‘A Christmas Story Christmas’ Trailer: The Return of Peter Billingsley as Ralphie

Ralphie gets the gang, including Flick and Schwartz, back together for more holiday adventures in A Christmas Story Christmas. The 2022 sequel to the 1983 holiday classic finds Ralphie, still in possession of both eyes, returning home and now with kids of his own. The trailer shows the Parker family paying tribute to their late beloved dad (played by Darren McGavin, RIP) and getting into more family-friendly mischief.

In addition to Peter Billingsley as Ralphie Parker, the comedy’s cast includes Erinn Hayes (Bill & Ted Face the Music) as Ralphie’s wife, Sandy; Julianna Layne (Prodigal Son) as their daughter, Julie; River Drosche (Miracle Workers) as son Mark; Scott Schwartz returning as Flick; RD Robb returning as Schwartz; Ian Petrella reprising his role as Ralphie’s brother, Randy; Davis Murphy (Looking for Dr. Love) as Delbert Bumpus; Zack Ward returning as Scut Farkus; and Julie Hagerty (Instant Family) as Ralphie’s mom, Mrs. Parker. Melinda Dillon played Mrs. Parker in the original A Christmas Story.

“There was a lot of conversation about doing a sequel much closer to when the original film came out in 1983,” stated Peter Billingsley. “And then, of course, in the early ‘90s… Eventually it seemed like a distant memory, like we’d never be able to do it. But here we are, Ralphie is all grown up, he has his own family, and it’s an opportunity to really take what was so great from the first one and bring so much of that magic back but with a whole new perspective. You see what his dreams are, where his life is now, who his family is. In some ways, waiting this long makes it all the more special because there were so many new characters that we could bring in, and so many of the old fan favorites that we got to explore as well. Always in the back of my mind I’d hoped that this day would come.”

Bob Clark directed the 1983 film and Clay Kaytis (The Christmas Chronicles) is at the helm of the sequel. Kaytis and Nick Schenk wrote the screenplay based on Jean Shepherd’s book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash. Billingsley, Irwin Zwilling, Marc Toberoff, Cale Boyter, and Jay Ashenfelter produce, with Schenk, Mike Drake, and Peter Dodd executive producing.

A Christmas Story Christmas premieres on HBO Max on November 17, 2022.

The Plot, Courtesy of HBO Max:

A Christmas Story Christmas — the long-awaited follow-up to the enduring favorite that fans everywhere keep on their annual must-watch list — is finally arriving, just in time to kick off the holiday season. This heartwarming and humor-filled next chapter in Ralphie Parker’s tale finds him grown, with a family of his own, determined to create an unforgettable Christmas for his kids. Of course, as is tradition in the Parker household, despite “dad’s” best efforts to make those spirits bright, things go comically awry and hijinks ensue in this endearing, relatable slice of family life.”

‘Dangerous Liaisons’ Picked Up for Season 2 Ahead of Season 1

Starz has delivered an early season two renewal order for their new period drama Dangerous Liaisons. The new series is a prequel to Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ classic novel, published in 1782, and centers around the meeting of Marquise de Merteuil (Alice Englert) and Vicomte de Valmont (Nicholas Denton).

The season one cast also includes Leslie Manville as Marquise de Merteuil, Kosar Ali as Victoire, Carice van Houten as Jacqueline de Montrachet, Hilton Pelser as Gabriel Carrè, and Fisayo Akinade as Chevalier de Saint-Jacques. Michael McElhatton plays Jean de Merteuil, Nathanael Saleh is Azolan, Colette Dalal Tchantcho is Ondine de Valmont, Hakeem Kae-Kazim is Majordome, Tom Wlaschiha plays Henri de Montrachet, and Paloma Faith is Florence de Regnier.

“Dangerous Liaisons is addictive, provocative, and beautifully rendered,” said Kathryn Busby, President, Original Programming at STARZ. “This prelude to the famed 18th-century novel illuminates pre-revolution Paris at its most decadent. We are confident that by the end of season one viewers will be craving more scheming and seduction.”

Harriet Warner created the series and serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Colin Callender (Playground), Tony Krantz (Flame Ventures), Scott Huff, and Christopher Hampton are on board as season two executive producers.

“We’re greatly appreciative to STARZ and Lionsgate for their ongoing support of the show. We’re very excited to share Harriet Warner’s brilliant vision for season two, which will see our world expand and the relationships between our characters deepen in thrilling, dangerous new ways,” said executive producer Colin Callender.

Season one will premiere on Starz on November 6, 2022. Production on the just-announced second season is expected to take place in Prague, Czech Republic in early 2023.

The Plot, Courtesy of Starz:

Dangerous Liaisons is a bold prelude of Laclos’ classic 18th-century novel focusing on the origin story of how his iconic characters, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, met as passionate young lovers in Paris on the eve of the revolution. This modern take on a classic story takes audiences through wonder and terror, beauty and degradation, seduction and deception in pre-revolutionary Paris.

Driven to right the wrongs of their past, the young couple’s survival depends on their skills of seduction and manipulation of not only the French nobility but of each other. Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton portray the notorious lovers: Camille who is taken in by the current Marquise de Merteuil (Manville) navigates her own path in a world of men, using the power of secrets to take back control, and Valmont who will stop at nothing to regain his title that was recently taken from him.

Their on-again-off-again love story is the heart of the series. It’s not love… it’s war.”
