The Baywatch gang introduced a “Fuchsia” trailer, Johnny Knoxville starred in a teaser video he was knocked unconscious filming, and both George Clooney and Julianne Moore poked fun at Matt Damon during Paramount Pictures’ presentation at the 2017 CinemaCon. Paramount’s jam-packed panel took place on day two of the gathering of National Association of Theatre Owners members, with attendees treated to the first footage from films including Suburbicon, Annihilation starring Natalie Portman and Oscar Isaac, Downsizing, and Amusement Park, as well as 15 minutes of Transformers: The Last Knight. Release dates were also confirmed for the new Cloverfield film (Oct 27) and Daddy’s Home 2 (Nov 10) which will add the granddads to the mix.

The presentation kicked off with “lifeguards” parading through the audience before posing on stage as Baywatch star Dwayne Johnson, obviously enjoying being the ringmaster, introduced his co-stars. Johnson worked the crowd and dubbed Baywatch the craziest, sexiest, funniest R-rated movie of the summer season. He also called Team Baywatch – Zac Efron, Jon Bass, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, and Kelly Rohrbach – the Avengers of the Beach. After Efron explained Baywatch is an attitude of being the best at everything, the gang unveiled a new “Fuchsia” – F*cking Unbelievable for pervasive hotness, comedy and action – trailer which was met with enthusiastic applause.

Paramount’s winning the star-power battle thus far at CinemaCon, bringing director George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Julianne Moore on stage to talk about Suburbicon. Clooney and Damon joked about knocking over casinos in Vegas, commenting on how one was just robbed this week. “They used guns and hoods. All we needed was Brad Pitt,” said Damon. Clooney and Damon also laughed about the film’s release date, saying going up against the new Thor film on November 3, 2017 is no big deal. Clooney explained Thor has a swarthy, good-looking man in the lead and he has…Matt. Continuing the “pick on Matt” theme, Clooney asked Julianne Moore who was a better co-star: Oscar Isaac or Matt Damon? Moore laughed and said she’s lucky to get to work with those two, and then described Oscar Isaac as talented and handsome, while only complimenting Matt Damon on being 5’10” tall.

Clooney asked Damon what it was like to be directed by Batman, and Matt laughed and said he almost forgot George played the part. After Damon poked fun at his nippled Batsuit, Clooney joked, “I wore that thing with rubber nipples and I still have a career. I’m a superhero!” Following their witty banter, Clooney introduced the first footage from Suburbicon which he describes as a movie about good people making bad choices.

President of Paramount’s Motion Picture Group Marc Evans confirmed Mission Impossible 6 will begin production this month and is expected to shoot in India, Paris, and New Zealand. It will also be the first of the MI films in IMAX 3D. Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Alec Baldwin will be joined by Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke, and Henry Cavill. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie is directing and Paramount has set a July 27, 2018 theatrical release date.

Matt Damon pulled double duty during Paramount’s presentation, representing Suburbicon and Downsizing. Prior to screening 10 minutes of incredibly entertaining footage, Damon introduced director Alexander Payne who’s making his third film with Paramount. Payne says he’s knee-deep in editing Downsizing which involves Norwegian scientists discovering a way to shrink humans down to mere inches as a means to combat over-population. Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig play a married couple who decide to take the leap and go small. Expect to see Downsizing in theaters on December 22, 2017.

The presentation ended with director Michael Bay and a few of his Transformers: The Last Knight stars – Anthony Hopkins, Mark Wahlberg, Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner, and Jerrod Carmichael – taking the stage. Bay reiterated that he firmly believes in 3D and in films being seen on the big screen as they’re intended. Hopkins revealed he nicknamed Bay Speedy Gonzalez and said his fast style didn’t leave much time to talk. Hopkins also said Bay’s the best and he had a great time on the set.

The CW’s The Originals season four episode two found all of the Mikaelsons revived, however Klaus still needed to be rescued. Elijah put it best when he declared they would do whatever was necessary, including burning down New Orleans, to free Niklaus. Rebekah counted on Marcel’s attraction to keep him occupied (and her safe) while Hayley, Freya and Elijah searched the tunnels for Klaus as Kol babysat Josh so he couldn’t tell Marcel their plans. Meanwhile, Klaus was visited by a dead Cami who encouraged him to get off his butt, using his longing to see his daughter as a means to motivate him. Elijah took on Marcel, Hayley stepped in, and Freya and a freed Klaus stabbed Marcel with the Tunde blade. Marcel didn’t die and decided to be merciful, making a deal with the reunited Mikaelsons that will allow them to live.

Up next, The Originals season four episode three titled ‘Haunter of Ruins’ airing on March 31, 2017. Episode three was directed by Jeff Hunt from a script by Carina Adly Mackenzie and Declan de Barra. The cast of season four includes Joseph Morgan as Klaus, Charles Michael Davis as Marcel, Daniel Gillies as Elijah, Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley, Yusef Gatewood as Vincent, Riley Voelkel as Freya, and Summer Fontana as Hope.

The ‘Haunter of Ruins’ Plot: FATHERS & DAUGHTERS — After five long years apart, Klaus (Morgan) attempts to reconnect with his daughter, Hope (Fontana). Even as father and daughter bond, the rest of the family is still in turmoil. Elijah (Gillies) mediates a conflict between Hayley and Freya (Voelkel) to determine the best way to protect the family. Meanwhile, in New Orleans, Vincent (Gatewood) tells Marcel (Davis) terrible secrets about his ex -wife, Eva Sinclair, even as they begin their search for a mysterious witch who plans to sacrifice a group of innocent children – including Hope Mikaelson.

STX Entertainment took to the stage on day two of CinemaCon, presenting updates and details on their lineup of films including the announcement that Robert Rodriguez will be directing the Ugly Dolls animated film hitting theaters on May 19, 2019, and Eddie Murphy will provide a voice in an untitled movie about a young bull. It was also revealed that Elton John is on board to produce an animated Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat film. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice are writing new songs for the movie which will also feature the original songs from the musical.

STX Film Chief Adam Fogelson made a point of saying the studio will continue to be committed to working with female filmmakers, pointing to the success of Bad Moms. And Bad Moms star Mila Kunis helped promote the comedy’s upcoming sequel, Bad Moms Christmas, which is supposed to begin production next month. Kunis called Bad Moms relatable, honest, and grounded in reality as well as being hilarious.

An impressive, visually stunning new trailer for STX’s big sci-fi project, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, debuted and seemed to have won over the audience of National Association of Theatre Owners members. Director Luc Besson and Valerian star Cara Delevingne teamed up on stage at CinemaCon, with Besson revealing he’s been wanting to make this film for decades. Delevingne was as impressed with the trailer as the crowd, joking that she needed someone to pinch her after watching it for the first time. Delevingne also proudly revealed she performed her own stunts for the sci-fi action adventure film.

STX’s presentation also included the debut of footage from Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game starring Jessica Chastain. Sorkin and Chastain shared the stage to promote the directorial debut of Sorkin, with Chastain saying she’s a fan of the film’s theme of female empowerment. Sorkin, who compared directing Chastain to driving a Lamborghini, said, “It’s not often when you find a story that’s cool and has a lot of heart.” Chastain’s character is based on a real person, but Sorkin promises the film will go in-depth and not just retell the tabloid story people know.

Also taking the stage during the packed presentation were Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg who are reuniting on Mile 22. The film’s been in the works for years and features Wahlberg as a CIA agent who has to get an informant to a plane that’s 22 miles away.

First Photos: Alicia Vikander in ‘Tomb Raider’

Warner Bros Pictures just released three new photos of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. The reboot of the franchise stars Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, and Daniel Wu, and is directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave). Geneva Robertson-Dworet wrote the script and Graham King is producing. Warner Bros and MGM will be launching the film in theaters on March 16, 2018.

The Plot: Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.

‘Blade Runner 2049’ – Ryan Gosling Discusses Being Part of the Franchise

Ryan Gosling put in a brief appearance at the 2017 CinemaCon, joining Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group President Tom Rothman on stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to reveal the first footage from Blade Runner 2049. The long-awaited, much-anticipated Blade Runner sequel is set to hit theaters on October 6, 2017 and stars Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, and Jared Leto.

Gosling, who looked casual on stage wearing a hoodie and jeans, was a toddler when Blade Runner was released and saw the movie for the first time when he was 13.

Gosling recalled he watched all the movies that stole from Blade Runner before he actually watched the 1982 film itself. He says he was blown away by Ridley Scott’s film and admitted it was surreal to be walking around in the Blade Runner universe as the star of Blade Runner 2049. “I can’t believe that I’m a part of it,” said Gosling, adding that every location, every set was real. Gosling says the environment was “rich with detail” and that every prop actually worked. Because it was real, it was easier for the cast to concentrate on the internal world of the characters rather than worrying about the setting.

“I was just blown away by how influential this film had been, not only in film but in my reality as well. It’s quite a prophetic film in so many ways,” stated Gosling, calling his experience on the set special.

Tom Rothman revealed part of the film is set in Las Vegas, a reveal that shocked Gosling, who couldn’t believe Rothman gave away something specific from the movie. “I’m not even sure I’m allowed to say I had a good time making it,” joked Gosling.

Gosling delivered his best line of the night when introducing the trailer for Blade Runner 2049. “Prepare to start going steady with the edge of your seats!”

The Blade Runner 2049 Plot: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
