Jennifer Lawrence and Adam Levine to Host ‘SNL’

Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence has been tapped to host the January 19, 2013 episode of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Will there be a Hunger Games skit? Probably, as the January 19th episode marks the first time Lawrence has hosted the show and it’d be a shame not to have her do something with a bow and arrows.

Also making their debut on the January 19th episode will be musical guest The Lumineers. The group is currently in the running for two Grammy awards, nominated in both the Best New Artist and Best Americana album categories.

And then on January 26, 2013, The Voice coach/Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine will make his debut as SNL host. He’s been on the show before, but he’s never had to handle the hosting duties. Levine will be joined by hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar.

‘Dance Moms’ Returns to Huge Numbers

Dance Moms Cast

TV audiences aren’t tired yet of the annoying moms on Lifetime’s Dance Moms as the season three premiere scored a new viewership record for the series. Lifetime says the season three premiere of Dance Moms with Abby Lee Miller had 2.8 million total viewers, up an impressive 33% over season two’s premiere in June 2012.

Season two of Dance Moms set the viewership bar high, earning the top spot on the list of unscripted cable series in its time period. It’s also the network’s youngest skewing series, with season two viewers averaging 32 years old (season one’s viewers average 37).

The Details: Dance Moms follows children’s early steps on the road to stardom and their doting mothers who are there for every rehearsal, performance and bow…all under Miller’s discerning eyes. Presenting a powerful cast of characters that has inspired water-cooler talk across the country, the show immerses itself in the highs and lows surrounding dance competition season, delivering a captivating and dramatic look at the cast’s intense pursuit of National Dance titles.

Centered on the devoted Miller, who runs her school and instructs her young, talented students while also dealing with impassioned mothers who go to great lengths to help their children’s dreams come true, Dance Moms poses the tough questions many people have been asking since the show’s launch about what really goes on behind-the-scenes in the fast-growing and controversial sport of competitive dance.

First time fiction film director Henry-Alex Rubin’s dramatic thriller Disconnect has been chosen to open the 2013 Santa Barbara International Film Festival on January 24, 2013. The film stars Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Hope Davis, Frank Grillo, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Andrea Riseborough, and Max Thieriot, and the festival reports the director as well as cast members (they didn’t specify who) are expected to attend the premiere.

Disconnect is a visceral and timely film experience – and an extraordinary way to start the 28th edition of SBIFF,” stated Executive Director Roger Durling.

The Plot:

Disconnect holds a mirror up to our community and our obsession with all things technical. The story introduces us to a vast collection of characters: A lawyer, an estranged couple, a widowed ex-cop and an ambitious journalist who are all strangers, neighbors and colleagues whose stories collide in this compelling drama about ordinary people desperate for a human connection.

The 28th Santa Barbara International Film Festival will run January 24 through February 3. For more info on the festival, visit www.sbfilmfestival.org.
