‘Shantaram’ New Photos and Trailer Starring Charlie Hunnam

Apple TV+ just released the official trailer for Shantaram, a new drama based on Gregory David Roberts’ bestselling book and starring Charlie Hunnam. The new trailer was accompanied by a batch of photos from the 12-episode season which premieres on October 14, 2022.

Apple TV+ will air the first three episodes on October 14th followed by new episodes on subsequent Fridays. The season will wrap up on December 16, 2022.

Charlie Hunnam says that although the first photo Apple TV+ released from Shantaram featured him riding a motorcycle, this series has nothing else in common with Sons of Anarchy. And his character, Lin Ford, is dramatically different from Jax Teller.

“I thought that was very cheeky that Apple released that image as the first image,” said Hunnam in an interview with EW. “I’m on a motorcycle in the show for approximately two minutes maximum over the course of 12 hours, so I hope people don’t get too excited thinking that this is some sort of Sons of Anarchy in India, because that’s not what we’re delivering. The show is so radically different and the characters are so radically different.”

Joining Charlie Hunnam in the drama are Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, and Alyy Khan. Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph, and Shiv Palekar also star.

Steve Lightfoot adapted Gregory David Roberts’ novel and serves as co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner. Co-creator Eric Warren Singer also executive produces along with Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin, Justin Kurzel, and director Bharat Nalluri.
