‘The Penguin’ Offers a First Teaser with Series Star Colin Farrell

Any qualms fans might have had about The Penguin have probably been put to rest with the release of the first footage from the Max Original series. The one-minute teaser features Oscar nominee Colin Farrell, once again unrecognizable as he reprises his role as Oswald Cobblepot/ The Penguin from writer/director Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

The eight-episode series is expected to premiere on Max (the new name of HBO Max) in 2024.

Joining Colin Farrell in the series are Cristin Milioti (Made for Love) as Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Sofia; Clancy Brown (John Wick: Chapter 4) as Salvatore Maroni; and Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Carmine’s son, Alberto. The cast also includes Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell.

Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) serves as writer, showrunner, and executive produces along with Colin Farrell, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pipski, Bill Carraro, and Matt Reeves through his 6th & Idaho production company. Two-time Emmy nominee Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) executive produces and directs the first three episodes.

The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright opened in theaters on March 2, 2022. The PG-13-rated superhero film earned three Oscar nominations – Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound, and Best Achievement in Visual Effects.
