Riverdale Details: Based on the characters from the Archie Comics, Riverdale is a bold and subversive take on the wholesome town of Riverdale and some of its teen residents, including Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, as they discover the darkness and dangers that bubble underneath their town’s wholesome façade.

The ‘Chapter One: The River’s Edge’ Plot: As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom. Archie Andrews is still the all-American teen, but the summer’s events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music — not follow in his dad Fred’s footsteps — despite his forbidden relationship with Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy (guest star Sarah Habel). With the weight of the world on his shoulders, Archie must look for a new music mentor and turns to Josie McCoy but she is focused solely on her band, Josie and the Pussycats. Weighing heavily on his mind is also his fractured friendship with budding writer Jughead Jones.

Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooper is anxious to see her crush Archie after being away all summer, but she’s not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. And Betty’s nerves, which are hardly soothed by her overbearing mother Alice, aren’t the only thing holding her back. When a new student, Veronica Lodge, arrives in town from New York with her mother Hermione, there’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie, but Veronica doesn’t want to risk her new friendship with Betty. And then there’s Cheryl Blossom, Riverdale’s Queen Bee, who is happy to stir up trouble amongst the others even though she’s keeping a few secrets of her own.

The dark comedy Ingrid Goes West has been picked up for US distribution by Neon. Ingrid Goes West was directed by first-time feature film director Matt Spicer (co-writer of Disney’s upcoming Rocketeer reboot) and stars Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza and Captain America: Civil War‘s Elizabeth Olsen. The cast also includes O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some!!), Billy Magnussen (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), and Pom Klementieff (Oldboy).

Neon is a newly created distribution banner formed by Tom Quinn and Tim League. They acquired Ingrid Goes West after what’s described as a “competitive bidding situation” following the comedy’s Sundance Film Festival premiere on January 20, 2017. Aubrey Plaza, Jared Ian Goldman, Tim White, Trevor White, Adam Mirels, and Robert Mirels produced, with Mary Solomon, Rick Rickertsen, and Allan Mandelbaum executive producing Spicer’s directorial debut.

The Plot: Ingrid Goes West follows Ingrid Thorburn (Plaza) a mentally unstable young woman who becomes obsessed with Taylor Sloane (Olsen), a social media “influencer” with a seemingly-perfect life. When Ingrid decides to drop everything, and move to the West Coast to befriend Taylor in real life, her behavior turns unsettling and increasingly dangerous.

Box Office Report: ‘Split’ Takes 1st Place, ‘xXx’ Settles for 2nd

Split with James McAvoy tops box office
James McAvoy stars in ‘Split’ (Photo © 2016 Universal Pictures)

M. Night Shyamalan’s back on top the box office charts with his new psychological horror film, Split. The PG-13-rated thriller written, directed, and produced by Shyamalan stars James McAvoy as a man with 23 personalities. Split earned a B+ from audiences, according to Cinemascore, and currently sits at 76% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Vin Diesel’s return to the xXx franchise in the leading role of Xander Cage wasn’t greeted with the same sort of box office success as the original xXx film released back in 2002. That film grossed $44 million domestically over its opening weekend and $277 million overall worldwide before exiting theaters. 2002’s xXx was made for $70 million-ish while this third film of the franchise had an estimated $85 million budget. The second film of the series, xXx: State of the Union, had Ice Cube in the lead role instead of Diesel. xXx 2 rang up $12 million over its first weekend in release and just $71 million total by the end of its theatrical run.

Up next: A Dog’s Purpose with Dennis Quaid, Gold starring Matthew McConaughey, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter with Milla Jovovich. A Dog’s Purpose had been the favorite to take over the number one spot for the January 27-29, 2017 weekend, however after the video surfaced of a German Shepherd being forced into rough water, the comedy/drama will likely see a much lower than expected box office take.

Box Office Top 10: January 20-22, 2017

  1. Split – $40,190,000
  2. xXx: Return of Xander Cage – $20,000,000
  3. Hidden Figures – $16,250,000
  4. Sing – $9,036,530
  5. La La Land – $8,350,000
  6. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – $7,036,000
  7. Monster Trucks – $7,000,000
  8. Patriots Day – $6,000,000
  9. The Founder – $3,758,000
  10. Sleepless – $3,706,444

Can you believe there are just seven new episodes left before The CW’s The Vampire Diaries comes to the end after an eight season run? Episode 10 titled ‘Nostalgia’s a Bitch’ is set to air on January 27, 2017 and the big questions we hope it addresses further are whether Stefan can still be redeemed and what’s going on in Damon’s head. Kellie Cyrus directed episode 10 from a script by Brett Matthews.

The cast of season eight includes Paul Wesley as Stefan, Ian Somerhalder as Damon, Kat Graham as Bonnie, Michael Malarkey as Enzo, Candice King as Caroline, Matt Davis as Alaric, and Zach Roerig as Matt.

The “Nostalgia’s a Bitch” Plot: THE RINGING OF THE BELL – Sybil (guest star Nathalie Kelley) enacts revenge on Damon (Somerhalder) by putting him in a catatonic state. Caroline (King) and Bonnie (Graham) enter Damon’s mind and run into familiar faces from the past, only to discover Stefan (Wesley) is the key to Damon’s fate. It’s a race against time for the bell as both Sybil and her sister Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) jockey for its control.

‘Emerald City’ Season 1 Episode 4 Recap: Science and Magic

Emerald City Season 1 Episode 4
Oliver Jackson Cohen as Lucas and Adria Arjona as Dorothy in ‘Emerald City’ (Photo by David Lukacs / NBC)

Secrets are revealed and another key character arrives in NBC’s Emerald City episode four. Titled ‘Science and Magic’ and airing on January 20, 2017, episode four begins with a doctor being shown from the patient’s point of view. She’s busy working on whoever this is on her table, telling the patient not to be frightened. A mask is briefly shown, but no explanation is offered.

After leaving her best friend for dead, Tip (Jordan Loughran) is about to jump off a bridge when a soldier stops her. She calls herself a killer and asks to join his brigade, promising to kill for him.

Dorothy (Adria Arjona) and Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) make their way through the snowy forest, keeping off of the yellow brick road to avoid the Wizard’s guards. Dorothy’s impatient but Lucas thinks safety is more important than speed. Dorothy’s still carrying her mother’s coat and Lucas asks if she’s positive the coat belonged to her mother. Dorothy knows it did, but Lucas just wants to be sure going to Emerald City is the right choice. Toto keeps barking at Lucas and Lucas barks back, asking Dorothy what’s gotten into the dog. Dorothy, Lucas, and Toto’s discussion is interrupted by the arrival of a child who clutches Lucas’ legs.

The Wizard’s guards are carrying dead bodies from burned areas of Nimbo when the captain is alerted to the discovery of what looks like a portal. The Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) is informed of the discovery and Elizabeth (Roxy Sternberg) wants to journey to Nimbo to see if the portal is magical. The Wizard says he’ll go check it out for himself and he doesn’t want her to accompany him.

The Wizard frees Anna (Isabel Lucas) from her cell, telling her he’s putting her to work.

So…Jack (Gerran Howell) isn’t dead from his fall after all. He’s the mysterious patient the doctor was working on at the beginning of the episode. He’s bound to a table and knocked out while the doctor goes to work with a saw.

The captain delivers Tip to what looks like a castle where a woman pays him for this new orphan. From a balcony above, Glinda (Joely Richardson) says Tip is to be baptized.

Back in the woods we go with Lucas, Dorothy, and the little lost girl. She won’t answer Dorothy’s questions and Lucas sets the girl aside, ready to take off and leave her to fend for herself in the forest. Dorothy says she won’t abandon the child and wants to take the girl to a nearby village. She’s worried about the girl’s parents and if they’re wondering whether she’s dead, and Lucas calms Dorothy down by telling her the girl isn’t her. Lucas is about to take off but Dorothy refuses to continue the journey to Emerald City until after she takes the child home.

Jack wakes up on the operating room table, asking after Tip and wondering where he is. The doctor introduces herself as Jane (Gina McKee) and tells Jack he was battered and nearly dead when they found him. The doctor informs Jack they’ve made him new again, pulling the sheet off and exposing her handiwork. Jack screams as he looks at his new metallic body. Hello, Tin Man!

Lucas waits with Toto outside the village as Dorothy assures the girl if they don’t find her parents, she’ll take her back to him. As she speaks, she notices the girl has something pushed into her ear. Actually, the plugs are in both ears and when Dorothy removes them, sounds flood in and overwhelm the child. Dorothy puts them back and apologizes.

On the road to Nimbo, Anna asks if the Wizard is displeased with her. He admits he was but he’s not anymore, and confesses she was right – he can’t bring back the giants. Anna says they can’t kill the Beast Forever this time anyway and describes this new Beast as coming from the sky. It will have a brain, a heart, and relentless strength when it arrives. She tells him because it has a heart, they will be able to kill it.

Jack walks through the room with his new metal appendages. He’s angry he was saved and turned into this, and Jane calls him a special project. She removed his heart and gave him one that will never break. He disagrees, telling her she’s wrong.

Glinda speaks before a gathering of young girls, telling them they’re meant to join the Wizard’s high council. Tip can be heard in the background screaming, refusing to take a bath. Tip yells that she doesn’t belong there and Glinda says they’re just trying to help her while attempting to convince her she can give her everything she needs. West (Ana Ularu) shows up and thinks Tip looks like trouble, which means she should have her – not Glinda.

It appears no one in the village recognizes the child. As Dorothy’s about to give up, a woman approaches and strokes the child’s hair and calls her Sylvie. Dorothy gets a bad vibe and wants to follow them home.

Eamonn (Mido Hamada) and his men ride into town as Dorothy looks around from the doorway of Sylvie’s home and doesn’t see Sylvie’s bedroom. Lucas runs up and drags Dorothy away while she protests that those weren’t Sylvie’s parents. She won’t leave the village, even with the guards now scouring the town, until she can grab Sylvie.

Dorothy grabs her gun and is prepared to shoot a guard if necessary. Lucas tells her if she fires it, they’ll know she’s a witch. She demands he take off his clothes. What?! Yes, Lucas asked that and I’m sure so did the audience.

West and Glinda argue over who should have Tip and the other lost girls at the orphanage. West asks which one Tip wants to go with, and they both make their cases. West offers her a chance to be worshiped as a courtesan and Glinda wants her to be untouched and pure. Tip asks, “So you’re saying my only choice as a girl is nun or whore?”

Jack is continuing to get used to his new body (his head, part of his chest, and one shoulder and arm remain intact). A woman arrives who Jack believes is like him. Her face is a mask and she says she’s unlike anyone else. Jack thinks she’s rude and tells her so when she refuses to bring him his wheelchair.

The Wizard and Anna arrive in Nimbo where he’s met by protesters angry his guards burned their homes and killed their families. Anna examines the portal and when she touches it, it vanishes and she’s knocked out.

Dorothy, dressed in Lucas’ clothing, returns to Sylvie’s home and finds the young girl quivering, eyes jet black. She’s shaking, scared, and sitting in between what appears to be her “parents” who’ve been turned to stone. Dorothy tries to calm Sylvie down, telling her she’ll take her back to Lucas. With the mention of Lucas’ name, Sylvie’s eyes return to normal and she stops shaking. Unfortunately, Sylvie’s hands are clasped by stone hands and Dorothy has to break the statues so Sylvie can be released.

Anna comes to and the Wizard admits he was scared he lost her. She asks if there are more villages with citizens that refuse to follow him. She believes they must turn those who are against him into followers instead of killing them.

Tip’s indulging in her first bubble bath and after dunking her head, she opens her eyes to find another orphan in the bathtub with her. Tip admits she doesn’t trust Glinda at all and her new bathtime friend tells Tip West is much better – and pickier – than Glinda. Tip dips her head under the water again and the camera pans to show the other orphan was actually West.

Back in the village, Dorothy and Sylvie try to look inconspicuous as they make their way to Lucas. Dorothy’s stopped by Eamonn who rips down her hood and says, “So, the girl who fell from the sky.”

Jack continues to work on his new body, picking up items with his new hand. He’s proud of his new skills, but Jane wants to talk about the woman who visited him. Her name is Langwidere and she’s a client of Jane’s. Jane is acting odd and hands Jack clothes to cover his metallically-enhanced body, telling him his “new world awaits.”

Over at the orphanage, Glinda’s girls leave in a carriage while Tip stays behind with West. She wants to know if West was telling the truth and lets the witch know she wants her magic.

The Wizard tries to get answers to where the tunnel in Nimbo led and what was its purpose. He questions his men and asks two of the survivors if they believe in magic or science. They choose magic, and the Wizard reminds them magic didn’t save them from the Beast Forever. The villager says the Beast comes to purify and asks where the Wizard’s “science” was when he ordered the village burned down.

Eamonn is about to carry out the Wizard’s death sentence when he suddenly stops, eyeing Lucas’ sword which is now in Dorothy’s possession. He grabs the sword and demands to know where she got it. Neither Dorothy nor Sylvie will reveal Lucas’ location, as Lucas listens from his hiding place. Eamonn grabs Sylvie and puts the sword to her throat, continuing to demand Dorothy tell him where Lucas is. Dorothy pulls out her gun and fires it into the air as Lucas races up and grabs Sylvie. Dorothy yells for Lucas and Sylvie to run while keeping her gun pointed at Eamonn who no longer cares about her as he calls out after Lucas is running away. Eamonn keeps following Lucas screaming what must be his real name and finally Dorothy shoots him in the chest and flees. She meets up with Lucas who can’t believe that guard knew him.

Emerald City Season 1 Episode 4
Stefanie Martini as Lady Ev in ‘Emerald City’ (Photo by David Lukacs/NBC)

Jane helps Jack make his way up a lengthy staircase to the palace of the King of Ev and his daughter. Lady Ev is actually Princess Langwidere (Stefanie Martini), the woman with the mask for a face who Jack met earlier and insulted. Jane is dismissed, telling Jack he must stay behind. He doesn’t want to but is forced to stay because, as Lady Ev explains, his surgery was paid for by their kingdom. Lady Ev tells him he should be grateful and Jane says the Princess now owns him.

Sylvie and Toto huddle asleep in the snow as Lucas and Dorothy talk by the fire. They don’t believe Sylvie is a witch, but they know she does have powers. Lucas asks if there’s magic in Dorothy’s world and she says yes but it’s different. She tries to explain that in her world there’s also science and technology. She whips out her iPhone, gives him her earphones, and plays “Ain’t No Sunshine” for him and of course he freaks out. He can’t understand where the music is coming from and Dorothy tries to calm him down by telling him to just listen. He asks if it’s science and she smiles. “No, it’s magic.”

Back in Nimbo, the survivor who spoke with the Wizard tells his fellow villagers they were wrong to put their faith in magic. The witches didn’t save them and so he suggests they allow science to rule instead of magic.

The Wizard watches over Anna as she sleeps.

Dorothy and Lucas are sitting nearly nose-to-nose, and Lucas says he’s sure the Wizard’s guard knew who he was. But, Lucas has figured out the man he is today is who he wants to be. They share a lengthy kiss, each wearing one earphone.

The following morning they’re startled awake by a noise in the forest. Lucas grabs Sylvie as Dorothy sprints off into the woods. Lucas follows after Dorothy but he’s stopped by Eamonn on horseback while Dorothy is struck and knocked down by a boomerang.

‘Grimm’ Season 6 Episode 3 Recap: Oh Captain, My Captain

Grimm Season 6 Episode 3

The final season of NBC’s Grimm continues on January 20, 2017 with an episode directed by series star David Giuntoli. Season six episode three titled ‘Oh Captain, My Captain’ kicks off with Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) creeping around his shop in the dark checking on things when he’s forced to quickly hide as a cop shines his flashlight through a window and attempts to open the door. The gang’s still downstairs and Monroe lets them know officers were outside, but they left after not spotting anything. Everyone tries to convince Nick to leave so he’ll be safe from Renard who’s now targeting pretty much everyone in the Scooby Gang.

Hank (Russell Hornsby) and Wu (Reggie Lee) tell Nick they’ve been fired, and then Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) and Nick take off for the night. Wu, in particular, really wants Renard dead.

Renard returns home and Adalind (Claire Coffee) warns him he better not harm Nick. He returns the warning, telling her he expects her support and is well aware she can’t leave him because of what might happen to her kids.

Nick returns to the tunnel to put the cloth back with the mystical stick, admitting to Eve while he’s doing it that he doesn’t want to put it back. He feels like he needs it and in the middle of the stick talk, Eve tells him she knows he loves Adalind.

Wu and Hank print up their resignations and Renard (Sasha Roiz) reminds them they have to be out by the end of the day. Wu, however, confronts Renard and tells him it’s not right – engaging in a fierce staring contest before Renard walks away. Wu’s in the process of woging but Hank manages to calm him down, reminding him it’s not the time or place. (I’m placing a bet on Wu being the one who kills Renard if Renard does die before the season ends.)

Eve and Nick try and figure out the symbols Diana drew, and Eve reminds him his mother said Diana has an “extraordinary destiny.” They’re both certain Diana’s way more powerful than Renard, but their talk is interrupted when Nick hears people coming through the tunnels. It’s Wu and Hank with provisions, including food and water. They’re officially unemployed and ready to help figure out how to stop Renard before he becomes mayor. Hank definitely doesn’t want to live in the tunnels with Nick!

Nick suggests they create another Renard to find out as much as possible about the soon-to-be-mayor. Hank and Wu aren’t sold on the idea of two Renards walking around and Eve says she can’t go through that change again. Nick doesn’t want Eve to do it; he’s going to use the magical hat to transform.

Campaign advisor Jeremiah pays a visit to Renard demanding to know about Rachel Wood’s murder. Jeremiah’s angry Rachel and Renard were having an affair, and he saw Renard going into Rachel’s apartment the night she was killed. He’s convinced Renard murdered Rachel and demands payment to keep quiet.

Diana’s acting like a normal kid, having fun swinging at the park under the watchful eye of her mom. Nick calls Adalind to tell her his plan and that Eve will do the spell, but he needs some of Renard’s hair.

Back at police headquarters, Renard’s busy interviewing his possible replacement, Lt. Grossante (Chris McKenna), making him swear he’ll be loyal not just to the department or the mayor’s office but specifically to him.

Over at the spice shop, Rosalee gets busy mixing up what’s needed for Nick’s transformation. Monroe’s not sure Nick should be doing this as Eve arrives to help Rosalee.

Renard arrives at Jeremiah’s place with a briefcase full of cash. But it’s a trick of course. Grossante kills Jeremiah to prove his loyalty, earning his promotion to captain.

Adalind finds a few of Renard’s hairs and Monroe arrives to take them back to Rosalee. They’re both talking a mile a minute: Monroe explaining the plan and Adalind telling him to grab a suit of Renard’s for Nick. He reminds her she has to keep Renard home and to make sure he watches the 7pm news. Renard arrives before Monroe can leave and Adalind pushes him into the closet. Renard’s home to get a new shirt and Adalind convinces him to take a shower, lying that he has blood in his hair. Monroe is able to escape as Renard showers.

Back at the spice shop, Monroe tells Rosalee, Eve, and Nick about his narrow escape and how Adalind saved him. He explains Renard had blood on his shirt that had to do with some guy blackmailing him over Rachel, and the gang quickly figures out what happened. Eve puts Renard’s hair into the hat and tells Nick to breathe deeply three times. Rosalee stops him before he can do it, worried they don’t know what happens when a Grimm goes through the change. Nick is impatient to get started and unwilling to wait for Rosalee to do any research.

Nick strips, at Eve’s suggestion, and then inhales. He doesn’t feel anything at first, and then he falls over backward as his body contorts and morphs into a Renard clone. When he stands up his body is fine, but his face shows that he’s woged. Eve tells him to relax as he starts to panic and Monroe tells him to zen himself out. Rosalee tells Monroe to stop because he’s not helping and breathes along with Nick. That works, and his face is back to Renard’s.

Meanwhile at Renard’s place, Adalind tries to convince him they need to spend time together right this very minute. He’s determined to go out and Adalind does everything but physically block the door. She engages him in a discussion about Diana’s education, and finally, Renard agrees to stay home for a while.

Switching back to the spice shop, Nick dresses in Renard’s clothing and admits he feels weird being that tall. The gang try and coach him on holding himself differently and walking like he’s more full of himself. Hank shows up then and Nick/Renard says, “I told you to give me your resignation.” Without pausing, Hank yells back, “I gave you my damn resignation!” It’s then that Hank realizes it’s Nick…but he still won’t shake his hand.

Adalind keeps one eye on the television while talking to Renard, stroking his ego by telling him he’s an amazing father. Finally, her delaying tactics pay off as Nick/Renard appears on television announcing he’s going to remain a police captain and abdicate the office of mayor. Adalind pretends not to know what’s going on as Nick clears his own name by saying it was an undercover sting operation that’s still ongoing. He thanks himself while the real Renard shakes his head and then finally loses it. He threatens Adalind and then storms out.

Hank and Nick/Renard arrive back at the precinct where they’re greeted in the parking lot by an incredibly happy Wu who lets them know all the officers watched the announcement. They leave Wu in the garage so he can warn them when the real Renard arrives.

The officers greet the captain with well wishes and welcome backs, and then he and Hank started packing up Renard’s computer. Lt. Grossante interrupts and demands a private meeting. Once Hank leaves, he asks what’s going on and reminds the captain he got rid of the body. Grossante threatens Renard, telling him he kept his part of the bargain by killing a man in front of him. Nick is working through this in his head and finally puts the pieces together. Acting like Renard, he demands Grossante leave his office, or he’ll charge him with murder.

After he leaves, Nick starts feeling a lot of pain and thinks he’s turning back. He and Hank need to leave, but they’re surrounded by reporters. The reporters throw questions at him and he can’t leave. Of course, that’s when Renard arrives in the parking garage. Wu warns him not to go up there since he’s already up there and it might be hard to explain.

Nick tells the reporters he’ll never run for political office again. He keeps trying to leave but assures them all Nick, Wu, and Hank did “exemplary” jobs as part of the undercover investigation.

Nick and Hank arrive downstairs and Nick/Renard confronts the real Renard. They’re about to start fighting when reporters arrive in the garage. Nick, Wu, and Hank take off while the real Renard tries to convince the media he’s not abdicating the office of mayor. He tries to tell them that wasn’t him but sounds a bit crazy.

Nick, Wu, and Hank arrive back at the spice shop with Renard’s computer. Nick’s worried that he hasn’t changed back yet and Eve’s concerned when he says he felt like he got hit by a truck, but nothing else happened. She tells him the pain was the spell wearing off – but it didn’t. Eve thinks this is because he’s a Grimm and it’s possible he could be stuck as Renard forever.

The real Renard arrives back at his office and is furious his computer and briefcase are missing.

The gang starts looking for something to make Nick turn back. Renard calls as they’re trying to figure this mess out and Eve prompts Nick to tell Renard he won’t change back unless they come to an agreement. Nick tells him to really think about what it will be like in Portland with two Sean Renards and that they might even think he’s crazy for always contradicting himself. He wants a face-to-face and Renard agrees.

Hank and Wu head out to make sure Adalind and Kelly are safe.

On the roof of his loft, Nick confronts Renard and wonders if shooting him would be suicide. Renard throws his gun to the side and Nick does the same. The two men go at it and it’s impossible to tell who is who until Renard woges. Then, to Renard’s surprise, Nick woges. They’re back at it again and the fists and legs are flying.

Rosalee, Monroe, and Eve can’t find anything to reverse the spell that won’t kill Nick. Then Rosalee suggests they do it again but turn the captain into Nick. Eve puts the kibosh to that idea, saying it’s a spell on a spell and it could kill him. Hank and Wu arrive just then with Adalind, Kelly, and Diana. They tell her the spell didn’t wear off and Adalind wants them to walk her through what they did.

Nick and Renard take a break from fighting to spar verbally, with Nick promising Renard will never be mayor. Renard says he’s not taking the blame for Bonaparte’s death and Nick says he’s not taking the blame for the North Precinct murders. Then Nick has a brilliant idea that they blame the North Precinct murders on Bonaparte, saying they went after each other. That could be the reason behind Renard resigning the mayorship – he needed to lead that investigation. Renard asks if they can go back to how it was, and Nick says they’ll figure out a way to make it work. Nick wants Wu and Hank back on the force, and he wants Adalind. Renard actually agrees but says he’ll raise Diana, reminding Nick Diana would hate it if anything happened to her dad. (Did he give up too easily? Is this a trick?)

Adalind’s finished reviewing their work and agrees they did everything right. Nick didn’t change back because he’s a Grimm. They have no idea what to do. Nick arrives (still in Renard mode) and tells them about his agreement with the captain. He also tells Adalind she gets to stay with him, but she has to share her daughter with Renard. Then Monroe brings up the possibility that maybe this Renard in front of them is the real Renard. Rosalee agrees and says the real Nick could be dead. Nick tries to convince them and then Adalind asks the location of their first kiss. The answer: at the table in his loft. He passes the test and Adalind wants to hug him but can’t hug “this” (Renard’s body).

The gang tells Nick they haven’t figured out a way to reverse the spell but assure him they won’t give up. Diana wakes up, sees Nick/Renard, and says, “Daddy.” She puts her hand to his chest and knows he’s not her daddy. She sends him flying and after a little struggle, he’s back to being Nick. Adalind finally gets her hug, but Diana doesn’t look happy at all.

Renard’s back at his place and thinks he’s alone, but he’s not. Meisner (Damien Puckler) appears and tells Renard he tried to tell him he chose the wrong side.
