Battleship Trailer #3 Arrives

The more I see of Battleship, the more the film looks like it could be renamed Transformers #4. This latest trailer from the sci-fi action epic shows off much more of the alien invaders and gives us a better look at the film’s special effects. The human stars take a backseat to the CG aliens, spacecrafts, and explosions, but we do see Rihanna in two brief clips as well as the film’s stars Taylor Kitsch (John Carter), Liam Neeson, and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood).

Take a look and see what you think of this new Battleship trailer:

The Plot:

Peter Berg produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.

Battleship sails into theaters on May 18, 2012.

Drew Brees and Congress Members Support the Campaign to Change the Rating on Bully

The campaign to have the MPAA reconsider their decision and lower the rating from R to PG-13 on Bully is picking up steam, with 20 U.S. Congress members lending their support to the effort. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is also showing his support for the petition created by Michigan high school junior Katy Butler on Change.org to get the rating adjusted. Butler, who was bullied and knows the importance of the film’s anti-bullying message, wants teens to be able to see the documentary and has collected more than 287,000 signatures on her online petition.

View the petition: MPAA: Don’t let the bullies win! Give ‘Bully’ a PG-13 instead of an R rating!

According to the press release from The Weinstein Company, Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) issued a bipartisan letter to the MPAA signed by “20 additional Members of Congress, supporting Katy’s petition and urging the MPAA to drop the ‘R’ rating for Bully.”

“We are writing to express our sincere disappointment in the MPAA’s decision to issue an ‘R’ rating for the soon-to-be-released documentary Bully. This important project shows the real life anguish of many teenagers in this country who are tormented, harassed, and bullied by their peers,” states the letter from members of Congress. “This truth should be shared with as wide an audience as is appropriate and possible. We believe an R-rating excludes the very audience for whom this film is desperately important.”

In addition to Drew Brees and members of Congress, Ellen DeGeneres, and singer/actress Demi Lovato have been active in their support of Butler’s campaign.

“We’ve got the MPAA’s attention, and with nearly 300,000 signatures and support from celebrities and politicians, there’s now a national movement of people calling on the MPAA to drop the ‘R’ rating for Bully,” Butler said. “As someone who lived through bullying day in and day out in school, including having my finger broken by bullies, this film is too important to silence with an ‘R’ rating. Everyone should have a chance to see Bully.”

Sam Huntington, Being Human‘s handsome but troubled werewolf, will play a jazz musician named Ethan on season four of Warehouse 13. Announcing Huntington’s guest starring role, Warehouse 13 executive producer Jack Kenny said, “We love bringing other Syfy icons on to Warehouse 13… There’s something they just ‘get’ about the genre. People like Kate Mulgrew, Lindsay Wagner, Jaime Murray and Rene Auberjonois know that delicate balance we play between humor, drama and action. And Sam Huntington is a natural fit for us. Funny, charming, smart and compelling, he plays ‘Ethan’ — a young jazz musician, desperate to leave his mark on the world of New Orleans jazz — even if it means a great sacrifice.”

Warehouse 13 is Syfy’s most successful series, averaging 3.28 million viewers over season 3. Production on season four is currently underway in Toronto, Canada.

The Plot:

Following the powerful, two-hour season three finale, the team struggles in season four to come to terms with the destruction of the Warehouse and the tragic loss of Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore), Mrs. Frederic (CCH Pounder) and H.G. Wells (Jaime Murray).

Warehouse 13 follows a team of government agents who work at a massive, top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and preternatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse’s caretaker Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek) charges Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock), Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) and Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the Warehouse, as well as helping him to control the Warehouse itself. At the end of last season, the Warehouse was shockingly destroyed. What’s next for the surviving members of the Warehouse 13 team?

What a crazy season it’s been. We’ve gone from a lack of zombies in the first few episodes (so that human drama can hog the spotlight) to what appears to be an invading horde surrounding our heroes in The Walking Dead season 2 finale, and along the way major characters have bit the dust. The season may not have kicked off with memorable episodes but it found its footing along the way and seems to be heading toward a solid finish.

Watch a sneak preview:

The Story:

“Episode 13: Beside the Dying Fire – Rick and Carl return from the woods to find the farm in jeopardy. The group is split up in the ensuing chaos. With things looking grim, Rick’s leadership is questioned.”

The Evil Queen in ‘Mirror Mirror’ Turns to Social Media

Mirror Mirror‘s The Queen (played by Julia Roberts) turns to social media to find out who’s the fairest of the fair, hook up with the handsome prince, and figure out a way to rid herself of her pesky stepdaughter, Snow White (played by Lily Collins), in this ‘Social Queen’ clip from Relativity Media.

The Plot:

Mirror Mirror is a reimagining of the classic fairy tale starring Julia Roberts as the Queen, Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean as the King and Nathan Lane as the Queen’s hapless and bungling servant, Brighton. An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh rewrites fairy tale history as a wicked enchantress (Roberts) schemes and scrambles for control of a spirited orphan’s (Collins) throne and the attention of a charming prince (Hammer). When Snow White’s beauty wins the heart of the prince that she desperately pursues, the Queen banishes her to the forest, where a ravening man-eating beast hungrily awaits.

Rescued by a band of diminutive highway robbers, Snow White grows into an indomitable young woman determined to take back her realm from the treacherous Queen. With the support of her subjects, she roars into action in an epic battle that blends spectacle, magic, and contemporary humor in Singh’s signature, jaw-dropping visual style.

First Look: On the Road Trailer
