‘The Originals’ Season 5 Episode 9 Preview and Photos: “We Have Not Long to Love”

The CW’s The Originals season five episode eight was a heartbreaking stroll down memory lane for the Mikaelsons. Locked in a magical mental prison, the Mikaelson clan were forced into reliving old memories in order to find the keys needed to escape.

Klaus revisited his time with Hayley, including a sweet memory of how he and Hayley settled on the name Hope. Elijah had called Hayley the Mikaelson’s “hope,” and the name seemed perfect to describe their child. Klaus also discovered that Elijah was deliberately keeping his memories at bay. By the end of the episode, Klaus joined his brother to break through a fiery red door and allow the memories to flow. Elijah was overcome with their return, breaking down as the full impact of his actions hit him while he relived Hayley’s fiery death.

Up next, season five episode nine titled “We Have Not Long to Love.” Directed by Bethany Rooney from a script by K.C. Perry and Michelle Paradise, episode nine airs on June 20, 2018.

The fifth and final season of The Originals stars Joseph Morgan as Klaus, Daniel Gillies as Elijah, Yusuf Gatewood as Vincent, Steven Krueger as Josh, Charles Michael Davis as Marcel, Riley Voelkel as Freya, Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley, Danielle Rose Russell as Hope, Nathaniel Buzolic as Kol, Candice King as Caroline, and Claire Holt as Rebekah.

The “We Have Not Long to Love” Plot: TAKING THE POWER BACK — As Vincent (Gatewood), Marcel (Davis) and Josh (Steven Krueger) work to clean up the city, an uprising of purist vampires leads the supernatural factions into a deadly showdown. Hope’s (Russell) attempt to bring her family back together leaves her struggling with the consequences. Finally, Freya (Voelkel) makes a life-changing decision.

The Season 5 Plot: The final season of The Originals begins seven years after the core members of the Mikaelson family – Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol — each absorb a quarter of the Hollow’s dark energy and flee New Orleans in order to keep both their beloved city and young Hope (guest star Summer Fontana) safe. In the interim, Vincent and Josh preside over a Big Easy almost devoid of conflict, while Hayley and Freya watch Hope grow into a teenager, eventually opting to send her to the Salvatore School so that Caroline can keep an eye on her.

With Marcel following Rebekah out of town and Elijah stripped of his memory, the danger seems to be contained… until a sudden tragedy forces the siblings to return home. As the Mikaelsons return to New Orleans, bringing the pieces of a centuries old evil with them, it becomes clear that the closing chapter of this family saga will be as bloody and emotional as ever.
