Universal Pictures’ upcoming creature feature, The Mummy, just released the first official trailer along with a batch of new photos. The reboot of the franchise has Tom Cruise (the Mission Impossible films) in a starring role opposite Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) as an ancient princess. The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Russell Crowe. Alex Kurtzman directed from a script by Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie, with Universal targeting a June 9, 2017 theatrical release.
The Plot: Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Boutella) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

HBO’s Westworld concluded its first season with episode 10 which aired on December 4, 2016. The episode titled “The Bicameral Mind” presented the conclusion of the Man in Black’s season-long quest for the center of the maze as well as the true identity of the Man in Black, which I didn’t see coming. Maeve, Dolores, Teddy, and Bernard’s storylines came to satisfying conclusions while setting up the show’s second season that could go a number of different directions, all of which will be wildly different from the events of season one.
The season one finale kicked off with a voice-over from Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) saying she was in a dream, woke up, and Arnold’s voice was the first she remembered. We see him (Jeffrey Wright) placing Dolores’ skin on her robot frame and she sits up, still incomplete but with her face, neck, and forearms in place. Arnold/Bernard welcomes her to the world.
And now we’re in the present time with Dolores shaving the Man in Black’s neck with a large knife. He (Ed Harris) tells her she’s always been obsessed with this little town but she doesn’t think she’s ever been there before. He continues to confuse Dolores, and then she starts remembering what Arnold taught her. She remembers seeing Arnold in this town and walks toward him after the Man in Black reminds her she’s always wanted to find the heart of the maze.
William (Jimmi Simpson) drags Logan (Ben Barnes) behind his horse as he hunts for Dolores. Logan thinks Dolores is dead, but William has a plan. He finds Lawrence (Clifton Collins Jr) and his gang and asks for their help.
Meanwhile, Teddy (James Marsden) is on the train heading back to town for a new day in the park. He smiles as he walks down the main street but then he hears, “Remember,” and has a vision of dozens of dead bodies spread out throughout the town. He watches Dolores walk through them as a wolf runs by. Then, snap, he’s back in present day Westworld and a host has run into him accidentally. He shoots him dead as everyone runs for the train or for shelter. After calling out to Dolores (who isn’t there), he hops back on the train.
Dolores enters the church to find Arnold sitting in a pew. She tells him she knows where his maze is and leads him outside through a small cemetery. When they’re outside, it’s actually the Man in Black who’s with her, not Arnold. She kneels in front of her own grave and then begins digging. She unearths a can and inside is a replica of the maze. She has another vision of Arnold and he explains he once had a different opinion of consciousness, which he originally thought was like a pyramid. Memory, improvisation…each step is harder to reach, but then he realized consciousness is a journey inward not upward. It’s a maze and every choice can bring you closer to the center. He asks if she’s figured out whose voice he wanted her to hear and she doesn’t understand. He says she’s so close and that she’s alive.
And now it’s the Man in Black in place of her memories of Arnold, with Dolores telling him that at one time she had the answer and Arnold said they’d set her free if she was correct. She remembers talking to Arnold and him confessing he failed her and that Dr. Ford can’t see that she’s conscious. Arnold’s supposed to change her back but that would make this place a living hell for her. Instead, he wants to break the loop and to do that she has to kill all the other hosts. He doesn’t want Ford to open the park, so she should get Teddy to help her. Dolores holds the gun and swears she can’t do that, but Bernard/Arnold insists she help him destroy this place.
Back with the Man in Black, she swears she can’t remember anything about the heart of the maze. He asks again where Wyatt is and Dolores starts sobbing. He hits her and she remembers being among all the dead hosts that she and Teddy killed. Teddy finished the job and then looked at her strangely, insisting something went wrong. He obviously didn’t want to shoot the other hosts.
The Man in Black tells Dolores it’s all her fault, and also reveals he bought this world and business is booming. But, the hosts can’t fight back and the guests can’t lose so it’s all a lie. He wants to make it a true thing, but Dolores says she already has that. She says the man who loves her will kill him as soon as he finds her.
Lawrence and William are up on a cliff looking out over a group of soldiers. William wants to question them about Dolores.
Back at Delos Corporate HQ, Lee (Simon Quarterman) and Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) talk about her plans to push out Dr. Ford. Lee wants creative control and Charlotte promises him that as long as he makes the hosts simpler and less complicated.
Maeve (Thandie Newton) uses the computer to make changes to the park security and to her host friends, Hector (Rodrigo Santoro) and Armistice (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal).
Charlotte pays a visit to Dr. Ford (Anthony Hopkins) in his office, delivering the news that he’s out. The board voted to remove him, but he can introduce his new narrative before he leaves. She tells him about the planned simplifications of the hosts and he wonders if she’s worried he’ll smash his toys before he leaves. She’s not.
Hector and Armistice’s bodies are being worked on by techs when Armistice springs to life. She bites the end of the tech’s finger off and he screams, but Hector’s tech is wearing headphones and doesn’t hear the commotion. She attacks her tech as the one with Hector masturbates in front of his naked body. The tech finally figures out there’s something wrong when his co-worker flies through a glass wall. Then it’s Hector’s turn to wake up and he kills the masturbating tech. Maeve and Felix (Leonardo Nam) walk in, and Maeve tells them their goal is to escape. Sylvester (Ptolemy Slocum) is shocked by the dead tech and Armistice chases after him. She’s about to kill him when he tells Maeve he discovered someone pulled up her code and revised it so she can wake herself up out of sleep mode. He doesn’t know who did it, but Maeve thinks she knows someone who does.
Teddy gets off the train, shoots a host, and steals a horse.
The Man in Black is beating up Dolores and she still insists her love will come and take her away. She swears his love is real and then confesses it’s William she’s waiting for. The Man in Black laughs, telling her he also knows a guest named William, calling him a man who couldn’t fight because he didn’t have a reason to but now he has a taste for it because of Dolores.
The scene switches to William and Lawrence killing all the soldiers while trying to find Dolores. One surviving soldier says she was alive when they left her. Logan watches as William shoots the soldier and then stabs him ruthlessly through the throat. William tells Lawrence they have to keep looking.
In a Man in Black voice-over, we learn William couldn’t find Dolores after retracing his steps so he kept going further. He continued to kill everyone he encountered and discovered he liked it. He and Logan found the edge of the park and with Logan naked on a horse, William revealed he’d figured out the appeal of the park and believed their company should substantially increase their holdings. Logan kept yelling it’s his family’s park and then it dawned on Logan that William didn’t really care about Dolores after all. All William wanted was this story. William slapped the horse and sent Logan off.
The Man in Black continues the story, telling Dolores William couldn’t get her out of his head. He found her back in town, dropping a can from her saddlebag as she did every single day of her existence prior to the day he met her. But then another man picked up the can and William understood more about her. The Man in Black is William!!! He tells her he grew tired of her and looked for new adventures, while she was lost in her memories. They’ve been together in the park off and on for years. She never escaped and now they’re back for one final round, says William (previously known as the Man in Black). He says she taught him this world and the one outside are similar in that they’re both games. William brags that he owns this world but needs to learn one last thing: where is the center of the maze? She cries and then stands up, telling him she’s crying for him.
Dolores talks of dinosaurs, mighty creatures falling, and how he’s aged over the years. He will die and his bones will turn to sand, and on that sand a new god will walk. He demands to be taken to Wyatt so that the maze can be unlocked. She tells him the maze wasn’t meant for him and then she beats him up, tossing him like a child into the church and then dragging him up the aisle to the base of the pulpit. He hits her back but it does nothing. She breaks his arm, slams him repeatedly into the wall, and knocks the gun from his grasp. She pulls her own weapon as he rests against a headstone, and he tells her to pull the trigger but she hesitates and he stabs her. She grabs her stomach, picturing a younger William as she falls. William reveals he’s disappointed in her and has to find Wyatt by himself. Just then, Teddy rides up and shoots William. He holds Dolores as she bleeds and tries to convince her they need to find a doctor. She wants to go to where the mountains meet the sea instead, and he agrees. As they ride off, William opens his eyes.

The December 3, 2016 episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Emma Stone featured a surprise guest showing up for the ‘Weekend Update’ segment. Vanessa Bayer slipped back into her Rachel from Friends impression, but the real Rachel – Jennifer Aniston – joined Bayer to let her know it’s time to put away Rachel and move on. Bayer and Aniston recently worked together in Office Christmas Party, the adult holiday comedy opening on December 9, 2016, and part of the SNL ‘Weekend Update’ bit also involved Aniston accusing her co-star of texting her too much since they finished working on the movie.
“For the last 12 days, you’ve been texting me every day to come visit you. Listen, honey, I know that you love Friends and we had such a great time making our movie together, but you’ve got to really try to stop texting me every day,” said Aniston. “You know, Friends was like five million and five years ago, so I think we’ve just got to move on.”
But even with prompting from the real Rachel, Bayer wasn’t ready to give up impersonating Aniston. Bayer bragged that does a great bit as Rachel and doesn’t want to stop, which prompted Aniston to respond, “Is it a great bit, though? I mean, it kind of just sounds like all you’re doing is like, What? Oh, me? Oh wow! No! What?!'” Aniston’s question was answered by Bayer and Aniston both doing Rachel, ending with them saying, “Oh, Ross!” simultaneously.

A psychic alien figures out Star-Lord is in love and Drax finds that absolutely hilarious, but it’s Baby Groot who really steals the first official trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The trailer debuted during the Comic Con Experience 2016 in São Paulo, Brazil, with director James Gunn showing it off to attendees before Marvel Studios and Disney released it online. The 2017 sequel reunites Chris Pratt as Pete Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Michael Rooker as Yondu, and Karen Gillan as Nebula.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy was released on August 1, 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy made $94 million domestically over its opening weekend and went on to gross $773 million worldwide before exiting theaters. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to open in theaters on May 5, 2017.
NBC just announced the hosts of Saturday Night Live‘s December 10, 2016 and December 17th new episodes. WWE’s John Cena will host the December 10th episode, marking his first time hosting the long-running late night series. Cena will be joined by musical guest Maren Morris whose first album, Hero, debuted at the #2 spot on the Billboard chart. Marren’s first single, “My Church,” achieved Platinum status.
Manchester by the Sea star Casey Affleck is also set to make his hosting debut on SNL this month. Affleck, who is pretty much a shoe-in to earn a Best Actor Oscar nomination, will host the December 17th episode. The musical guest on that episode of SNL‘s 42nd season will be Chance the Rapper. Chance the Rapper, who appeared as SNL‘s musical guest in a 2015 episode hosted by Chris Hemsworth, recently released his new album, Coloring Book.
NBC previously announced Emma Stone (La La Land) will host the December 3, 2016 episode with Shawn Mendes as musical guest. The December 3rd episode will mark Stone’s third time as the show’s host.

IFC Midnight’s creepy thriller The Autopsy of Jane Doe has unveiled a new trailer starring Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox. The R-rated horror film was directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter) from a script by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, with Olwen Kelly, Michael McElhatton, and Ophelia Lovibond co-starring. The Plot: In small-town Virginia, police are called to a gruesome crime scene where a family has been massacred in their own house. In the basement, an even more disturbing discovery is made: the partially buried corpse of a nude woman. The cops take this unidentified victim to a small, family-run morgue, where they ask proprietor Tommy Tilden (Cox) to perform an urgent forensic analysis in order to help determine what happened at the blood-stained house. Tommy’s son Austen (Hirsch) cancels a date with his girlfriend (Lovibond) in order to help his father perform an autopsy, and the two Tildens set about their grisly examination in the morgue basement.
Working late into the night as they methodically peel back layers of skin, muscle, and bone, Tommy and Austen are baffled by the lack of external signs of trauma on the victim and the alarming extent of her internal injuries. Increasingly perplexed and frustrated by these forensic anomalies, the pair begins to succumb to late-night jitters, getting spooked at apparitions that seem to be lurking in the shadows. As the dread mounts and the atmosphere gets thick with evil, it becomes apparent that the Tildens’ fate is intertwined with a darkness that neither of them can comprehend.
Kristen Stewart dances, smokes, and drives a hot muscle car in the new music video for The Rolling Stones‘ “Ride ‘Em On Down.” The iconic rock band’s latest single is off of the group’s new album Blue & Lonesome which was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins.
The Interscope Records release, which hit stores on December 2, 2016, was recorded in three days in London by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts.
The “Ride ‘Em On Down” video marks Kristen Stewart’s first appearance in a music video. The video was directed by Francois Rousselet and shot by Newton Thomas Sigel (Drive, Usual Suspects) over two days in Los Angeles.

Vance, Jillian Bell, Vanessa Bayer, Jamie Chung, Rob Corddry, Olivia Munn, Randall Park, Sam Richardson, Abbey Lee, and Karan Soni. Office Christmas Party will open in theaters on December 9, 2016.
The Plot: In Office Christmas Party, when the CEO (Aniston) tries to close her hard-partying brother’s branch, he (Miller) and his Chief Technical Officer (Bateman) must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs.
The rock star life is more fun than being the devil, as we learn in season 12 episode seven of Supernatural. Last we saw Lucifer, his Vince Vicente vessel was quickly burning up thanks to a spell by Rowena before she sent him to the bottom of the ocean. But that would only keep him away for so long and the fallen angel has definitely returned!
It begins as we see two young guys in black robes around a table, trying to conjure Lucifer with a rock. One of the men breaks out into laughter, feeling the whole thing is ridiculous. His friend attempts to convince him that it isn’t crazy to try, that the rock contains a feather from Lucifer himself. Well, he was right because Lucifer (Rick Springfield) shows up, still in Vince’s body but not looking so great. He immediately kills the non-believer and tells the other that the rock had called him, not their ceremony. Taking the item, Lucifer is able to restore his vessel, at least for a while. The remaining young man recognizes the meat suit now, telling him he’s “kind of famous” just before the devil kills him too. The statement clearly puts an idea in Lucifer’s mind though.
At the bunker, Sam (Jared Padalecki) finds Dean (Jensen Ackles) playing a game on his cell phone with Mary, wherever she may be. They receive a call from Castiel (Misha Collins), who doesn’t seem to be enjoying Crowley’s company, and tells them to look at a live news broadcast featuring Vince. He’s putting the band, Ladyheart, back together and announces that they have a new contract with a major record label. The guys aren’t absolutely sure it’s Lucifer, but Crowley (Mark Sheppard) doesn’t think a sudden contract for a washed-up band could be anything but a less-than-holy deal.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise when Crowley’s next step is to visit a man at the record label who signed the contract, one the former crossroads demon obviously knows well. The man is glad to see him, offering him some new talent with souls “ripe for the taking.” Yet Crowley is more interested in the deal with Vince at the moment. During the discussion we realize that the man has no idea he was working with the devil, telling Crowley that Vince came to him with a great pitch and he decided to go for it, feeling that the rocker seemed renewed and energized.
Meanwhile the Winchesters are making the drive to Los Angeles, and Dean is clearly sharing how he feels about the city. His complaints continue in detail until he realizes that Sam isn’t listening. The younger brother claims to be listening to a podcast, but Dean pulls the earbuds out of the jack, finding out that he’s actually listening to Ladyheart. Dean’s disgust backfires when Sam makes him listen to the hair metal for the rest of the drive.
In L.A., Lucifer as Vince is getting the rock star treatment and loving it. He’s basking in the attention and adulation, although when his friend and bandmate, Tommy, says they should start recording some music, Lucifer refuses. Instead, he lectures Tommy that music is not the real reason people love them. It’s an excuse to worship, to adore. Tommy isn’t happy but doesn’t exactly want to be thrown through another door like before, or worse.
Also now in the city, Dean and Sam meet up with Castiel where there is no doubt that Crowley is driving the angel crazy. Before he can elaborate, Crowley shows up with the news that yes, Lucifer is in Vince’s body as they suspected. The four search where Lucifer has been staying, first finding he’s been studying famous rock stars and then finding a human tooth pulled out by the root. Ewwww!
Later, we find Vince talking to a fan who has been hanging around him and we quickly notice the woman is missing a tooth. With his encouragement, Roseleen (Crystal Allen) tells him how much she loves him, that she’s been infatuated since she was very young and saw Ladyheart on TV. He asks her what she would do for him to which she replies, “anything.” He then asks her if she’ll bleed and gives her a knife, she hesitates but does start cutting her chest as the scene ends.
Next we’re taken to our group hunting Lucifer at the hospital, finding out what happened to the girl. It turns out she carved Vince’s name into her chest and lost a lot of blood but will be all right. Sam and Dean question Roseleen, asking if Vince had forced her to cut herself up. She insists that he didn’t have to force her, and says she did it to show him how much she cares and to make him happy. She’s also sure he had a good reason, although has no clue what the reason would be, and turns frantic that she needs to get back to him, to get to the show.
The show she’s referring to is then explained to Lucifer by the band’s manager. It’s meant to be an exclusive event for the most diehard of Ladyheart’s fans. However, Lucifer wants a different crowd…new fans, new blood. The manager tries to tell him that she doesn’t think it’ll work because music fans nowadays are not profitable. Yet he insists, and she’s intimidated enough to go along with his wishes.
Still at the hospital, the Winchesters meet back up with Crowley and Castiel to discuss the conversation with Roseleen. Crowley enlightens the rest of the group that Lucifer was testing the girl’s devotion, and states being worshipped is intoxicating. This is probably why he decided to stay in the rock star instead of going after Heaven or Hell. They want to bring Rowena into the mix, knowing they are outgunned without her help. Yet they also know she won’t show until they have Lucifer cornered.
With the knowledge that there was a show, the group splits up to try and find the location of the concert. Castiel goes to the bandmate while Crowley goes to the guy at the record label. Dean and Sam pose as potential clients and go to Vince’s manager. They all strike out, as no one wants to risk the success of Ladyheart’s comeback, despite a supposed threat to people’s safety.
That night, Vince, Tommy, the band manager, and the guy from the record label pull up to a club named Meteor for the show in a limousine. The manager is excited by all the social media buzz this secret reunion is causing. But when Tommy comments that they don’t have any new music to play, the record label executive is not thrilled and confronts Vince, stating he took a chance on them and Vince had better not let him down. If only he knew this was really Lucifer he was threatening because the man is then forced to stab himself in the throat with a pen the devil had gifted to him earlier. The other two are horrified, not that Lucifer cares, as he gets out of the limo and begins showing off for his crowd of fans. Though he does notice his vessel beginning to burn up again as he enters the club. The manager gets out of the limo too and promptly quits, walking away.
Inside the building, preparations for the Ladyheart concert are well underway. Tommy, disturbed by the scene in the vehicle, texts Castiel the location of the concert, giving them the information they so desperately needed. They immediately head that way although none of them are all that confident about what they can do against Lucifer. Dean grabs some Enochian handcuffs, although they doubt they will hold him for long. Cas says he’ll go first, willing to sacrifice himself to at least buy them some time. Crowley agrees to help Cas in order to increase the time the Winchesters will have.
Lucifer enters the dressing room, killing the two members of the band we don’t really know anything about before turning on Tommy and saying that he is going solo. Castiel is able to stop him from killing the man at that moment, only to be knocked to the floor. Before Lucifer can do anything else to our angel, Crowley shows his face, distracting his nemesis. The demon throws Lucifer against the wall, says he means nothing to the kids out there, and that they won’t willingly spill their blood for him to which Lucifer replies that regardless, being Vince is easier, better. While everyone’s attention is elsewhere, Tommy makes to escape but Lucifer kills him before he can get out before beginning to beat the living hell out of the angel and the demon.
During the time all this is going on backstage, Dean and Sam are in the waiting crowd. Dean tries to get everyone out by saying he smells smoke and then by making a scene. He’s in the process of getting escorted out by security when Sam pulls the fire alarm. People begin to leave, but Lucifer hears the sound and pauses his assault, using his powers to stop the alarm. Knocking Crowley out cold, he then tells Cas to stick around for the after-party and heads out to the stage.
Greeting his cheering fans, Lucifer promises them a unique show and tells them it might get messy. Not willing to let whatever plan Lucifer has go any further, Dean pulls out his gun and fires it into the air. This has the desired effect as the entire crowd rushes for the doors. Lucifer attempts to stop them from leaving by forcing the doors to close, but Sam is able to hold them open just long enough for everyone, other than the Winchesters, to escape.
Castiel makes a timely return at that moment to smack Lucifer in the face with a guitar, throwing him back into the drumset, and giving us his classic insult of, “Hey assbutt!” So many years after he originally said it to Lucifer, it’s still funny. Anyway, this gives Dean the opportunity to get the handcuffs on him. Unfortunately, Lucifer is immediately able to burn them off of himself.
That plan having failed dismally, our guys try to appeal to him, asking about God after he and Lucifer had made a sort of peace. Yet we see that Lucifer still has some daddy issues. Truly, his father did leave again soon after that peace was found. Lucifer states all of it; Earth, Heaven, and Hell…It’s all meaningless, the same thing over and over. He doesn’t have a plan right now, all he wants is to destroy his father’s creations. Throughout his rant, we see the vessel burning more and more. Pointing this out, Dean follows with the tragic words, “Rock is dead.” Knowing he won’t last much longer in the meatsuit, Lucifer leaves the body, disappearing. For now, at least.
Shortly thereafter, the four men, including a very beaten Crowley, pack up. Dean comments that they didn’t get Lucifer but did save a crowd of people and calls it a win. Sam feels differently though, bringing up the fact that Vince is now dead, a man that meant a lot to many people and Lucifer destroyed that. A Lucifer with a plan was bad enough but this one that had completely gone off the rails is even scarier. There’s no choice for any of them but to agree, making their need to find Lucifer and get him caged back up stronger than ever. The question is, how much damage will Lucifer be able to do before they figure out how to stop him?
