‘The Originals’ Season 5 Episode 10 Preview and Photos: “There in the Disappearing Light”

The CW’s The Originals season five episode nine found the supernatural community combining forces to take on the nightwalkers. Vincent originally believed the witches should sit this battle out but changed his mind once the nightwalkers bombed a gathering of werewolves.

In the midst of so much destruction, Freya came to her senses – finally – and asked Keelin (Christina Marie Moses) to marry her.

Declan (Torrance Coombs) returned to New Orleans, upset he missed Hayley’s funeral. In a weird twist, he opened up about his loss to Elijah. Declan admitted he was deeply in love but realized Hayley still held a candle for her ex. After a short speech by Elijah, Declan understood he was talking to Hayley’s former boyfriend.

Hope arrived to interrupt the heart-to-heart and attacked Elijah, telling him she hated him. Declan witnessed their exchange and Elijah did the humane thing by wiping his memories and replacing them with the knowledge Hayley is at peace.

Meanwhile, Klaus did his best to watch over Hope. He even earned a kiss on the cheek for his efforts. Unfortunately, even Hope’s father couldn’t stop the noises in her head. She determined the only way to keep them quiet was through violence. Klaus assured her he’d be with her every step of the way.

With just five minutes left in the episode, the opposing forces met in the middle of the city. However, it turned out the nightwalkers weren’t actually in the street and instead used astral projection to find out what side of the war Vincent had chosen. When Vincent said he was willing to die for the werewolves, the nightwalkers poisoned Ivy (Shiva Kalaiselvan) and the witches who were casting a spell to help the injured.

Up next, season five episode 10 titled “There in the Disappearing Light” airing on July 11, 2018. The episode was directed by series star Daniel Gillies from a script by Eva McKenna and Jeffrey Lieber.

The fifth and final season of The Originals stars Joseph Morgan as Klaus, Daniel Gillies as Elijah, Yusuf Gatewood as Vincent, Steven Krueger as Josh, Charles Michael Davis as Marcel, Riley Voelkel as Freya, Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley, Danielle Rose Russell as Hope, Nathaniel Buzolic as Kol, Candice King as Caroline, and Claire Holt as Rebekah.

The “There in the Disappearing Light” Plot: COLLATERAL DAMAGE — Klaus (Morgan) helps Hope (Russell) cope with her pain in an unconventional way. A figure from Elijah’s (Gillies) past comes back seeking help. Elsewhere, Marcel (Davis) takes on the nightwalkers, while Vincent (Gatewood) deals with the fallout of a fateful decision.

The Season 5 Plot: The final season of The Originals begins seven years after the core members of the Mikaelson family – Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol — each absorb a quarter of the Hollow’s dark energy and flee New Orleans in order to keep both their beloved city and young Hope (guest star Summer Fontana) safe. In the interim, Vincent and Josh preside over a Big Easy almost devoid of conflict, while Hayley and Freya watch Hope grow into a teenager, eventually opting to send her to the Salvatore School so that Caroline can keep an eye on her.

With Marcel following Rebekah out of town and Elijah stripped of his memory, the danger seems to be contained… until a sudden tragedy forces the siblings to return home. As the Mikaelsons return to New Orleans, bringing the pieces of a centuries old evil with them, it becomes clear that the closing chapter of this family saga will be as bloody and emotional as ever.
