The R-rated thriller Ex Machina starring Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, and Alicia Vikander just debuted an official trailer as well as a new poster. Ex Machina marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Alex Garland (28 Days Later) and will have its North American premiere at the SXSW Festival this month.
Ex Machina opens in theaters in New York and LA on April 10, 2015 before expanding to additional cities on April 17th.
The Plot:
Caleb Smith (Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company’s brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Isaac).
Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated––and more deceptive––than the two men could have imagined.
Writer/director Cary Fukunaga’s Beasts of No Nation will debut worldwide on Netflix later this year in addition to screening simultaneously in a limited number of theaters. Idris Elba stars in and was involved as a producer, along with Kukunaga, Amy Kaufman, Daniela Taplin Lundberg, Riva Marker and Dan Crown, on the dramatic film based on Uzodinma Iweala’s critically acclaimed novel. The cast also features newcomer Abraham Attah.

The film stars Attah as Agu, “a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country.” Elba plays Commandant, “a warlord who takes in Agu and instructs him in the ways of war.”

Open Road Films just released the first official photo from Snowden starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden. The first photo shows Gordon-Levitt as Snowden before he was a whistle-blower and while he was serving his country. Directed by Oliver Stone, Snowden is based on the books The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena. The cast also includes Timothy Olyphant, Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, and Joely Richardson.
Snowden will open in theaters on December 25, 2015.

True Blood‘s Rob Kazinsky has signed on to the cast of Fox’s Frankenstein, according to Deadline. Kazinsky will play the ‘monster’ in a new take on Mary Shelley’s classic horror story.
Deadline says Kazinsky will play Ray Pritchard, a morally corrupt retired cop who is given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. Now younger and stronger, Pritchard will have to choose between his old temptations and his new sense of purpose.
The cast also includes Adhir Kalyan as one of the people who brings Pritchard back from the dead. The series was created by Howard Gordon and Rand Ravich, with Ravich writing the pilot.
Kazinsky’s credits also include Pacific Rim, EastEnders, Red Tails, and Siren.
BBC America’s Orphan Black kicks off season three on April 18, 2015 at 9pm ET with Tatiana Maslany back in multiple roles. The critically acclaimed series created by John Fawcett and Graeme Manson left off with the introduction of new characters played by Ari Millen. This upcoming season will also feature guest stars Justin Chatwin as a neighborhood dealer, James Frain as a cleaner, and Ksenia Solo.

On March 9, 2015, Food Network will premiere the new series Food Fortunes in which “food visionaries” will have the chance to get funding for their inventions. The Plot:
