Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta and Andrew Dominik Discuss Killing Them Softly

Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, and director Andrew Dominik were among the celebrities hitting the red carpet for the New York premiere of the thriller, Killing Them Softly. And in this video courtesy of The Weinstein Company, the three each discuss the appeal of the story, and director Dominik talks about having Pitt as a collaborator on the project.

The Plot:

A longtime hanger-on in the wiseguy world, Johnny Amato (Vincent Curatola) has come up with a slick plan to roll a mob-protected card game. To complete the actual theft, Johnny turns to Frankie (Scoot McNairy), a jittery young crook who is fresh out of jail and flat broke, and Russell (Ben Mendelsohn), a gleefully seedy Australian junkie whose latest criminal enterprise involves dog theft. Presidential politics and America’s financial crisis are all over the news, but it’s little more than background noise to these three guys who are angling to make a quick score in a broken-down city. The conspirators feel assured of success, certain as they are that the mob’s suspicions will immediately fall on the game’s regular dealer, Markie Trattman (Ray Liotta). But only a fool believes in a foolproof plan…

With more bluster than brains, Frankie and Russell manage to pull off the robbery and escape without being recognized. But while Frankie, Russell and Johnny are busy congratulating themselves, the mob is taking steps to nip any problems in the bud by bringing in the seasoned enforcer Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) to investigate the heist and restore the status quo. Punishment must be exacted, but even more a message must be sent, to customers and would-be thieves alike: nothing and no one will be allowed to capsize the local criminal economy. Jackie brings his customary professionalism to the assignment, only to find himself navigating frustrating complications, including a finicky client that communicates through a buttoned-up middle-manager (Richard Jenkins), and a trusted colleague (James Gandolfini) who has turned surprisingly unpredictable. In the end, it is up to Jackie — unflappable, efficient and thoroughly versed in the vagaries of killing — to get the job done right.

NBC’s set the premiere date for the new drama series Do No Harm for January 31, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT. The show will debut following the hour-long series finale of 30 Rock (airing at 8pm).

The network also announced they’re bumping Rock Center with Brian Williams to Fridays starting on February 8. The series will air at 10pm after Dateline NBC at 9pm.

“January 31 will be a special night as one classic series will mark its finale with a great hour-long sendoff episode while a promising new drama will make its debut on Thursdays,” stated Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “30 Rock is acclaimed as a legendary comedy and we will see a truly memorable and fitting last episode. In Do No Harm, viewers will have a unique new dramatic storyline with an exciting new star in Steven Pasquale that takes them into dark and uncharted territory.”

NBC’s Grimm will return on March 8, 2013 at 9pm.

The Plot of Do No Harm:

Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale, Rescue Me) is a highly respected neurosurgeon who has it all – a lucrative career, confident charm, the gift of compassion. But he also has a deep, dark secret. One morning when he wakes up disoriented in a wrecked hotel room amidst several near-naked women he’s never seen before, he knows one thing: it’s happening again. Every night at the same hour, something inside Jason changes, leaving him almost unrecognizable – seductive, devious, borderline sociopathic.

This new man is his dangerous alternate personality who goes by the name of “Ian Price.” For years he’s battled Ian, keeping him in check with a powerful experimental sedative. But now his – their – body has developed a resistance to the serum, setting Ian free once again. And to make matters worse, after being suppressed for so long, Ian’s hell-bent on taking revenge on his oppressor. With everyone Jason cares about at risk – patients, friends, co-workers and even the woman he loves – he’s got to stop Ian once and for all. Will they find some common ground, or will they bring each other down? Hell hath no fury like an alter ego scorned.

Alana De La Garza, Michael Esper, Ruta Gedmintas, and Phylicia Rashad also star.

Lifetime is bringing back the obnoxious dance moms and dance instructor Abby Lee Miller for a third season of the reality dance show, Dance Moms, on January 1, 2013 at 9pm. Season 3 kicks off with a 90 minute premiere which promises just as much drama – as well as just as many dance competitions – as the previous two seasons.

Prior to the Dance Moms season 3 premiere, Lifetime will air Dance Moms Special: The Smoke Before the Fire at 8:00 pm. The special provides a behind-the-scenes look at the series, with the moms and Abby providing details on what’s in store for this upcoming season. The dancers will also be performing “never-before-seen choreography” created just for Dance Moms Special: The Smoke Before the Fire.

The Details:

Dance Moms follows children’s early steps on the road to stardom and their doting mothers who are there for every rehearsal, performance and bow…all under Miller’s discerning eyes. Presenting a powerful cast of characters that has inspired water-cooler talk across the country, the show immerses itself in the highs and lows surrounding dance competition season, delivering a captivating and dramatic look at the cast’s intense pursuit of National Dance titles. Centered on the devoted Miller, who runs her school and instructs her young, talented students while also dealing with impassioned mothers who go to great lengths to help their children’s dreams come true, Dance Moms poses the tough questions many people have been asking since the show’s launch about what really goes on behind-the-scenes in the fast-growing and controversial sport of competitive dance.

Buckwild Premieres on MTV in January

The Cast of Buckwild
The Cast of 'Buckwild' - Photo Courtesy of MTV
Is this the anti-Jersey Shore? Maybe. MTV’s set a January 3, 2013 premiere date for their latest reality series, Buckwild. The new show follows nine young West Virginians as they “find unique ways to create their own fun.”

The first season 12-episode run will debut at 10pm on Jan. 3rd, with the half-hour episodes airing back-to-back.

The Plot:

Having known each other for years, the young people in the series are united by the deep pride they have for small-town American life, in which they find unique ways to create their own fun. From transforming a dump truck into a pool party to building a human sling shot, they live their lives loud and proud without restrictions. Beyond dating, friendship, and their love of mudding, the bond they share with family and friends is always at the core for this fun-loving group.

The Buckwild Cast:

Shain: Everyone in Sissonville, W. Va. knows Shain. Sociable and loyal, he was the high school Prom King, but missed the dance because he had to work. He’s done every job from coal mining to being a garbage man but as long as he is using his hands, he’s happy. He loves mudding, hunting and four-wheeling but most of all he loves his parents, who live three doors down.

Shae: Around town, Shae is known as the Southern belle. She’s been chased after by every eligible bachelor in Sissonville but somehow always ends up with the bad boy. Currently a nursing student, this college girl is also a country girl through and through. In fact, her first kiss was on the back of a four-wheeler.

Anna: Even though she comes from the ritzier part of town, Anna would rather spend her time getting dirty with the crew down in the creeks and hollers. She’s a true wild child at heart who finds herself at a crossroads in life trying to decide between work and school. One thing is for certain: Anna isn’t afraid to stand up for herself.

Joey: Shain and Joey have been best friends since they could walk. Once they learned how to ride a bike, it’s been bumps, bruises and hospital visits for these adrenaline junkies. With his Justin Bieber haircut and laid-back country attitude, Joey thinks he’s the biggest ladies man in town.

Ashley: Wild and carefree, Ashley is known for being one of the guys. She’d rather get down and dirty in the mud than deal with local drama – although she doesn’t mind starting it. She’s the bravest and most honest of her friends, but always the one to stir the pot.

Cara: Originally hailing from Morgantown, the biggest college town in West Virginia, Cara had seen her fair share of the club and bar scene. But when the drama of having an ex in the same town became too much, she decided to escape back to her Sissonville friends to get her mind straight.

Tyler: Known for his innocent good looks, Tyler has a reputation for leaving a trail of broke hearts all over town. He recently finished up another semester in college but the flexible schedule of working at his dad’s company sometimes seems more enticing. Recently Shain and Joey have taken Tyler under their wing on a mission to make him less of a pretty boy and more of a country man.

Katie: A well-rounded college girl, Katie loves to spend her free time away from school, back with her friends in Sissonville. She is afraid of anything potentially dangerous, which means the gang loves to push her to her limit whenever they can.

Salwa: A recent college graduate, Salwa lives at home with her strict parents. Whenever she’s able to slip away, she’s the first one at the party. The oldest of the group, Salwa is always down for a good time and everyone loves her “tell it like it is” attitude.

Guests Announced for ‘A Home for the Holidays with Rascal Flatts’

Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts will be joined by American Idol‘s Phillip Phillips, Matchbox Twenty, Melissa Etheridge, and The X Factor‘s Rachel Crow as performers on the 14th annual A Home for the Holidays with Rascal Flatts TV special. Airing on CBS on December 19th at 8pm, the holiday special will also feature appearances by Wayne Brady, Kevin Frazier, and Jillian Michaels.

As with the previous years, A Home for the Holidays will feature true inspirational stories of adoption from foster case in order to “raise awareness for this important social issue.”

Here’s the scoop on the families featured on this year’s special, courtesy of CBS:

Crow Family (Los Angeles, Calif.)

“Everything I’ve done has been possible because of my family. They gave me the love and support to follow my dreams,” says 14-year-old recording artist and X Factor finalist Rachel Crow. Placed in foster care as an infant, she moved through three different foster homes in less than a year and faced an uncertain future until she was adopted by Kelly and Barbara Crow.

“Even as a toddler, Rachel had such spirit and drive to be the child she was meant to be, and before we knew it she became this little girl with the big voice,” says Barbara. Three years later, the Crows adopted their second daughter, Hannah. “The love I have for my girls is beyond anything,” says Kelly. Today 11-year-old Hannah is a straight-A student and Rachel has a recording contract with Columbia Records/Syco, a development deal with Nickelodeon and a recurring role on the comedy series Fred: The Show.”

Dunne Family (Tampa, Fla.)

If you met the Dunne brothers today you would never know they had been living apart, as they moved through 23 different foster homes in just five years. “Some nights I would try to hide under the covers because I was so scared,” says the youngest, John. Chris and Tammy Dunne had raised two daughters when they saw a picture of the four brothers in foster care. “My husband was adopted as an infant and I aged out of foster care without a family, so the boys really touched our hearts,” says Tammy.

“We wanted them to stay together, and made an instant decision to adopt all four,” says Chris. “You can’t think that no one will love you. There is someone and you just have to keep hoping,” says oldest brother Eric.

Burkett Family (Nashville, Tenn.)

“We met our son when he came to stay as a temporary foster placement. It started out as two days and turned into forever.” The Burketts always had a love for children and decided to become foster parents in 2009. “We wanted to bridge the gap between the uncertainty of a foster child’s past and the hope for an adoptive family in their future.” But fate had other plans. “The day after we met Anthony, we took him to his high school track meet and he politely said, ‘I’ll call you when I’m done.’ It broke my heart that he didn’t think we would cheer him on,” says Tahnesia.

“He had this shy smile of amazement when he realized we were there to watch him run and from that day on, we had a special bond,” says Brett. Now a star athlete, Anthony thrived in the care of his loving parents, and when the Burketts learned that Anthony had a sister in foster care, they adopted both children.

Moore Family (Long Beach, Calif.)

When Terri and John Moore married in 1988, they thought about having biological children, but instead decided to adopt. “We were very involved in our church and wanted to make a difference. Foster children need someone to champion them, and we knew we could give them the love they deserve.” The couple soon met 5-year-old Anthony and his 4-year-old brother Chris, who had been placed in foster care after being found homeless and abandoned.

“The boys just stole our hearts and that was the beginning of our wonderful family of six beautiful children,” says Terri. The Moores became an inspiration to their church, and today their congregation has fostered more than 50 children and more than 20 have been adopted.
