FX’s Breeders starring Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard will end with its upcoming fourth season. The network has set a July 31, 2023 premiere date for the popular half-hour comedy and confirmed the series will wrap up with season four.
Breeders debuted in March 2020, followed by season two in March 2021 and season three in May 2022. The upcoming fourth season will consist of 10 episodes, with the first two airing on July 31st. New episodes will arrive on Mondays at 10pm ET/PT.
Oscar nominee and Emmy Award winner Simon Blackwell (In the Loop, Veep) created the series along with Emmy winner and DGA winner Chris Addison (Veep) and Emmy winner Martin Freeman (Sherlock). Blackwell serves as showrunner and executive produces with Addison, Freeman, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, David Martin, Toby Welch, and Michael Wiggs.
Chris Addison directs season four’s first five episodes. Ollie Parsons (Man Like Mobeen) directs the final five.
FX offered this description of the final season: It’s five years since we last saw the Worsley family, caught up in the dramatic events at the end of season three — “Paul” (Martin Freeman) and “Ally” (Daisy Haggard) on the verge of splitting up, “Jim” (Alun Armstrong) and “Jackie” (Joanna Bacon) in turmoil, “Luke” finding a new relationship and “Ava” mending an old one.
Season four of Breeders brings the biggest parenting challenge that Paul and Ally have ever faced, as 18-year-old Luke (Oscar Kennedy) drops a bombshell at Christmas dinner that will change everyone’s lives forever. No longer in Luke’s shadow, 16-year-old Ava (Zoë Athena) experiences her own bombshell moment as she meets and immediately falls for the charismatic “Holly” (Jessie Williams). Paul and Ally continue to try, fail and try again as they face these latest parenting challenges, while also having to support the increasingly troubled Jim and Jackie.
Peacock’s new true crime documentary series Myth of the Zodiac Killer reexamines the evidence collected, including the letters and cryptograms, using new technology. The trailer for the two-part docuseries reveals investigators will be using AI to help figure out if all of the correspondence was, in fact, written by just one individual.
Peacock offers this description of the docuseries premiering on Tuesday, July 11, 2023: “The identity of the serial killer known as ‘The Zodiac’ has been confounding investigators for nearly fifty years, but an unlikely and unconventional theorist may have finally shed light to America’s most famous cold case by asking a question that no one else has ever dared ask: what if the reason the Zodiac has never been caught…is because he never existed in the first place?”
Andrew Nock directed the documentary series and serves as an executive producer along with David Karabinas, Brad Bernstein, James Buddy Day, Anne Garofalo Paterno, and Cynthia Childs.

The Zodiac Killer began terrorizing Northern California with the murder of David Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen in Vallejo, CA on December 20, 1968. The still unidentified killer followed that up by stabbing Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard on July 4, 1969 at Lake Berryessa. Shepard died of her injuries, but Hartnell survived the brutal attack.
The killing spree continued on September 27, 1969 in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood. The Zodiac Killer shot and killed Paul Stine, a cab driver, and then taunted the police by mailing them pieces of Stine’s shirt.
Zodiac sent four cryptograms to newspapers while he was active, and to date, only one has been solved. Although fingers have been pointed at multiple individuals over the decades, the police still have not identified the Zodiac Killer.
Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) proclaims that he’s back and wide awake in the official trailer for Showtime’s Billions season seven. The trailer for the final season of the award-winning series also shows Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) declaring he’s going to hold the rich and powerful and criminal accountable. Meanwhile, Mike Prince (Corey Stoll) is busy launching his run for president.
Also returning for the seventh and final season are Maggie Siff as Wendy Rhoades, David Costabile as Mike ‘Wags’ Wagner, Asia Kate Dillon as Taylor Mason, Dola Rashad as Kate Sacker, and Jeffrey DeMunn as Chuck Rhoades, Sr. Sakina Jaffrey is Daevisha ‘Dave’ Mahar, Daniel Breaker is Roger ‘Scooter’ Dunbar, and Toney Goins plays Philip Charyn.
Billions season seven premieres on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, August 11, 2023 and on Showtime on Sunday, August 13 at 8pm ET/PT. The final season consists of 12 new episodes.
Brian Koppelman and David Levien created the series and serve as executive producers and showrunners. (Andrew Ross Sorkin was a co-creator.) Showrunner Beth Schacter also executive produces along with April Taylor and Mike Harrop.
Koppelman and Levien are currently working with Showtime on expanding the universe of Billions with Billions: Miami, Billions: London, Millions, and Trillions (all working titles).

People who complain about waiting a year or two for new seasons of their favorite shows have nothing on fans of Futurama. The animated series is finally back after a decade-long break with season 11, premiering on July 24, 2024 on Hulu.
The streaming service just released the official two-minute season 11 trailer along with a colorful new poster for the upcoming season.
Voice cast members include John DiMaggio as Bender, Billy West as Philip J. Fry, Katey Sagal as Leela, and Tress MacNeille as Linda. Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman also lend their voices to the much-anticipated new season.
Futurama was created by Matt Groening (The Simpsons) and premiered on Fox back in March 1999. The animated sci-fi comedy ran on Fox through 2003, followed by reruns on the Cartoon Network, some straight-to-DVD stuff, and was eventually revived for a 2010-2013 run on Comedy Central. In 2022, Hulu announced they were bringing the show back from the dead.

Futurama premiered in 1999 and quickly gained a faithful following and critical acclaim, including two primetime Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program. Despite its far-future setting, the show is renowned for its satiric commentary on life in the present. The series follows Philip J. Fry (West), a New York City pizza delivery boy who accidentally freezes himself in 1999 and gets defrosted in the year 3000.

So, we’ve made it halfway through Freeform’s Cruel Summer season two with episode five which takes place on July 25th, 1999, December 25th, 1999, and July 25th, 2000.
Summer of 1999
Isabella (Lexi Underwood) writes to her mysterious best friend Lisa about how she’s getting along in Washington. She ends her note which reveals she’s going to a Christmas in July thing by saying, “You’d make fun of it with me if you were here. I wish you were.”
Isabella fishes for information on Megan and Jeff, wondering if they’re a couple. Megan (Sadie Stanley) has fun with him but doesn’t really see much there. Isabella informs her that Luke doesn’t like seeing Megan and Jeff together. Isabella asks if Megan and Luke have feelings for each other, and Megan insists that no, they don’t. They’re just friends.
Megan and Isabella walk into the house to discover Isabella has a surprise visitor. His name is Trevor and he’s Lisa’s older brother! Megan invites him to Christmas in July, but it seems Isabella doesn’t want him to go.
Isabella and Trevor get a moment alone, and he admits he’s been searching for her for months. He’s curious if she was ever going to call him. She doesn’t answer because Megan interrupts and introduces Trevor to Luke (Griffin Gluck). After introductions and some alpha male display from both Trevor and Luke over Isabella, they sit to eat. Trevor calls out Isabella because she was a vegetarian, but apparently, she isn’t anymore.
Trevor points out how Isabella has changed. First, she’s altered what she eats, and second, she’s shifted her taste in music. Isabella claims it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. He points out that hers just changes with the wind now.
Isabella makes a joke about spiking a drink, and Trevor seems shocked she would still drink “after what happened last winter.” (Ohhh, interesting!) When Megan asks what he’s talking about, Trevor’s in for another shock when he realizes they have no clue what happened. She got arrested for public intoxication and got kicked out of school.
Trevor wants to talk to Isabella in private and it turns out that’s not really what happened. But, of course, we (the audience) still don’t know the truth. Trevor says the police still have many questions, and she just up and left without any word. Isabella tells him she loves him and kisses him. And guess who sees them kissing…Megan.
Megan confronts Isabella about kissing Trevor, and Isabella lies and blames him. Isabella insists she and Trevor are done for good. Luke interrupts their conversation and invites Isabella to his cabin…but only her.
Luke loses his virginity to Isabella. Afterward, she leaves him to go hang out with Megan.
Megan’s on her computer when she receives an instant message from a man thanking her for extra mustard. It turns out he’s a computer hacker, too, and she asks him about hacking the FBI. Isabella interrupts her chat and Megan comes clean about liking Luke. But then Megan wants her to forget she even said that.
Isabella thinks Megan and Luke are soulmates and decides she and Luke shouldn’t be together.

Winter of 1999
It’s Christmas and Megan gives Isabella a photo album full of Polaroids of their time together. When it’s Megan’s turn to open her gift from Isabella, she’s surprised to see it’s a new computer screen. Isabella can tell Megan isn’t as pleased as she thought she would be, and Megan brings up that it’s too expensive. Before the conversation goes any further, Megan decides to go set it up.
Megan hacks the system at her high school and changes her C+ to an A. While doing so, Isabella comes into her room and Megan quickly turns off the monitor. They talk about Isabella gifting it to her and Megan admits she can’t compete with that; it’s so expensive.
Isabella spots a gift and asks if it’s for Luke. She wonders how the two of them are doing, but Megan only gives her short answers. Isabella asks if she wants to look at Christmas lights, but Megan says she has to work.
A short time later, Isabella sees Megan leave the house with Luke’s Christmas gift and decides to follow her.
Turns out the gift wasn’t for Luke after all; it was for the guy they call Captain Cray Crazy who lives near the Chambers’ cabin. (He’s the guy Megan gives extra mustard to at the restaurant.) He invites Megan in as Isabella watches from the trees.
Isabella invites Luke over when Megan’s out, and she gains his sympathy by claiming Megan’s been shutting her out and hiding things from her. She admits to sneaking out and following her. Luke seems shocked about where Megan went, and Isabella randomly points out that she thinks Megan is jealous of them.
Megan comes home to find them hanging out.
Debbie (KaDee Strickland) brings laundry to the camper trailer where Isabella’s been staying and finds unsent postcards to Isabella’s friend Lisa. Isabella walks in and when Debbie questions why she hasn’t sent them, Isabella has some excuse and then changes the subject to Megan and how she’s been pulling away.

Summer of 2000
The headline in the local papers is about Megan being a person of interest because she was pregnant. (That shocker was revealed at the end of episode four.) It turns out it was Isabella’s lawyer who gave that information to the newspaper. Her lawyer claims it was to strike back at the police for finding Isabella’s backpack full of money in the Chambers’ cabin.
Isabella insists that the backpack was put there, saying it was in the Airstream before they found Luke’s body. She claims that she’s being framed. “All the more reason for me to stay one step ahead of them. We both know you have a lot to hide,” her lawyer replies ominously.
Isabella apologizes to Megan for the article, and Megan wants to know how she found out. Isabella reveals she found the pregnancy test in the bathroom. Megan’s obviously not happy and replies, “Wow, I didn’t know ride or die meant digging through my trash.”
Isabella insists it was her lawyer who tipped off the newspaper. Megan calls BS, but Isabella reminds her she can hate her and blame her all she wants, but she and Megan are tied up in this together.
Isabella reminds Megan that the more they find out about Megan and Luke the night he died, the more they’ll find out about her. Isabella points out that she hasn’t given up on their friendship and Megan angrily responds that their friendship died a long time ago.
Megan wants her mom to ask Isabella to leave, insisting she doesn’t want Isabella at their house anymore. Her mom figures out it was Isabella who leaked the story to the newspaper, which means Megan really was pregnant. Debbie asks how Megan resolved the pregnancy and Megan doesn’t want to tell her.
Trevor and Isabella are kissing when Trevor stops and demands answers. Isabella plays the victim by saying he already made up his mind about her and tells him to leave.
Debbie has an uncomfortable chat with Isabella, suggesting she stay somewhere else. Isabella tells Debbie there’s something under her bed that Megan wanted to get rid of and tells her she should ask her why Megan needed it gone.
Isabella’s lawyer informs her that Sheriff Myer has been digging around. She believes that he’ll find out what happened in St. Barts soon. She feels she has successfully kept it under wraps for a year, but sooner or later, someone is going to talk.
Each episode of Cruel Summer ends on a cliffhanger and episode five is no different. Megan receives a letter from Trevor and inside the note is a newspaper clipping of a story on Lisa. It turns out she died in St. Barts by drowning!
AMC’s just unveiled the first real look at the upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The sneak peek video shows Daryl (Norman Reedus) off on a solitary journey in a strange land, with the two-minute clip devoid of any walkers or other humans.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is targeting a fall 2023 premiere on AMC and AMC+.
Joining Norman Reedus in the new addition to The Walking Dead Universe are Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Anne Charrier, Eriq Ebouaney, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi. David Zabel serves as showrunner and executive produces with Reedus, Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, and Daniel Percival.
In a recent interview with EW, Reedus described what Daryl’s been up to.
“His journey was a long one,” revealed Reedus. “Longer and even harder and weirder than you would think. He was so close to getting what he wanted and to where he wanted to be. And, of course, in Walking Dead rules, he had it ripped away. To Daryl, you might as well have dropped him on the moon. This world now, it’s bigger, it’s deeper, and just as heavy, if not heavier.”

Two-time Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett is finally getting her much-deserved Oscar. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be honoring Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, and editor Carol Littleton with the Academy’s Honorary Awards during the Governors Awards taking place in November 2023.
Sundance Institute’s Michelle Satter will be recognized with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
“The Academy’s Board of Governors is thrilled to honor four trailblazers who have transformed the film industry and inspired generations of filmmakers and movie fans,” stated Academy President Janet Yang. “Across her decades-long career, Angela Bassett has continued to deliver transcendent performances that set new standards in acting. Mel Brooks lights up our hearts with his humor, and his legacy has made a lasting impact on every facet of entertainment. Carol Littleton’s career in film editing serves as a model for those who come after her. Per the Academy: The Honorary Award Oscar statuette is given to honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.
Angela Bassett earned her first Oscar nomination for her outstanding performance as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. Bassett picked up her second nomination playing Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Bassett’s lengthy resume also includes Boyz N the Hood, Malcolm X, Waiting to Exhale, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Music of the Heart, Sunshine State, Black Panther, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Avengers: Endgame, and Soul.
Mel Brooks’ impressive career kicked off as a writer on Sid Caesar’s television shows. His first feature film, The Producers, was released in 1967 and earned him the Best Original Screenplay Oscar. His long list of credits includes Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World – Part I, Spaceballs, Life Stinks, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
Carol Littleton was nominated for an Oscar for her work editing E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Additional credits include Body Heat, The Big Chill, Places in the Heart, and The Manchurian Candidate.
Starz’s Outlander season seven episode two ended with the big house going up in flames. The teaser for episode three, “Death Be Not Proud,” shows the Frasers are alive and well (there was never any doubt, given the series is based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling books), but someone in their community has died.
The promo video also provides a brief look at Brianna and Roger in their own time and reveals that Jamie has had another dream of Claire in the 20th century.
Season seven episode three was directed by Jacquie Gould from a script by Tyler English-Beckwith. “Death Be Not Proud” will air on June 30, 2023.

NBA superstar Stephen Curry’s life and career are spotlighted in the Apple Original Films and A24 documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated.
