Batwoman
Ruby Rose as Kate Kane/Batwoman (Photo: JSquared Photography © 2019 The CW Network)

Details on the New Fall Shows:

Batwoman: Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety.

After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm, by kidnapping his best Crow officer Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). Although remarried to wealthy socialite Catherine Hamilton-Kane (Elizabeth Anweis), who bankrolls the Crows, Jacob is still struggling with the family he lost, while keeping Kate –– the daughter he still has –– at a distance. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes –– a dark knight vigilante.

With the help of her compassionate stepsister, Mary (Nicole Kang), and the crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), the son of Wayne Enterprises’ tech guru Lucius Fox, Kate Kane continues the legacy of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne, as Batwoman. Still holding a flame for her ex-girlfriend, Sophie, Kate uses everything in her power to combat the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten), who’s always somewhere slipping between sane and insane. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate soars through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman.

But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, she must first overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

Nancy Drew: Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenaged detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans. Devastated by her mother’s passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can re-apply to college. But when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene: Nancy’s nemesis from high school, George Fan (Leah Lewis); a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani); Nancy’s secret boyfriend, Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim), and amiable burnout Ace (Alex Saxon).

The five of them must team up to clear their own names – encountering emotional entanglements and even more mysteries along the way. Nancy’s reawakening brings her into conflict with her widowed father, Carson Drew (Scott Wolf), who is dating Detective Karen Hart (Alvina August). And, when a supernatural presence begins to haunt Nancy’s investigation, she discovers that the current crime has an astonishing connection to the unsolved murder of a local girl. Whether the ghost is here to help, or hinder Nancy remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: Nancy’s going to have to unravel the clues from both the living and the dead to solve the crimes.

‘The Boys’ New Restricted Trailer Spotlights Superheroes with Bad Attitudes

Amazon Original’s The Boys just released a two minute completely bonkers, not safe for work or kids or anyone who can’t tolerate R-rated language trailer. The crazy new trailer confirms Amazon did not put any restraints on series creator Eric Kripke (Supernatural) as he was bringing Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s best-selling comic to the small screen.

The cast of the adult dark comedy sci-fi action thriller includes Karl Urban (Star Trek) as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games) as Hughie, Laz Alonso (Detroit) as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Capon (Hostages) as Frenchie, and Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad) as The Female. Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) plays Hughie’s father in a guest starring role, and Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas) stars as Madelyn Stillwell.

The above mentioned cast (minus Simon Pegg and Elisabeth Shue) take on The Seven in season one of The Boys. The Seven’s made up of Homelander (Antony Starr, Banshee), Starlight (Erin Moriarty, Captain Fantastic), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott, House of Cards), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher, Independence Day: Resurgence), The Deep (Chace Crawford, Gossip Girl) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell, Supernatural).

Eric Kripke is showrunner, writer, executive producer, and directed the season finale. Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen (Preacher), Evan Goldberg (Preacher), and James Weaver (Preacher), Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break), Pavun Shetty (New Girl) and Ori Marmur (Preacher) also executive produce. Ennis and Robertson are involved as co-executive producers. 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s Dan Trachtenberg directed the first episode.

Amazon Original will release the eight episode first season on July 26, 2019 on Amazon Prime Video.

The Plot:

The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.

Pose made history by assembling the largest cast of transgender actors (Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross) in series regular roles. It also features the biggest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors of any scripted series.

The Plot:

Pose is a drama spotlighting the legends, icons and ferocious house mothers of New York’s underground ball culture, a movement that first gained notice in the late 1980s.

Season 2 flashes forward in time to 1990. On the heels of the ballroom community establishing itself in pop culture and going mainstream, the House of Evangelista is forced to reevaluate their goals. Meanwhile, the AIDS crisis worsens and the reaction from a group of activists reaches a fever pitch.

Mj Rodriguez stars as “Blanca Rodriguez,” who breaks from the House of Abundance and her former house mother “Elektra” (Dominique Jackson) to form her own “house,” a self-selected family that provides support to LGBTQ youth rejected by their birth families. Indya Moore plays “Angel,” a streetwalker with modeling aspirations. Ryan Jamaal Swain plays “Damon Richards,” a dancer who joins Blanca’s house. Together they compete in the Balls—where house members challenge each other in various categories and are judged on their outfits, attitude, or dance skills—under the watchful eye of Billy Porter as “Pray Tell,” Grandfather to all the children who compete in the house balls.

Episode 2 airing on June 18th and titled “Worth It” was directed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton from a script by Janet Mock. Per FX: “Determined to be an example to her children, Blanca launches a business venture with unexpected results. Meanwhile, Ricky’s travels have unpredicted consequences for his relationship with Damon, and Elektra shocks the ballroom community with a bold move.”

In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Gilpin) a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.

Season 3 follows the ladies of GLOW as they take the Vegas strip by storm. Now headliners at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, the women quickly realize Sin City is much more grind than glitter. Ever the team cheerleader, Ruth’s passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her growingly complicated personal life. Debbie is making headway as a producer, but continues to be consumed with guilt over the distance between her and her son. As their residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality, and the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities both in and outside of the ring.”
