Netflix has renewed the action thriller Frontier for a third season. The network made the announcement on December 14, 2017, less than a month after the release of the six episode second season. According to the official announcement, season three of Frontier will premiere in 2018 and will also consist of six episodes.

The dramatic thriller’s cast is led by Jason Momoa who’s been keeping busy playing Aquaman in the stand-alone comic book-inspired film, as well as in the 2017 superhero film, Justice League. The series also stars Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), Alun Armstrong (New Tricks, Braveheart), Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey, Sons of Anarchy), Jessica Matten (A Red Girl’s Reasoning), Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle) and Katie McGrath (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword).

Rob Blackie and Peter Blackie co-created the series, which is produced by Take The Shot Productions and ASAP Entertainment. Edwina Follows, Alex Patrick, John Vatcher, Rob Blackie, Peter Blackie, Allan Hawco, Perry Chafe, Michael Levine, Brad Peyton, and Jeff Fierson are the executive producers.

The Plot: The series is an action-packed adventure drama following the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century. Told from multiple perspectives, the series takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.

A Look Back at Season 2: In this epic second season, the frontier expands with spectacular new views of the northern wilderness, and new players entering the ruthless game in the quest for power and wealth – pushing everyone to either embrace unknown alliances or arm themselves against them. Fort James is left in chaos after Michael Smyth (Landon Liboiron), Sokanon (Jessica Matten), and Grace Emberly (Zoe Boyle) detonated a munitions magazine, leaving Declan Harp (Jason Momoa) to slip through the hangman’s noose. With Harp gone, the Black Wolf Company is fractured and no one knows if Harp survived or not… but Lord Benton (Alun Armstrong) is not taking any chances; he offers a dead-or-alive bounty for Harp, unleashing a dangerous threat to Harp and his allies. Meanwhile in the burgeoning city of Montréal, the power dynamic of the trade is in flux, as serious battle lines are drawn between Elizabeth Carruthers (Katie McGrath) and Samuel Grant (Shawn Doyle).
