‘Tracker’ Season 1 Episode 10 Recap: “Into the Wild”

Tracker Episode 10 Recap

Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) goes for a run in the forest and then takes a shower, emerging wrapped in a towel as CBS’s Tracker season one episode 10 begins. Reenie (Fiona Rene) surprises him as he steps out of his bathroom, holding up a cell phone and taking a video of his still-damp body clad only in a towel.

She chuckles at his discomfort before getting down to business. Colter’s supposed to be taking time off, but she needs his help tracking a missing plane. Gus, a friend of her father, owns McMillion Charter and Treks in Idaho, and his son, daughter, and a client were on the plane.

Fortunately for Reenie, Colter’s willing to cut his time off short. He heads to Idaho with Reenie who claims helping with cases is much more interesting than doing regular lawyer work. Reenie explains that she called Gus to book a trip for her dad and knew instantly that something was wrong by the sound of his voice. Gus’s son Hank was flying the plane and Madison was on board with a client named Walter.

Gus (Gil Birmingham, Yellowstone) confirms he’s ready to pay Colter’s fee if he can find his children. Gus points out the plane’s last known location just before a squall blew in. Their flight path was completely off track and headed straight into the storm. Search and Rescue didn’t spot anything, and Gus did a flyover on his own. He saw a bunch of debris, but the clouds made it hard to see.

Gus agrees to fly Colter to the debris field area. Colter will jump out there and look around.

Before he leaves, Colter asks Reenie to do some checking around. He believes Hank diverted the plane before the storm rolled in. The plan was to go to the lake, but Colter thinks that got switched somewhere along the way. Where were they going and why?

Gus informs Colter there’s a ranger station five miles from the debris field. Colter pulls off a flawless landing after jumping out over a game trail.

Meanwhile, Reenie and Gus are catching up when a stranger (Peter Stormare) wanders in asking about Walter. Gus admits he called Walter’s emergency number, but no one called back. Spidey sense tingling, Reenie’s on alert when the man will not say his name. The man continues to act weird as Gus confirms the plane went missing.

Reenie snaps a few photos as the stranger returns to his car.

Debris field located, Colter searches the plane’s cabin. There aren’t any bodies inside, and he spots tracks leading away from the site. He finds Walter’s body a short distance away. Colter calls Gus and Reenie with an update and explains Walter didn’t die from the crash. It’s obvious he was shot with a large caliber weapon. Gus reveals Madison carried a .44 magnum.

Reenie warns Colter that a strange man came in looking for Walter. Colter searches the body and discovers Walter doesn’t have a wallet or phone. However, Colter spots a transponder near the body and assumes it came from the luggage. (A weird assumption since there isn’t any luggage nearby. It would make more sense that it fell out of Walter’s pocket.)

Colter shares a photo of the dead man and Gus and Reenie realize it’s not Walter. Colter continues his search, following footprints away from the crash site.

Reenie sends Teddi (Robin Weigert) and Velma (Abby McEnany) the dead man’s photo, describing the case as taking a turn for the weird. They promise to bring Bobby into the loop to help identify the body. Reenie forwards a photo of Walter’s car and asks them to also look into his background. They realize it would be faster with the registration, so Reenie breaks a window. The registration indicates it belongs to Holly Choi in Reno, Nevada, not Walter.

Colter finds a makeshift tent along with the smoking remains of a fire and two smashed cell phones. Whoever set up camp didn’t want to be tracked and was in a huge hurry. Also, one of the people at the camp was injured. He calls Reenie with his latest finding, and she fills him in on the car’s ownership. Colter theorizes Walter was using Hank and Madison to smuggle something onto the plane. That may be why the flight plan was changed.

Reenie discovers a receipt from a printing company in the car and wants to chase down that lead. Suddenly, a shot rings out and Reenie – still on the phone – runs toward it. She doesn’t pause when another shot is fired. Reenie steps into Gus’s office and spots blood on the floor. Grabbing a makeshift weapon, she finds Gus in pain on the floor. Gus shot the mysterious man, but he got away.

Just then Gus’s plane takes off down the runway.

Luckily, Gus is okay, but the mystery man is injured. Unfortunately, he also stole the map of the search grid as well as Gus’s plane. They realize he’s heading Colter’s way, and Reenie sends Colter the photo she took earlier as the man was getting into his car.

Reenie visits the printing service and makes up a convincing lie about the receipt. The clerk reveals the purchase was of photos sized for a Canadian passport.

Colter’s hot on Hank and Madison’s trail, and it seems they are heading to the ranger station. He hears someone cry out and Madison’s confused when Colter calls out her name. Colter quickly explains her dad sent him and Madison confirms she’s in trouble. She’s stuck on the side of a hill with a broken arm. Colter repels down and Madison quickly explains Walter has Hank. She only got away by jumping off the ridge.

Walter shot at her after she jumped but missed. Apparently, Walter’s making Hank carry money. Walter had too much money with him for just one person to carry.

Colter wraps her broken arm and warns that it will hurt getting her back up. He also assures her that she can do it; she just needs to be brave.

Velma and Teddi continue their research and realize the area is the perfect place for Walter to slip across the Canadian border and disappear. He had to alter his plans when the plane crashed. (Velma and Teddi’s scenes no longer show their dogs, including their adorable Corgi. Bummer.)

Madison tells Colter that Walter paid Hank $5,000 to change the flight plan. Their revised destination was just over the Canadian border. However, the storm caused Hank to try to make an emergency landing. She also confirms the dead guy tracked them there and Walter shot him with her gun. (Even with a transponder hidden on the plane, how did he track them to the crash site in the middle of nowhere so quickly after the crash? The weather was horrible and the crash, obviously, wasn’t a planned stop?)

After killing the man, Walter revealed dangerous people were after him and marched Hank and Madison off at gunpoint. Walter also got rid of a tracking chip that was in the money.

Reenie calls Colter and reveals the dead guy worked for dealers in Reno. The money in Walter’s possession was stolen from them. The guy who attacked Gus is named Voltz and he was sent by the dealers to retrieve the money.

Colter and Madison make it to the ranger station and discover Voltz beat them to it. The ranger’s tied up and now Voltz holds Colter and Madison at gunpoint (a gun in each of his hands, one of which is very shaky). Voltz demands to know where Walter was heading, and Madison says to a town near Strand Lake in Canada. Walter told her he needed to be in Pinewood before midnight.

Once Madison’s done revealing Walter’s plans, Voltz tries to shoot her. Fortunately, Colter moves quickly and knocks her down, taking a bullet to his shoulder. Voltz is heading out the door when Colter shoots him in the thigh. (Remember, Gus also shot him.) They’re both wounded but only Voltz makes it to an ATV and gets away.

The ranger bandages Colter’s shoulder as Colter promises to try and get to Hank before Voltz does. Colter uses tea bags to stop the bleeding and has the ranger drop him off on the main road.

After Reenie picks up Colter, they call Velma and Teddi while driving toward Hank and Walter’s probable location. A brief discussion of tea bags ensues, and then Teddi reveals there’s a guy in Strand Lake who helps people vanish, according to her FBI contact.

Velma looks up Pinewood and discovers it’s a resort right over the border.

Reenie and Colter arrive at Pinewood and split up to cover more ground. Colter searches the cabins while Reenie heads to the main office. She spots blood spatter and then sees the manager lying dead behind the counter.

Colter peers into a cabin that appears to have been recently used. Heading around back, he finds Walter and the man Walter was meeting dead from gunshot wounds. Reenie calls as Colter’s examining the bodies and Colter tells her to hide until the cops arrive.

Colter sees a blood trail and believes it’s either Hank or Voltz’s. Hank probably has at least half of the money, and Colter hopes to find him before Valtz does.

Colter follows the blood to an unlocked cabin and has a brief fight with Hank before getting Hank to realize they’re on the same side. Hank shows Colter the money he stashed under the bed just as they hear the injured Voltz breaking down a nearby cabin’s door. They hide under the cabin because they don’t have time to escape.

Voltz shoots up the closet and then grabs the bag of money. He unwraps a stick of gum as he’s about to leave, and the wrapping falls on the floor. Voltz realizes there are spaces between the boards and makes his way slowly across the room. He pauses in the perfect spot, and Colter shoots up through the floorboards, killing him.

Mission accomplished, everyone regroups at McMillion Charter and Treks. Gus hands over the reward and offers Reenie and Colter a weekend fishing trip on the house, whenever they want to set it up. Colter tries to decline the offer, but Reenie takes him up on it. She even suggests a fishing contest which she’s certain she’ll win – even while wearing her Manolos.

So Help Me Todd Season 2 Description, Courtesy of CBS:

So Help Me Todd stars Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin as razor-sharp, meticulous attorney Margaret Wright and Todd, her talented but scruffy, aimless son whom she hires as her law firm’s in-house investigator. As the black sheep of the well-heeled Wright family, Todd is a laidback, quick-thinking, excellent former private detective who fell on hard times after his flexible interpretation of the law got his license revoked.

Margaret’s penchant for excellence and strict adherence to the law is at complete odds with Todd’s scrappy methods of finding his way through sticky situations: by the seat of his wrinkled pants. When Todd inadvertently teams with his mother on a case, she’s surprised to find herself duly impressed by – and proud of – his crafty ability to sleuth out information with his charm and his wide-ranging tech savvy. At last, Margaret sees a way to put her son on a “suitable” path to living an adult, financially solvent life she approves of, and she asks him to join her firm. Todd agrees, since it means getting his license back and once again doing the job he excels at and loves.

Mother and son working together is a big first step toward mending their fragile, dysfunctional relationship, and they may even come away with a better understanding of each other at this pivotal point in their lives. But whether Todd and Margaret will be able to accept each other for who they are is another case entirely.

‘Sugar’ Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: “Boy in the Corner”

Colin Farrell in Sugar Season 1 Episode 5
Colin Farrell in ‘Sugar’ season 1 episode 5 (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)

We’ve passed Apple TV+’s Sugar season one’s halfway point, and if you assumed we’d learn John Sugar’s secret in episode five, you were mistaken. Episode five only slightly nudges us closer to learning the true nature of John’s mission. Instead, episode five’s big reveal was David’s connection to his half-sister Olivia’s disappearance.

Episode five, “Boy in the Corner,” begins with a flashback of David Siegel (Nate Corddry) shooting a scene from Man in the Corner. It’s his comeback film, and the flashback shows him becoming increasingly frustrated with the crew. It also shows him hitting on his female scene partner.

Back to current events, and David’s whining to his mom about the fact no one will ever see his new film. His disgusting secret was just revealed, and he believes he’ll never work in Hollywood again. His mom, Margit (Anna Gunn), promises that after he inherits his family’s fortune, he can tell Hollywood where to stick it.

Elsewhere, John Sugar (Colin Farrell) is in a bad mood. He needs to find David, certain he knows something about Olivia’s whereabouts. John stops by Jonathan Siegel’s place and enters a room that Jonathan has kept as a shrine to the memory of Lorraine, his deceased actress wife. The dress from the Polaroid photo is there and so is the couch Rachel Kaye, his daughter-in-law, was leaning against in the risqué photos. That raises a lot of questions, but Jonathan’s recovering from a heart attack and in no condition to answer them.

Bernie (Dennis Boutsikaris) is there with his unconscious dad and offers to pay John’s fee and send him on his way. John declines the offer; he’s set on staying on the case. Bernie warns John to stay away from David or else…

His next stop is Margit’s place and since Kenny answers the door, John knows David is there. Margit insists none of the women who claimed her son sexually assaulted them are telling the truth. She also claims she can prove it. John isn’t buying it when Margit says David told her the woman who went public must be in pain to lie like this.

John hates that neither Bernie nor Margit seem overly concerned that Olivia’s still missing. Both Bernie and Margit are consumed with protecting David, and they view Olivia as just an afterthought.

David steps in from the other room and agrees to speak privately with John. David starts the conversation explaining he never knew how to be normal around women. He was famous as a kid and never learned how to interact with women. John steers the conversation toward Olivia’s disappearance and David admits he knows more than he’s let on.

David was involved with a man who trafficked women, but he insists the women weren’t mistreated. John brings up Byron Stallings and David panics. (Byron threatened him, ordering him to keep his name out of John’s investigation.) Reluctantly, David admits to getting women through Byron and then hanging out with him as “conversational acquaintances.” John visibly winces at that description.

David confesses he told Stallings about the women threatening to sue him. He also told Stallings about Olivia telling one woman not to settle or sign an NDA. All of this was happening just as his comeback film was about to be released. David begs John to believe that he thought Stallings was just going to scare Olivia. He thought nothing bad would happen to her. Olivia didn’t like him, so he decided not to like her.

David confirms his mom knows about the women but not about Olivia. He gives John a description of where Stallings lives and says he’s expected back from his trip to Tijuana tomorrow.

John’s had Charlie (Andrea Placido) watching Melanie (Amy Ryan), and Charlie follows Melanie when she leaves her home. Melanie visits her friend who owns a music studio, and they catch up on life. She admits she trusts John Sugar and that they’ve been looking for Olivia together. “It’s not romantic. It’s not sexual. I can’t explain it,” says Melanie.

Kirby in Sugar Episode 5
Kirby and Paul Schulze in ‘Sugar’ season 1 episode 5 (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)

Meanwhile, Ruby (Kirby) meets with the mysterious Miller (Paul Schulze) in the middle of nowhere. They discuss John Sugar and the Olivia Siegel case, and Ruby thinks John’s going to learn things that are best kept secret. Ruby dislikes these “things” but Miller assures her they’re just new methods being used to observe. It’s an incredibly cryptic conversation, with Miller insisting they’re only doing what’s necessary. Miller also insists Ruby should do whatever it takes to stop John from finding out “things.”

It’s dark by the time Melanie makes it home. Charlie sets up surveillance outside and John joins her, while inside the house Melanie’s fighting for her life against one of Stallings’ thugs. She manages to lock herself in a bathroom as John and Charlie talk in the van, unaware of Melanie’s predicament.

John instructs Charlie to surveil Stallings’ place in the morning and then leaves, ready to take a night off. As he’s driving away, he notices the F-150 truck that was outside Teresa’s apartment when Stallings was holding Melanie against her will. He throws his car into reverse and heads into Melanie’s place.

Melanie stabs the thug’s arm with a pair of scissors after he drills a hole in the bathroom door. She hears noises outside the door and realizes someone else is in her house.

John has the upper hand and pummels the thug as Charlie and Melanie yell at him to stop. He finally listens and actually apologizes to the guy whose face he used as a punching bag. John’s going to let him go because it’s Stallings they’re after. This guy’s just a meaningless small fish.

Colin Farrell in Sugar Season 1 Episode 5

Considering what just happened, John suggests that Melanie should stay with him at the hotel. She immediately agrees, and Wiley’s happy to see them both. John admits he wanted to hurt that guy because that guy wanted to hurt Melanie. “I’m sorry if I scared you,’ says a contrite John.

John volunteers to sleep on the couch but Melanie insists she’ll take it. After all, she’s an ex-junkie rock and roller and slept on a couch or two in her younger years.

It’s the dead of night when a bus pulls up next to Stallings’ van. The passengers exit and a woman instructs the younger females to get into the van. She lies and says their families will follow. When one man objects, Stallings has his thug knock him out.

Margit and David drink wine and chat about his big hit as a kid. He recalls it was difficult for him to film one specific scene, and his mom reminds him he ultimately nailed it. David finishes his wine and heads upstairs to the bathroom. He sits and contemplates his life and then makes a rash decision.

David finds his mom’s gun and places it to his head. Echoing his mom’s words from earlier in the day, David says, “F**k this town” and pulls the trigger.

Margit calls Bernie and he rushes over. Bernie finds Margit cradling their son in the bathroom, blood on her clothes and on the floor. He’s critically injured but alive, and the paramedics rush him to the hospital.

John’s in bed with Wiley writing notes about his day. He’s still upset that he reacted so violently to Melanie’s intruder, claiming that’s not who he is. John thinks it’s possible he’s been here too long. (Here? As in LA?)

He promises himself he’ll do better tomorrow. John’s ready for his showdown with Stallings.

He can’t sleep so he grabs a pillow and lays down on the floor next to Melanie’s couch. He confesses he has a secret, and Melanie asks him to share it. The episode ends with John replying, “I can’t.”

‘Hollywood Con Queen’ Trailer: Con Artist Leaves a Trail of Broken Dreams

The official trailer for Apple TV+’s Hollywood Con Queen documentary series features one of the Con Queen’s victims detailing his encounters with the scam artist who preyed on those hoping for a career in the entertainment industry. The three-part documentary series premieres on May 8, 2024.

“A mysterious figure dubbed the ‘Con Queen’ impersonates the industry’s most powerful women, luring unsuspecting victims to Indonesia with the promise of a life-changing career opportunity,” reads Apple TV+’s synopsis. “The ‘Con Queen’s marks exhaust their personal finances in pursuit of a big break while being exploited in a perverse psychological game spanning the globe. The scam eventually draws the attention of veteran investigative journalist Scott Johnson of The Hollywood Reporter, and dedicated private investigator Nicole Kotsianas, formerly of K2 Integrity, who set out to find the truth, only to discover a story more strange than they could have imagined.”

Hollywood Con Queen comes from Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Chris Smith (Tiger King, Fyre, 100 Foot Wave). Smith and Ben Anderson executive produce, with Scott Johnson involved as a consulting producer.
