TLC Cancels Kate Gosselin’s Kate Plus 8

TLC has ended the run of Kate Plus 8, opting to not bring Kate Gosselin and her brood back for another season. The series hit a ratings high two years back when Jon and Kate were in the process of separating, with their marriage troubles well chronicled in the tabloids. Since the couple’s split, the show has lost viewers and now TLC believes it’s time to pull the plug.

“TLC has decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8. By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future,” stated the network.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 debuted on April 23, 2007 with the final season of Kate Plus 8 premiering on April 4, 2011.

Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark star Reeve Carney will play Jeff Buckley in the upcoming still-untitled Jeff Buckley film to be directed by Jake Scott (Welcome to the Rileys). Ryan Jaffe (The Rocker) wrote the script, and Jeff Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, is on board as an executive producer.

Per the official press release, the filmmakers have secured the exclusive rights to Jeff’s music and personal archives. Writer Jaffe was given unlimited access to the Jeff Buckley Estate archives as well as Jeff’s letters, drawings, and personal journals. In addition, the producers picked up the rights to the Dream Brother: The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley book by David Browne to help research the film. Buckley passed away at the age of 30 in a drowning accident.

Filming is expected to begin this November in Memphis and New York.

“We are over the moon that Reeve has agreed to take on this challenging role. I’ve seen him perform several times…he’s been getting ready for this all his life. It certainly doesn’t hurt that he looks so much like Jeff,” said Mary Guibert.

Director Scott stated, “We are excited to have found in Reeve the perfect combination of musical prodigy, impish charm, innate intelligence & sensitivity to play Jeff.”

More on Reeve Carney:
Carney currently stars on Broadway as Peter Parker in the high-profile production of Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark. Reeve also co-starred in Julie Taymor’s The Tempest for Miramax. His current single, ‘Rise Above 1 featuring Bono and The Edge’ (Music From Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark), was performed by the trio on the season finale of American Idol this year. In addition, Reeve and his band Carney opened for U2 on the last stop of the U2 360° tour. Their debut album Mr. Green Vol. 1 is available on DAS Label/Interscope.

More on Jeff Buckley:
Buckley’s only studio release during his lifetime was the widely acclaimed album Grace, which includes his legendary interpretation of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah,’ and is acknowledged by critics as a modern classic. His momentous posthumous album, Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk, garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal for the song ‘Everybody Here Wants You.’ Captivated by the world of music, Buckley lived and breathed it until the last moments of his life. He had said, ‘I was captured by music at a really early age…It was my mother, it was my father, it was my plaything, my toy. The best thing in my life.’

Kid Cudi “No One Believes Me” Music Video from ‘Fright Night’

Kid Cudi’s “No One Believes Me” will definitely get you in the mood for the 2011 version of Fright Night starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, and Toni Collette. It’s a creepy video, and the music’s kind of mesmerizing.

The first poster for Footloose looked sort of retro and obviously was meant to bring up memories of the original dance film starring Kevin Bacon. This second poster featuring Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald goes a different direction, separating itself from its predecessor.

Paramount Pictures is hoping fans will be ready to put on their dancing shoes on October 14, 2011 when the new take on the Footloose story hits theaters.

‘True Blood’ Season 4 Episode 8 Recap: “Spellbound”

Deborah Ann Woll in True Blood

“I come in peace” – no, aliens have not been added to the ever-increasing cast of creatures in True Blood. It’s Stephen Moyer who utters that line in what now stands as the best episode of season four. True Blood‘s totally back on track with episode eight, ‘Spellbound,’ as the writers are bringing all the major plotlines together into one big cohesive ball of True Blood goodness as the series heads into the season’s homestretch.

Here’s a recap of what happened in episode eight. Don’t read on unless A) you’ve seen the episode or B) you won’t get a chance to watch it before next weekend’s episode. It’s a recap, so it’s loaded with spoilers – and you’ve been warned:

Jason (Ryan Kwanten) saves Jessica’s life as she’s stepping into the sun to meet the final death due to a compulsion spell by the witch, Antonia (Fiona Shaw), and her coven (which includes Tara). They know they shouldn’t but can’t help themselves and kiss, which Jason will soon regret but which leads Jessica to decide breaking up with Hoyt’s the only thing to do.

In a clever twist, we get a dream sequence of Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) telling Hoyt (Jim Parrack) that it’s over, which doesn’t go well and ends in Hoyt’s death. Later, we see the true break-up sequence and it’s devastatingly heartbreaking, as is the scene where Jason tells her that just because she’s no longer with Hoyt doesn’t mean they can now be together. Poor Jessica – she has a really rough episode.

Sookie (Anna Paquin, who’ve I’ve got to say has never looked better than she does this year on TB) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) grow ever closer this week – with lots of naked action. For those who’ve read the books, Alan Ball and company tease us with what looks like the shower scene from book 4 but actually evolves into a fairy tale-ish dream sequence involving a bed, a forest, and snow. However, while Sookie and Eric provide the episode with quieter, more romantic moments, it’s all leading up to one of the biggest fight scenes in True Blood‘s history. But more on that in a bit…

Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and Debbie (Brit Morgan) party with the wolf pack, but Debbie’s jealousy over Sookie just continues to grow. She makes Alcide promise to stay away from Sookie and anything to do with vampires, and Alcide tells her he will. And speaking of the wolf pack, Sam (Sam Trammell) goes over to Luna’s (Janina Gavankar) house to play with Barbies. Well, he didn’t go for that specific reason, but that’s what he winds up doing while Luna’s cooking dinner. Their meal is interrupted by Alcide’s pack leader, Marcus (Daniel Buran), who it turns out is Luna’s ex and the father of the Barbie-loving kid Sam’s been growing closer to. Marcus threatens Sam, but Sam’s not one to back down.

Back at Merlotte’s, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) is still seeing dead people, including the ghost who’s been talking to Arlene (Carrie Preston) and Terry’s (Todd Lowe) baby boy. Later in the episode, Lafayette has a dream which explains why this dead woman is so obsessed with the baby. And then it all gets really freaky when the ghost possesses Lafayette and he heads to the Bellefleur home, where Arlene and Terry are staying after a mysterious fire burned down their rental unit. There, he quietly picks up a gun and heads into the bedroom where Arlene, Terry, and the baby are sleeping.

Elsewhere around Bon Temps, Jason has to keep Sheriff Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) from sucking up dead vampire blood off the sidewalk. Gross. Tommy (Marshall Allman) steals clothes and personal items from Hoyt’s mom and shapeshifts into her to fool the oil man who is willing to pay for the use of her land.

And, finally, Bill arranges for a meeting at midnight in the Bon Temps graveyard with Antonia. Although they’ve both agreed to come alone, both actually are backed by their loyal followers (including, on the vampire’s side, Eric and Sookie). After the shortest-ever attempt at negotiating a peace deal, all hell breaks loose and both sides take to fighting. During the melee, Pam (Kristin Bauer) has her shot at killing Tara (Rutina Wesley), however, Bill commands her to leave Tara alone – forever.

The combination of smoke/fog and the lack of lightning make it difficult to tell who’s winning, but during the fighting, Sookie is shot and Eric is put under another spell by Antonia. Oh, and Alcide breaks his promise to Debbie and shows up to rescue Sookie.

Can’t wait to see what happens next week!

Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren welcomed their second child on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Haven Garner Warren was born at Cedars Sinai and weighed 7 lbs and was 19 inches long.

“Healthy and happy! Big sister Honor couldn’t be more excited about the new addition to our family,” said Alba on her Facebook page.

Alba added, “Thank you for all of your support during my pregnancy. It means the world to me.”

Alba’s been keeping fans up-to-date on her pregnancy on iVillage, and just days prior to giving birth to Haven, she wrote, “The idea of loving someone as much as I love Honor is something I haven’t wrapped my head around yet. But I know I will and I can’t wait. As a mother carrying a baby we get to bond while the baby is growing – reaching each milestone, feeling hiccups, kicks, rolling around. It’s the blessing I think we get for all the round-ligament pain, sciatic pain and frequent trips to the bathroom.”

In addition to welcoming a new baby, Alba will be welcoming a new film into theaters this Friday when the fourth Spy Kids film, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, hits theaters.

Comedy Central announced they’ve just greenlit Brickleberry, an animated series about dysfunctional forest rangers at a national park. Daniel Tosh executive produces and Waco O’Guin and Roger Black wrote and created the animated series, which will premiere in early 2012.

Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes of the animated series. “Daniel Tosh pointed a gun at our heads and asked if we would put this series on the air, and we agreed that would be a good idea,” said Kent Alterman, the network’s head of original programming and production. “It’s a bonus that it’s so funny.”

“This is going to be on TV?” asked Tosh. “I thought this was a comic strip?”

“This is a dream come true for us,” said O’Guin on meeting Tosh. “He’s gorgeous.”

“Getting a show on COMEDY CENTRAL is cool too,” added Black.

According to the official press release announcing the series, the “inspiration for Brickleberry was O’Guin’s father-in-law who is a former park ranger. Black attempted to poke fun at him at O’Guin’s wedding and he dislocated two of his fingers.”
