The cast is led by Chiwetel Ejiofor and includes Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Garret Dillahunt, Paul Giamatti, Scoot McNairy, and Lupita Nyong’o. Adepero Oduye, Sarah Paulson, Brad Pitt, Michael Kenneth Williams, Alfre Woodard, Chris Chalk, Taran Killam, and Bill Camp also star.
The Plot:
12 Years a Slave is based on an incredible true story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender) as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) forever alters his life.

The independent drama The Squeeze has just started shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina with Jeremy Sumpter, Chris McDonald, Michael Nouri, Katherine LaNasa, and Jillian Murray in starring roles. Written, produced and directed by Terry Jastrow, the indie film is set in the world of golf and high stakes gambling.

The annual awards event chooses nominees and winners based solely on votes by fans and recognizes fan favs in films, television, music, and other assorted categories. Fans can cast their votes now through October 31, 2013 at 11:59pm ET with the top five nominees in each category announced on November 5, 2013 at 9am PT live from the Paley Center in Beverly Hills.
