What Did Jennifer Lawrence Say After Winning a SAG Award?

After taking the stage to accept her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for Silver Linings Playbook at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jennifer Lawrence stepped backstage to answer a few questions from reporters. Apparently inquiring minds really want to know what advice Lawrence has received on handling award shows and red carpets, and what would she tell her 14 year old self (the age she received her Screen Actors Guild card) about her future if she could go back in time.

The Official Plot:

The setting is Yokohama in 1963, and the filmmakers lovingly bring to life the bustling seaside town, with its misty harbor, sun-drenched gardens, shops and markets, and some of the most mouthwatering Japanese home-cooking set to film. The story centers on an innocent romance beginning to bud between Umi and Shun, two high school kids caught up in the changing times. Japan is picking itself up from the devastation of World War II and preparing to host the 1964 Olympics – and the mood is one of both optimism and conflict as the young generation struggles to throw off the shackles of a troubled past. While the children work together to save a dilapidated Meiji era club house from demolition, their tentative relationship begins to blossom. But – in an unexpected twist that parallels what the country itself is facing – a buried secret from their past emerges to cast a shadow on the future and pull them apart.

Nicholas Hoult Talks ‘Warm Bodies’

Nicholas Hoult (soon to be seen in Jack the Giant Slayer) stars as a zombie named R in the zombie romantic comedy, Warm Bodies. And Hoult, whose credits include About a Boy, A Single Man, and X-Men: First Class, explains in this video courtesy of Summit Entertainment why Warm Bodies is more than just a genre film.

Hoult also talks about his character’s need to connect, the similarities between zombies and people, and the two types of zombies featured in Warm Bodies.

The Plot:

After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Anne Hathaway’s Screen Actors Guild Acceptance Speech

Among the night’s winners was Anne Hathaway (no surprise whatsoever) for her performance in the musical Les Miserables. TLC’s ‘Gypsy Sisters’ Series Details

My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding introduced the world to the Stanley family, and now TLC is bringing a new series inspired by that show to our TV screens. The network’s new six-episode series Gypsy Sisters will debut on February 10, 2013 at 9pm.

The new show will delve into the “twisted” Stanley family tree, getting an inside look at the four women who lead the family.

The Official Details:

Martinsburg, West Virginia is a hotbed of Gypsy culture and intrigue. With their husbands constantly on the road for work, the women are expected to stay home, cook, clean, and raise the children. When they’re not busy doing household chores and working to look their best, they keep themselves entertained by involving themselves in each others lives – whether they’re welcomed or not.

Nettie Stanley is the outspoken matriarch of the Stanley clan, and she wields gossip like a weapon against her enemies. When she’s not stirring up drama and inserting herself into the lives of her nine children, she’s contending with her rambunctious younger sister Mellie, the self-proclaimed black sheep of the family. Mellie’s job as a stripper, as well as her proclivity for drinking, swearing, and getting into fist fights has made her the talk of the town, and Nettie feels that Mellie has brought shame on the family name.

Meanwhile, Nettie’s cousin Kayla strives to be the perfect gypsy wife and mother, but the demanding roles often prove easier said than done. Kayla and her traditional Gypsy husband Richard continually butt heads when it comes to raising their teenage daughter, Danielle. Kayla wants to let Danielle date whomever she pleases, but Richard is insistent on Danielle marrying a proper Gypsy boy. Kayla’s life is further complicated when her brother Gus and sister-in-law Laura move in with them. Kayla worries that eleven people living under one roof is a recipe for disaster!

‘Argo’ Wins Best Ensemble at the 2013 SAG Awards

Ben Affleck was snubbed by the Academy but his fellow actors showed their appreciation for his work on Argo by presenting it with the 2013 Screen Actors Guild award for best ensemble. “Wow, thank you all so much. I can’t believe I’m standing in the place where Daniel Day-Lewis just was. I feel like maybe I’ll be a better actor just for the, like, radiation. I am really amazed and stunned, there are so many great actors here and this is voted on by our brothers who are actors. There’s a hundred and some thousand people in SAG-AFTRA. Some of them never get, you know, to come to a place like this,” said Affleck while on stage accepting the award.

The Argo cast members honored for their performances included Affleck, Alan Arkin, Kerry Bishe, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Bryan Cranston, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea Duvall, Victor Garber, John Goodman, Scoot McNairy, and Chris Messina.

The 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards were held on Sunday, January 27th in Los Angeles, with members of SAG honoring the best performances by actors in films and on television in 2012. And unlike most of this year’s awards shows, the SAG Awards actually had a few surprises amongst its winners. Bryan Cranston nabbed his first ‘Actor’ statuette for his work on Breaking Bad, and that was certainly unexpected though not undeserved. Also pulling off a bit of a surprise win was Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook) over Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, and Naomi Watts. And Downton Abbey earned its first nomination in the ensemble TV drama category and snagged a surprise win over Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Homeland and Mad Men.

100,000+ active members of SAG-AFTRA were eligible to vote for the recipients.

Bryan Cranston was a three-time Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee this year, nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture categories. And Cranston wound up with a terrific 2013 SAG Awards batting average, nabbing awards in two out of three categories.

Winning his first SAG Award for his lead performance in Breaking Bad, Cranston took to the stage and thanked just about everyone: the network, the studio, the cast, crew, writers, directors, cast directors, his fellow actors, and his wife & daughter. “Oh, it is so good to be bad,” said Cranston. “I am so pleased and so honored to receive this award. I’d love to thank our very courageous network, AMC, and [the] supportive studio, Sony Television. Our writers, directors, our beautiful crew in New Mexico who work so hard. Also, Vince Gilligan who wrote…he wrote the role of my career and I am forever grateful to you, sir.”
