Joan Vassos is the First Golden Bachelorette

61-year-old grandmother Joan Vassos has been named ABC’s first Golden Bachelorette. The school administrator from Rockland, Maryland was a fan favorite until she left The Golden Bachelor due to her daughter’s medical issue.

The Golden Bachelorette is the latest entry in the ever-expanding The Bachelor franchise. Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, Bennett Graebner, and Andrew Frank serve as executive producers on the new series set to premiere on Wednesdays this fall.

“Vassos is a remarkable woman whose life has been defined by her resilience, zest for adventure, and strong family values. It was those family values that led to her heartbreaking decision to leave The Golden Bachelor, self-eliminating after a medical concern with her daughter arose. Despite that and other challenges she’s faced along the way – including the heartbreaking loss of her husband after 32 years of marriage – Vassos remains an embodiment of strength and grace as a devoted mother of four, grandmother of two, and school administrator, while finding solace in the music of Elton John, spending time with her dog, and cooking,” reads ABC’s biography of the first Golden Bachelorette. “Now, as she steps into the golden spotlight and begins her journey to seek love once more, Vassos envisions a future filled with shared moments by the beach and cherished time with family.”

Season one of The Golden Bachelor premiered in September 2023 and starred 72-year-old Gerry Turner. The retired restaurateur chose 70-year-old Theresa Nist, and the couple married in January 2024. They announced they’re divorcing just three months later.

Elle Woods is heading to high school in the Legally Blonde prequel, Elle. Prime Video’s given a series order to the prequel from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company. Witherspoon will be involved as an executive producer.

“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?! I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!,” said Reese Witherspoon.

Kittrell (Insecure) created the series and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Additional executive producers include Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt.

“One of the most quotable, iconic, and beloved characters that is ingrained in the fabric of Hollywood history has to be Elle Woods, and we are honored to bring her origin story to our global Prime Video customers,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “Reese and Hello Sunshine’s vision for this series, coupled with Laura Kittrell’s winning voice, made this show completely undeniable.”

Prime Video offered this synopsis: “Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”

Directed by Robert Luketic, Legally Blonde was released in July 2001 and starred Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, and Jennifer Coolidge. Made for $18 million, the PG-13 romantic comedy grossed $141 million worldwide before exiting theaters. Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde followed in 2003, with more than double the budget. After a $22 million domestic opening weeking, the sequel wound up grossing $124 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

Wrexham’s Red Dragons just keep on winning, on and off the field. FX has renewed the popular documentary series Welcome to Wrexham for season four, with the new season targeting a 2025 premiere.

“Wrexham AFC has exceeded all expectations on the pitch and with fans, scoring back-to-back promotions under the leadership of Rob and Ryan and rising to compete in League One next season,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment. “Welcome to Wrexham is scoring big too, winning five Emmy Awards and a fourth season that will continue to document the team’s remarkable journey and its impact on the Wrexham community and growing legion of fans worldwide.”

The Emmy-winning series follows the Red Dragons as they move up after years of being a fifth-tier team.

FX offers this lengthy season three synopsis:

“Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) navigate running the 3rd oldest professional football club in the world. Welcome to Wrexham is a docuseries tracking the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class city in North Wales, UK, as two Hollywood stars guide the future of their historic Club.

In 2020, Rob and Ryan teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Red Dragons in the hopes of turning the Club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The world took notice and change is afoot. After fifteen painful seasons in the National League, the Club finally achieved promotion back into the English Football League. The stakes have never been higher as League Two brings a new level of intensity and the Club continues to be plagued with injury and setbacks. Dedicated staff and supporters celebrate the city’s return to glory while bracing for the new-found challenges that come with a return to the EFL. Will Wrexham AFC stand up to the challenge and rise again?

Meanwhile, Wrexham AFC’s Women’s Team, fresh off an undefeated season that saw them promoted to the Welsh Adran Premier League, continue to show why women were meant to be footballers. With new players, a new pitch, and a whole new level of competition, can they continue to dominate and make a name for themselves at the top of the League?

For the first time ever in season three, with the team taking their place in the EFL, Welcome to Wrexham’s cameras will have unprecedented access on the pitch, bringing viewers inside the locker room and alongside the players, while the action is unfolding in some of the biggest matches Wrexham AFC has ever played.”

New episodes of season three stream on Thursdays. Season four will follow the underdog team’s first season as part of League One.

The award-winning series is executive produced by McElhenney, Reynolds, Josh Drisko, Bryan Rowland, Jeff Luini, Humphrey Ker, Nick Frenkel, and George Dewey. The Boys is an unabashed and bold series that continues captivating our customers all over the world by piercing the cultural fabric season after season,” stated said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “We are proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise, and we are thrilled that Eric Kripke and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell for all the loyal fans.”

The eight-episode fourth season will wrap up on July 18, 2024.

The Boys could be the best job I’ll ever have. What other show allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and exploding genitalia, though not in that order,” said Eric Kripke, showrunner. “The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that since this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write about.”

Usher as A-Train, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, and Chace Crawford as The Deep. “In Season Four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader,” reads Prime Video’s synopsis. “The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”
