Syfy’s preparing to deliver more scares as it adds three new reality shows – Ghost Mine, Stranded, and Notorious Hauntings – to its 2013 lineup. Mark Stern, President, Original Content for Syfy and Co-head made the announcement, stating, “Each of these series takes a known and successful formula and turns it on its head. Whether it is eclectic gold miners in the midst of paranormal activity, paranormal enthusiasts self-documenting the most haunted locations in America, or investigators researching and examining history’s most notorious criminals and legends in the world’s most haunted locations, these shows celebrate imagination while further strengthening Syfy’s successful reality brand.”
GHOST MINE – Premieres Wednesday, January 16 at 10PM
Forgotten in the remote woods of Oregon is one of the richest gold mines in the United States that was abandoned 80 years ago when a series of tragedies gave it an infamous reputation for being haunted. Now, a new owner has decided to take on the notorious legend and reopen the mine, assembling a colorful team of miners – both seasoned and new – to battle the elements in hopes of finding their fortune and teaming them with a pair of experienced paranormal investigators.
In each of the six hour-long episodes, this strong-willed and historically superstitious group of miners will face the day-to-day challenges of mining, aided by the paranormal investigators who unravel the mysteries surrounding the mine, including historic Masonic connections and a spirit who has been known to haunt the area for generations.
STRANDED – Premieres Wednesday, February 27 at 10PM
Ping Pong Productions joins forces with Josh Gates and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse to create Stranded, an all-new six-episode reality series that documents an unconventional – and terrifying – paranormal and psychological experiment. Each hour-long episode features the self-recorded footage of a diverse group of every-day paranormal enthusiasts – from newlyweds and a brother-in-law to a trio of roommates. Each team of three will be stranded at one of the most haunted locations in America and record the entire experience with hand-held cameras.
The footage from the subjects’ cameras will be supplemented by strategically-placed security cameras at each location, creating a suspenseful, completely unscripted first-hand account of each group’s stay. Over the course of the confinement, the subjects contend with increasingly pervasive feelings of fear and desolation, resulting in an experiment that represents a unique combination of psychology and the paranormal.
NOTORIOUS HAUNTINGS (Working Title) – Premieres Spring 2013
Produced by Pilgrim Studios – the company behind Syfy’s Ghost Hunters, the most successful paranormal franchise on cable – Notorious Hauntings features a group of researchers who investigate reports of extreme and dangerous supernatural activity across the globe. In each of the six self-contained episodes, viewers will follow the investigators as they not only research the otherworldly activity at each site, but also explore the gruesome history of the infamous and heinous individuals, their crimes and victims, to determine if they are the cause of the present-day haunting. Through the gathering of evidence and the uncovering of little-known history, Notorious Hauntings will explore some of the world’s most enduring mysteries, including the case of Jack the Ripper in London and the legendary Dracula in Romania and Slovakia.

Fifty Shades of Grey – A Party Game?
The erotic novel series Fifty Shades has now spawned a board game. Yes, you read that right.
E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey is heading to the big screen – we still don’t know who’ll be playing billionaire Christian Grey or college student Anastasia Steele – and because that’s just not enough Grey, Imagination has teamed with James to create the Fifty Shades of Grey: Party Game that asks players to “release their inner goddess.”
The game will be released in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom and Australia on December 10, 2012. An international release follows on Valentine’s Day 2013.
“We are delighted to be partnering with E L James on this project,” stated Shane Yeend, CEO Imagination. “The Fifty Shades books are a bona fide cultural phenomenon, and they offer an exciting new play pattern for our range of party games that allows everyone to finally reveal their Inner Goddess.”
Details on the Game:
“Romantic, liberating and totally fun, the Fifty Shades of Grey: Party Game will entertain and surprise you as it reveals how you see your friends and how your friends see you. All players listen to the vanilla style question before secretly voting on which of the eight pre-determined friends they believe is best matched to the question. When everyone’s ready the answers are revealed for all to see! Once all the ‘Oohs’ & ‘Ahhs’ have died down any player that picked the same friend as the reader wins an Inner Goddess token. Bonus tokens can also be won, and watch out for the special ‘Twitchy Palms’ questions that are worth double! The first player to collect 20 tokens wins the game and a ride in Charlie Tango … if only!
And players that want to add a little extra spice to their Fifty Shades of Grey Party Game can also buy the ‘Red Room’ Expansion Pack that promises to raise the temperature in this fun party game, and will have everyone talking long after the game has finished.”
About the Book Series:
Fifty Shades of Grey follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele. Subsequent novels in the series, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed continue to explore the couple’s deepening relationship.

Cool App Lets You Pose with Hobbit Characters

Confession time – I can count the number of apps I have without making it into double digits. It’s not that I have anything against apps in general, it’s just that I’ve never understood why I would want to clutter my phone up with things I’ll use once a year – if that. But I couldn’t resist the Photobooth app from GoldRun.
Teaming up with Warner Bros, GoldRun’s offering a mobile app that allows you to pose with characters from The Hobbit. You can position Gollum, Gandalf, and other Hobbit characters and items in photos and then share them via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Email. I snapped the above photo of my dog, Sookie, looking sideways for no apparent reason other than she was refusing to look at the camera. I moved Gollum into the spot next to her in the frame and now it looks as though she knew what was happening the whole time.
The GoldRun app is free at iTunes or Google Play.
The Details:
• Download the GoldRun app for iOS or Android.
• After downloading the app to your mobile device, log in using Facebook connect or Twitter.
• Click on the The Hobbit featured image, click the camera icon on the Featured Screen.
• Once in the camera view, snap away.
• You can share your pictures directly from the app.

Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers.
Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum.
