The CW’s Supergirl season three episode four brings in guest star Chad Lowe as a mysterious stranger. But first, a look back at the heartbreaking episode three. It was bridal shower time and we learned Maggie’s parents cast her out when they discovered she’s gay. That betrayal still hurts, but Maggie reached out to her father anyway and invited him to her bridal shower. If you guessed that his appearance at the shower wouldn’t end well, you were right. By the time Maggie and her dad said their goodbyes, it was obvious the chasm was too deep to bridge.
Meanwhile, Kara volunteered to accompany J’onn to Mars after he received a distress call from M’gann. J’onn’s father, M’yrnn (Carl Lumbly), had been found alive after being presumed dead for 20 years. After a bit, J’onn was finally able to convince his father who he is, and he was able to – with a lot of help from Kyra – get the staff of the Martian god, H’ronmeer, back from the White Martians and bring it to Earth where it will be kept safe. M’yrnn also made the trek to Earth so that the happy family reunion can continue.
