‘Spiderwick Chronicles’ Series Trailer Shows Off Fairies, Unicorns, and an Ogre

The official trailer for Roku’s The Spiderwick Chronicles shows off much more of the series’ fantasy world and of Christian Slater as an ogre who would prefer a world without humans. The two-minute trailer also introduces the Grace family and how moving into the Spiderwick Estate opens up their eyes to the existence of mythical creatures.

In addition to Christian Slater as Mulgarath, season one stars Joy Bryant as Helen Grace, Noah Cottrell as Simon Grace, Lyon Daniels as Jared Grace, and Mychala Lee as Mallory Grace. Jack Dylan Grazer provides the voice of Thimbletack.

“The Grace family moves from Brooklyn, New York, to their ancestral home in Henson, Michigan, the Spiderwick Estate. Helen makes the move with her 15-year-old fraternal twin boys, Jared and Simon, and her older daughter, Mallory,” reads Roku’s synopsis. “Shortly after moving to the Spiderwick Estate Jared discovers a boggart and realizes that magical creatures are real! The only one to believe him is his great-aunt Lucinda who implores Jared to find the pages of her father’s field guide to magical creatures and protect them from the murderous Ogre, Mulgarath.”

The series is based on Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black’s bestselling book series, with DiTerlizzi and Black involved as executive producers. Additional executive producers include showrunner Aron Eli Coleite, director Kat Coiro, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Grace Gilroy.

The Equalizer Description, Courtesy of CBS:

The Equalizer is a reimagining of the classic series starring Academy Award nominee and multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn. McCall presents to most as an average single mom who is quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a trusted few, she is The Equalizer – an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who’s also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption.

Robyn’s clandestine work and her personal life collide when her smart and observant daughter, Delilah, and her aunt Vi, who lives with Robyn to help her balance life as a working mother, discover her secret career as a vigilante. While Robyn contends with uncertainty at home, she is joined in her pursuit of justice by Melody “Mel” Bayani, an edgy bar owner and sniper from Robyn’s past; and Harry Keshegian, a paranoid and brilliant white-hat hacker.

As Robyn aids the oppressed and exploited, she sometimes works with Marcus Dante, an NYPD detective who once sought to uncover her identity, but now respects the need for Robyn’s type of justice even as he often questions her methods.

Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen will be serving up two additional seasons, with Fox renewing the popular culinary competition series for seasons 23 and 24. The series debuted back in 2005, and the most recent season earned the top fall 2023 spot among cooking shows. Season 22’s first episode also set a new record for the series’ most streamed premiere.

“As my very first show on FOX, Hell’s Kitchen holds a very special place in my heart and it’s incredibly gratifying to have it renewed for its 23rd and 24th seasons,” said Ramsay. “This show just keeps getting better and better, and with FOX, ITV, and A. Smith & Co. as my partners, you can expect even bigger challenges, stronger talent and more intense competition in Hell’s Kitchen in the years to come.”

The upcoming just-announced seasons will be shot at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

“Ever since Gordon Ramsay and Hell’s Kitchen premiered on FOX nearly two decades ago, they have been mainstays of American television,” said Allison Wallach, President, Unscripted Programming, of FOX Entertainment. “Hell’s Kitchen was our first series with Gordon, marking the launch of one of FOX’s most successful creative partnerships ever and an important cornerstone in what has become global television’s most powerful cooking brand.”

The popular culinary series is executive produced by Ramsay, Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Kenny Rosen, and Bernie Schaeffer. ITV America’s ITV Entertainment produces the series in association with A. Smith & Co. Productions.

“In the iconic decades-spanning series – and television’s longest-running food competition, reaching more than 350 episodes with today’s renewal – aspiring chefs from across the restaurant industry are put through an intense culinary academy to prove to Chef Ramsay they have the talent and tenacity to come out on top each week,” reads Fox’s synopsis. “Only those who can take the searing heat of Hell’s Kitchen will continue to compete each week until one prevails as the winner. At stake is a life-changing grand prize, including claiming a chef position at one of Ramsay’s own renowned restaurants across the country, and the title of Hell’s Kitchen winner.”

Noah Wyle to Star in Max’s ‘The Pitt’ Medical Drama

Max The Pitt Series

Five-time Emmy nominee Noah Wyle, no stranger to the world of medical dramas after 200+ episodes of ER, is confirmed to star and executive produce The Pitt. Max has given the medical drama a straight-to-series order, with season one expected to consist of 15 episodes.

Max’s announcement describes the series as a “realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.”

The series is an ER reunion of sorts, with Emmy nominee R. Scott Gemmill (ER, NCIS: Los Angeles) writing, executive producing, and guiding the series as showrunner. Additional executive producers include Emmy winner John Wells (ER, The West Wing), Erin Jontow, Simran Baidwan, and Michael Hissrich.

“We are grateful to Warner Bros. Television and Max for giving us this opportunity to return to the world of urban medicine. The myriad of challenges facing the doctors, nurses, technicians, patients, and their families who work in the trenches of modern medicine have become only more pronounced in the decade and a half since we last visited their stories. We’re thrilled to be able to return to this world with the support of our partners and are looking forward to pushing the boundaries of dramatic realism and medical accuracy in following the lives of these heroic men and women,” stated Gemmill, Wyle, and Wells.

The series will be produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

“It’s no secret Scott, Noah, and John know how to make great television. When they came to us with the idea of reinvigorating the medical TV genre with a fresh, realistic look at today’s modern hospitals, we knew we had to jump on it,” said Channing Dungey, Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman and CEO. “Their all-star collaboration, along with their impeccable storytelling and unwavering passion they bring to every project, is the perfect prescription for this show to become the next great medical drama. We are thankful to our partners at Max, and we can’t wait for audiences to see this show.”

Commenting on the straight-to-series order, Head of Max Original Programming Sarah Aubrey said, “Collaborating with the visionary talents of John Wells, R. Scott Gemmill, and Noah Wyle to develop this new series has already been an exhilarating process. Their passion, creativity, and dedication to storytelling elevate every aspect of the project, and together, we’re poised to deliver a compelling and authentic portrayal of today’s medical world that will captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact.”

‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21: Jenn Tran Makes ‘Bachelor’ History

Jenn Tran will be looking for love as the star of The Bachelorette season 21. The 26-year-old Tran appeared on Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor, and she’ll be making Bachelor franchise history with the upcoming season of The Bachelorette as the first-ever Asian American bachelorette.

“Growing up, I’ve always wanted to see Asian representation on TV,” said Tran, speaking to host Jesse Palmer and former The Bachelorette star Charity Lawson during the After the Final Rose segment of The Bachelor season 28. “I feel like it was really sparse. Anytime Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role, to fulfill some sort of stereotype. And I always felt boxed in by that because I was like, ‘I don’t see myself on screen. I don’t see myself as a main character.’ And now, to be here today sitting in this position, being like, ‘I am going to led my own love story. I am going to be the main character in my story,’ like I just can’t help but think of how many people I’m inspiring.”

Tran’s season of The Bachelorette will air this season.

“Tran is a sweet and compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping others and is currently studying to become a physician assistant,” reads ABC’s brief bio. “The bilingual Vietnamese beauty currently resides in Miami and is ready to find love with a man who’s as reliable and thoughtful as she is. When she’s not studying, Tran loves reading, paddleboarding, and traveling whenever she has the chance.”

Bennett Graebner, Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, Tim Warner, and Peter Gust serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Next Entertainment and Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon.
