Edgar Wright to Direct an Animated Film About Shadows

DreamWorks Animation doesn’t have a title for the project, but they do now have Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs The World) signed up to both direct and co-write an animated film about “the concept of shadows.” Comedian/bestselling children’s book author David Walliams is co-writing the untitled film with Wright.

“My first endeavors in film-making as a teenager were in animation, so it was hugely intriguing to get a call from DreamWorks Animation about potentially directing,” stated Wright. “When the Shadows concept was suggested to me, I could see the poster, the title sequence and pretty much the whole movie. It’s a blast writing this and to have one of my oldest friends in comedy, David Walliams, along for the adventure is a thrill.”

“Edgar will spearhead a new approach to this fascinating concept and we’re ecstatic to have him onboard as director along with David as co-writer,” said DreamWorks Animation’s Co-Presidents of Feature Animation Bonnie Arnold and Mireille Soria in a joint statement. “We’ve always been intrigued by a film concept involving shadows, and now with Edgar’s signature comedic style and abilities as a natural storyteller, audiences will be treated to a truly captivating and energetic tale.”

The shadows project marks Wright’s first animated feature as a director.

‘Arrow’ Season 4 Episode 7 Recap: Brotherhood

Episode seven of The CW’s Arrow season four delved further into what actually happened to John Diggle’s brother, Andy, and how he was connected to HIVE. The seventh episode also found Ray attempting to figure out what to do with his life now that he’s back from the dead, Thea discovering a possible cure for her blood lust, and Oliver committed to ridding the city of Damien Darhk.

Recap of Arrow Season 4 Episode 7:

An armored car carrying cash is attacked by armed men on motorcycles when Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) shows up and uses her Canary Cry to stop the driver from being shot. Team Arrow’s on the scene, taking on the Ghosts who’ve returned to knocking over armored cars. Thea’s a little out of control but she manages to stop herself from killing one of them. Then the armored car explodes, burning most of the cash. Arrow (Stephen Amell) says HIVE did it because the cash was meant to prop up Star City’s economy and HIVE wanted to stop that from happening.

Back at the lair, the team is trying to figure out why Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and HIVE are set on ruining Star City. Oliver suggests it’s because they want the city to die so they can completely take it over. Diggle (David Ramsey) sticks around after the meeting breaks up to show Oliver his brother’s file. HIVE had Andy (Eugene Byrd) killed because his criminal activity rivaled theirs. Diggle doesn’t get it and it doesn’t match his memories, but the facts are the facts. But Oliver reminds him things aren’t always as they seem.

Back on the island, Oliver learns the prisoner he killed is the brother of Diana, the woman he’s hiding in the cave.

Ray (Brandon Routh) is bored and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) suggests he take his company back. He doesn’t want to, so she wants him to spend his free time trying to figure out the DNA from the tooth they pulled off a Ghost. Half the genetic markers are missing, but Ray will look at it. Felicity wants to know why he won’t come back, which Ray doesn’t answer. He does however lock down part of the answer to why the DNA is degraded (what he finds is patented by a local company).

At Oliver’s campaign headquarters, Alex (Parker Young) tells Oliver he needs to wear a tux for a black tie gala for the police. And, he tells Oliver he needs to attend the police event and get their support without tossing them under the bus. Felicity calls and breaks up the meeting, and Alex tells Thea (Willa Holland) he thinks Oliver’s onto them. Oliver comes back and tells Thea that Felicity has a ‘tooth’ issue that needs looking into.

Arrow, Diggle, Black Canary, and Speedy take on the Ghosts at the lab that holds the answer to the tooth DNA question. Diggle stops a Ghost from shooting Black Canary while she grabs what they need, and then Diggle stops to try and find an ID on the Ghost. He lifts the mask and it’s his brother! Andy flees and Diggle is left completely confused.

Back at the Arrow lair, Diggle says nothing makes sense anymore. They don’t know why HIVE faked Andy’s death. Oliver’s giving Andy the benefit of the doubt even though Diggle thinks the worst of him. Felicity reminds him of the Ghost who didn’t shoot him last month and thinks that might have been Andy. Diggle says the HIVE member wasn’t like his brother, and he says his brother is dead.

Back on the island, Oliver argues the prisoner was put up to attacking him while Conklin tells Reiter (Jimmy Akingbola) that’s a lie. The boss believes Oliver who stealthily takes some paperwork before exiting the hut.

Lance (Paul Blackthorne) visits with Darhk and Darhk tells him that he thinks Lance set him up. He doesn’t trust him completely anymore and warns Lance to tread carefully.

Thea’s been avoiding Malcolm (John Barrowman) but finally picks up the phone. He’s actually just in the other room, and Thea’s not happy to see him. Malcolm asks her about the blood lust and she says she’s fine, but he knows better. He gives her a folder with info on a pedophile who lives close by and suggests she should kill him to satisfy the blood lust. It will give her a month of peace. She tells him she’s heading out and he has to leave or else she’ll call the police.

Oliver and Felicity look gorgeous at the Star City Police gala, and Oliver takes the stage and applauds the work of the police department. Lance and Oliver walk away from the stage together and Lance explains Darhk is now suspicious of him. He also tells Oliver that he saw a note on Darhk’s desk that said something about slip 52 at the docks. Maybe the Ghosts – including Andy – will be there.

Diggle, also handsome in a tux, and Laurel are at the bar at the gala and Laurel tries to make Diggle see that it’s a good thing Andy is alive. She reminds him now is his chance to heal. Diggle tears up while recalling the memory of telling Andy’s son his father was dead. He would have sacrificed his life to have his brother back then.

At the gala, Damien Darhk introduces himself to Oliver and tells him he wants to help his campaign. Oliver says he’s running unopposed so he’s not sure how Darhk will help him win, and Darhk says it’s about accomplishing big things by working together. Darhk wants him to halt his plans to restore the bay or else he won’t be running unopposed.

At Team Arrow’s lair, Felicity is listing all of Oliver’s terrible ideas. She thinks working with Damien Darhk is actually Oliver’s worst idea. He says he needs to because Lance has lost Darhk’s trust and this could get him info on HIVE. They argue about it and Felicity tells him he did this campaign to give the city hope, not to take down Darhk.

On the island, Reiter allows Oliver to punish Conklin (Ryan Robbins). Conklin begs for mercy and Oliver starts whipping him under Reiter’s instructions.

Alex and Thea are out having drinks when Alex’s phone rings and he has to take it. A man wanders over and hits on Thea, which is a horrible idea. She beats him senseless, with Alex coming back to see Thea attacking the guy.

The Diggles are home and John wants to know how he’ll tell Andy’s wife her husband is alive. John says he used to daydream about his brother being back. Oliver stops over to check on Diggle and to tell him about the docks. Oliver thinks the Ghosts – and Andy – will be there and Diggle doesn’t want to risk any of the team on Andy, but Oliver insists. Diggle okays it as long as Thea and Laurel sit it out.

At the dock, Darhk talks to new recruits, dispensing yellow pills that will make them cooperative as part of HIVE. He tells them to kneel after they take the pill and they do it immediately. The Ghosts spot Arrow and Diggle, and Andy commands them to “kill the green one.” Darhk smiles as Arrow and Diggle are fired upon. They attack the Ghosts and Arrow’s disabled by an explosion. Diggle is able to rescue him and they escape.

Back at the lair, Felicity tends to Oliver’s wounds and then Diggle asks her to leave so they can talk about Andy. Diggle says Andy chose HIVE but Oliver says he’s under the influence of that yellow pillow. Diggle says there’s no excuse for Andy letting his wife and son think he was dead for eight years, but Oliver is asking Diggle to hold out hope for Andy because he needs to believe that whatever happens we can come back from it. Diggle says that thinking led him to the League last year, and it’s why he wants to fight Darhk from the inside this year. Diggle says, “Let’s take this son of a bitch down in the light of day.”

Back on the island, Oliver visits the cave to tell Diana about her brother’s death.

Arrow Emily Bett Rickards Brandon Routh Season 4 Episode 7

Ray’s busy working on the tooth on Felicity’s dinner table but she says that’s okay because Oliver’s busy fighting with Diggle over Andy. Ray doesn’t have the market cornered on being dead apparently, and Felicity tells him he’s stalling by not seeing anyone and announcing he’s alive. Ray reveals he’s been catching up on the last six months and he doesn’t think anyone cared he was gone. Felicity says his company needs him to revive it, and he says he needs to figure out what he’s living for. He played around with the tooth and there’s no way to put the DNA back together but he did notice high levels of sodium fluoride. That led him to discovering the location of Darhk’s headquarters: a psychiatric facility closed down for high levels of sodium fluoride.

Team Arrow assembles and prepares to go to the psychiatric facility. Diggle arrives and Oliver tells him they’re not taking down the Ghosts, they’re going after Andy. Diggle doesn’t want them to, but Laurel and Thea say they need to do this. Felicity sums it up: Andy’s under Dahrk’s influence and they need to get him out. The team won’t change their minds and they head out.

Felicity says there’s at least 50 or so Ghosts all wearing masks, but Curtis has created infrared cameras that will virtually unmask them so they can find Andy. Arrow figures out it’s not just a base of operations; it’s actually a staging area. He reads off what it says on the crates and Felicity looks it up. Meanwhile, Speedy and Black Canary are spotted and have to take on Ghosts. Andy actually has Speedy but he won’t stop fighting. They enter an elevator, fighting, exit the elevator, fighting. Speedy shots him with an arrow but can’t lift him. Team Arrow’s outnumbered and then Ray flies in to help them out!

Speedy encounters Darhk in the halls and he calls her Merida (from Brave, because of the arrows). He also knows she was trained by Ra’s al Ghul and asks her how Malcolm’s doing these days. His power doesn’t work on Speedy and she escapes. Felicity updates them that Black Canary has Andy but she needs help reaching the exit. Arrow sends Ray to help her out, taking out the remaining Ghosts with the help of Diggle who just showed up. “My brother needed me – the green one,” says Diggle after Arrow thanks him for being there.

Back at the lair, Ray looks happy to have been part of the team and Diggle thanks everyone, including Ray. Felicity asks if this means Ray’s coming back to work but he says no. He needs to take time to figure out what he should be doing, but will show up for the occasional superhero work when they need him. Diggle’s ready for a long overdue chat with his brother. And, Oliver’s going to take Diggle’s advice and fight Darhk in the light of day.

Back on the island, Diana’s crying over her brother’s death. Oliver says Conklin was responsible but the real bad guy is Reiter. He needs her help to figure out what Reiter is looking for.

Thea invites Malcolm over which surprises him, of course. She says she’s found a different way to control the blood lust: Damien Darhk. She tells Malcolm Darhk’s powers didn’t work on her and her blood lust was gone after he tried to use them. She wants Malcolm to figure out how to make that permanent. He shakes his head in agreement.

Diggle visits Andy who’s locked up in a cage. He wants to know if the file is true and Andy picks it up, looks through it, and says it’s all true. Diggle breaks into tears.

The media is gathered at the bay to hear Oliver discuss his restoration program. Alex isn’t happy to see Thea and he thinks Thea would have killed that guy if he hadn’t stopped him. She asks him to be patient with her.

Oliver says his campaign advisor doesn’t think saving the bay is the right thing to do right now because of the horrible state of the city, but he’s there because he’s confident this program could help solve the city’s problems. Darhk listens from the back of the crowd as Oliver says the bay is out in the open for everyone to see, just like the fight to save Star City. Locking eyes with Darhk, Oliver promises that he will never stop fighting to save the city.

Syfy wants more of the unscripted paranormal series Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Witness. The network’s officially renewed both shows for the 2016 season, with Ghost Hunters returning for season 11 and Paranormal Witness for its fifth season. Both shows will wrapped up their current seasons on November 18, 2015 and both series will have 13 new episodes in their upcoming seasons.

In addition to announcing the renewals, Syfy provided details on Ghost Hunters season 11 and Paranormal Witness season five:

In Season 11 of Ghost Hunters, TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) founder Jason Hawes will lead investigations at reportedly haunted locations including the Cleveland, Ohio’s Midwest Railway Preservation Society, believed to be tied to the notorious, unsolved Cleveland Torso Murderer serial killer case; Crown Point, Indiana’s Old Lake County Jail, famed for being home to gangster John Dillinger…until he escaped; and the Toledo Yacht Club in Toledo, Ohio, said to be haunted by a boy who died over a century ago.

The fifth season of Paranormal Witness: True Terror will delve deeper into actual horror stories, while continuing to feature eyewitness accounts of the most frightening and compelling first person accounts of paranormal encounters, alongside dramatic reenactments of those experiences.

‘The Flash’ Season 2 Episode 7 Recap and Review: Gorilla Warfare

The Flash Danielle Panabaker Grodd Season 2 Episode 7

The title gives away the main villain of the seventh episode of The Flash season two. Grodd’s back and he’s not a happy gorilla. Fortunately for The Flash fans, the CGI creature looked great throughout the episode, with the effects blending seamlessly into scenes in which he interacts with actors. Unfortunately, the episode was a little slow overall. While it was nice to see John Wesley Shipp back as Henry Allen, his inclusion in the episode just felt a little too convenient. Is he going to pop in whenever Barry needs an inspirational speech delivered? It felt odd to have him back so soon after he left Barry and the world of Central City behind to regroup after all those years of incarceration.

“Gorilla Warfare” wasn’t one of the better season two episodes but it did provide us with a few scenes to geek out about as it unveiled Hawkgirl in all of her glory and also provided a look at Earth #2’s Gorilla City.

Recap of The Flash Season 2 Episode 7:

Barry (Grant Gustin) is still in recovery mode after the events of episode six, with his back healing at an escalated rate. He’s having trouble breathing because of his spinal injury but what’s really worrying him is he doesn’t know how they’re going to deal with Zoom. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) says he needs access to their equipment and tells Barry and the gang it’s time for him to go home. He’s determined to take care of Zoom once and for all, but doesn’t really have a plan. The gang is skeptical but Cisco (Carlos Valdes), who isn’t a fan of Earth #1 or Earth #2’s Dr. Wells, is willing to send Wells through the speed cannon now that they know how to use it thanks to Jay. But, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) argues that if he can defeat Zoom in his world, he can do it on theirs. Dr. Wells says no, he’s going home now, no matter what. As Wells leaves the room, Caitlin tells the group he has to stay because Barry isn’t capable of protecting them yet.

Just then, an alert comes up and Cisco panics until he realizes it’s just a reminder he has a date tonight. They tease him about his plans, ruthlessly.

Patty (Shantel VanSanten) calls and Barry pretends he’s still sick. She offers him homemade chicken noodle soup which he refuses while claiming he likes canned soup better proving Barry is not a good liar. She reminds him to stay off his feet. (That should be easy!)

Caitlin follows Dr. Wells to a restaurant where he’s working out his plan to go home. Caitlin says they can help him save his daughter if he stays there and works with Team Flash. He’s looking for which breach to use when Caitlin tells him he’s just lucky Professor Stein never figured out how to close all of them. That gives Wells an idea: close all of them but one so Zoom has only one way to get to this Earth. They’ll leave the breach open at S.T.A.R. Labs and set a trap.

Cisco takes Kendra (Ciara Renee) to see The Princess Bride which he says is one of the best date movies of all times. He takes her hand and sees a flash of someone with huge wings. He backs out of the date, apologizing and saying he has to head back to work.

At Vaughn Pharmaceutical a doctor begins acts uncharacteristically and steals a container of serum. He takes it outside, comes to his senses, and is faced with Grodd who kills him and takes the container.

Patty investigates the attack and finds weird hairs. The doctor is dead from blunt force trauma to the head and the serum is gone. She tells Joe (Jesse L. Martin) what she’s discovered and she asks about Barry, with Joe ruining Barry’s chicken soup story by telling her Barry hates the canned stuff.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, iris and Joe are monitoring Barry on a treadmill and he has a flashback to Zoom’s attack which causes him to lose his concentration and get thrown off the machine. He tells them they wouldn’t understand but Joe stays with him to find out what’s going on in Barry’s head. Barry says Zoom destroyed him and destroyed the city by showing The Flash is powerless to stop him. Barry says he’s supposed to be their hero but he failed in front of the city.

Cisco asks Caitlin if she’s read anything about a Birdman attacking anywhere and she tells him there’s no such thing. Cisco jokes that it’s really not a stretch to think one exists and insists he saw a man with huge, wide wings. He asks Caitlin, “What if it was angel?” not realizing she’s frozen. She turns, hits him hard in the face, and leaves the room.

Joe and Iris (Candice Patton) are walking through the lab talking about Barry, and Iris has an idea that they’ll discuss when Joe gets home. Patty calls Joe to let him know the dead scientist cases are linked. Both scientists stole drugs: one for vertigo, one for blood disorders of the brain. They are both drugs used to enhance intelligence. Patty also says the hairs at the crime scene are from a gorilla, which Joe guesses before she can actually say.

Cisco tells Barry that Caitlin hit him and Joe runs in telling them Grodd is back! Cisco deduces Caitlin’s being mind-controlled and sure enough they look at the outside cameras as Grodd’s walking by.

Dr. Wells says there are talking gorillas on his Earth, too, but wants to know why Grodd would take Dr. Snow. Joe says there’s definitely got to be a reason and Grodd can’t just move around without people seeing him. Dr. Wells says they’ll get her back and Joe tells Barry not to blame himself. “You may not have your legs just yet but you’ve still got that brain. Help us figure it out,” says Joe.

Grodd takes Caitlin to his new lair where he tells her, “Caitlin always kind.” He also says he needs help figuring out how he became Grodd. Caitlin tells him it was the dark matter from the particle accelerator. He wants to make another Grodd but she doesn’t know how.

Barry’s back on the treadmill but he’s still not up to speed. His dad, Henry, arrives, telling him to keep his chin down when running. (Iris came up with the idea to fetch him.)

Dr. Wells wants to know how Grodd became sentient and Cisco says they had a contract with the military to awaken latent mind-reading abilities for interrogation purposes. Grodd was a test subject, and the project was shut down by Wells – they thought to save Grodd. But, it was actually to use the explosion to create a 1,500 pound mind-controlling gorilla he could manipulate. Wells uses an algorithm to figure out where he is now.

Barry’s dad says he’s healed beautifully and doesn’t need physical therapy. Henry’s been camping and fishing by himself and tells Barry, “Sometimes you just have to slow down to get back to where you want to be.” In rushes Cisco with Grodd’s location. He’s narrowed it down to three bell towers and the plan is to use Wells in the Reverse Flash suit posing as Grodd’s father to convince Grodd to let Caitlin go. Barry tells him he can’t help if something goes wrong, but Wells agrees to the plan anyway.

Cisco has Wells practicing his Earth #1 Wells impression but he’s not super effective. Finally, he nails it and Cisco says he’s ready to take on Grodd. They’re almost at the third of the three bell towers after striking out at the first two. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry is overseeing the operation and his dad tells him it must have been horrible to be attacked by Zoom. Barry says he can’t stop Zoom, Zoom knows it, and the city knows it. Henry says everyone in the court room stopped believing in him, too, and thought he’d killed his wife. So, yeah, he knows what it’s like to be destroyed. Barry asks how he handled it and his dad said he embraced it. Barry has to accept this and believe in himself again, and that was what Barry did for his dad when he was a kid – he gave him hope. Now it’s his turn to give it back to his son.

Caitlin explains the differences between ape and human brains, and how the experiment originally went down. In comes Wells and Grodd isn’t overjoyed to see him. Wells tells him he’s back but Grodd thinks he died. Wells tells him they don’t need Caitlin, continuously calling him buddy, and asking if they can let her go. Grodd replies, “Father never ask. Father take.” He hits Wells and Cisco rescues Caitlin but can’t get Wells. Barry tells them an overload of the drugs will shock Grodd’s brain. Wells tells Grodd he won’t leave him alone and that one day the city will be his, and then he makes his move and stabs Grodd with syringes. Grodd drops to his knees.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Caitlin thanks Wells for rescuing her. Joe wants to kill Grodd but Caitlin says Grodd is getting smarter and is lonely and sad. She really feels sorry for him and Wells figures out they can send Grodd through a specific breach that will get him “as close to home as he’ll ever be.” Henry volunteers Barry to lead Grodd to that breach and Barry agrees.

Caitlin calls for Grodd outside his building. When he lands on the ground, The Flash takes Caitlin away, all while leading Grodd exactly where he needs to be so that Cisco will blast Grodd into Earth #2 with his speed cannon. He comes at The Flash Barry has a flashback to Zoom’s attack. As Grodd’s about to attack again, Caitlin pleads with him that she can give him a home if he trusts her. Grodd does, and The Flash gets Caitlin out of the way while Grodd is sucked into the breach – but he’s not getting sucked in the way he should. Barry’s dad tells him to conquer his fears and The Flash runs at Grodd full speed, knocking him through the breach. Grodd’s gone, The Flash is back, and Caitlin is safe.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs safe and sound and minus one very angry gorilla, they’re all standing around the Reverse Flash suit wondering what to do with it. Henry shakes Wells’ hand and says his goodbyes. Caitlin wants to know where they sent Grodd and Wells says it’s a refuge where gorillas can roam free. Cisco doesn’t understand why the breaches on #Earth 1 lead to different places on Earth #2, and Wells doesn’t have an answer. Wells knows they have to close them and Caitlin promises they’ll all work together on that.

Back at Joe’s, dad looks through pictures of Barry as a kid. He thanks Iris for reaching out, Joe for always being there, and then he heads out with Barry to the bus station…but not before Joe warns Barry Patty’s not buying his sick story. Iris asks Joe if he’s okay, and Joe says he wonders what it would have been like to raise a son.

At the station, Patty’s looking through the microscope and commenting on canned soup vs Joe’s homemade soup. She knows he wasn’t sick and wants to know why he lied. He says he needed to spend time with his dad and doesn’t think people would have seen past his father’s tarnished image. Patty says she has to know if she can trust him if they’re going to be in a relationship and he says she can.

At the coffee shop, Cisco is outside the door looking sweet, carrying a basket of flowers and chocolate for Kendra. Kendra accepts the basket and says flowers are a waste of money and she’s allergic to money, but she’s joking. He apologizes for bailing the other night and says it was a CCPD emergency. She calls him brave and loves the basket, which even includes a digital projector with The Princess Bride loaded on it. She touches his arm, leans in for a kiss, and this time he knows for sure the Birdman is actually a Birdwoman (or, actually, Hawkgirl as she’ll come to be known) He tells her she’s an amazing kisser to explain his reaction to touching lips.

On Earth #2 Grodd is in the forest and smells other gorillas. He’s arrived in Earth #2’s Gorilla City.
