‘Silicon Valley’ Shows Off a Season 5 Teaser Trailer Along with a Premiere Date

HBO’s confirmed Silicon Valley will return to the Sunday primetime lineup beginning on March 25, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT. The fifth season of the half-hour comedy will be the first without T.J. Miller as Erlich Bachman, and the upcoming season’s new teaser trailer provides a glimpse at what an Erlich-less season will look like.

Silicon Valley was created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler, and Dave Krinsky. Judge, Alec Berg, Clay Tarver, Michael Rotenberg, Tom Lassally, Jamie Babbit, and Jim Kleverweis serve as executive producers.

Season five will star Thomas Middleditch (The Morning After) as Richard Hendricks, Zach Woods (The Office) as Donald ‘Jared’ Dunn, Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) as Dinesh Chugtai, Martin Starr (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Bertram Gilfoyle, Josh Brener (Welcome to Happiness) as Nelson ‘Big Head’ Bighetti, Amanda Crew (The Age of Adaline) as Monica Hall, Matt Ross (American Horror Story) as Gavin Belson, Suzanne Cryer (The Fosters) as Laurie Bream, and Jimmy O. Yang (El Camino Christmas) as Jian Yang.

The popular comedy has earned 33 Emmy nominations over its four seasons, winning two: Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour or Less) and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series in 2015. The series has also picked up multiple Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice (winning two), Directors Guild, Producers Guild, and Writers Guild nominations. In addition, the American Film Institute included Silicon Valley on its list of the best TV shows in 2014.

The Plot: The show takes a comic look at the modern-day epicenter of the high-tech gold rush, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success.

A Look Back at Season 4’s Plot: Change is in the air as the Pied Piper guys pursue their video-chat app, PiperChat, but Richard has a hard time letting go of his dream to put his algorithm to better use. Dinesh flirts with notoriety, while Gilfoyle looks on in amusement. Erlich searches for his next big break. Jared attempts to pivot with the company. And Big Head enters the world of academia.

Meanwhile, over at Hooli, Gavin finds himself threatened by Jack Barker, while Monica struggles to bounce back at Raviga after her fallout with Laurie. Sharp and irreverent, Silicon Valley continues to lambast the self-important world of tech in a season that finds the Pied Piper team looking to leave their mark, even as they continue to fumble along the road to success.

‘Flower’ Releases a New Official Trailer and Poster

A new official trailer for the dark comedy Flower has sprouted online along with a brand new film poster for the 2018 theatrical release. Max Winkler (Ceremony, New Girl) wrote and directed the comedy, with Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West) co-writing. Winkler and Spicer reimagined the story from an unproduced script by Alex McAulay.

The cast is led by Zoey Deutch (Before I Fall, Why Him?) and includes Kathryn Hahn (A Bad Moms Christmas, I Love Dick), Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories), Joey Morgan (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf, To the Bone), Dylan Gelula (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Jennifer Falls) and Adam Scott (Ghosted, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later). Shaul Dina, Dustin Duke Dlouhy, Justin Farajzadeh, David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Andrew Levitas, Danny McBride, Cyrus Zahabian, and Ilana Zahabian served as executive producers.

Flower premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and was nominated for a Jury Award for Best U.S. Narrative Feature. The Orchard’s set a March 16, 2018 theatrical release date for the R-rated comedy.

The Plot: Rebellious, quick-witted Erica Vandross (Zoey Deutch) is a 17-year-old firecracker living with her single mom Laurie (Kathryn Hahn) and mom’s new boyfriend Bob (Tim Heidecker) in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley. When Bob’s mentally unbalanced son Luke (Joey Morgan) arrives from rehab to live with the family, Erica finds her domestic and personal life overwhelmed. With Luke and her sidekicks Kala (Dylan Gelula) and Claudine (Maya Eshet) in tow, Erica acts out by exposing a dark secret of high-school teacher Will (Adam Scott), with perilous results; their teenage kicks become a catalyst for growing up in unexpected and unpredictable ways.

‘Ellen’s Game of Games’ Earns a Second Season from NBC

Ellen's Game of Games Renewed

Ellen DeGeneres’ Ellen’s Game of Games just debuted in its regular time slot on January 2, 2018 and NBC’s apparently so happy with the show’s early ratings that it’s given the series a renewal order for a second season. The January 2nd episode was watched by 9.8 million viewers, according to NBC, with the show’s second episode which aired the following hour increasing the number of viewers to 9.9 million. Those numbers were high enough to earn the series the #1 and #2 spots for the night among audiences 18-49 years old.

NBC says season two of Ellen’s Game of Games will consist of 13 new episodes.

“I’m so excited to get to do another season because I’m not just the producer and host, I’m also a loyal viewer,” said Ellen DeGeneres. “I hope this can continue to be a show that families can come together and enjoy watching as much as I enjoy hosting. I don’t wanna say this next season is gonna be even messier, but I have invested heavily into a whipped cream company.”

“Ellen’s enthusiasm and energy is utterly infectious. It’s been exciting to watch her antics supersized on a primetime stage,” stated Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. “Audiences love spending time with her and we know she’ll continue to raise the bar with even bigger games and more hilarity as the show continues to grow.”

“Ellen is a comic genius and no one relates to their fans the way she does,” added Mike Darnell, President, Warner Bros. Unscripted and Alternative Television. “With Ellen’s Game of Games she has yet another out-of-the-box hit and we are absolutely thrilled to start shooting our second season.”

The Plot: Multi-award winning television host, producer, writer, actress and entertainment powerhouse Ellen DeGeneres serves as host and executive producer of the hourlong comedy game show, which includes supersized versions of the most popular and action-packed games from her award-winning daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Contestants, who are pulled right from the audience, maneuver massive obstacles, answer questions under crushing time pressure and face gigantic plunges into the unknown – all in a quest to win a big cash prize.

Every episode features DeGeneres’ one-of-a-kind comedy and irrepressible personality, along with a unique roster of games, such as “Blindfolded Musical Chairs,” “Dizzy Dash” and “Scary Go Round.” The thrill of the pressure cooker situations and the instant wins keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.

‘Krypton’ Reveals a New Trailer Starring Cameron Cuffe

Syfy’s finally released a full trailer for the DC Comics-inspired series, Krypton, from David S. Goyer (screenwriter of Man of Steel and The Dark Knight). Goyer serves as an executive producer on the sci-fi action series which is set to premiere on March 21, 2018.

Sleepy Hollow‘s Damian Kindler executive produces and is the season one showrunner. The cast of the much anticipated Superman prequel includes Cameron Cuffe, Shaun Sipos, Blake Ritson, Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Aaron Pierre, and Ian McElhinney.

Discussing his character during interviews at the San Diego Comic Con, Cameron Cuffe explained, “My character, Seyg-El, is the eventual grandfather of Superman. He is the scion of the once great House of El that was once at the very top of Kryptonian society. Through no fault of his own, it has been stripped of its rank and sent to the very bottom. Essentially, he’s left for dead. So when we meet him, he’s been growing up in a very, very harsh environment where he has to struggle to survive. And so the elements of this legacy that’s out there and this sense of whatever it was that his family stood for, he’s sort of very isolated from, he’s very separate from. What’s real for him, and the stakes for him, is just making sure he gets through another day. That’s where we meet him at the beginning of our story.”

The Plot: What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg finds himself in a difficult position. He must redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves while being challenged by familiar DC characters Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).

The second half of season one of The Tick is set to premiere on Friday, February 23, 2018 on Amazon Prime Video. In support of the show’s return next month, Amazon’s released a brand new trailer along with two posters including one featuring the ruthless supervillain, The Terror, played by Jackie Earle Haley.

The series was created by Ben Edlund and stars Peter Serafinowicz (The Tick), Griffin Newman (Arthur Everest), Valorie Curry (Dot Everest), Brendan Hines (Superian), Yara Martinez (Ms. Lint), and Scott Speiser (Overkill). Additional season one actors include Townsend Coleman (voicing Midnight), John Pirkis (Dr. Karamazov), Ryan Woodie (VLM), Devin Ratray (Tinfoil Kevin), and Alan Tudyk (voicing Dangerboat).

Amazon confirmed part two of the comedy’s first season will consist of six new episodes. The first half of season one currently sits at 93% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with Boston Globe’s Matthew Gilbert complimenting the show’s star, saying, “Like the trademark antennae that dance on the Tick’s head, Serafinowicz has his character’s oddball rhythms down pat.”

The Plot: In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an accountant with mental health issues and zero powers comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero. Together, they launch into an adventure brimming with crazed archvillains, blood-soaked vigilantes, mad science, and superhuman freakery.

The Part 2 Plot: Evil is on the march, and The City is right in its way. Something terrible is going to happen, and Destiny needs her champions now more than ever. The Tick and Arthur round up the gang in a crash collision course between justice and villainy.

First Look: ‘Trust’ Season 1 Debuts an Official Trailer

Pink Floyd’s “Money” helps set the tone for the trailer to FX’s upcoming dramatic series, Trust. As with the feature film All the Money in the World, Trust deals with John Paul Getty III’s kidnapping and his billionaire grandfather’s refusal to pay the ransom. However, the trailer for Trust seems to focus much more on John Paul Getty III prior to his kidnapping, fleshing out the character more than the movie did over its two-hour running time.

Trust was created by Simon Beaufoy, with Beaufoy, Danny Boyle, and Christian Colson executive producing. Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) also directed the first three episodes.

FX has set a Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT premiere.

The Plot: Inspired by actual events, Trust delves into the trials and triumphs of one of America’s wealthiest and unhappiest families, the Gettys. Equal parts family history, dynastic saga and an examination of the corrosive power of money, Trust explores the complexities at the heart of every family, rich or poor.

Told over multiple seasons and spanning the twentieth century, the series begins in 1973 with the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III (Harris Dickinson), an heir to the Getty oil fortune, by the Italian mafia in Rome. His captors banked on a multi-million-dollar ransom. After all, what rich family wouldn’t pay for the return of a loved one? Paul’s grandfather, J. Paul Getty Sr. (Donald Sutherland), an enigmatic oil tycoon and possibly the richest man in the world, is marooned in a Tudor mansion in the English countryside surrounded by a harem of mistresses and a pet lion. He’s busy.

Paul’s father, J. Paul Getty Jr. (Michael Esper), is lost in a daze in London and refuses to answer the phone. Only Paul’s mother, Gail Getty (Hilary Swank), is left to negotiate with the increasingly desperate kidnappers. Unfortunately, she’s broke.

Trust charts the teenage grandson’s nightmare ordeal at the hands of kidnappers who cannot understand why nobody seems to want their captive back. The cast also includes Brendan Fraser, Anna Chancellor, Norbert Leo Butz, Charlotte Riley, and Luca Marinelli.
