The popular Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys comes to the big screen with Clint Eastwood as director and John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Vincent Piazza, Michael Lomenda, and Christopher Walken in starring roles. And Warner Bros has just unveiled the official trailer for the June 20, 2014 theatrical release of the R-rated musical based on the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
The Plot:
Clint Eastwood’s big screen version of the Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of the four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic ’60s rock group The Four Seasons. Their trials and triumphs are accompanied by the hit songs that influenced a generation, and are now being embraced by a new generation of fans through the stage musical.
Disney’s providing a behind-the-scenes look at the new action-adventure film Maleficent with a featurette focusing on Angelina Jolie’s lead character. “We all know the story Sleeping Beauty, so we know Maleficent. We know what happened at that christening,” says Jolie, “But we’ve never known what happened before.”
Directed by Robert Stromberg, Maleficent will arrive in theaters on May 30, 2014.
In addition to the new video, Disney also announced a new “Embrace Your Inner Evil” sweepstakes in which fans can enter for a shot at winning a trip to the film’s world premiere. Disney’s asking fans to recreate Maleficent’s laugh and then post the video using the #MaleficentLaughSweeps tag on Instagram. The Plot:
Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

Also set to join the primetime lineup this summer are Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Masters of Illusion, new episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and the return of Beauty and the Beast.
In addition to announcing the summer premiere dates, The CW provided details on the new shows airing in June and July:
Famous in 12: “Famous in 12 is an unscripted series/social experiment that will film one fame-seeking family around the clock for 12 weeks straight. The family will be guided by the TMZ machine, which will create a series of opportunities for them. TMZ and Harvey Levin will help, and additional experts will be brought in throughout the course of the series to provide input and guidance on the path to fame, but it is up to the family to pull it off. Throughout their 12-week quest, the family will circulate through some of Los Angeles’ most populated – and popular – venues in order to seize opportunities that might come calling.”
Backpackers: “Originally created as a digital series for The CW’s digital studio, CW Seed, Backpackers, follows best friends Ryan (Noah Reid) and Brandon (Dillon Casey) as they race across Europe in search of Ryan’s missing bride-to-be, while also struggling with the eternal twenty-something question of what to do with their lives. When Ryan’s lost journal suddenly gets posted online and explodes across the internet, Ryan’s life dream of becoming a published author becomes real – if only he can track down the jerk who stole the journal. With Brandon’s slacker brother Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) in tow, they travel from Thailand to Canada in search of the missing journal, while also seeking the ultimate answers to life, love and partying.”
Seed: “Seed tells the story of Harry (Adam Korson), a single, underachieving bachelor/bartender who is also a sperm donor. Harry reluctantly begins a relationship with three unique and separate recipient families – a laid-back lesbian couple with a 9-year-old son, a neurotically hopeful single mom-to-be, and an uptight, upper-class family with a rebellious teenage daughter – with whom he’ll come to share more than just his DNA.”
Penn & Teller: Fool Us: “On Penn & Teller: Fool Us, premiering Wednesday, July 30 (8:00-9:00 pm ET), aspiring magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try and fool the world-famous team of Penn & Teller. The Cannes Film Festival just released the list of movies screening at this year’s event and David Michôd’s The Rover was among the films that will be playing as part of the Midnight Screenings section at the festival. In support of the Cannes Film Festival news, A24 has put out a new official trailer for the gritty thriller. Written and directed by Michôd (Animal Kingdom), The Rover stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.
A24 will be releasing The Rover in theaters in NY & LA on June 13, 2014 followed by a nationwide release on June 20th.
The Plot:
The Rover is set in a world 10 years following the collapse of society. The rule of the law has disintegrated and life is cheap. The film follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce) as he travels the desolate towns and roads of the outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind a wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that still matters to him.
Atlantic Records will be releasing The Fault in Our Stars – Music from the Motion Picture soundtrack on May 19, 2014 in support of the film’s release on June 6th. Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX, and Birdy all contribute tracks to the CD produced by Kevin Weaver (Boardwalk Empire) and Season Kent (Entourage).

Netflix has also released a behind-the-scenes video with the cast describing the show in three words.
All 13 episodes of season two will be released on June 6th, and season one is currently streaming on Netflix (in case you need a refresher before the premiere of season two). Returning cast members include Taylor Schilling, Jason Biggs, Laura Prepon, Kate Mulgrew, Danielle Brooks, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning, Laverne Cox, Michael Harney, Samira Wiley, and Yael Stone.
The Plot:
From Weeds creator Jenji Kohan comes Orange is the New Black, a women’s prison drama with comedy that takes no prisoners. Based on the acclaimed memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman, the series is about engaged Brooklynite Piper Chapman, whose decade-old relationship with drug-runner Alex results in her arrest and year-long detention in a federal penitentiary. To pay her debt to society, Piper must trade her comfortable New York life with fiancé Larry, for an orange prison jumpsuit and a baffling prison culture where she is forced to question everything she believes about herself and the world at large. As she struggles to adjust to her new reality, she finds unexpected laughter, tears, conflict and camaraderie amidst an eccentric and outspoken group of inmates.
The first teaser poster for Columbia Pictures upcoming action thriller The Equalizer is now out featuring Denzel Washington tackling the role played by Edward Woodward in the popular 1980s crime series. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, who also directed Washington in Training Day, The Equalizer will arrive in theaters on September 26, 2014. The cast also includes Marton Csokas, Chloë Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Bill Pullman, and Melissa Leo.
The Plot:
In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

Abby Lee Miller’s adding another starring role in a reality TV series to her résumé with the premiere of Abby’s Studio Rescue on June 17, 2014. The new Lifetime series will follow Miller (Dance Moms, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition) as she attempts to help out struggling dance studios and put them on the road to being profitable.
The new series will air on Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT and is executive produced by Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue, Kimberly Chessler, Jeff Collins, Michael Hammond, Sandi Johnson, Bryan Stinson, and Heather Schuster.
The Plot:
With seven one-hour episodes, Abby’s Studio Rescue sends Abby to studios across the country that are in need of a head-to-toe overhaul of their business before their doors are forced shut forever. A studio owner since 1980, Abby knows running a business can be full of challenges, and she is ready to give them the tools they need to take their studios and dancers to the next level.
