Netflix has renewed The Sandman starring Tom Sturridge as Dream and Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer for a second season. Netflix didn’t confirm the plot or number of season two episodes but did offer this tease of the new season:
“When last we left Dream (Sturridge) and his friends and foes, the forces of hell were on the move, led by Lucifer themself (Christie). The new episodes of the series will dive into that conflict and continue to explore the many challenges facing the universe in the wake of Morpheus’ century-long absence.”
The series is based on the popular DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman and was developed by Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg. All three are involved as writers and executive producers, with Heinberg also guiding the series as showrunner.
“Millions upon millions of people have welcomed and watched and loved The Sandman on Netflix, from established Sandman fans to people who were simply curious, and then became obsessed with the Lord of Dreams, his family and their goings-on,” stated Neil Gaiman. “It gives me unbelievable pleasure to say that, working with Netflix and Warner Bros., Allan Heinberg, David Goyer and I will be bringing even more of The Sandman stories to life. There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them (not to mention more members of the Endless Family to meet). Nobody is going to be happier about this than the Sandman cast and crew: they are the biggest Sandman fans there are. And now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…”
In addition to Tom Sturridge and Gwendoline Christine, season one featured Boyd Holbrook, Patton Oswalt, Vivienne Acheampong, Charles Dance, Jenna Coleman, David Thewlis, Stephen Fry, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Mason Alexander Park. Donna Preston, Vanesu Samunyai (formerly known as “Kyo Ra”), John Cameron Mitchell, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Joely Richardson, Niamh Walsh, Sandra James-Young, and Razane Jammal also starred in season one.
“I’m profoundly grateful to Netflix and to Warner Bros. — to the artists and crew who made our first 11 episodes so magical — and to the extraordinary fans of The Sandman, who advocated tirelessly — endlessly — on the show’s behalf and made it possible for us to continue telling Morpheus’ story,” said showrunner Allan Heinberg in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.
The history of the world’s most famous mouse unfolds in Mickey: The Story of a Mouse. The Won’t You Be My Neighbor? team of director Jeff Malmberg and producer Morgan Neville dive into the origin of Mickey and examine the mouse’s lasting cultural impact.
Mickey Mouse’s story arrives on Disney+ on Mickey’s birthday, November 18th.
Interview subjects include Eric Goldberg, Mark Henn, Randy Haycock, Floyd Norman, Carmenita Higginbotham, Rebecca Cline, and Kevin Kern. Meghan Walsh and Chris Shellen are involved as producers, and Caitrin Rogers executive produces.
Disney+ released the following description of Mickey: The Story of a Mouse:
“One of the world’s most beloved icons, Mickey Mouse is recognized as a symbol of joy and childhood innocence in virtually every corner of the globe. Dreamed up at a low point in Walt Disney’s burgeoning career, Mickey became an overnight sensation when he starred in the first synch-sound animated short, Steamboat Willie. Through the decades that followed, the character evolved into strikingly different versions of himself that reflect both his creator’s remarkable career and dramatic societal shifts in the nation he came to represent.”
Netflix’s new trailer for Firefly Lane season two part one shows there’s tension between Tully and Kate, but it sort of balances that out by revealing more about their lifelong friendship. Part one of the final season premieres on December 2, 2022, with season two part two arriving in 2023.
Season one of the drama, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, debuted in February 2021 and starred Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as lifelong best friends who stuck by each other’s side through thick and thin. Heigl and Chalke are back as Tully and Kate, respectively, for the second season. They’re joined by returning cast members Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Ali Skovbye as young Tully, Roan Curtis as young Kate, Yael Yurman as Marah, and Beau Garrett as Cloud.
Netflix’s official description:
“What could possibly have ended the tight-knit thirty-year friendship of Tully and Kate, our ‘Firefly Lane Girls Forever?’ We’ll learn the answer this season — but first — Kate grapples with the painful aftermath of Johnny’s ill-fated trip to Iraq, while Tully faces a lawsuit after walking away from her talk show, and must start her career over from the bottom. This leads her to search for answers about who she is and where she comes from — including a quest to find the father she never met, against the wishes of her secretive hippie mother, Cloud.
In the ’80s, we see Kate and Johnny first fall in love, creating more than a little drama in the newsroom where they work, as Tully’s career rises and she spars (and flirts!) with cocky sportscaster Danny Diaz. She just might have met her match — that is, if they can stop arguing for five minutes.
While in the ’70s, teenage Kate and Tully struggle to keep their friendship together as Cloud goes to jail for dealing drugs and Tully goes to live with her grandmother, far away from Firefly Lane. As the girls face the tumult of high school apart, they know the one thing they really need is each other.”
Maggie Friedman guides the series as showrunner and serves as an executive producer along with Katherine Heigl, Shawn Williamson, Michael Spiller, and Stephanie Germain. Season two directors include Michael Spiller, Shannon Kohli, Vanessa Parise, Katina Medina Mora, Monika Mitchell, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Winnifred Jong.
Writers include Maggie Friedman, Savannah Dooley, Becky Hartman Edwards, James Ford Jr, Michael Ross, Barbara Johns, Marissa Lee, and Davah Avena.

The Scooby gang hunts a brain vampire on The CW’s The Winchesters season one episode five. Directed by Lisa Soper from a script by Sehaj Sethi, episode five – “Legend of a Mind” – will air on November 15, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT.
The season one cast includes Drake Rodger as John Winchester, Meg Donnelly as Mary Campbell, Nida Khurshid as Latika, Jonathan “Jojo” Fleites as Carlos, Demetria McKinney as Ada, and Bianca Kajlich as John’s mom, Millie. Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles reprises his role as Dean Winchester to narrate the prequel.
“Legend of a Mind” Plot: SECRETS UNCOVERED – Hidden secrets from Ada’s (McKinney) past comes to light when the gang goes undercover to look into a suspicious death. Still reeling from the last Hunt, Millie (Kajlich) asks Mary (Donnelly) to keep an eye on John (Rodger) as they split off from the others to get intel on the new case. Carlos (Fleites) and Ada’s stakeout connects the victim to the next target. Latika’s (Khurshid) research comes up with some interesting results that lead John to be Mary’s lifeline out of a sticky situation.
Before Sam and Dean, there were their parents, John and Mary. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Ackles), The Winchesters is the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester (Rodger) met Mary Campbell (Donnelly) and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. When John returns home from fighting in Vietnam, a mysterious encounter sparks a new mission to trace his father’s past.
In his journey, he crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary, who is also searching for answers after the disappearance of her own father. Together, the two join forces with young hunter-in-training Latika (Khurshid) and easygoing hunter Carlos (Fleites) to uncover the hidden truths about both their families. Their investigation leads them to a rare book emporium, whose owner Ada (McKinney) takes an interest to the occult and could provide the missing pieces to their puzzle.
But secrets run deep for both the Winchesters and Campbells, and despite the best efforts of John’s mother Millie (Kajlich) to protect her son from pursuing a dangerous life of demon hunting, John and Mary are both determined to work together to uphold their families’ legacies while beginning to form a family of their own.

The fearless wagon hijackers are right outside the huge tower as NBC’s La Brea season two episode six begins. Dressed like Exiles, they approach the guard shack with their wagon load of rocks as Levi, Scott, and Lucas watch from a nearby hiding spot.
The guard doesn’t recognize Gavin (Eoin Macken) and wonders where the normal guy is, and Gavin attempts to talk his way through the situation. Fortunately, he’s better at that than he is at planning things.
Unbeknownst to our heroes, they’re being closely monitored from inside the building. And, unfortunately, Silas (Mark Lee) is lurking nearby too, which sets off the spidey senses of people in the building.
Orders are issued to arrest everyone on the wagon. Silas shoots a few with arrows and Scott’s group attacks the rest. Only Gavin winds up still in custody as the scuffle breaks up. The rest of the group scatters and Scott and Lucas become separated from the pack.
Scott (Rohan Mirchandaney) panics when Lucas, in pain, shows him new burn marks that are the same as on the recently deceased Eddie. Lucas (Josh McKenzie) wants to go on, but Scott forces him to return to the clearing and refuses to let him do so by himself. (Lucas continues his redemption arc while Scott’s in hero mode.)
The big group – Sam, Eve, Levi, and Izzy – tracks Silas, believing he’s their best option to get into the building. But the joke’s on them…Silas is tracking them and holds them at arrow point, demanding they leave him alone. He lets slip that Gavin’s been in the building before and that he was trying to stop him from going in again.
Silas thinks his chances of recovering Gavin are better if they let him do this on his own. (Silas is right.) However, Eve (Natalie Zea) is able to pretty easily talk him into letting them tag along.
Silas delivers an ominous warning about the man who runs the building.
And speak of the devil, that man has got Gavin handcuffed and is questioning him. He frees his restraints as a sign of good faith and introduces himself as James, the man who runs the Lazarus program. And, get this, he’s Gavin’s father!
James hasn’t seen Gavin since he was a baby and claims he’s been looking forward to this reunion for years. James is from Los Angeles in 2076 and says this whole thing is for Gavin. “My dream was to fix the world so that you could have a better future,” says James.
James explains that in the future natural resources are dwindling and that’s why he came to 10,000 BC. They have a huge agricultural area as well as a thriving animal research facility inside this massive building. What they learn, they send to 2076 to stop the depletion and extinction of flora and fauna.
Everything he’s doing is to heal the world. (Do we believe him? No.)
Aldridge, Silas, and Gavin’s mom were part of the team that created this facility. James expresses “deep regrets” over losing everyone, including Gavin, and wants to help Gavin reunite his family.
Dozens of scientists are working near the portal as Gavin gets all excited about stepping through to 1988. Unfortunately, he’s jumped to the wrong conclusion and the portal goes to 2076, according to James.

A Brief Pitstop in 1988
Caroline shows Josh (Jack Martin) and Riley (Veronica St. Clair) a room filled with computers and explains she’s currently working on creating a virus to shut down the Lazarus program. The 10,000 BC portal will continue to generate sinkholes until eventually it swallows everything.
There are people working against her and trying to shut down her work.
Don’t question why but Josh and Riley pass some time in an ice-skating rink, discussing what will happen if the tidal wave hits. They put on skates and hit the ice because Riley insists they can have “five minutes of fun.”
The glitter ball rotates, the lights dim, and “Hungry Eyes” plays as they skate, smile, and hold hands. The skating’s cut short when Caroline radios them and says she’s been found. She tells them to eat their Wheaties which is code for something’s inside the Wheaties box.
Josh and Riley race back and discover Caroline’s place has been trashed. The Wheaties box is still there and inside is some sort of device with a flashing red light. Riley suggests they find her teenage dad, tell him about the building in 10,000 BC, and instruct him to go to the portal down there and meet them in 1988. Whoa, could that possibly work? We’ll find out soon enough…
Riley spots her dad and introduces herself to her stoned, flirting future father. She hands him a note and tells him he needs to commit it to memory. Riley also makes him promise he won’t be in Santa Monica in three days.
She is, understandably, freaking Sam out.

Meanwhile, Back in 10,000 BC
Eve and her party of five arrive at the opening of a passageway into Lazarus. But, of course, there’s a catch. There’s a ginormous bird who attacks anything that comes near the opening.
Eve offers herself up as bait as the others race to the tunnel. Eve’s saved from certain death by her backpack and eventually makes it in with the others. As they’re walking through the tunnel, Sam suddenly has a brand-new memory! Okay, so maybe Riley’s plan wasn’t so far-fetched after all.
He recalls the note said he needs to meet them at the Santa Monica Boardwalk right now.
That’s going to be incredibly difficult since they’ve just been trapped by guards.
Elsewhere in the building, James wants Gavin to stay with him but Gavin just wants to get back to Eve and Izzy. Gavin doesn’t trust his dad, so James shows him one of his baby photos. That leads to a series of questions including why Silas raised him in a village. James begs to be allowed to prove he’s worthy of his son’s trust.
Their conversation’s interrupted by the news intruders have been found in the tunnel.
Gavin runs to hug Izzy and Eve, and then introduces them to James. Silas and James immediately get into an argument. Gavin tries to end it by telling everyone Aldridge was wrong; the portal doesn’t lead to ’88. Sam jumps in with his brand-new memory and contradicts Gavin.
Now it’s Gavin’s turn to realize James is a big fat liar. James covers for himself by saying he just didn’t want to lose his son. Gavin suggests if that’s true, then James should let Silas go and let them use the portal.
Apparently James agrees to allow them to use the portal because the next thing you know they’re standing in front of it. Sam steps through first followed by Levi. Gavin, Eve, and Izzy hold hands and step through it together.
James confesses to a cohort that he only let Gavin go so that he’d come back to him.
Meanwhile back at camp, Judah declares himself the clearing’s new ruler. That goes over like a lead balloon.
Scott and Lucas arrive back at the clearing, and everyone gets to work on helping Lucas. Scott believes a tourniquet will stop the burn virus thingy from spreading. He’s also got a Baby Ruth to ease Lucas’ pain. Plus, Scott reveals he knows Veronica is hot for Lucas.
Veronica and Lucas have a brief heart-to-heart and share their feelings right before Lucas’ condition takes a turn for the worse. The burning virus races through his body and he passes out.
Once more to 1988 we go, and the group locates Riley and Josh on the Boardwalk. There’s a lot of hugging since, for the first time since La Brea began, the entire Harris family is reunited.
The earth begins to shake, rattle, and roll, as Josh and Riley warn the ’88 newbies that a new sinkhole’s about to open.
The episode ends with Riley claiming they may be able to stop any other sinkholes from opening in the future.
