‘New Year’s Eve’ – Trailer, Cast, and Plot Details

Don’t call New Year’s Eve a sequel to Valentine’s Day, but it does have some of the same cast, pretty much the same plot, and is directed by Garry Marshall. The PG-13 romantic comedy heads to theaters slightly before New Year’s Eve on December 9, 2011.

Garry Marshall loves big-name ensemble casts, and he’s filled out his latest effort with plenty of recognizable names including Ashton Kutcher, Zac Efron, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Josh Duhamel, Katherine Heigl, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Hilary Swank. The ensemble also includes Sofia Vergara, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Ludacris Bridges, Robert De Niro, Hector Elizondo, Jake T Austin, and Seth Meyers.

But we’re not quite done yet… Also ringing in the new year are Sarah Paulson, Larry Miller, Jack McGee, Yeardley Smith, Lea Michele, Jim Belushi, Sarah Jessica Parker, Til Schweiger, Cary Elwes, Alyssa Milano, Carla Gugino, and Common.

‘The Muppets’ – Trailer, Plot Details, and Cast

They’re back! Disney’s bringing our favorite lovable Muppets back to the big screen in an all-new adventure. Muppets fan James Bobin directs the musical comedy that’s heading to theaters on November 23, 2011.

Official Synopsis: On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds.

To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

Interesting The Muppets trivia provided by Walt Disney Pictures:

  • Funnyman Jason Segel stars in, co-writes and executive produces The Muppets.
  • The Muppets is directed by James Bobin, who was a director/writer/EP for HBO’s Flight of the Conchords.
  • Kermit received a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002. His song “The Rainbow Connection” was nominated for an Academy Award.
  • Bret McKenzie, who starred in, wrote for and served as composer for HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, is the music supervisor for The Muppets, as well as the writer/producer on some of the songs, which include big Muppet-style opening and closing numbers.
  • It’s been 11 years since the Muppets’ last big-screen feature film.

Among the celebrities showing up for cameos are Emily Blunt, James Carville, Leslie Feist, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, and Dave Grohl. Neil Patrick Harris, Judd Hirsch, John Krasinski, Rico Rodriguez, and Mickey Rooney also pop in for a little screen time with the Muppets.

Steve Whitmire voices Kermit, Beaker, Statler, and Rizzo. Eric Jacobson handles the voices of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Sam Eagle, and Marvin Suggs. Dave Goelz provides the voices of Gonzo, Dr Bunsen Honeydew, Zoot, Beauregard, Waldorf, and Kermit Moopet.





‘Hugo’ – Trailer, Photos and Cast

Director Martin Scorsese tackles his first 3D film with Hugo [formerly known as Hugo Cabret]. The family-friendly film is based on the 2007 book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick.

Asa Butterfield stars as Hugo Cabret, Chloe Grace Moretz plays Isabelle, Sacha Baron Cohen is Station Inspector, and Ben Kingsley is Pappa Georges / Georges Méliès. Jude Law plays Hugo’s father, Ray Winstone is Uncle Claude, Christopher Lee is Monsieur Labisse, Helen McCrory is Mama Jeanne, and Richard Griffiths plays Monsieur Frick.

Additional cast includes Frances de la Tour as Madame Emilie, Emily Mortimer as Lisette, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Rene Tabard.

The PG-rated film opens in theaters on November 23, 2011.

Official Synopsis: Hugo tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart-shaped lock, seemingly without a key.

James McAvoy and Hugh Laurie lend their voices to the animated holiday comedy Arthur Christmas opening in theaters on November 23, 2011. Sarah Smith and Barry Cook directed the family-friendly film that’s rated PG for some mild rude humor.

James McAvoy voices the title character and Hugh Laurie is Steve, Jim Broadbent is Santa, Bill Nighy is Grandsanta, and Imelda Staunton voices Mrs Santa. Ashley Jensen is Bryony, Marc Wootton is Peter, Laura Linney is North Pole Computer, Eva Longoria is Chief De Silva, Ramona Marquez is Gwen, and Michael Palin provides the voice of Ernie Clicker.

The Twilight Saga is drawing to a close, with the first half of the final Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, finding our favorite vampire/high school couple moving their relationship forward in major ways.

Directed by Bill Condon, the PG-13 drama will open in theaters on November 18, 2011.

The singing and dancing penguins are back for more animated adventures in Happy Feet Two. George Miller returns to direct the sequel, which is heading to theaters on November 18, 2011.

The voice cast is led by Elijah Wood as Mumble and Robin Williams as Ramon/Lovelace. Brad Pitt is Will the Krill, Pink is Gloria, Matt Damon is Bill the Krill, Ava Acres is Erik, Hank Azaria is Sven, and Benjamin Lil P-Nut Flores Jr voices Atticus. Meibh Campbell is Bo, Common voices Seymour, Hugo Weaving is Noah the Elder, Carlos Alazraqui is Nestor, and Lombardo Boyar is Raul.

Additional voice cast members include Jeff Garcia as Rinaldo, Johnny Sanchez III as Lombardo, Sofia Vergara as Carmen, and Richard Carter as Bryan the Beachmaster.

Official Synopsis: Mumble, The Master of Tap, has a problem because his tiny son, Erik, is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven — a penguin who can fly! Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model.

But things get worse when the world is shaken by powerful forces.

Erik learns of his father’s “guts and grit” as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures — from tiny Krill to giant Elephant Seals — to put things right.

Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes team up for the PG-rated comedy Jack and Jill. Directed by Dennis Dugan, Jack and Jill is set to open in theaters on November 11, 2011.

Adam Sandler stars as Jack and Jill, Katie Holmes plays Erin, and Al Pacino plays himself. The cast also includes Elodie Tougne as Sofia, Rohan Chand as Gary, Eugenio Derbezas Felipe/Felipe’s Grandma, David Spade as Monica, Nick Swardson as Todd, and Tim Meadows as Ted.

Allen Covert plays Otto, Norm Macdonald is Funbucket, Geoff Pierson is Carter Simmons, Valerie Mahaffey is Bitsy Simmons, Gary Valentine is Dallas, and Dana Carvey plays Scraggly Puppeteer. Regis Philbin and Shaq put in cameo appearances.

Official Synopsis:Jack and Jill is a comedy focusing on Jack Sadelstein (Adam Sandler), a successful advertising executive in Los Angeles with a beautiful wife and kids, who dreads one event each year: the Thanksgiving visit of his identical twin sister Jill (also Adam Sandler). Jill’s neediness and passive-aggressiveness is maddening to Jack, turning his normally tranquil life upside down. Katie Holmes plays Erin, Jack’s wife.

Director Tarsem Singh’s well known for his visual style, and with Immortals he goes back in time to bring to life a Greek mythology story.

Henry Cavill stars as Theseus, Luke Evans is Zeus, Mickey Rourke plays King Hyperion, Stephen Dorff is Stavros, and Freida Pinto stars as Phaedra. The cast also includes Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Isabel Lucas as Athena, John Hurt as Old Man, Joseph Morgan as Lysander, and Peter Stebbings as Helios.

Rated R, the fantasy action drama opens in theaters on November 11, 2011.

Ben Stiller leads the cast of the comedy film Tower Heist from director Brett Ratner. The PG-13 caper will be opening in theaters on November 4, 2011.

Joining Ben Stiller are Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck, Alan Alda, and Matthew Broderick. Judd Hirsch, Téa Leoni, Michael Peña, and Gabourey Sidibe also star.

Official Synopsis: Queens native Josh Kovacs (Stiller) has managed one of the most luxurious and well-secured residences in New York City for more than a decade. The suave cat in the cute little boots gets his own Shrek spin-off, Puss in Boots. Antonio Banderas lends his voice to the swashbuckling cat and Salma Hayek voices Kitty Softpaws.

The voice cast also includes Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Dumpty, Billy Bob Thornton as Jack, and Amy Sedaris as Jill. Chris Miller directs the PG-rated animated film heading to theaters on October 28, 2011.
