The latest trailer for Disney’s animated comedy movie Zootopia features a bunny, a fox, and a sloth (no, that’s not the beginning of a dumb joke that’s set in a bar). Directed by Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph), Byron Howard (Tangled), and Jared Bush, Zootopia features the voices of Once Upon a Time‘s Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Shakira, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Alan Tudyk, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Raymond Persi, Katie Lowes, Jesse Corti, and John DiMaggio.

Zootopia opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.

The Plot:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

BBC One and FX announced the start of filming on Taboo starring Tom Hardy (Legend, Mad Max: Fury Road). The eight episode dramatic series was created by Steven Knight and has Hardy’s Hardy Son & Baker production company producing along with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free London. Scott, Hardy, Knight, Dean Baker, and Kate Crowe are executive producing.

Tom Hardy and his father, Chips, came up with the original story and Kristoffer Nyholm (The Killing) is directing. Filming will be taking place in London.

The Taboo Plot and Cast:

Taboo will star Hardy as ‘James Keziah Delaney’ who returns to 1814 London after 10 years in Africa to discover that he has been left a mysterious legacy by his father. Driven to wage war on those who have wronged him, Delaney finds himself in a face-off against the East India Company, whilst playing a dangerous game between two warring nations – Britain and America.

Alongside Hardy’s protagonist ‘James Keziah Delaney’ is Michael Kelly who plays American doctor ‘Dumbarton,’ Jonathan Pryce as ‘Sir Stuart Strange,’ the head of the East India Company and Delaney’s nemesis; Oona Chaplin as ‘Zilpha Geary,’ James’ half-sister; and David Hayman as ‘Brace,’ Delaney’s trusted man-servant.

Jessie Buckley plays ‘Lorna Bow’ who lays claim to James’ father’s will. Ashley Walters is a dangerous face from James’ years in Africa. Jefferson Hall plays ‘Thorne Geary,’ Zilpha’s husband; Ed Hogg is ‘Godfrey,’ Delaney’s cross-dressing spy inside the East India Company; Leo Bill is ‘Wilton,’ Strange’s fashionable, amoral accomplice; Christopher Fairbank as ‘Ibbotson,’ a man to whom James is indebted; Richard Dixon is ‘Pettifer,’ Strange’s right hand man; Jason Watkins is ‘Solomon Coop,’ the Prince Regent’s right hand man and Spy Master; and Nicholas Woodeson is lawyer ‘Thoyt,’ the Delaney family’s former lawyer.

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Teaser Poster Teases Jon Snow’s Return

Game of Thrones Season 6 Jon Snow Poster

After months of swearing Jon Snow is dead (HBO President Michael Lombardo said “Dead is dead is dead. He be dead.”), the first teaser poster released for season six of the HBO series Game of Thrones features none other than Kit Harington. Sure, we don’t see his eyes which means they could now be blue. And it’s possible this is a poster of a dead Jon Snow who will not arise in any other form – or under any other name – in the upcoming sixth season. But why would the creative minds behind the series, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, release a Jon Snow poster if he’s not involved in the upcoming season? The poster plays into speculation that he’s not dead or if he is, he will be reborn. It appears with this poster they’re conceding that Harington is back on the show for the new season, which we already knew as he’s been spotted on the set.

Some will argue the poster could be Jon Snow dead in the snow, lying on his back. But, the angle of his head isn’t right for that position. Plus, what would be the point of Melisandre journeying to the Wall if it wasn’t to resurrect Jon Snow? Unfortunately, we won’t know any of the answers until April 2016, but at least now HBO has provided proof Kit Harington will be part of season six in some form.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Episode 7 Recap and Review: Heads Up

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 7

AMC’s The Walking Dead season six continues with episode seven which, finally, answers the question every Walking Dead fan has been asking: What happened to Glenn (played by Steven Yeun). Glenn’s become a fan favorite and the show’s left him trapped among swarming zombies after Nicholas (Michael Traynor) shot himself and fell off a trash bin, taking Glenn with him. That scene took place back in episode three and, after weeks of speculation, episode seven fills in the events that occurred after Glenn fell into the zombie pile.

Full Recap of The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 7:

YES! Glenn IS alive and this episode begins with Nicholas’ dead body falling on top of Glenn. As the hungry zombies begin eating Nicholas’ lifeless body, Glenn pulls himself under the dumpster. When two walkers try to come in after him, he uses his knife to stab them in the head and uses their now motionless corpses to help barricade himself in from the other zombies. Time passes and the walkers wander off and finally Glenn pulls himself out from under the dumpster and is thrown a bottle of water by Enid (Katelyn Nacon) who’s on a roof top. Glenn goes after Enid, trying to find out why she’s outside the walls of Alexandria and what happened to the town. He asks her what the loud horn sound was and she replies from a hiding place off in the distance, “What always happens people die.” She runs off and Glenn pursues her, asking about Maggie.

Back at Alexandria, Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carol (Melissa McBride), and Michonne (Danai Gurira) have a meeting with Morgan (Lennie James) about how he let some of the Wolves leave Alexandria alive and how the same Wolves almost killed Rick when he was in the RV trying to lead the herd of walkers away. “Do you really think you can survive in this world without getting your hands bloody?” asks Rick. Morgan tries to explain to them about how he met a man and learned that all life is important and people can change. It’s that ideology that brought him back from the brink.

Glenn catches up with Enid and, after disarming her, convinces her to lead the way back to Alexandria. He does this in part by telling her how a part of the walker herd i headed toward the town and that they need to get back to find out what happened.

Back in Alexandria, Rick and Carl (Chandler Riggs) are training Ron on how to shoot which is a mistake considering that later in the episode Ron raids the armory and steals bullets to load into the empty gun Rick gave him. It’s obvious he’s planning to shoot both Carl and Rick. Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh) is busy drawing up plans to expand the town which she eventually shares with Rick and Michonne. Morgan seeks out Dr. Denise’s help to treat the injured Wolf that he has locked in an abandoned house. His behavior catches Carol’s attention and she follows Morgan and the doc to see who he has locked in there.

While on the road heading home, Glenn and Enid gather some green balloons that were originally being used during the walker cattle drive and fill them with helium. Glenn tries to connect with Enid by telling her it’s okay to be scared and he brings up her dead parents. She tells him to stop and that they don’t have to talk. The way she says it is more like a request so she can hold it together.

Deanna’s son Spencer (Austin Nichols) decides he’s going to try to lead the walkers away from the town and uses a grappling hook with rope to try to cross over the heads of a group of walkers. The rope slips and Spencer ends up dangling over the horde of zombies. Tara (Alanna Masterson) puts herself in danger and hangs over the side of the wall, shooting the walkers closest to Spencer in the head while Rick, Morgan, and Tobin (Jason Douglas) grab the rope and pull Spencer up to safety. Rick yells at Tara for risking her life for him to which she responds by giving him the finger. Rick scolds Spencer for doing something so stupid.

Glenn and Enid finally reach the outskirts of Alexandria only to see the walls surrounded by walkers. Enid starts to leave but Glenn stops her. She says to Glenn, “The world is dying. We have to let it.” Glenn replies “No. You’re wrong.” Glenn goes on to say that he won’t let anything happen to her and that the walls are still standing so they need to find out who inside is okay.

Inside the walls, Deanna thanks Rick for saving her son right after Rick apologizes for yelling at Tara who accepts his apology and says, “We’re stuck with each other, right?” reminding Rick that everyone in Alexandria matters, which is a running theme in this episode if not this season. Maggie, who has been keeping an almost uninterrupted look out for Glenn, sees the green balloons floating in the air and knows it’s a signal from Glenn. Overjoyed to know he’s still alive, Maggie comes down from her perch and starts running toward the gates where Rick is. She tells him it’s from Glenn and Rick smiles and nods yes in agreement when just then disaster strikes and the church tower, which has been slowly bending and breaking due to the pressure applied from the walkers outside, leans over and comes crashing down onto the wall that Rick and Tobin had spent half the day reinforcing. The crash creates a huge whole in the fence around Alexandria.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 7 Review:

Without a doubt the most uplifting episode of season six of the AMC horror drama, episode 7 titled “Heads up” finally revealed to the audience that YES, Glenn is Alive! The reveal was not that surprising given the way episode three was shot with a weird angle so the viewers couldn’t really make out if it was Glenn or Nicholas the walkers were eating.

The stand-out performance once again goes to Steven Yeun as Glenn, the tougher than he even knows, smart, and resourceful young man who quickly pulled himself under the dumpster and killed two walkers trying to get at him so as to barricade himself away from the mob of zombies. The scene where Glenn finally pulls himself out from under the dumpster after the walkers have left (which seems to be about a day later) is without a doubt the biggest crowd-pleasing moment for fans of this show – including this critic – since the series started. The way Yeun grabs at the small bottle of water and struggles to get the few remaining drops of water out is extremely effective, demonstrating again his will and strength to survive in this insane zombie-filled world. The scenes between Glenn and Enid as he tries to get her to tell him what happened at Alexandria and tries to get her to go back with him are also the best of the episode, showing how much Glenn’s character has grown and how he is now a true leader, perhaps even a better one than Rick.

The rest of the episode back at Alexandria with all the talking, arguing, training, planning, and sneaking around with almost everyone having their own personnel agenda is rather boring. HELLO…there is a growing army of hungry zombies right outside the walls to this little town constantly trying to get in! Maybe instead of all the pointless chit-chat, Rick, Morgan, Michonne and the rest of the residents could deal with the eminent threat.

The church tower has collapsed, crashing onto the wall making a huge opening which prompts the question: what do the writers and creators of this show have against religion?! It seems like anytime a religious symbol or building is around or being used it eventually ends up being destructive to the group. Now Rick, Maggie, Tara, Michonne, and the rest of the townspeople are going to be fighting and running from all those walkers who’ve finally gained access into Alexandria.

On a personal note, this critic and fan of The Walking Dead since it began is of course extremely happy to discover that Glenn – this critic’s second favorite character – is alive and how refreshing it is to see in this apocalyptic, zombie-riddled world that sometimes the good, decent guy can make it. Welcome back, Glenn. Now go help save Alexandria and hug Maggie.

‘Central Intelligence’ First Trailer and Poster with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart

Central Intelligence Poster

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart team up for the comedy movie Central Intelligence directed by We’re the Millers Rawson Marshall Thurber. The New Line Cinema comedy isn’t opening in theaters until June 17, 2016 but the first teaser trailer and film poster have already arrived online featuring Johnson as a CIA agent and Hart playing a high school friend he recruits to help him on a case. The cast also includes Amy Ryan, Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul, and Danielle Nicolet, and We’re the Millers‘ Ed Helms executive produces along with Michael Disco and Samuel J. Brown.

The Plot: The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent (Johnson), coming home for his high school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former “big man on campus” (Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days. But before the staid numbers-cruncher realizes what he’s getting into, it’s too late to get out, as his increasingly unpredictable new friend drags him through a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and espionage that could get them both killed in more ways than he can count.

Box Office: ‘Mockingjay Part 2’ Posts the Lowest ‘Hunger Games’ Opening Weekend

Mockingjay 2 Elizabeth Banks Jennifer Lawrence

The Hunger Games film franchise spread out three books into four movies and while that was financially a smart play by the studio, it meant Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2 both felt a bit diluted. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 wasn’t able to match the domestic opening weekends of any of the previous three films, although at a $101 million I’m sure Lionsgate’s not crying about Part 2‘s domestic box office take. Still, it seems to suggest audiences are fine with the fact the series has come to an end and to confirm studios should re-think stretching trilogies into four films. The second film of the series, Catching Fire, stands at 89% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes while Mockingjay Part 1 registered only a 65% fresh rating (Mockingjay Part 2 earned a slightly higher rating at 71% fresh) reflecting the fact there just wasn’t much to the third film’s story and that it felt like filler.

The R-rated holiday comedy The Night Before also opened this weekend, barely making it over the $10 million mark but still performing better than The Secret in Their Eyes despite that film’s star power of Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It’s likely that both films will drop to the bottom of the top 10 list over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend as Creed, Victor Frankenstein, and The Good Dinosaur arrive in theaters.

Top 10 Box Office – November 20-22, 2015

1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 – $101,025,000
2. Spectre – $14,600,000
3. The Peanuts Movie – $12,800,000
4. The Night Before – $10,100,000
5. The Secret in Their Eyes – $6,633,000
6. Love the Coopers – $3,925,000
7. The Martian – $3,700,000
8. Spotlight – $3,603,466
9. The 33 – $2,240,000
10. Bridge of Spies – $1,945,000

Filming is now underway on Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/the costumed superhero. The Warner Bros Pictures production is based on the iconic DC comics and has Patty Jenkins (Monster) as director and Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder producing. Richard Suckle, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns, and Rebecca Roven are the executive producers.

Gadot will make her feature film debut as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She’ll be a supporting character in that film before appearing onscreen in the currently in-production action drama. Shooting will be taking place in Italy, France, and the UK.

The cast also includes Chris Pine as Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis.

‘SNL’ Reveals ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Audition Tapes

The ratings were up with Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey as host and Grammy winner Adele as the musical guest, but it was a pre-recorded skit that was the best thing about the November 21, 2015 episode of Saturday Night Live. The real stars of Star Wars: The Force Awakens joined SNL cast members and director J.J. Abrams in fake auditions for the new Star Wars film. In the skit, The Force Awakens star John Boyega thinks he received a fake script because he’s auditioning for the part of a black Stormtrooper, Emma Stone tries to convince everyone she’s capable of pulling off any nationality after playing part-Asian in Aloha, and Jon Hamm wrote his own material for the role of Hamm Solo. And Star Wars‘ Daisy Ridley screen tests opposite Michael Bublé as he performs a new version of “Makin’ Whoopee” titled “Makin’ Wookie.”

SNL cast members get in on the auditions playing a Minion-loving Sophia, Javier Bardem suggesting a penis lightsaber, and David Beckham bending BB-8 off the set. Dame Maggie Smith, George Lucas, John Mayer, Shaq, Chris Tucker, Danny DeVito, and Naomi Judd are also represented by SNL cast in the funny four minute skit.
