‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Preview: Cast, Plot, Trailer and Premiere Date

The trailer for Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters not only not offers a good look at Godzilla and other assorted creatures, it also teases that we humans are just kidding ourselves if we believe the Earth belongs to us. Monsters are real, and the top-secret Monarch organization holds the key to combating the threat.

The 10-episode season premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, November 17, 2023 with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes follow on Fridays, with the season finale set for January 12, 2024.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stars the father and son duo of Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, playing the same character – Lee Shaw – in different decades. Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski also star in season one.

“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch,” reads Apple TV+’s official synopsis. “Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”

The Walking Dead fan favorites Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are back together again for season two of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. McBride will be reprising her role as Carol Peletier as a series regular in the upcoming season, which is targeting a 2024 premiere.

Melissa McBride is also on board as an executive producer for season two, officially titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. Reedus, showrunner David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Steve Squillante also executive produce the upcoming season.

AMC broke the news during their panel at the 2023 New York Comic Con. It was also confirmed that McBride’s Carol shows up for the season one finale airing on Sunday, October 15 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!” said McBride.

In addition to Reedus and McBride, the season two cast includes Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney.

Production is currently underway in France.

AMC’s official description of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon:

“Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.”

Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900’s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion.

But Louis’s intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.

48 Hours “Jade Janks and the Secret Photos” Preview

Did a pretty young woman who discovered nude photos of herself on her stepdad’s computer exact revenge by murdering him? CBS’s 48 Hours “Jade Janks and the Secret Photos” explores the case of Jade Janks and her stepfather, Tom Merriman, who was found dead on New Year’s Day 2021.

A 9-1-1 call to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department included details of a supposed confession. A friend of Jade’s told law enforcement that Jade confessed to drugging Tom and then suffocating and strangling him.

Per CBS: “The call triggered a search for Merriman. He was found dead in his driveway, hidden under a pile of trash. Janks was arrested and charged with his murder, but she said she was innocent. She says Merriman, who had just been released from the hospital, had been in poor health and fell asleep in her car. Janks says she found Merriman dead in her car the next morning and panicked and tried to hide his body. When the autopsy came back it seemed to support Janks’ account of the cause of Merriman’s death. Prosecutors were looking for evidence of strangulation. Instead, the autopsy report said Merriman died of a prescription drug overdose.”

48 Hours‘ Tracy Smith digs into the case, and the episode will include new clues that investigators discovered surrounding the murder of Tom Merriman.

“Jade Janks and the Secret Photos” will air on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 10pm ET/PT.
