Good news for Debra Messing fans: NBC’s given the dramatic series The Mysteries of Laura a full season order. The series has been averaging 10.4 million viewers over its first six episodes and has actually increased the viewership year-over-year in the Wednesday at 8pm timeslot, so signing off on a full season one order was probably not a difficult decision for the network.

The show, which will be sticking around for 22 episodes, stars Debra Messing as a NYPD homicide detective. The cast also includes Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, and Max Jenkins.

“Debra has effortlessly infused Laura with a relatability that is captivating audiences,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment, announcing the season one pickup. “We can’t wait to see how Laura will continue to evolve throughout the entire season.”

The Plot:

Debra Messing stars as Laura Diamond, a brilliant NYPD homicide detective who balances her “Columbo” day job with a crazy family life that includes two unruly twin boys and a soon-to-be ex-husband (Josh Lucas)—also a cop—who just can’t seem to sign the divorce papers. Between cleaning up after her boys and cleaning up the streets, she’d be the first to admit she has her “hot mess” moments in this hilariously authentic look at what it really means to be a “working mom” today.

Somehow she makes it all work with the help of her sexy and understanding partner, and things become even more complicated when her husband ironically becomes her boss at the precinct. For Laura, every day is a high-wire balancing act.

Lisa Kudrow returns to star in and executive produce season two of HBO’s The Comeback, a comedy that finds Kudrow playing an actress struggling to get roles and remain relevant in Hollywood. Season one aired way back in 2005, and season two is set to kick off on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT with Lance Barber, Robert Michael Morris, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young reprising their roles.

The Plot:

“B level” TV star Valerie Cherish was a pioneer of reality television. Now, it’s ten years later – there’s more TV than ever and she wants back in. Lisa Kudrow stars as the embattled Valerie Cherish, a fading TV “It Girl” who was once so desperate to stay in the spotlight that she allowed cameras to follow her every move as she appeared on a new sitcom, with disastrous results.

When the comedy series returns for eight episodes, Valerie thinks she has it all figured out this time. She doesn’t. Valerie has hired a student film crew to shoot footage that she hopes will get the attention of Bravo, and put her back on the map. When she discovers her former nemesis Paulie G. (Lance Barber), who’s fresh out of rehab, has a new HBO show called “Seeing Red,” based on his experiences working with her, an irate Valerie crashes the HBO offices crying defamation—but ends up getting the role that’s based on herself.

Keanu Reeves Follows Up ‘John Wick’ with ‘Replicas’

Keanu Reeves, currently in theaters in the action thriller John Wick, has been set to star in Replicas for Lotus Entertainment and di Bonaventura Pictures. The sci-fi thriller will be directed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria) from a script by Chad St. John, with Reeves, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and Stephen Hamel producing.

“I jumped at the opportunity to work with Keanu, Stephen, and Lorenzo,” said Wexler. “I love near-future sci-fi and have always been drawn to stories about scientists on the cutting edge of technology whether that’s three years from now or 130 years ago. These are the mavericks that change our lives. This is a story about one who goes to extremes with his own family and is forced to confront that question–how far is too far?”

Lotus Entertainment’s Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel added, “We loved the notion of taking the ‘how far will a man go to save his family’ story hook and then adding a high concept sci-fi twist. Keanu has obviously had a lot of success in the sci-fi genre, and we are excited to have him anchoring a story which we believe will have great appeal to audiences across the globe.”

Filming’s expected to take place next spring.

The Plot:

After a car accident kills his loving family, a daring neuroscientist will stop at nothing to bring them back, even if it means pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force, and the physical laws of science themselves.
