The Mosquito Coast season two starring Justin Theroux debuts on November 4th and Slow Horses with Gary Oldman returns for a second season on December 2nd. Season two of Little America arrives on December 9th, and Mythic Quest season three starring Wrexham Football Club co-owner Rob McElhenney premieres on November 11th.

THE MOSQUITO COAST Season 2 – November 4, 2022
Based on Paul Theroux’s best-selling novel, The Mosquito Coast follows the dangerous journey of Allie Fox, a brilliant inventor and stubborn idealist, who uproots his family on a dangerous quest to find refuge from the U.S. government, cartels, and hitmen. In season two, after barely escaping Mexico with their lives, the Foxes venture deep into the Guatemalan jungle to meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees.

This new refuge creates trouble for the Foxes though when they become entangled in a conflict between a local drug lord and his family. At odds about whether to settle down or keep moving, Allie and Margot pursue different paths to secure their family’s future. The outcome of which will either unite the family or tear it apart forever.

The Mosquito Coast season two will premiere with the first episode, followed by one new episode weekly through January 6, 2023.

MYTHIC QUEST Season 3 – November 11, 2022
Returning for its highly anticipated 10-episode third season this fall, Mythic Quest is the workplace comedy from creators Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz that follows a group of video game developers tasked with building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, but the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game — they happen in the office.

In season three, as Ian and Poppy navigate the gaming world and their partnership at the newly formed GrimPop Studios, Dana is forced to play mediator to her bosses’ incessant bickering. Back at Mythic Quest, David settles into his new role as the boss where he truly finds himself in charge for the first time with Jo returning as his assistant — more loyal and militant than ever; and Carol attempts to figure out where she fits in after a new promotion. At Berkeley, Rachel struggles to balance her morals with capitalism, while a post-prison Brad tries to return to society as a reformed man.

Mythic Quest season three will premiere with the first two episodes on Friday, November 11, followed by one new episode weekly through January 6, 2023.

SLOW HORSES Season 2 – December 2, 2022
Following its first season, Apple’s hit espionage series Slow Horses was renewed for a two-season order, with new seasons set to be adapted from the next two novels in the CWA Gold Dagger award-winning Mick Herron series Slough House.

Starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman, Slow Horses season two is directed by Jeremy Lovering and finds long-buried Cold War secrets emerge which threaten to bring carnage to the streets of London. When a liaison with Russian villains takes a fatal turn, our hapless heroes must overcome their individual failings and raise their spy game in a race to prevent a catastrophic incident.

Slow Horses is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping-ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.

The ensemble cast includes Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce.

Season two will premiere with two episodes followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through December 30.

LITTLE AMERICA Season 2 – December 9, 2022
Inspired by the true stories featured in Vox Media Studio’s Epic Magazine, Little America is a BAFTA, Independent Spirit, NAACP Image and GLAAD Media Award-nominated series that goes beyond the headlines to look at the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring and surprising stories of immigrants in America.

Hailing from executive producers Emmy nominee Lee Eisenberg, Academy Award winner Siân Heder, Academy Award nominees Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, Emmy Award winner Alan Yang, executive producers Natalie Sandy, and Arthur Spector, Joshuah Berman and Joshua Davis of Epic Magazine, the second season of the series will explore eight incredible stories inspired by real people from around the world, including a Belizian woman (Stacy Rose) who works for a Hasidic family in New York, a Korean man (Ki Hong Lee) who makes hats for the Black church community in 1980s Detroit, and the story of a 40-something Japanese woman in Columbus, Ohio (Shiori Ideta) whose dream is to assemble an all-women’s baseball league to fulfill her lifelong passion for the sport.

The complete second season will premiere with eight new installments on Friday, December 9.

‘Bones and All’ Trailer: Timothée Chalamet Has an Unusual Appetite

Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet reunites with his Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino for Bones and All, based on the novel by Camille DeAngelis. The film, which is coming off an impressive festival run, just unveiled a trippy trailer ahead of its November 23, 2022 theatrical run.

MGM also released a new poster featuring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell (Lost in Space). The cast also includes Michael Stuhlbarg, André Holland, Chloë Sevigny, David Gordon Green, Jessica Harper, Jake Horowitz, and Mark Rylance.

“There is something about the disenfranchised, there is something about people living at the margins of society that I am drawn toward and touched by. All my movies are about outcasts, and the characters in Bones and All resonated with me,” said director Guadagnino. “In that regard, it’s also interesting to me to tackle texture-wise the mid-West in the 80s. The idea of the traveler, the one who roams, the wanderer in this kind of modern setting felt very American to me and seemed to me to be a good place to start making movies in the USA.”

The Oscar-nominated filmmaker has wanted to work with Chalamet since directing him in the critically acclaimed Call Me By Your Name, describing the actor as someone who “has the rare capacity to think not just from the perspective of his own character but from the wider perspective of cinema.”

Guadagnino added: “He is a very curious, very open, very human actor but also, he taps into something very contemporary, which was vital for this film. As Lee, he brings that sense of our times. He reveals the insecurity of Lee but also a compassion that is absolutely heartbreaking.”

Guadagnino serves as a producer on the R-rated thriller along with Chalamet, Theresa Park, Marco Morabito, David Kajganich, Francesco Melzi d’Eril, Lorenzo Mieli, Gabriele Moratti, and Peter Spears. Giovanni Corrado, Raffaella Viscardi, Moreno Zani, Marco Colombo, and Jonathan Montepare executive produce.

The Plot:

Bones and All is a story of first love between Maren, a young woman learning how to survive on the margins of society, and Lee, an intense and disenfranchised drifter; a liberating road odyssey of two young people coming into their own, searching for identity and chasing beauty in a perilous world that cannot abide who they are.

‘Raymond & Ray’ Trailer: Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor Share a Name and a Parent

The trailer for Apple TV+’s Raymond & Ray opens with the revelation a father’s last wish was that his sons dig his grave, which is odd but also strangely moving. Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke star as half-brothers who weren’t exactly close to each other or their dad before he died, but the trailer teases their relationship will transform as they come to terms with their father’s death.

Maribel Verdú (Now and Then), Sophie Okonedo (Slow Horses), Tom Bower (El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie), and Vondie Curtis Hall (For the People) also star in writer/director Rodrigo Garcia’s new dramedy. Garcia earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for directing the pilot of Big Love. His feature film directorial credits include 2008’s Passengers with Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson; 2009’s Mother and Child starring Naomi Watts and Annette Bening; and three-time Oscar nominee Albert Nobbs with Glenn Close.

Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón, Bonnie Curtis, and Julie Lynn produced, with Shea Kammer and Gabriela Rodriguez executive producing.

Raymond & Ray premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and will stream on Apple TV+ on October 21, 2022.

The Plot:

Raymond & Ray follows half-brothers Raymond and Ray who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father. Somehow, they still each have a sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s folly, there might be love, and there’s definitely grave-digging.

‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Marks a New ‘Apes’ Chapter

The Apes rise again with a new chapter in the iconic Planet of the Apes franchise heading toward production. 20th Century Studios unveiled a photo teasing the new installment titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and confirmed filming will get underway in November 2022.

The Maze Runner helmer Wes Ball will direct and Owen Teague (It), Freya Allan (The Witcher), and Peter Macon (The Orville) will star. Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Patrick Aison (Prey) wrote the screenplay.

Joe Hartwick Jr., Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed are producing, with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping executive producing.

Fox didn’t reveal any plot details but did say the new chapter will pick up many years after the conclusion of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes.

Planet of the Apes is one of the most iconic and storied science fiction franchises in film history, as well as being an indelible part of our studio’s legacy. With Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes we are privileged to continue the series’ tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema, and can’t wait to share Wes’ extraordinary vision for this new chapter with audiences in 2024.” stated Steve Asbell, President 20th Century Studios.

The original Planet of the Apes film, based on Pierre Boulle’s novel, was released in 1968. Four sequels followed over the next five years, and in 2001 Tim Burton took the director’s chair for a remake of the original movie.

The sci-fi franchise was revived in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes directed by Rupert Wyatt and starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, and Andy Serkis. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was released in 2014 with Andy Serkis reprising his performance capture role as Caesar alongside Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman. 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, once again starring Serkis, featured Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn.

Season 11 of FX’s horror anthology series American Horror Story will kick off on October 19, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT with the release of the first two episodes. Two new episodes of the 10-episode AHS: NYC season will arrive each Wednesday.

The official premiere date announcement was accompanied by two posters from the upcoming installment. FX is keeping a lid on the plot, for now.

Back in February FX Chairman John Landgraf confirmed to The Wrap that season 11 returns the franchise to a single story after season 10’s double feature. “It actually takes place in different timelines but it’s one subject, one story, with a beginning, middle and an end, like many of the prior stories,” said Landgraf.

AHS: NYC stars Joe Mantello, Billie Lourd, Zachary Quinto, Russell Tovey, and Leslie Grossman. The ensemble also includes Charlie Carver, Sandra Bernhard, Isaac Powell, Denis O’Hare, and Patti LuPone.

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, AHS: NYC is executive produced Murphy, Falchuk, Alexis Martin Woodall, John J. Gray, Manny Coto, Jennifer Salt, and Our Lady J. The award-winning anthology series is produced by 20th Television.

American Horror Story, which has been renewed through season 13, is the network’s longest-running hour-long series in FX’s history. All 10 previous seasons of the Emmy-winning franchise are available on Hulu.

‘TAR’ Trailer: Cate Blanchett is Absolutely Mesmerizing

Focus Features’ fascinating new trailer for TÁR feels like an “For Your Consideration” reel promoting two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett for Best Actress. Blanchett’s sure to be busy this upcoming awards season; she’s already earned the Best Actress award at the 2022 Venice Film Festival for her performance as composer/conductor Lydia Tár.

Three-time Oscar nominee Todd Field (In the Bedroom, Little Children) wrote and directed the drama which currently sits at 97% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes following its festival run. RogerEbert.com’s Tomris Laffly calls it “a film of rare elegance and sophistication,” and Entertainment Weekly’s Leah Greenblatt describes Blanchett’s work as feeling “less like a performance than a full-body possession.”

The cast also includes Noémie Merlant, Nina Hoss, Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, and Mark Strong. Todd Field, Alexandra Milchan, and Scott Lambert served as producers.

TAR opens in select theaters on October 7, 2022 followed by a nationwide release on October 28th.

The Plot: From writer-producer-director Todd Field comes TÁR, starring Cate Blanchett as Lydia Tár, the groundbreaking conductor of a major German Orchestra. We meet Tár at the height of her career, as she’s preparing both a book launch and much-anticipated live performance of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. Over the ensuing weeks her life begins to unravel in a singularly modern way. The result is a searing examination of power and its impact and durability in today’s society.

The Plot, Courtesy of Starz:

Dangerous Liaisons is a bold prelude of Laclos’ classic 18th-century novel focusing on the origin story of how his iconic characters, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, met as passionate young lovers in Paris on the eve of the revolution. This modern take on a classic story takes audiences through wonder and terror, beauty and degradation, seduction and deception in pre-revolutionary Paris.

Driven to right the wrongs of their past, the young couple’s survival depends on their skills of seduction and manipulation of not only the French nobility but of each other. Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton portray the notorious lovers: Camille who is taken in by the current Marquise de Merteuil (played by Lesley Manville) navigates her own path in a world of men, using the power of secrets to take back control, and Valmont who will stop at nothing to regain his title that was recently taken from him. Their on-again-off-again love story is the heart of the series. It’s not love… it’s war.
