‘Chucky’ Season 3: Alyvia Alyn Lind Interview on Lexy’s Arc

The Chucky TV series introduced a new group of kids for the killer doll to terrorize. One of them is Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind). Lexy was not friends with Jake (Zackary Arthur) and Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson) at first. She even went as Jake’s dead father for Halloween. But after Chucky terrorized her family, Lexy teamed up with the boys, and used drugs to help cope.

Chucky kidnapped Lexy’s younger sister after murdering their parents, and now the trio are trying to get close to Chucky again to find her and stop him. That’s tough when he’s in the White House.

Lind was at the NBC Universal party for the Television Critics Association with the cast of Chucky. We spoke with her about the new episodes this month and her work on all three seasons. Chucky returns Wednesday at 10 p.m. on both Syfy and USA.

What an amazing arc Lexy has had every season, from being a mean girl to being in recovery and maybe finding love this season. Has that been amazing to get to play?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “Yeah. I’m so grateful to Don to give me so many storylines and different things to play. Season one was so much fun getting to be a mean girl. Season two was very hard but very rewarding getting to do the whole drug storyline and getting to do all the research to play that accurately. Now season three she’s trying to find her sister. She’s taking on the mama bear role while feeling true love which she has not really felt before. It’s definitely a lot of things that she’s dealing with and going through.”

I hope this means something to you. Obviously, I started watching the show for Chucky, but I really hope Lexy makes it. I know bad stuff has to happen to her for drama, but I’m really pulling for her.

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “I am too. Whenever I play a character, I try to be on the character’s side no matter how terrible they are and always try to give them a sense of vulnerability and make the audience love them. Try to give her as much vulnerability as possible so that the viewers watching not only hate her but also feel bad for her in a way and are always rooting for her.”

Has that turned by season three now that we’ve seen that vulnerability, and she’s been through so much?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “She’s gone through a lot. She definitely needs some therapy.”

Where do we pick up in episode five?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “We pick up right where we left off, right after the chandelier crash, right after finding out Chucky is aging and dying. We are just right back into it, all the chaos and the nonsense and everything in between.”

Is she still dating the President’s son?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “She is, not dating. We don’t necessarily know yet if she’s catching feelings for him, if she’s using him. And I don’t really know if she knows what she feels either. I think that she went into it just wanting to be no feelings involved, get the job done and get out. I think it was a little harder than that. Now she’s starting to feel something for him, and I’m really excited for the fans to see where that storyline goes.”

Obviously it can’t be too much of that, but is there a part of you that just wants Lexy to have a normal teenage life?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “Oh yeah, always. I want her to just be able to. The other thing about the show is that it’s so much crazy stuff going on and killer dolls and gore and craziness, but then it’s also rooted in reality with the four teens because they are just normal teenagers. Getting to see their coming-of-age story and things that they’re going through. Those are my favorite scenes to play when it’s just us real talking about teen stuff.”

Is aging Chucky more or less formidable now?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “I don’t know. I don’t think that either of them are. I think that it’s been so much fun to work with both of them. Old Chucky’s disgusting and super creepy looking and just decrepit and gross and is really eerie and disturbing. So that was really interesting and kind of shocking. But you’ve got to love working with good old Chucky.”

In the season premiere, Lexy uses social media to ask for information on her sister. Did you have any freedom about what her post would be or was it specifically scripted?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: “It was mostly planned out. I remember reading the script for the first time where it was the TikTok dance. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, what is this going to look like? What am I going to do for this?’ But I think it’s a really smart idea. There are so many things that you can find on social media these days and so many ways that it can be helpful, so I think it’s exactly what Lexy would be doing.”

‘Chucky’ Season 3: Jennifer Tilly Interview on Her Love of the Franchise

Chucky Season 3 Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany in ‘Chucky’ season 3 (Photo Credit: SYFY)

Jennifer Tilly’s relationship with Chucky has lasted longer than most celebrity marriages. She was the Bride of Chucky in 1998. Thanks to 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Tilly has been playing herself in the series, too. And I’ve been talking to her since before Seed, and even moderated a Bride screening Q&A she attended.

So when I saw Tilly at the NBC Universal party for the Television Critics Association, Tilly saw my badge and said, “Oh, it’s Fred Topel, I have to talk to him.” Season three of Chucky left off with Tiffany (Tilly) in prison for the murders she committed in Jennifer Tilly’s body. Spoiler warning for past episodes of Chucky, and the twist of Fight Club if you’ve never seen that.

Chucky returns Wednesday at 10 p.m. on Syfy and USA.

Did you think anything would ever get crazier than Seed of Chucky?

Jennifer Tilly: “I did not and I actually thought Seed of Chucky might be the end of the road. I’m very fond of Seed of Chucky. It was much reviled in the Chucky fandom because everybody just thought it was too cray cray. But they’re all coming around and now people are like, ‘Oh my God, we really love that. We love Glen/Glenda.’ And a lot of the things that happened in Seed of Chucky got incorporated into the Chucky television series. So, I think Seed of Chucky gave me longevity within the Chucky universe because there were so many crazy tendrils and storylines in that.”

When they did your trial and prison episode this season, was that even crazier than Seed?

Jennifer Tilly: “Oh my gosh, I think so. I think the last three seasons of Chucky have been crazier than anything that came before. Don is insanely inventive and he tends to go particularly over the top when it comes to Tiffany. I think, in a weird way, Tiffany is his alter ego. You know, like in Fight Club where Brad Pitt is the alter ego of the lead character. I think that Don, when he looks at Tiffany, he’s like, ‘Ooh, what can I make Tiffany do now?’ This year’s sort of a parody of women behind bars, which is so much fun for me and for Don.

The second half is going to be even more insane. John Waters is making an appearance as a crazy dealmaker who created Chucky. There’s a voodoo element. I voodooed Nia Vardalos to death in the first half. That was crazy. I think the second half of season three is going to be crazier than anything you’ve seen before.”

Does Tiffany have her own prison gang?

Jennifer Tilly: “It seems like she would have a girl gang. It seems like she would have her squad, her own Pink Ladies, but unfortunately, Tiffany is a big threat and they put her in solitary. So, she didn’t make any friends in prison except for all the prison guards that she enchanted with voodoo.”

Chucky Season 3 Jennifer Tilly

Was the line about Austin Butler staying in the Elvis accent in the script or something you improvised?

Jennifer Tilly: “Oh yeah, that was in the script. Don Mancini wrote that. I thought that was very clever.”

Is Chucky blurring the lines for you of who Jennifer Tilly is and who Tiffany is?

Jennifer Tilly: “Not really, but last season we had a crazy episode where all my real friends came to visit. So, Sutton Strack and my sister came playing my actual sister, and I got to kill her [which] was a dream come true. But now Tiffany is being Tiffany again. Jennifer Tilly is gone. Jennifer Tilly perished, unfortunately, in season two so she’s just Tiffany.”

That was quite an arc for the fake Jennifer Tilly.

Jennifer Tilly: “Yes, it was. Lots of drama. I always get annoyed when I open up the script and Don has written in a very dramatic scene where I have to cry. So, I’m like, ‘Don, I don’t like to work that hard.’ But I have lots of very dramatic scenes in the second half.”

However, strength and speed alone won’t be enough to win $500,000. Rather, only those with the strongest will to survive can claim this life-changing prize.”

The reality competition series is executive produced by Jeff Hasler, Brian Lovett, and Meredith Prunkard. Jeff Conroy serves as executive producer and showrunner. The season premieres on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11pm ET/PT with a 75-minute episode.

The duos must brave the foreign land and elements while realizing the fastest route might not always be the safest. In each leg of the race, the last team to reach the finish line will be eliminated from the competition. If the teams can endure physical pain, an unforgiving environment and each other, for long enough, they just might be able to claim the $500,000 grand prize.”

‘Under the Bridge’ Series Details: Cast, Plot, Trailer and Premiere Date

Hulu optioned Rebecca Godfrey’s Under the Bridge: The True Story of the Murder of Reena Virk back in 2022, and the limited series based on the bestseller is finally set to stream this month. Emmy nominee Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six) stars as the late author of the 2005 true crime novel, and Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) stars as a small town police officer intimately involved in the investigation.

Under the Bridge is based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk (Gupta) who went to join friends at a party and never returned home,” reads Hulu’s synopsis. “Through the eyes of Godfrey (Keough) and a local police officer (Gladstone), the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.”

Author Rebecca Godfrey passed away of lung cancer in October 2022, just weeks after signing the deal with Hulu on an adaptation of her story of Virk’s brutal murder. In a 2019 Q&A with Interview, Godfrey discussed her initial interest in the horrifying case.

“I was living in New York City. This would’ve been in the late ’90s, and I was working on a novel about teenage girls in my hometown of Victoria, British Columbia. Then I started getting all these calls from friends that there had been a murder in Victoria,” explained Godfrey. “I went home soon after and went into the prison. I was just stunned because the girls all looked like normal, cool, young teenage girls, not particularly like killers.”

Under the Bridge
Chloe Guidry, Izzy G, Vritika Gupta, and Aiyana Goodfellow in ‘Under the Bridge’ (Disney)

In addition to Keough and Gladstone, Under the Bridge stars Vritika Gupta as murder victim Reena Virk, with Archie Panjabi and Ezra Faroque Khan playing her parents. The cast also includes Chloe Guidry, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Izzy G., and Aiyana Goodfellow.

Quinn Shephard adapted Godfrey’s book for the limited series and serves as an executive producer. Godfrey has a posthumous executive producer credit. Additional executive producers include Samir Mehta, Liz Tigelaar, Stacey Silverman, Riley Keough, Gina Gammell, and Tara Duncan. Quinn Shephard, Geeta Patel, Kevin Phillips, Catherine Hardwicke, Nimisha Mukerji, and Dinh Thai directed the limited series.

Episode one, “Looking Glass,” and two, “The John Gotti of Seven Oaks,” premiere on April 17, 2024. New episodes follow on Wednesdays.

Blue Bloods Description, Courtesy of CBS:

Blue Bloods is a drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank Reagan is the New York Police Commissioner and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood. He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry, during his stint as chief.

A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son, Danny, a seasoned detective, family man, and Iraq War vet who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner Detective Maria Baez. Erin, the middle daughter, is a New York assistant D.A. who serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father. Jamie is the youngest Reagan, a Harvard Law graduate, and the family’s golden boy. Unable to deny the family tradition, Jamie decided to give up a lucrative future in law and follow in the family footsteps as a cop. He’s found a friend and ally in his wife, Eddie, who keeps him on his toes and has very different reasons than the Reagans for joining the police force.
