‘Griselda’ Official Trailer Starring Sofia Vergara

Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) stars as Griselda Blanco, known as The Godmother of the underworld, in Netflix’s Griselda. The new trailer reveals Griselda’s not just a savvy businesswoman and mother, she’s also a killer who basically owns Miami.

“From the earliest days of my research for what became Narcos, [Griselda] leapt out at me as a fascinating character,” said series creator Eric Newman in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “I have always endeavored to humanize complicated people, many of whom have been considered evil, and Griselda offered both the greatest challenge and opportunity.”

In addition to Vergara, the six-episode limited series stars Alberto Guerra as Dario Sepúlveda, Christian Tappan as Arturo Mesa, Martín Rodríguez as Rivi Ayala, Juliana Aidén Martinez as June Hawkins, and Vanessa Ferlito as Carmen Gutiérrez. Carolina Giraldo (a.k.a Karol G), Fredy Yate, Paulina Dávila, José Zúñiga, Camilo Jiménez Varón, Julieth Restrepo, Gabriel Sloyer, Diego Trujillo, and Alberto Ammann guest star.

Discussing her lengthy involvement in developing the series, star/executive producer Vergara said she wanted to challenge herself by diving into this complex character.

“She’s not a hero, and many of the things she did were very terrible. But she was also very interesting. There were so many nuances to explore in terms of who she really was — as a cartel leader and a fearless businesswoman in Miami in the ‘70s, and of course, as a woman, as a mother. That was not a very usual mix. She was someone who did whatever it took to protect her family. At least, that’s what she supposedly said was driving her. I really wanted to explore that from the point of view of her being one of the only women in history to have gone as far as she did.”

Newman and his co-creators Doug Miro, Ingrid Escajeda, and Carlo Bernard serve as executive producers along with Andrés Baiz and Luis Balaguer. Baiz directs all six episodes, and Escajeda and Miro are co-showrunners.

Griselda premieres on January 25, 2024.

“There has never been a woman who came close to achieving the power, wealth, and respect that Griselda did. And no trafficker, woman or man, ever elicited the same level of fear,” said Newman. “Griselda is a rise-and-fall story like none we have ever seen before. It’s thrilling, emotional, funny, scary, and tragic. Griselda is an antihero of the highest order and a series of contradictions at odds with herself.”

The Plot, Courtesy of Netflix:

Griselda is inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. In 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helped her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as “the Godmother.”

‘Ted’ Series Preview: The Cast, Photos, Plot and Full Trailer

Ted, the raunchy R-rated talking bear, is front and center in Peacock’s new event series that delves into the stuffed bear’s past, prior to the Ted films. Seth MacFarlane returns to the world he created as writer, executive producer, director, co-showrunner, and the voice of the talking bear, with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh serving as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners.

The official trailer confirms Ted’s behavior and language haven’t been cleaned up for the streaming service’s series. No, this is the same trash-talking stuffed bear audiences loved in the 2012 and 2015 movies.

“Each generation develops its own unique artistic style, its own way of seeing the world. In the twenties, it was the subversive musical phrasings of jazz. In the fifties, it was the bold brushwork of the abstract expressionists. Our generation’s unique art is streaming content based on previously successful intellectual property. In that proud tradition, we humbly give you Ted,” stated MacFarlane, Corrigan, and Walsh.

The trio’s statement continued: “Our series is a prequel to the Ted movies. It takes place in the nineties but is based on the timeless truth that being sixteen sucks. The only thing that makes it tolerable is going through it with a friend, even if that friend is a has-been magical teddy bear with a foul mouth and a proclivity for drug use.

The three of us were teenagers in the nineties and grew up in and around Boston, where the show takes place, so many of these stories are personal for us. We were able to put the characters through some of the same indignities and milestones we experienced back then. Also, we made stuff up (it’s a lot of pages to fill and real life is mostly boring).”

The cast includes Max Burkholder as Ted’s BFF, 16-year-old John Bennett. Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach play John’s parents, Matty and Susan. And Giorgia Whigham is John’s cousin Blaire.

The seven episode series premieres on January 11, 2024. Episode one is supersized, while the remaining six are 30 minutes each.

The original Ted film grossed $549 million during its theatrical release. The sequel failed to live up to its predecessor’s numbers, grossing $215 million worldwide.

CBS’s popular half-hour comedy Bob ♥ Abishola will wrap up with its upcoming fifth season. Season five will premiere on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 8:30pm ET/PT and will air its season/series finale on May 13th.

Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku lead the cast in the titular roles. The comedy also stars Christine Ebersole as Dottie, Matt Jones as Douglas, Maribeth Monroe as Christina, Vernee Watson as Gloria, Shola Adewusi as Auntie Olu, and Barry Shabaka Henley as Uncle Tunde.

“We are so proud to call Bob ♥ Abishola a CBS comedy as it helped establish a new generation of programming at the Network,” stated Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “This series expertly showcased a family love story and workplace comedy about the immigrant experience with heartfelt humor and emotion while also authentically portraying Nigerian culture. It’s a testament to the incomparable Chuck Lorre, the amazing creative team led by Al Higgins, Gina Yashere, and Matt Ross, and the talents of Billy Gardell, Folake Olowofoyeku, and the entire cast for making this show and its characters come to life and resonate with viewers. We plan to celebrate it this spring and give fans the most amazing episodes to remember it by.”

CBS offers this synopsis of the series: “Bob ♥ Abishola is a love story about Bob (Gardell), a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly fell for his cardiac nurse, Abishola (Olowofoyeku), a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack, and set his sights on winning her over. Undaunted by Abishola’s lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob was determined to win her heart, and eventually married her, in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America.”

Bob ♥ Abishola is about an unlikely love story, but also the premise that immigrants make America great,” said executive producers Gina Yashere, Matt Ross and Chuck Lorre. “We’ve loved bringing these stories to life and are excited for fans to see the final chapter of these two families, and the incredible work of this talented cast and crew.”
