NBC says season four of Community and season two of Whitney have been delayed because their Monday-Wednesday schedules are doing so well, they want to concentrate on continuing to promote those shows.
The statement from NBC:
“Given the success we’ve had for the past four weeks – including winning the first week of the season in A18-49 — we’ve decided to continue to concentrate our promotional strength on our new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday and have therefore decided to hold Community and Whitney from their previously announced premieres of October 19th. Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week — plus we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of Whitney and Community.”
Instead of new episodes of either sitcom, NBC will be airing repeats of Grimm in the 8-9pm time slot.
Fox Broadcasting Company Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly announced the first season pick up news, stating:
Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real – which is why we’re confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesdays.”
Coming Up on Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project:
The October 9, 2012 episode titled “The Fox Hunt:” Ben (Nat Faxon) and Kate (Dakota Johnson) discover an unopened envelope from 15 years ago that contains the yearly scavenger hunt their dad used to organize for them when they were kids. The find prompts them to complete the unfinished hunt, with BJ (Lucy Punch), Tommy (Echo Kellum) and Maddie’s (Maggie Elizabeth Jones) help, but raises old issues of sibling rivalry. Meanwhile, the scavenger hunt takes an unexpected detour when BJ enlists Kate to help get her belongings back from an old fling.
October 9, 2012 episode titled “In the Club:” Shauna (Amanda Setton) takes the office to the hottest nightclub in town, where Mindy (Mindy Kaling) meets an unlikely suitor (guest star Tommy Dewey) who works as a lawyer for the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, Danny (Chris Messina) hits the dance floor, Jeremy (Ed Weeks) hits on a bride-to-be, and Morgan (guest star Ike Barinholtz) unexpectedly makes some extra cash as the club’s bathroom attendant.
So says Esquire magazine. Esquire‘s chosen Mila Kunis – former star of That ’70s Show who’s transitioned to the big screen with roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Book of Eli, Black Swan, and Ted – as the 2012 Sexiest Woman Alive. 29-year-old Kunis, who has grown up in front of our eyes since debuting in front of the cameras in 1995, seems to have kept her head on her shoulders – even while bumping Rihanna off the Sexiest Woman Alive pedestal. The fact she’s often the best thing about movies she chooses to star in hasn’t gone to her head.
Speaking to Esquire in an interview for their November 2012 issue, Kunis talked about her upbringing and separating her life in front of the camera from when she’s off-screen.
“What I do and who I am are two different things. And they always will be. What happens with people is they lose sight of who they are, and they become either who they want to be or who they are perceived to be. But whatever it is, it is no longer who they are. So much of who you are in this industry is based on what that critic says, what that director says, what that actor says. People start believing all that, and they become what everybody else wants them to be. And I think that I’ve consciously separated my two lives.”
Syfy’s picked up Opposite Worlds for broadcast in the US. The network acquired the rights from Canal 13 and plans on airing two episodes a week over a six week period. Announcing the acquisition, Mark Stern, President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions stated:
Opposite Worlds has become an absolute phenomenon. This groundbreaking, edgy program is a remarkable television experiment transporting the audience and the contestants into starkly opposite worlds, simultaneously. This will be a terrific addition to our prime time schedule which will fascinate Syfy viewers and invite them to play a part in the action and outcome.”
The Plot:
In Opposite Worlds, twenty people from all walks of life are mixed together in two opposing teams that live in two distinctly different worlds – the Past and the Future. The Future is a Utopia where every wish can be granted with a push of a button; the Past is a constant struggle for survival. Each week, players compete in a series of challenges to determine who lives in the Past and who lives in the Future.
Bear Grylls and Jay Leno on the May 7, 2012 episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (Photo by: Paul Drinkwater/NBC) Man vs Wild‘s Bear Grylls will be tackling a new reality-competition series for NBC set to debut next summer. The series, currently going be the title Get Out Alive, will be co-produced by Grylls and Electus and will find teams of two tested “beyond their most extreme imaginations in the wild.”
The series has been greenlight for eight episodes.
“To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature,” stated Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to push themselves beyond their limits. These contestants are in for the ride of their lives!”
Added Grylls, “Get Out Alive will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life. Seven Psychopaths starring Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, and Woody Harrelson hits theaters on October 12, 2012, and in support of its release this week comes a new take on the film that features cats in place of the big-name stars.
Directed by Jim Tozzi, this Seven PsychoCATS trailer is kind of freaky-looking and twisted but worth checking out – even if you’re not into cats.
The Plot of the Real Seven Psychopaths: A struggling screenwriter inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends kidnap a gangster’s beloved dog.
Soon you’ll be able to launch your birds at pigs from the Dark Side as Angry Birds is teaming up with Star Wars for a new edition to the popular game. Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. announced the new Angry Birds Star Wars collaboration which will be available on November 8, 2012.

Liam Neeson stumbled upon the fact he’s meant to be an action hero late in life, but now he’s fully embraced the genre. Sure, there were a few action films sprinkled throughout his older projects (he didn’t totally ignored the genre as he grew in popularity), but with Taken, Clash of the Titans, The A Team, Unknown, The Grey, Battleship, and Taken 2, Neeson now seems really comfortable kicking butt while not bothering to take names.
And in honor of Neeson’s new action star status, Jon and Al Kaplan have put together this “Liam Neeson: The Musical” video.
Revenge is back and although we’ve only got one episode from season two under our belts, we do know that Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) is alive, Charlotte (Christa B Allen) has been set up and sent back to rehab, and Emily (Emily VanCamp) is still out to get even with those backstabbing Hamptons-dwellers. Season two episode two – “Resurrection” – debuts on October 7 at 9pm.
The Plot:
Things get complicated as Emily continues to delicately weave her way back into the Graysons’ lives while remaining tied to Amanda and her unborn child.
