The final season of HBO’s Succession earned the most 75th Emmy Awards nominations with 27, including best drama, best actor in a drama (Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin), best actress (Sarah Snook), best supporting actor (Nicholas Braun, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, Alexander Skarsgard), and best supporting actress (J. Smith-Cameron). HBO’s critically acclaimed video game adaptation The Last of Us picked up 24 nominations, followed by the network’s The White Lotus with 23, and Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso with 21.

This year marks the highest voter participation in Emmy Awards history, according to the Television Academy.

“We are thrilled with the historic level of participation from our voting members this Emmy season,” said Frank Scherma. “As we approach the remarkable milestone of the Emmy’s 75th anniversary, the Academy is more appreciative than ever of another year of extraordinary content. We are honored to recognize those who have elevated the world’s favorite global medium.”

The Academy also shared that this year’s nominees include 38 first-timers, including The Last of Us‘s Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega, The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White, and Daisy Jones & The Six‘s Riley Keough. Pascal’s making his debut on the nominee list with three nominations for his work on The Last of Us, Saturday Night Live, and Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World.

Additional actors with multiple nominations include Murray Bartlett (The Last Of Us and Welcome To Chippendales), Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Family Guy), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary and Saturday Night Live), Bill Hader (performance, directing and writing for Barry), Sharon Horgan (performance and writing for Bad Sisters), Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets and The Last of Us), Jason Sudeikis (performance and writing for Ted Lasso), and Ali Wong (BEEF and Tuca & Bertie).

The nominees were selected from shows that aired between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023. Winners of the 2023 Emmys are scheduled to be announced live on FOX on Monday, September 18, (8:00-11:00pm ET/5:00-8:00pm PT) from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE. That, of course, may change if the writers or actors are on strike.
