From 429 Records’ press release:
Music is in Tim Robbins’ blood. Raised in a musical household, both parents met as members of the UCLA marching band. His father, Gilbert Robbins, went on to join the influential folk ensemble The Highwaymen in the early sixties. Steeped in a creative environment, Robbins’ first memories include hanging out as a child at the Gaslight in Greenwich Village which his father managed. Says Robbins: “My first desire to perform came from watching him on stage. I remember it as so intoxicating. Audiences were encouraged to sing along and be part of the event. That is a relationship I’ve been seeking all my life, that alchemy between performer and audience.”
The years leading up to his recording debut at age 50 were spent finding his voice as a songwriter and performer. Robbins has long written songs and performed in small venues but has kept it under the radar – until now. “I have too much respect for music to put out something that wasn’t coming from a genuine place.” Before recording his first album Robbins wanted to “understand what my voice was and what kind of stories I wanted to tell. I think I’m ready to tell those stories now.”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 shattered box office records over its first three days in release and the question now seems to be just how much will it wind up taking in before this final film of the series exits theaters. Deathly Hallows 2 opened to an astounding $476 million worldwide which moved it ahead of the all-time opening weekend record held by another Warner Bros film, The Dark Knight. $168 million of that came from the domestic box office (a new opening weekend record) with $307 million taken in internationally (also a new record).
The eighth Harry Potter film also now holds the single-day box office, best opening day box office, and biggest Friday box office records. In addition, the film set a new IMAX opening weekend record of $23.5 million.
Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution Dan Fellman stated, “These numbers are amazing, but they are only part of the story. It is impossible to quantify how thrilled and grateful we all are that both critics and audiences—especially loyal Harry Potter fans—continue to support the film. This is the culmination of an extraordinary decade, and a reflection of the hard work and dedication of many, many people on both sides of the camera, beginning with the brilliant J.K. Rowling, as well as producer David Heyman. We applaud them all.”
President of International Distribution Veronika Kwan-Rubinek remarked, “Harry Potter is truly a cultural phenomenon the world over. Whether in German, French, Japanese, Russian, or any language, international audiences have embraced the Harry Potter films over the years, with the powerful finale punctuating just how special the property is. We congratulate everyone associated with the films on this monumental achievement.”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was directed by David Yates and was the first film of the series to be released in 2D and 3D.

In this brief behind-the-scenes video from Paramount Pictures’ Captain America: The First Avenger, we get a look at a few more of the action scenes and get to hear Chris Evans talk about the fan’s love of the character. Director Joe Johnston also explains what sets the character of Captain America apart from other comic book-inspired creations.
The Plot: It is 1941, and the world is being torn apart by war. After repeatedly trying to enlist in the military to do his part and fight alongside his brothers and sisters in the Allied Forces, the young and scrappy 98-pound Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is accepted to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super-Soldier known as Captain America.
In his muscular new incarnation, Captain America joins forces with his friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and the confident Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), under the command of Colonel Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones), to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization—the Nazi’s deep science division—led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
Captain America: The First Avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe — later populated with such superheroes as Iron Man, the Hulk, and Thor…When wars were fought with weapons but won by men.
Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Ralph Fiennes’ handsome face has been hidden beneath makeup and prosthetics throughout the Harry Potter film series, and in fact unless you knew who was under the grotesque makeup, you likely wouldn’t know it was Fiennes playing Lord Voldemort (boo hiss!). Fiennes has played a pivotal role in the series, and now with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 arriving in theaters and finishing out the Harry Potter story, he’s had time to reflect on the experience.
In this interview video provided by Warner Bros Pictures, Fiennes discusses Voldemort’s rage against the world, evil people, getting to Harry, and the physical battle scenes:

It appears Mila Kunis won’t be the only Hollywood star heading to the Marine Corps Ball this November. After her Friends with Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake encouraged her to accept a date from Sgt. Scott Moore, it didn’t take long for a female Marine to extend an invitation to Timberlake.
Asked about what he thinks of the invitation from Kelsey De Santis, Timberlake told reporters at a Friends with Benefits press conference that he would say yes to being De Santis’ Marine Corp Ball date.
“I’ll tell you what, I accept. But not because she shouted out one of my songs, which I do love when they do that because I’m shameless,” joked Timberlake. “And not because she had all those military guys behind her to try and intimidate me – although that probably would have worked by itself. I don’t get asked out ever, so I was very flattered by that. And I hear that she’s trained in martial arts so I’m hoping we can tussle at some point. That last part was a joke. But yeah, if my schedule works out I’d love to do it. It’s an honor.”
The author of The Firm, John Grisham, is bringing his bestselling novel to the small screen as writer/producer with a new series on NBC. The Firm‘s already made the transition to a feature film (starring Tom Cruise), and NBC’s hoping audiences are ready to embrace a series based on the book.
In this interview provided by NBC, Grisham talks about how The Firm changed his career, updating the story 10 years later, and creating a character-driven legal drama.
Based on the best-selling novel by world-renowned author John Grisham, The Firm is a new drama series that continues the story of attorney Mitchell McDeere (Josh Lucas), who, as a young associate 10 years earlier, had brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, which had been operating as a front for the Chicago mob.
After a difficult decade, which included a stay in the Federal Witness Protection Program, McDeere and his family now emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future — only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere.
Abby McDeere (Molly Parker), Mitch’s supportive, smart, and resourceful wife, who had helped her husband expose Bendini, Lambert & Locke, is excited to start a new life in Washington, D.C., as a school teacher and mom to their daughter, Claire (Natasha Calis).
Ray McDeere (Callum Keith Rennie) is Mitch’s charming, yet volatile, older brother whose work as an investigator in Mitch’s office is uniquely informed by his past stretch in prison for manslaughter. Despite a gritty past that stands in stark contrast to that of his Harvard-grad brother, Ray shares one key quality with Mitch – a loyalty that is unbreakable.
Tammy Hemphill (Juliette Lewis) is Mitch’s feisty, sexy receptionist whose work life is made all the more tumultuous by her on-again, off-again relationship with Ray. With a personality as arresting as her ever-changing hair color, Tammy is leery when Mitch accepts a deal to partner with a top law practice, as she’s not cut out for the conservative culture of a white-shoe firm.
In this video supplied by NBC, Amber Heard discusses the appeal of starring in The Playboy Club, putting on the iconic Playboy Bunny costume, and her character’s backstory. The cast of the drama series also includes Eddie Cibrian, Laura Benanti, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Naturi Naughton, and David Krumholtz.
The Plot: Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian) is the ultimate playboy and one of the city’s top attorneys, rubbing elbows with everyone in the Windy City’s power structure. With mysterious and complicated ties to the mob, he comes to the aid of Maureen (Amber Heard), the stunning and innocent new Bunny at the club, who accidentally kills the patriarch of the Bianchi crime family. Dating Nick is Carol-Lynne (Laura Benanti), a bombshell of a beauty and an established star at the Playboy Club who’s ready to be more than a Bunny. As she seeks an opportunity to elevate her stature even higher at the club, she can’t help but notice that something is developing between Nick and Maureen.
Adding to the charm of the club is Janie (Jenna Dewan), the foxy and carefree life of the party who is dating Max (Wes Ramsey), a sweet and romantic bartender. Brenda (Naturi Naughton), a stunning beauty with a dry wit, has big aspirations. Bunny Alice (Leah Renee) manages to take care of everyone but herself, and while married, is hiding a huge secret from everyone. Pearl (Jenifer Lewis) is the club’s seamstress who’s been there since day one and knows more about what it takes to survive than anyone.
Running the club and answering only to the top is general manager Billy Morton (David Krumholtz), who also shares a close friendship with Nick. With all of these larger-than-life ambitions, there are even greater secrets. It’s a good thing Hef’s Playboy Mansion is open after hours for a little R&R – and burying your past.
David Giuntoli from NBC’s fantasy drama Grimm discusses the many genres the show touches on, how this show’s different than the typical cop drama, and the show’s target audience.
