Rosamund Pike stars in ‘Return to Sender’

The thriller Return to Sender has been picked up by Image Entertainment for U.S. distribution. Rosamund Pike, coming off her Oscar nominated performance in Gone Girl, stars in the psychological drama written by Patricia Beauchamp and Joe Gossett and directed by Fouad Mikati.

The Return to Sender cast also includes Nick Nolte, Shiloh Fernandez, Camryn Manheim, and Rumer Willis. Holly Wiersma (Dallas Buyers Club) and Candice Abela produced the dramatic film and Joe Gossett, J.C. Khoury and Logan Levy served as executive producers.

The Plot: Rosamund Pike stars as Miranda, a small town nurse who gets attacked during a home invasion by a mysterious stranger (Fernandez). Following his arrest, Miranda starts to regularly visit him in jail and build a relationship with her attacker. But everything may not be as it appears.

The CW Cancels ‘Hart of Dixie’ and ‘The Messengers’

The CW’s just opted not to give new season orders to Hart of Dixie and The Messengers, according to tweets from executive producers. Hart of Dixie‘s season four finale will serve as the series finale of the drama series starring Rachel Bilson, Wilson Bethel, Kaitlyn Black, Cress Williams, and Scott Porter.

Taking to Twitter, executive producer Leila Gerstein and the cast thanked fans of the series:

Meanwhile, The Messengers had an incredibly short run on The CW. The series has only aired three episodes, but it’s posted such low ratings that The CW has opted not to give it a second season order. However, the entire first season will still air. Executive producer Trey Calloway, series creator Eoghan O’Donnell, and the show’s official Twitter account broke the news.

The 2015 sequel to the first film in the Vacation franchise stars Ed Helms as Rusty Griswold, played by Anthony Michael Hall in the original 1983 comedy directed by Harold Ramis and written by John Hughes. And in the new red band (restricted, not safe for work) trailer, Helms’ Rusty suggests his family take a roadtrip to Wally World just like he did with his mom and dad all those years ago. In addition to Helms, the cast includes Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann, Skyler Gisondo, and Steele Stebbins. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are back reprising their roles as Rusty’s parents, Clark and Ellen Griswold.

Horrible Bosses screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley make their directorial debut with this Vacation sequel. New Line Cinema’s releasing the comedy in theaters on July 29, 2015.

The Plot: The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. New Line Cinema’s Vacation starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Amy Schumer Set for Her First HBO Comedy Special

Amy Schumer Gets Her Own HBO Comedy Special

Amy Schumer is getting her first HBO comedy special and it’ll be directed by Chris Rock. Announcing the special, HBO revealed Schumer will shoot the comedy special on May 29, 2015 at the Apollo Theater in NY. Schumer’s writing the special and is also executive producing along with Mike Berkowitz and Jimmy Miller. The network hasn’t set a premiere date but is aiming for a late 2015 debut.

Fans can purchase tickets for the taping beginning on May 8th at 10am ET via TicketMaster.com.

“Amy is one of the most inspired comics working today, and we hope her first HBO special marks the start of a long and beautiful relationship,” said Michael Lombardo, HBO Programming President. “This event is even more special because our good friend, the incredibly talented Chris Rock, is directing.”

Schumer currently stars in, writes, and executive produces the Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer which was just renewed for a fourth season. She also wrote and stars in the comedy film Trainwreck directed by Judd Apatow and heading to theaters on July 17, 2015.

Other comedians who’ve had their own HBO comedy specials include Louis C.K., Tracy Morgan, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, George Carlin, Jamie Foxx, Jerry Seinfeld, Sarah Silverman, and Bill Maher.

Watch the First ‘Sense8’ Trippy Trailer

The Wachowskis (The Matrix trilogy, Cloud Atlas) and J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling, World War Z) teamed up for the new Netflix series Sense8 and today the sci-fi series’ first bizarre trailer has arrived. Netflix is launching season one on June 5, 2015, with all 12 episodes available on that date for those into binge-watching.

The Sense8 cast includes Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah, Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai, Doona Bae, Aml Ameen Joe Pantoliano, Terrence Mann, and Max Riemelt.

The Plot:

Sense8 is centered around eight characters that live in different cities around the world who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by this experience. They are suddenly able to see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place and have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must these eight adapt to this new ability and to each other, they must figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill, or vivisect them.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ with Chris Evans Starts Filming

Filming is now underway on Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, the third Captain America film starring Chris Evans in the title role and with Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo back at the helm. Filming will take place in Atlanta, Georgia at Pinewood Studios as well as in Germany, Puerto Rico, and Iceland, with Marvel and Disney aiming for a May 6, 2016 theatrical release.

In addition to announcing the start of production, Marvel confirmed the cast list for Captain America: Civil War:

The Plot: Captain America: Civil War picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.




‘Orphan Black’ is Renewed for Season Four

BBC America has officially renewed the critically acclaimed series Orphan Black for a fourth season. Season three is currently airing, with the finale set for June 20th at 9pm ET/PT. Season four will consist of 10 new episodes and will air in 2016.

“Orphan Black is an entirely fresh and original show that stands out even in today’s crowded TV landscape. Tatiana Maslany’s buzzy, virtuoso performance headlines a brilliant cast, and we are delighted to let our vocal and passionate fan base know that this wildly entertaining ride will continue next year,” said BBC AMERICA President and General Manager Sarah Barnett, announcing the renewal.

“We’re thrilled to be moving forward with season four of the Orphan Black saga. Huge thanks to our partners Temple Street Productions, and to BBC AMERICA and Space,” stated series co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson. “We’re extremely excited about where our storylines are going, and look forward to riding the rollercoaster with our amazing fans #CloneClub.”

The cast is led by Tatiana Maslany and includes Ari Millen, Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Skyler Wexler, Kevin Hanchard, Evelyne Brochu, Kristian Bruun, Ksenia Solo, Michiel Huisman, Josh Vokey, Zoé De Grand Maison, Justin Chatwin and Kyra Harper.

The season three premiere drew in 1.9 million viewers, the show’s largest audience to date.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman Set for ‘Zootopia’

Ginnifer Goodwin, Once Upon a Time‘s Snow White, and Jason Bateman will lead the voice cast of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia. Goodwin will be voicing an optimistic bunny while Bateman handles the role of a scamming fox in the animated adventure from Tangled director Byron Howard.

“We knew that Zootopia would only succeed if we found the perfect actors to play our main characters,” said director Howard. “This rabbit-and fox-duo are in practically every scene in the film together. After meeting Ginnifer, we knew she embodied Hopps, the ultimate pure-of-heart, idealist bunny. You fall in love with her character instantly. And for Nick Wilde, our cynical con-artist fox, we only ever had one actor in mind, the incomparable Jason Bateman. Jason has a way of saying the most hilarious sarcastic things while always staying completely charming. We feel so fortunate to be working with both of them.”

Zootopia will be released in theaters on March 4, 2016.

The Plot:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.

Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep stars as the ‘Ricki’ in the Ricki And The Flash title and in this first trailer from the music-filled dramedy, she rocks out, attempts to reconnect with her family, and dispenses relationship advice. Oscar winner Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) directs from a script by Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno), and Streep’s real daughter Mamie Gummer, Kevin Kline, Sebastian Stan, Audra McDonald, and Rick Springfield co-star.

Ricki And The Flash opens in theaters on August 7, 2015.

The Plot:

In an original and electrifying film loaded with live musical performances, Streep stars as Ricki Rendazzo, a guitar heroine who made a world of mistakes as she followed her dreams of rock-and-roll stardom. Returning home, Ricki gets a shot at redemption and a chance to make things right as she faces the music with her family.

Fans Can Choose ‘Survivor’ Season 31 Contestants

Survivor Season 31 Contestants Fan Vote

For the first time in Survivor‘s history fans will decide the 20 contestants who will be competing for a chance to outwit, outplay, and outlast their competitors. CBS has opened up voting on the season 31 cast, with 32 former players in the running for the 20 spots. The winners of the fan vote will be revealed during the season 30 finale live reunion show on May 20th at 10pm ET/PT.

None of the former Survivor players competing for a spot have won, and none have been in more than one season of the reality competition series. To vote for Survivor season 31 castaways, visit cbs.com/survivorsecondchance.

“The idea of a ‘second chance’ season started brewing during our first season, the moment Kelly Wigelsworth lost to Richard Hatch, in the summer of 2000,” said Survivor Executive Producer and Host Jeff Probst. “Since their respective seasons ended, these players have been begging for another shot, and this is a fun way to allow our loyal fans to be involved in the creative process.”
