast paced narrative. We are excited to have him anchor this incredible production from Joe Halpin and 50 Cent’s G-Unit division.”

The Plot: A gritty, action-packed drama, The Oath explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join – only a select few make the cut-but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.

Tom Hammond, portrayed by Bean, is a hard-charging cop and ruthless leader of the prominent gang made up of those who are meant to enforce the law. After doing a deal with an undercover FBI agent, Hammond finds himself behind bars but after he’s released, his desire to make his way back to the top of the food chain and back in control of the gang he once led puts him head to head with those who used to have his back.

Steve Carell not only reprises his role as Gru, but also takes on a second part—that of Dru, Gru’s long-lost twin. Kristen Wiig returns as super-spy Lucy, while Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker voices new villain Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who has become obsessed with the evil TV character he played in the ’80s. Box Office Report: ‘Cars 3’ Crashes ‘Wonder Woman’s Win Streak

Cars 3 Racing Scene
A scene from Disney•Pixar’s ‘Cars 3.’

Cars 3 snagged an ‘A’ score from ticket buyers, according to CinemaScore, but good reviews from audiences and critics weren’t enough to help the third film of the franchise match either Cars‘ $60 million or Cars 2‘s $66 million opening weekends. Its $53 million domestic opening was enough to push Wonder Woman into second, although Warner Bros Pictures has no reason to be disappointed in that superhero film’s performance. Wonder Woman only dropped 30% over its third weekend in release and has now rung up an impressive $275 million domestically.

Up next, Transformers: The Last Night will be hitting theaters on Wednesday and the critically acclaimed drama, The Beguiled, arrives on Friday, June 23, 2017.
