Hugh Jackman admitted he almost quit Les Miserables three weeks into rehearsals, but his wife talked him off the cliff. That prompted a “thank you for always being right” portion of his 2013 Golden Globes acceptance speech when he took to the stage as the winner of the Golden Globe for Best Actor – Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical for his work in the big screen adaptation of the musical, playing Jean Valjean and singing his heart out. He didn’t sing on the Globe stage, but he did deliver a heartfelt speech.

Did you love Jodie Foster’s Cecil B. DeMille Award acceptance speech at the 2013 Golden Globes? Did you understand it? Parts didn’t seem to make sense and there will be people turned off by her praise for Mel Gibson, but say what you will – Foster said what she wanted to say, how she wanted to say it, and did it completely for herself. Teasing a big ‘coming out’ speech, Foster said she’d done that years ago to the people who mattered and that she wants to retain whatever privacy she can.
Foster also talked about her career and it appeared she was hinting at retirement, however backstage she clarified and said she was not ready to consider the ‘r’ word.
Kevin Costner’s performance in the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys was recognized with a Best Supporting Actor – Series, Mini-Series, or TV Movie Golden Globe during the 2013 awards ceremony. Accepting the award from Jessica Alba and Kiefer Sutherland, Costner talked about what the award means and recalled how no one said anything to him at the Globes when he was a young, unknown actor.
Adele is so adorable, even when she’s outside her comfort zone on stage at the Golden Globes. Accepting the award for her amazing song “Skyfall” from the Bond movie of the same name, the critically acclaimed singer did appear surprised to be actually accepting an award.

The 24th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival comes to a close on January 13, 2013 with the announcement of this year’s winners. After screening 182 movies representing 68 different countries, the festival has revealed the 2013 winners at a special luncheon celebrating the best of the festival’s films and performances.
