The new season of Doctor Who premieres on September 19, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT and today BBC America’s showing off a trailer for the upcoming season. Peter Capaldi returns as the Doctor and Jenna Coleman’s back as Clara, with Michelle Gomez reprising her role as Missy. Also along for the ride this season is Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), a huge Doctor Who fan who nabbed a guest starring role. Additional confirmed guest stars include Reece Shearsmith, Rebecca Front, Rufus Hound, Paul Kaye, Elaine Tan, Neet Mohan, Bethany Black, Paul Courtenay Hyu, Joivan Wade, and Sophie Stone.
Doctor Who will kick off the new season with a two-parter: “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar.” Showrunner Steven Moffat wrote the episodes and Hettie Macdonald directed the two-parter.
The Plot: “In Peter Capaldi’s second season at the helm of the TARDIS, the series sees the Doctor and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) going on a journey that takes them to deadly alien planets, creepy underwater bases, Viking villages, a global Zygon uprising, and through hidden alien dens, to the very end of time itself.
Meeting monsters old and new, the Doctor will come face to face with Missy (Michelle Gomez), a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries called the Mire, terrifying ghosts and more.”
