‘The Happytime Murders’ Redband Trailer: No Sesame, All Street

The Happytime Murders is a movie with puppets and it’s directed by the son of Jim Henson, but it’s definitely not a normal, kid-friendly Muppets movie. The raunchy new restricted trailer is meant for adults who aren’t easily offended. And given it’s restricted nature, it’s a trailer you don’t want to be caught watching while at work.

The Happytime Murders is directed by Brian Henson and is the first feature film from Henson Alternative. The behind the scenes team includes director of photography Mitchell Amundsen, production designer Chris Spellman, editor Brian Olds, and costume designer Arjun Bhasin, with music by Christopher Lennertz.

The cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale, Elizabeth Banks, Leslie David Baker, and Bill Barretta.

The Happytime Murders is set to open in theaters on August 24, 2018.

The Plot: Set in Los Angeles, The Happytime Murders explores a world where humans and puppets coexist. Like most humans, puppets run the gamut of personalities, occupations, interests, and vices. Although puppets are living among humans, they are still viewed as second-class citizens during discrimination, bigotry, and violence as they attempt to find their place in the world, living with as much dignity as possible even though they’re stuffed with fluff.

The film focuses on the fractured relationship between Melissa McCarthy as LAPD Detective Connie Edwards, a volatile veteran of the force with issues and a wicked sugar addiction, and Bill Barretta as Phil Phillips, her disgraced former puppet partner. They were once a star team and the pride of the department until an incident led to Phillips’ dismissal.

Having left the LAPD, Phillips is now a private investigator, “fighting for the felt” in the City of Angels. When several cast members of The Happytime Gang — a beloved children’s program from the 90’s — are murdered, Edwards and Phillips must begrudgingly reunite to track down the serial killer. Hilarity ensues as they fall into their old routine of constant bickering and trading insults while they infiltrate the fuzzy underbelly of Los Angeles.

History confirmed the dramatic series Knightfall will be returning for a second season. In addition, the series has added Mark Hamill (the Star Wars film franchise), Tom Forbes (The Bastard Executioner), and Genevieve Gaunt (The Royals) to the cast of season two in key roles.

“In the face of ever-increasing competition, we’re proud of History’s track record of producing signature drama series that are epic in scope with complex characters,” stated Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President of Programming, History. “Whether it’s the legendary Knights Templar, the extraordinary tale of medieval Norsemen, or the story of a formerly classified United States Air Force program investigating UFOs during the Cold War, these series reflect our commitment to bringing the defining, big canvas stories of history to life. We look forward to offering our viewers a grittier, darker Knightfall in season two and welcoming Mark to the cast.”

The first season of the series starring Tom Cullen (Downton Abbey, Gunpowder) reached 25 million viewers. Aaron Helbing (The Flash, Spartacus: War of the Damned) will be the season two showrunner and will executive produce with Midnight Radios’ Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg. Don Handfield and Richard Rayner serve as creators and executive producers for The Combine, with Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (The Town, The Hurt Locker) also executive producing. Knightfall also has Cyrus Voris (Legends), Ethan Reiff (Legends), Rick Jacobson (Ash vs Evil Dead), Barry Jossen, and Arturo Interian on board as executive producers.

Announcing the new cast, History released details on the characters Hamill, Gaunt, and Forbes will be playing:

  • Mark Hamill will play the role of “Talus,” a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran of the Crusades, who survived captivity for ten years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order.
  • Tom Forbes has been cast as “Prince Louis,” the violent and unpredictable son of King Philip and heir to the throne.
  • Genevieve Gaunt is “Isabella,” the daughter of King Philip and well on her way to becoming the woman who history would call “the she-wolf of France.”

The Plot: Knightfall goes inside the medieval politics and warfare of the Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages who were entrusted with protecting Christianity’s most precious relics. The story of the Knights Templar has never been fully told until now, and Knightfall goes deep into the clandestine world of this legendary brotherhood of warrior monks to learn who these knights were, how they lived, and what they died believing.

The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. First Photos: ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Starring Kiernan Shipka

Netflix has unveiled the first official photos from the upcoming series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The new series, which is based on the popular comics, stars Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman/Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Netflix will premiere the original series on October 26, 2018.

In addition to Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, Feud: Bette and Joan), the cast includes Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, Bronson Pinchot, and Gavin Leatherwood.

In January when the news of Shipka’s casting in the lead role broke, writer/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale) said, “We’re all such huge fans of Kiernan’s work that when we started talking about who this new incarnation of Sabrina could be, her name was on everyone’s wish list. This is a darker, more macabre version of Sabrina, and we’re incredibly excited for people to see Kiernan make this iconic character her own.”

Joining Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as executive producers are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwate, and Lee Toland Krieger. The series comes from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions.

The Plot: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

Rob Riggle and Eliza Coupe Interview: ‘Rob Riggle’s Ski Master Academy,’ ‘Future Man’ and ‘Night School’

Rob Riggle can always be counted on to turn in a funny performance in comedies like Step Brothers, 21 Jump Street or the upcoming Night School. Now he has his own comedy series coming to Crackle. Rob Riggle’s Ski Master Academy is Riggle opening a jet ski school and hilarity ensues.

Eliza Coupe joins Riggle in Ski Master Academy and they both spoke with Showbiz Junkies at a Crackle reception for the Television Critics Association. Rob Riggle’s Ski Master Academy premieres August 23, 2018 on Crackle, but Fire TV users get a preview through their Sony Crackle app starting August 13.

You got your name above the title. Do you play Rob Riggle?

Rob Riggle: “Yes, I’m playing me, a heightened version of myself who’s dumber.”

Eliza Coupe: “You know what, he’s more full of himself and naive, optimistically stupid.”

Rob Riggle: “You might find people who argue ‘It’s him, I don’t see any difference.’ And then there will be some people who say, ‘No, he’s playing a heightened version of himself.'”

Eliza Coupe: “He’s playing a character.”

Rob Riggle: “Yes, to answer your question.”

How did this come about? Are you a proficient jet skier?

Rob Riggle: “Oddly enough, ironically enough, yes. I own a jet ski down at the Lake of the Ozarks.”

Eliza Coupe: “Is this true and I didn’t even know this?”

Rob Riggle: “I have that lake house down at the Lake of the Ozarks and I have a WaveRunner and a boat. I grew up on the lake since I’m five. So I’m very familiar with the personal watercraft world. However, I’ve had this idea for like five years and finally got around to pitching it. Sony Crackle had the guts and vision to go for it. I called in favors of friends and asked people to come in and play that I wanted to play with. We got the best cast that we probably could’ve ever asked for or hoped for. Everybody brought it and I’m very proud of it.”

If you were thinking about it for five years, what was that passion for this show?

Rob Riggle: “Because the title made me laugh. It was originally titled Rob Riggle’s Jet Ski Academy. You tell people the title and they’re like, ‘I want to know more. Tell me more.'”

Eliza Coupe: “You say it and people laugh. I said where I was going today and everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t wait to see that.'”

And you’re able to do Ski Master Academy and Future Man?

Eliza Coupe: “Yes, right now I’m doing both today.”

Rob Riggle: “See what a trooper she is coming out here supporting this after an 18-hour day yesterday on Future Man.”

Eliza Coupe: “Yeah, it’s what you do.”

Do you get to ride jet skis on the show?

Eliza Coupe: “Yeah, I was the only one. I did a lot of stunts in the little pond up at Calamigos Ranch. We do a lot of stunts up there.”

Rob Riggle: “We don’t have the super budget yet. Once this is a hit we’ll have the budget. We had to film, we had to actually write into the script why we weren’t on the water. So, it became a running joke that our cadets never got on the water. They had to stay in ground school for most of the academy. Then we got one day of filming out on the lake.”

Eliza Coupe: “But it’s going to be a big blockbuster and probably made into a blockbuster Michael Bay thing.”

Rob Riggle: “It’s that level. It’s Bay level financing.”

Is doing a fictional version of yourself anything like being a Daily Show correspondent?

Rob Riggle: “Totally, you heighten yourself. That’s what it is. It’s your name but you just heighten your character.”

Do you have more of a script for Ski Master Academy than a Daily Show segment?

Rob Riggle: “Yes, oh, definitely. It was all scripted. We had amazing writers, great producers and a great cast. Like any comedy, you find yourself in the moment, you improvise a lot, this one especially.”

Eliza Coupe: “We had a good time.”

Rob Riggle: “It takes on a life of its own.”

Did any of the characters change when you got your friends to play them?

Rob Riggle: “Dialogue changed but the characters, we always knew what their intentions were going to be. We let them have a lot of leeway on the dialogue.”

What can we expect from Future Man season two?

Rob Riggle: “It’s out of control, crazier than you could ever imagine, truly. There’s sh*t in there that barely makes sense. Actually, it all checks out but we just got the scripts for 111 and 112. I’m like, ‘Wait…’ and the writers break it down for me because it’s so complicated. It’s awesome. It’s going to be so fun.”

So, they’re messing with time even more?

Eliza Coupe: “Oh yeah, they mess with everything.”

Do you have more cool stunts on Future Man?

Eliza Coupe: “It’s different. There are stunts for sure, but you’ll never see the stuff coming that happens in this season.”

Rob, what do you play in Night School?

Rob Riggle: “I played Big Mac, a student, a night school student along with Kevin (Hart) and a great ensemble of comedians. Mary Lynn Rajskub, Al Madrigal, Anne Winters, Romany Malco, great group.”

Do you get funny moments?

Rob Riggle: “Oh yeah. Everybody gets their moments to have some fun. Kevin’s very gracious, Tiffany’s very gracious. They’re really fun to play with. Like most comedies I’ve done, you try to play a scene or a bit or your character, you try to get a rise out of the other person you’re playing with. That’s what we did and we had a blast.”

You do so many different things, including a vodka company. How many different things do you have going at once?

Rob Riggle: “Oh, in show business and life you’ve got to have five irons in the fire at all times. Just because there’s no finish line. I eat what I kill so you’ve got to be working all the time. It never stops. I’m learning a lot too from Kevin Hart. Have you ever noticed he never stops?”

He has two or three shows on and all these movies and standup.

Rob Riggle: “You’ve always got to have things going because one thing gets going, great, but until then, you always have to be working.”

‘Manifest’ – Josh Dallas Interview on Starring in a Series He Describes as ‘Lost’ Meets ‘This Is Us’

Josh Dallas is returning to series television after seven seasons of playing Prince Charming on Once Upon a Time with a starring role in NBC’s Manifest. The new dramatic series centers around the passengers and a crew of a plane that was assumed to have crashed five years ago. In a bizarre twist, the airplane lands and not a soul on board has aged a day in the five years the plane’s been missing. Plus, the passengers and crew have no idea there’s anything extraordinary about their flight. To those on board Montego Air Flight 828, only a few hours have passed between when they took off and when they landed.

NBC brought series stars Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh along with executive producer Jeff Rake to the 2018 San Diego Comic Con to introduce the new series. In addition to participating in a Q&A with Comic Con attendees, Dallas, Roxburgh, and Rake took part in roundtable interviews in which they provided the scoop on what viewers can expect when they tune in to check out Manifest.

Manifest is set to premiere on NBC on September 24, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT.

Josh Dallas Manifest Interview:

What attracted you to Manifest?

Josh Dallas: “I set out to find something that was a hook for me, that I felt emotionally invested in. When I read the pilot script for Manifest it was this plane goes missing five and a half years ago and all of a sudden it lands again but no time has passed for the people on the plane. Immediately I wanted to know more. I wanted to know how that worked, what happens to a family, what happens interrupted lives? What happens to a father with twins and a wife back at home?

Ben Stone has a son who’s dying of a terminal illness – cancer – and at the time they get on the plane there’s no cure for this cancer. When they land again, there is a cure for this cancer. It was also developed by another passenger who was on the plane. What does that mean? I think all the passengers that were on this plane are going to have interconnected lives, which is going to be really interesting in different ways that they’re not aware of. We’re going to discover that as we go along.

Ben is a mathematician. He’s a man of science. He has a scientific mind. He wants concrete answers. He wants solutions. He wants to find the truth about things. He’s going to set out on this obsessive path, this obsessive journey to figure out what happened to them on that plane, for good or bad.

It’s a show about hope. It’s a show about second chances. It’s about what do you do, what are the choices that you make when you get a second chance. There’s so much. It’s an emotionally rich landscape. It’s Lost meets This Is Us.”

Do you have any theories about what happened on the plane?

Josh Dallas: “I mean, I have many theories about what happened – none that I’m going to discuss right here at the table. (Laughing). And, I also don’t actually know what (series creator) Jeff Rake has in his mind. I don’t know what the actual mystery is and I don’t want to know. I want to discover it along with Ben. I’m going to be figuring it out along with the audience.”

So Ben’s approaching it from the scientific angle and doesn’t think it might be something like divine intervention?

Josh Dallas: “That’s where Ben’s going. He doesn’t think that that’s part of it. He doesn’t think God or any kind of spiritual connection has anything to do with it. He thinks there’s an earthly reality; there’s some kind of logical explanation to this thing. They just haven’t found the answer yet.”

How different is Ben Stone from Prince Charming?

Josh Dallas: “I think they do differ. They differ a lot. Ben’s a flawed man. I think he’s a great family man, like Prince Charming. I think he loves his family, but he becomes very obsessed. He can become very single-minded and have blinders on. He’ll be doing something for the good of the family or for the love of something, but he tends to get very focused and things get left behind. I think with that kind of mind you can become obsessive. The negative parts of that are you can be impulsive. You can be erratic. You can be insensitive sometimes. But, ultimately, he’s a guy that can be very self-aware and I think that softens his edges a little.

He’s a great character to play and I’m discovering him as we go along.”

Is it helpful for you as an actor to not know the answers?

Josh Dallas: “I think it depends on the project. For me, on this one project I thought it would be really helpful.”

How do the events affect the relationship between Ben and his sister?

Josh Dallas: “They are the best of friends, the best of enemies. They have a deep, deep love for each other and I do think that they do think differently. They approach things differently. I think Michaela (played by Melissa Roxburgh) after it lands and as we go forward trying to figure out what this mystery is that happens I think they’re going to approach it slightly differently.

Like I said, Ben is a man of science and he’s going to search for something concrete, something logical. And I think Michaela is going to lean toward other possibilities – it could be spiritual, it could be something else.

I think they’re going to be a great team. I think their differences are going to make them very strong as a duo.”

Did you do any prep to play a mathematician?

Josh Dallas: “I did long division every night. I did algebra and a bit of trig. (Laughing) No. But as far as research goes there’s great books written by a lot of scientists that I’ve been reading right now. One called Fact Versus Faith which is a great book. Ben’s kind of model is the great thing about science is it’s true whether or not you believe it. That’s the way he thinks. So, I’m reading a lot of books that talk about science versus theology.”

In this scenario, would you rather be one of the people on the plane or one of the people who gets their loved one back after five years?

Josh Dallas: “I don’t know. I don’t know the answer to that question because you lose and you win some in both situations. It’s a really tough, unbelievable situation. This is a high concept mystery wrapped in a very emotionally rich family drama. And it’s about these very ordinary people going through something extraordinary, and what do you do when you get a second chance? What do you do? What are the choices that you make? Will you do something difficult? These are all questions that they’re all going to have to answer.

Life has moved on for the people that were left behind. They were just at that point, five and a half years later, just starting to get their life back together in some kind of way and move on and all of a sudden it’s interrupted again. For the people on the plane, it was just a flight. There was some turbulence, but it was just a flight. They come back and life is completely different. It’s a world that they have no idea about and they’re strangers so they’re going to have to figure this out and rediscover who they are, who their families are, and how they move forward.”

When AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead returns for the second half of season four it’s with a scene of hurricane-force winds literally tossing walkers into the sky. Season four episode nine titled “People Like Us” catches up with the survivors as Morgan considers a return to Alexandria while Victor turns to wine to make it through the zombie apocalypse.

Season four episode nine finds Morgan (Lennie James) takes out walkers, searching his body for supplies. He finds items including protein bars and canned goods, and uses a walkie-talkie to check in with Al (Maggie Grace). Morgan and Al talk like old friends, and he admits he’s ready to head home. He asks if she’ll drive him.

Next, Morgan pays a visit to Naomi/Laura/June (Jenna Elfman) and John (Garret Dillahunt). John’s moving slowly but seems in good spirits overall. They’ve made their home in a school bus, but Morgan wants them to go with him to Virginia. Morgan’s decided he never should have left Alexandria, Virginia, in the first place. John doesn’t think his body’s up to the trip and he reveals he’s thinking of taking June and Charlie back to his cabin. His cabin’s far but it’s definitely not “Virginia far.”

Morgan lets his friends know he’s leaving tomorrow. He hopes John will change his mind. “I appreciate the offer. I do. But, I think I’ve got everything I need right here,” replies John.

Victor (Colman Domingo) has taken over a gorgeous home complete with an extensive wine cellar. Morgan searches the house for Luciana (Danay Garcia) and finds her relaxing on pillows on the floor, listening to music on the record player. He lets her know he’s about to embark on a road trip with Al.

Victor chuckles about the idea of taking off on another trip and Luciana is adamant she’s never getting inside Al’s van again. They don’t want to go out among the walkers and are comfortable staying put where it’s relatively safe.

Morgan asks about Alicia and Victor explains she prefers not to live in the main house.

Morgan finds Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) outside at the fence line staking walkers. He found notes with requests for help in the room where she was sleeping, and he offers to help her in any way he can. She reveals she doesn’t know who wrote the notes but that she’s been finding them attached to the walkers. She keeps attracting the walkers to the fence in hopes of learning more info about the person who needs help.

Morgan tells her his plans to head back to Virginia and says she should join him. “I think it would be good for you and I think you could do a lot of good there,” says Morgan. Alicia doesn’t want to leave because she needs to help whoever it is that’s reaching out through the walkers. Morgan tells her she has until the morning to change her mind.

Back at the bus, June tends to John’s wounds. They chat about fishing and then June confesses she heard John say he wants to return to the cabin. He admits it’s just an idea he had. As they talk they hear a walker down by the river. It’s about to attack Charlie when Al saves the day.

A walker’s made its way into Victor and Luciana’s house and is on the verge of attacking Luciana when Victor grabs it. Luciana’s listening to her music and has no idea Victor’s killing a walker with a wine bottle. He decides it’s time to find the breach in the fence.

June tries to get Charlie to talk about almost being attacked by a walker, but she remains silent. Apparently, Charlie rarely speaks.

John, June, and Al watch walkers floating by in the river and John admits that only happens when something is wrong upstream. Al volunteers to check it out with June since she isn’t leaving with Morgan until the next morning.

Morgan’s back at his place packing up when Alicia interrupts with the news she’s figured out where the person is who needs help. The note was tacked to the dead with a bolt from a nearby lumber mill.

Morgan and Alicia head out, knowing the lumber mill is most likely overrun with walkers.

June and Al are forced to temporarily stop the van when they come upon a large tree placed across the road. Near it is a box of supplies with a note on the lid that reads: “Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. See you further on up the road.” (The items are the ones taken by Morgan off of the walkers he killed.)

Al, of course, wants to get footage before they continue their trip.

While they’re walking, June asks what John said about her during his video interview. Al confirms people talked about Naomi and Laura, but no one mentioned a “June.”

Morgan wonders what will happen after they rescue these people. Alicia doesn’t know why he cares, given that he’s leaving tomorrow. Morgan explains he left his old group without even saying goodbye, and they don’t even know if he’s alive at this point. He also reveals he left right after his friend told him he’d find his way back to people. He wants to let his friend know he was right. “I think he deserves to know, because he was,” says Morgan.

A walker approaches with another note, ending their conversation.

Victor and Luciana fix the fence, satisfied it’ll work to keep the walkers out. Luciana admits she doesn’t know what’s left or what to fight for, and Victor confesses he’s been asking the same questions. However, he’s going to drink wine while he considers the answers.

Morgan and Alicia arrive at the lumber yard and Alicia wants to rush right in. Morgan advises her they should be cautious, but Alicia doesn’t listen.

John’s killing time waiting for June to return by creating a Scrabble game board and pieces. Charlie, still not talking, agrees to play. John says back in the day he didn’t talk much either, and that bad things ate away at him. He says that by telling June what he did and how he feels, it allowed him to forgive himself. Charlie listens and it seems she’s about to speak but then doesn’t.

John leaves her for a few minutes to go kill a walker and while he’s gone, Charlie packs her backpack and takes off.

John heads over to Victor’s place and asks for his help searching for Charlie. John is physically incapable of doing it on his own and Victor reminds him he doesn’t care for Charlie. “What makes you think I would help? She shot my friend,” says Victor. John isn’t about to give up and considers that Victor owes him since he took a bullet to the gut.

Victor finally agrees, but John needs to drive since Victor’s consumed a considerable amount of wine.

Back at the lumber yard, Alicia and Morgan enter the main building and see walkers surrounding a closed door. Together Morgan and Alicia devise a plan to lure the walkers outside. They smash them with a load of lumber before heading back inside to rescue the note writer.

Alicia opens the door only to discover the note writer has turned into a walker. Alicia’s devastated. She believes her mom would have reached the man in time, but she failed. She recalls being out looking for people for a long time – something she was good at. “I’ve got a lot to make up for,” says Alicia. “I do, too,” replies Morgan.

Morgan thinks Alicia’s sleeping in the greenhouse and searching for lost people so she has an excuse to run away. He believes she should be there to help Victor and Luciana, just like her mother would. She reminds him he’s leaving when he should actually stay there for them.

Al is taping walkers in the river when June asks to speak to her without the camera rolling. June says John fell in love with Laura but that’s not the real her. She feared everything and ran away. That’s who she is and now if they return to the cabin, John will realize she’s not the Laura he remembers.

Al reminds her that who she is today is the woman nursing John back to health. She’s not the person she was before. Al, who is reluctant to give advice, helps June figure things out. As they talk, they spot a flock of birds in the sky. June is certain they need to return home quickly.

John drives while Victor drinks wine. Victor checks out buildings they pass but there’s no sign of Charlie. John tells Victor he hopes to return to his cabin after things are sorted out, and Victor wonders what they’ll do after that.

Morgan and Alicia head back but now it’s pouring rain. Morgan realizes they need to find a safe place to take cover, but Alicia stubbornly insists she’s fine on her own.

Luciana’s listening to her records when she hears thunder. A noise in the other room sets her on edge and she picks up a gun to find out what’s happening. She spots Charlie and gives chase. Luciana catches up with her, but Charlie escapes the house without saying a word.

After Charlie leaves, Luciana discovers Charlie returned The Little Prince book. Luciana takes off running trying to catch up with Charlie.

June radios John telling him a storm’s coming. They lose contact as Al almost loses control of her armored van. Al can’t drive in 100 mph wind and as they try and figure out what to do a walker lands on their windshield. Soon the van’s being pelted by walkers driven into the air by the hurricane-force winds.

‘Lizzie’ with Kristen Stewart and Chloe Sevigny Unveils a New Trailer and Poster

The latest reimagining of the Lizzie Borden double murder case just released a new trailer and poster. Lizzie, starring Chloë Sevigny as Lizzie Borden and Kristen Stewart as housekeeper Bridget Sullivan, explores the events surrounding the still-unsolved double murder. The feature film theorizes the killings were a result of years of Lizzie’s father’s abusive behavior and that the murders were committed by Lizzie with Bridget’s knowledge. In truth, no one knows for sure whether Lizzie killed her parents in 1892, but no other person has ever been charged with the murders of Andrew and Abby Borden.

The cast also includes Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, Fear the Walking Dead), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story), Jeff Perry (Scandal), Fiona Shaw (the Harry Potter films), and Jamey Sheridan (Homeland). Craig William Macneill (Channel Zero) directed from a script by Bryce Kass. Chloë Sevigny, Naomi Despres and Liz Destro produced the period drama, and Elizabeth Stillwell, Roxanne Fie Anderson, and Edward J. Anderson executive produced.

Saban Films and Roadside Attractions have set a September 14, 2018 theatrical release date.

The Plot: In 1892, Lizzie Borden, a seemingly proper young lady from an upstanding Massachusetts family, was accused of brutally murdering her father and stepmother. Although she was tried and acquitted by an all-male jury, no other suspect was ever located. More than a century later, the crime continues to fascinate, puzzle and repulse. Did Lizzie really kill her parents? If so, what drove her to commit such an unthinkable act? And if she didn’t, who did?

Lizzie delves deep into the circumstances surrounding the notorious unsolved murders, as Lizzie and her housemaid Bridget Sullivan inch their way into a forbidden romance that shocks the family and sparks an unthinkable act of violence. The film explodes some of the many myths that have grown up around Borden in a compelling snapshot of two passionate and unconventional women trapped in the constrained life of 19th-century New England.
