Disney’s diving back into the Descendants world with a sequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red. The fifth film of the franchise will be adding Alice in Wonderland descendants and welcoming back Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker as Princesses Red and Chloe.

Descendants 5 (not the official title) is expected to begin production soon, with Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-sitter’s Club, Girls5eva) on board to direct.

“Picking up shortly after the events of the 2024 hit film Descendants: The Rise of Red, the next chapter explores what ‘happily ever after’ is really like for Red and Chloe, following their return from their time-traveling adventures,” reads Disney Channel and Disney+’s synopsis. “Set primarily in present-day Wonderland, the sequel delves into the warning at the end of the previous movie: ‘There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.'”

Leonardo Nam is confirmed to return as Maddox Hatter. Newcomers include Liamani Segura as Red’s sister Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, and Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook.

“The love for the Descendants franchise runs deep, and the incredible response to Descendants: The Rise of Red last year proved just how much fans are invested in these characters and their stories,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “Our next movie will build on that legacy and deliver even more of the magic, music, and heart that make Descendants so special — brought to life by an amazing cast and creative team who continue to elevate this world in new and exciting ways.”

Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer wrote the screenplay. Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh are executive producing, with Emmy-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal on board to handle the new dance sequences.

The fourth film of the franchise, Descendants: The Rise of Red, premiered in July 2024 on Disney+ and was the most-watched original streaming movie among kids 6-11.

There’s finally official content available for the much-anticipated second season of Peacock’s Poker Face starring Natasha Lyonne. While the streamer didn’t announce a season two premiere date, it teased that the 12-episode new season will arrive this spring.

“Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in season two we’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime-solving existential road trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability,” wrote series creator, writer, director, and executive producer Rian Johnson and series star director, writer, and executive producer Natasha Lyonne in a joint statement released with the first photos.

Johnson and Lyonne continued: “To bring season two to life, we pulled visual inspiration from American 70s cinema, all the stuff we love like Robert Altman, Bob Rafelson, Peter Bogdanovich. But the backbone of this show is TV – the kind of TV we grew up watching, episodic case-of the-week gems like Columbo and The Rockford Files and Quantum Leap. Each episode is a mini-movie, existing in its own world with a unique tone and vibe, featuring an eccentric lot of characters played by a truly gonzo parade of guest stars.”

Tony Tost serves as the showrunner and executive produces along with Lyonne, Johnson, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, Nora Zuckerman, and Lilla Zuckerman. Season one earned four Emmy nominations, winning in the Outstanding Guest Actress Performance in a Comedy Series (Judith Light) category.

Four-time Grammy winner Keith Urban has joined CBS’s upcoming music competition series The Road. The series, set to debut during the fall 2025 primetime season, comes from prolific producer Taylor Sheridan (the Yellowstone universe, Mayor of Kingstown), Blake Shelton, David Glasser, and Lee Metzger.

“I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,” said Keith Urban. “Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can’t be taught, like how to put together a set list, whether to extend or cut a song during your performance or how to work the crowd. For me, touring has always been my first love. It’s where the rubber meets the road. But it’s the only road to take if you want to be a performer.”

Per CBS: “The Road offers viewers a backstage pass into the gritty and unforgiving life of a touring musician. With exclusive access to the behind-the-scenes workings of the music industry, viewers will see what happens when some of the best up-and-coming performers pile into a tour bus and tackle a grueling schedule in pursuit of their dreams.”

Urban’s set to perform his biggest hits, along with songs off of his album High, at venues in Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Texas. Aspiring musicians will have the opportunity to be Urban’s opening act, with the audience helping to choose which musicians will remain on the tour.

Keith Urban’s The Road special performances:
– Sunday, March 2 – Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall in Fort Worth, Texas
– Wednesday, March 5 – The Factory in Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas
– Sunday, March 9 – Oklahoma Ranch in Oklahoma City, Okla.
– Wednesday, March 12 – Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Okla.
– Monday, March 24 – Minglewood Hall in Memphis, Tenn.
– Friday, March 28 – Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tenn.
– Wednesday, April 2 – Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more details, visit theroad.castingcrane.com.

The Equalizer Synopsis, Courtesy of CBS

The Equalizer is a reimagining of the classic series starring Academy Award nominee and multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn. McCall presents to most as an average single mom who is quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a trusted few, she is The Equalizer – an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who’s also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption.

Robyn’s clandestine work and her personal life often collide when her smart and observant daughter, Delilah, and her aunt Vi, who lives with Robyn to help her balance life as a working mother, struggle to conceal her vigilante career. While Robyn worries about the mental and emotional toll her work exacts on her family, she is joined in her pursuit of justice by Melody “Mel” Bayani, an edgy bar owner and sniper from Robyn’s past who recently quit the Equalizer team to recover from post-traumatic stress disorder; and Harry Keshegian, a paranoid and brilliant white-hat hacker married to Mel.

As Robyn aids the oppressed and exploited, she sometimes works with Marcus Dante, an NYPD detective and trusted friend who respects the need for Robyn’s type of justice even as he often questions her methods.”
