Apple TV+ has confirmed Lessons in Chemistry starring and executive produced by Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room) will premiere on October 13, 2023. Based on Bonnie Garmus’ bestselling debut novel, the limited series will kick off with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes follow on subsequent Fridays.
Larson stars as a scientist who’s forced out of the lab and into becoming a cooking show host. The cast also includes Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick) as Calvin, Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder) as Harriet Sloane, Stephanie Koenig (The Flight Attendant) Fran Frask, Kevin Sussman (The Big Bang Theory) as Walter, Patrick Walker (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey) as Wakely, and Thomas Mann (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty) as Boryweitz. Alice Halsey, Derek Cecil, and Mark Evan Jackson are also featured in the adapation of Garmus’ novel.
Lee Eisenberg, a six-time Emmy nominee for The Office and Hello Ladies: The Movie, guides the limited series as showrunner. Eisenberg, Larson, Oscar nominee Susannah Grant (Best Original Screenplay, Erin Brockovich), Louise Shore, Piece of Work Entertainment’s Natalie Sandy, and Aggregate Films’ Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan serve as executive producers.

Lessons in Chemistry is set in the early 1950s and follows Elizabeth Zott (played by Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes.

The Justified sequel Justified: City Primeval‘s new trailer finds Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) reluctantly working on a case in Detroit. Raylan would rather be on the road with his daughter and heading back home, but instead, he’s pulled into the hunt for a psycho killer.
Joining three-time Emmy nominee Timothy Olyphant for the limited series are Aunjanue Ellis as Carolyn Wilder, Boyd Holbrook as Clement Mansell, Adelaide Clemens as Sandy Stanton, Vondie Curtis Hall as Marcus “Sweety” Sweeton, and Marin Ireland as Maureen Downey. Norbert Leo Butz is Norbert Beryl and Victor Williams plays Wendell Robinson.
Timothy Olyphant’s daughter Vivian makes her onscreen debut as Raylan’s daughter, Willa.
The sequel reunites the Justified team, with Dave Andron and Michael Dinner serving as showrunners. Andron, Dinner, Olyphant, Graham Yost, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Taylor Elmore, Chris Provenzano, V.J. Boyd, and Elmore Leonard Estate’s Peter Leonard executive produce.
Justified premiered in March 2010 and wrapped up its six-season run in April 2015. During its run, Justified won two Emmy Awards, two Critics Choice Awards, a Peabody, and was named TV program of the year by the AFI Awards in 2012.

Having left the hollers of Kentucky 15 years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind.
A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell’s lawyer, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught in between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well.
These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.
The TMNTs discuss what their lives would be like if they weren’t shunned by the world and considered monsters in the new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. So, how do they plan on changing the way they’re viewed by society? By taking down the notorious Superfly.
Micah Abbey voices Donatello, Nicolas Cantu is Leonardo, Brady Noon is Raphael, and Shamon Brown Jr. is Michelangelo. Netflix’s critically acclaimed anthology series Black Mirror has set a June 15, 2023 return date. The streaming service unveiled an official trailer for the upcoming sixth season and teased that the new season will be the series’ “most unpredictable, unclassifiable, and unexpected yet.”
Among the actors appearing in the five new episodes are Aaron Paul, Anjana Vasan, Annie Murphy, Auden Thornton, Ben Barnes, Clara Rugaard, Daniel Portman, Danny Ramirez, Himesh Patel, John Hannah, and Josh Hartnett. Plus, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Monica Dolan, Myha’la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, Samuel Blenkin, and Zazie Beetz star in the upcoming season.

Northern England, 1979. A meek sales assistant is told she must commit terrible acts to prevent disaster.
The titular creature is grotesque and frightening, and the jump scares are plentiful in 20th Century Studios’ The Boogeyman. Based on a Stephen King short story, The Boogeyman stirs up unsettling memories of nights spent wondering if that shadow on the wall is about to spring to life. Is that creaking noise just the house settling, or is something ever so slowly creeping toward the bed in the cover of darkness?
Parents always deny the existence of closet monsters and claim that there’s nothing scary under the bed unless you consider dust bunnies sinister. However, the sisters in The Boogeyman are faced with a different reality – that bump in the night is a real threat that enjoys toying with its prey before finally killing them.
A quick flashback finds a baby screaming in fear and blood caked on the photo of a smiling family. What happened isn’t revealed on camera and is left entirely to the audience’s imagination.
Current events find 16-year-old Sadie Harper (Sophie Thatcher, Yellowjackets) and her little sister, Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair, Obi-Wan Kenobi), struggling to cope with their mother’s recent death. Their dad, Will (Chris Messina, Air), is a therapist who should be able to help them deal with their grief. Instead, he fails to acknowledge the extent to which they’ve been affected by the loss and that they need more time – and much more support – to heal from the devastation of their mom’s death.
As if the Harper family doesn’t have enough to deal with, a disturbing visit from a peculiar man named Lester Billings (David Dastmalchian, Boston Strangler) – connected to the flashback’s screaming baby – seeks Will’s help. When Will doesn’t believe Lester’s incredible story, he commits suicide in the Harpers’ home.
This gruesome event adds to the trauma the family’s experiencing, a trauma that’s further compounded by Sawyer’s night terrors. In bed, Sawyer clings onto a lighted orb as if it were a life preserver in a sea of terrifying shadows. She’s sure something is watching her from her closet and then scurrying under her bed just beyond her line of sight.
Lester left behind a supernatural creature that feeds on suffering, and the Harper family – and Sawyer, in particular – are the perfect feeding ground for this malevolent being to feast. Sawyer is the first to understand that the boogeyman is real and stalking her family. Although her father refuses to consider the existence of the supernatural, Sawyer’s able to convince her sister that there’s an evil creature slinking around in the shadows of their home.
Together, the siblings make an unexpectedly formidable team in a life-or-death fight against a soul-sucking creature who thrives on misery.
Sophie Thatcher and Vivien Lyra Blair do a terrific job of playing siblings dealing with a life-altering tragedy and then suddenly being forced into a battle against a supernatural being. The appearance of the boogeyman bonds the siblings and teaches them that they need to lean on each other to survive both their grief and the evil entity attached to their family.
Director Rob Savage (Host) and screenwriters Mark Heyman (Black Swan) and A Quiet Place‘s Scott Beck and Bryan Woods tease the creature without giving away their hand too early. Although it creeps around in the shadows, the effective use of ambient lighting reveals the briefest of glimpses of the hideous title character’s features as it scurries about the Harper home. The supernatural entity has enough mass to block lights and cast a shadow, and when it moves, it displaces objects and makes a racket. The boogeyman’s stealthy when it wants to be but can also choose to make its presence known as a way of further terrorizing its victims.
Early scenes show Sadie at school trying to adjust to being the subject of gossip as the girl with the dead mom. And while The Boogeyman briefly delves into high school dynamics, the film works best when it concentrates on the battle of good against evil and scaring the hell out of the audience. When the action’s confined to the darkened hallways and bedrooms of the Harper house, it’s possible to embrace early childhood fears and believe once again in the existence of closet monsters.
GRADE: B-
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for terror, teen drug use, some strong language, and violent content
The final trailer for HBO’s controversial drama The Idol reveals more of the relationship between Lily-Rose Depp’s struggling pop star and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye as her new guru. The series divided audiences at its Cannes Film Festival premiere and currently sits at 27% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes.
HBO subscribers will be able to check it out for themselves on June 4, 2023. New episodes will premiere on Sundays at 9pm ET/PT.

Max, the new name of HBO Max as of May 23rd, will be adding a new food series with Zooey Deschanel, an animated series set in the world of Gremlins, and the rebirth of Clone High to its streaming lineup in June 2023. The Idol, starring The Weeknd and Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose, arrives on June 4th after dividing the crowd at Cannes, and the much-anticipated third season of Warrior kicks off on June 29th.
Max’s June lineup also includes new seasons of And Just Like That…, Painting with John, and The Righteous Gemstones. Theatrical releases making their way to the streaming service include Avatar: The Way of Water and Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

The second season of New York Homicide, a true-crime series exploring some of the horrific murders in NYC’s past, will premiere on June 10, 2023, at 9pm ET/PT on Oxygen. Retired NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert K. Boyce will be leading the show, providing expert analysis on many of the city’s most unsettling murders.
The new season will examine 20 cases, including the murder of a retired cop and what was initially assumed to be the accidental death of a banker.
Jordana Hochman, Sarah Howell, Brian DeCubellis, Alison Dammann, Diane Warshay, and Michele Warshay serve as executive producers on season two.

Millionaire banker and mother-of-two Shele Covlin had it all until she fatally slipped and fell in her Upper West Side bathtub. But days after her burial, information emerges, and the NYPD realizes this may be no accident.
Episode 2 – THE FIFTH AVENUE PENTHOUSE SLAYING – Premiering Saturday, June 17 at 9:00 pm ET/PT
Linda Stein was a realtor to the stars, selling luxury New York apartments to Steven Spielberg, Bruce Willis, and Bette Midler, among others. When Linda is found bludgeoned to death in her apartment, the murder immediately becomes front-page news. Her larger-than-life personality meant Linda made enemies as well as admirers. With limited evidence from the crime scene, only painstaking sleuthing can identify her killer.
Episode 3 – THE BROOKLYN MURDER RAMPAGE – Premiering Saturday, June 24 at 9:00pm ET/PT
When a retired cop is found shot to death on a subway train in Brooklyn, detectives soon discover that his death is linked to two other shootings in the previous thirteen hours. With the victims seemingly chosen at random, police worry that any New Yorker could become the next target. The pressure is on to track down the suspects before they strike again.
