The Fifth Estate stars Benedict Cumberbatch…and there are many people out there who only need to know that to become interested in the DreamWorks Pictures release. For the rest of you, The Fifth Estate is based on the Inside WikiLeaks and WikiLeaks books, and is directed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 & 2, Dreamgirls).

The cast also includes Daniel Brühl, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis, Alicia Vikander, Peter Capaldi, Carice van Houten, Dan Stevens, Stanley Tucci, and Laura Linney. DreamWorks will be launching the dramatic film in theaters on October 18, 2013.

The Plot:

Triggering our age of high-stakes secrecy, explosive news leaks and the trafficking of classified information, WikiLeaks forever changed the game. Now, in a dramatic thriller based on real events, The Fifth Estate reveals the quest to expose the deceptions and corruptions of power that turned an Internet upstart into the 21st century’s most fiercely debated organization. The story begins as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) team up to become underground watchdogs of the privileged and powerful.

On a shoestring, they create a platform that allows whistleblowers to anonymously leak covert data, shining a light on the dark recesses of government secrets and corporate crimes. Soon, they are breaking more hard news than the world’s most legendary media organizations combined. But when Assange and Berg gain access to the biggest trove of confidential intelligence documents in U.S. history, they battle each other and a defining question of our time: what are the costs of keeping secrets in a free society—and what are the costs of exposing them?”

The Plot: D’elia plays “Adam,” a thirty-something man child who lives a ridiculous lifestyle with his three lifelong friends. While Glee fans mourn the sudden death of 31-year-old actor Cory Monteith, the British Columbia Coroners Service has announced the official preliminary autopsy results. According to the coroner, Monteith died of “mixed-drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol.”

The Glee star was discovered deceased in a room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver on July 13, 2013 after missing the check-out time. Monteith had a history of substance abuse and had entered rehab multiple times to try and beat his addiction.

The BC Coroners Service is continuing to investigate Monteith’s death however they do not believe foul play was involved. “It should be noted that at this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most-tragic accident,” stated the official report.

‘The Conjuring’ Featurette – The Warren Files

Go behind the scenes of the horror film The Conjuring with the real woman who investigated the haunting of the Perron family back in the 1970s. Opening in theaters on July 19, 2013, The Conjuring stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Lily Taylor, and Ron Livingston, and was directed by James Wan (the Saw films).

The Plot: Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse.

Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The Hatfields and McCoys are Still Feuding

History Logo

They’ve been at each other for 150 years and they’re still not the best of friends, however, the Hatfields and McCoys will be teaming up for Hatfields and McCoys: White Lightning coming to History Channel on August 1, 2013 at 10pm. Descendants of Randall McCoy and Devil Anse Hatfield still reside by the Tug River that separated their ancestors and still separates the legendary clans, and they still make moonshine.

The upcoming series follows the new generation of Hatfields and McCoys as they attempt to put aside decades of animosity and work together.

The Plot:

With moonshine now legal in West Virginia, seasoned liquor executive Monsell Darville is looking to bring an authentic new moonshine brand to market. He approaches McCoy patriarch Jim Quick, a direct maternal descendent of Randall McCoy, to boldly propose a business partnership with the Hatfields – one that would create a Hatfield & McCoy moonshine. This would require Jim to work alongside patriarch Mark Hatfield, the great-great-great grandson of Devil Anse Hatfield. It would also demand that both families reveal their secret moonshine recipes, supply their legendary well water and most importantly – work together and get along!

The Hatfields and McCoys are true American originals. A stubborn streak runs a mile wide in these parts, and long-held grudges can even pit brother against brother. Grannies talk trash and tote guns. Long-suffering wives try to keep hot-headed husbands in line. But nobody trusts an outsider.

It’s all a matter of history, principle, and family pride for the warring clans. With millions of dollars at stake, is it possible to put their bad blood behind them? Can they stop seeing red and start making green? Or will their infamous history prevail and kill the chance of a lifetime?

New Artist Spotlight: Rachele Lynae

The daughter of a fisherman, Rachele Lynae was raised on Alaska’s Kodiak Island. From the start, she set her eyes far beyond the snow-capped mountains that towered on the horizon, toward the Lower 48 and a career in Country Music. She began singing in church at age 5, did her first show at 11 in the Kodiak Lions Club, started writing songs at 12 and embarked on her first tour at 17. Enrolled after that in Belmont University, she polished her chops at Tootsies Orchid Lounge and other Lower Broadway venues.

In her senior year, Lynae cut an EP that soon made its way to Jamie O’Neal. The celebrated Country artist took Lynae under her wing, eventually producing her self-titled, six-song “party pack” digital EP on O’Neal’s Momentum Label Group imprint. Her single, “Fishin’ for Something” (written by Lynae and Hannah Bethel) dropped July 2, immediately receiving five new adds on Mediabase.

“Party ‘Til the Cows Come Home” (Lynae, O’Neal, Stephanie Bentley, and Jimmy Murphy) is a full-bore barn burner, complete with a high-impact guitar lick, internal rhymes and a powerful chorus that summons the listener to join the fun. Equally impressive, Lynae employs multiple arrangement devices — sing-along riffs, sudden breaks, and other elements that change constantly yet never impede the groove.

And, oh, yeah, she can sing too. On the power ballad “Done Is Done” (Lynae and Luke Sheets), check out how her intensity varies from delicate to resonant and assertive within the space of a few bars, making it all sound easy and never losing focus. Even in these few moments, Lynae’s fiery delivery could illuminate the Northern Lights.

IN HER OWN WORDS

FAVORITE FOOD ON THE ROAD

“When I’m on the West Coast, I have to hit up In-n-Out Burger at least once! Other than that, does coffee count as food?”

WHAT YOU HOPE PEOPLE WILL SAY ABOUT YOU 50 YEARS FROM NOW

“I want people to say that I have always been inspiring and empowering – a cheerleader for love.”
