‘Ozark’ Season 4 Episode 12 Recap: “Trouble the Water”

Netflix’s Ozark season four episode 12 begins with the Byrde kids having to deal with the aftermath of Marty’s attack on an annoying driver. Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) picks up Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) and after small talk about their not so normal teenage lives, they show up at the jail and bail Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney) out.

Back home, Wendy wants to talk about what happened. She seems to think that with Camila working with them they can keep an eye on her. Marty wonders how he’s supposed to funnel intel to the FBI about shipments with Camila taking over. Wendy reminds him he did it when Javi was in charge.

It’s hard to figure out what kind of game Wendy’s playing when she changes her tune and tells Marty she knows she isn’t easy to love and that they’re so close to getting out of there. If he wants to leave her when this is all over, she’ll understand.

Private investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg) sits down with Nathan (Richard Thomas) and admits he doesn’t believe they’ll ever find Ben. He shows Nathan a picture of the man who showed up at the restaurant where Wendy left Ben and explains he’s a triggerman for a Mexican drug cartel. He believes he was there for Ben.

Nathan can’t believe Ben would be mixed up with a drug cartel and Mel informs him that Wendy and Marty were investigated by the FBI for money laundering. Nathan doesn’t doubt this all leads back to Wendy’s actions. Mel offers to take it to the local authorities but Nathan wants some time to think.

Ruth (Julia Garner) and Rachel (Jordana Spiro) follow Jonah’s suggestion and meet with Charles Wilkes (Darren Goldstein). He’s all in when he hears what Ruth has planned will harm Wendy Byrde. He’s not only willing to help Ruth but also volunteers to sell her his stake in the casino.

Charles suggests the easiest way is to put everything in Rachel’s name and sell it all to her. Rachel wants to know about the hard way and Charles asks Ruth if her prior offenses were when she was a juvenile. She confirms they were and Charles thinks he has a judge who could expunge her record. She’ll just have to donate to some of the judge’s causes. Rachel pushes her to try and Ruth agrees. Charles will set up the meeting but warns her she needs to be polite.

Nathan finishes up a bible study group by the pool of the Lazy-O Motel and then speaks to his grandkids. He confesses he’s giving up the search for Ben because he believes they won’t ever find him. They don’t say anything and he wonders if they’re surprised by his decision. They still don’t answer and Nathan reveals that when he leaves he wants them to go with him. Nathan admits he hasn’t been around the past couple of years but wants to change that. He fears they’re in danger and thinks they believe that as well.

Nathan suggests they take some time to think about it since it’s a big decision.

Ruth is on her best behavior when she meets with Judge Mayhew. The judge is aware Ruth’s family has been raising hell all over Missouri and she wonders if Ruth can change. Ruth insists she gave up crime when her dad died. She’s managed to make something of herself and she’s even managed a casino. She owns a motel and came into some money when her cousin passed away.

Judge Mayhew informs Ruth she’ll be combing through everything and will do a drop-in visit to her home.

Nathan shocks his daughter when he shows up with a petition for Charlotte and Jonah to live with him. He demands Wendy read and sign it, and in response, she tries to shut the door in his face. He reveals they want to come with him and they’re not safe with her. Since she’s refusing to sign, Nathan will see her in Family Court in three days.

Wendy warns her dad he shouldn’t take her to court but Nathan doesn’t back down. He’s got his investigator ready to testify against her and she knows what he has on her. She slams the door and then realizes Marty’s standing there and heard the whole thing.

Marty and Wendy question Charlotte and she admits they did tell Nathan they’ll go with him. When Marty asks if she wants to go, Charlotte doesn’t exactly say either yes or no. She believes her grandpa isn’t just going to go away and she can’t protect her parents if she doesn’t go with him. Wendy tells her not to worry about grandpa.

Marty and Wendy go over this new development and Wendy’s adamant she’s not letting her dad take the kids. Marty understands but believes Nathan’s playing a game of chicken. They both realize they can’t let PI Mel testify in court. Wendy doesn’t hesitate and says, “We just need to make sure that Mel never makes it to court.”

Deputy Wycoff (Brad Carter) shows up at Ruth’s place to let her know they arrested someone for Wyatt’s murder. The man under arrest is someone who worked on and off for Darlene in her fields. He shows her Wyatt’s guitar case and explains the guy pawned it two days before the murders, along with a couple of pieces of Darlene’s jewelry. He suspects Darlene confronted the guy and he killed them.

Ruth wonders why Wycoff’s being nice to her all of a sudden and he apologizes for getting off on the wrong foot. Ruth didn’t just fall off the turnip truck and connects his new attitude to the fact she came into some money.

Marty and Wendy hit up Senator Schafer (Bruce Davison) with a request to get Mel reinstated on the police force. Schafer asks when they need this to happen and Wendy explains it has to be done by the end of the day. He laughs and asks if he should be worried, warning their money can only go so far. Marty bites and asks what he needs. Schafer brings up his grandson’s voting machines. (In season three Schafer’s grandson made voting machines that altered the vote count).

Wendy attempts to turn him down but Schafer insists her “friends” in Wisconsin and Michigan could really help them out and get them in place before the next cycle. However, she has to choose between getting Navarro off the SDN list or Mel back on as a detective.

Wendy calls up Jim (Damian Young) to get his advice. It’s not good. She’s going to need four or five new faces and someone to fill Schafer’s board seat. She instructs Jim to do what he must do to make it happen.

Marty and Wendy meet with a man from the Chicago police department and ask for Mel to be reinstated as a detective, offering a “donation” to the police department in return. The man’s not willing to settle for just a donation to the department. He describes always wanting to cross Lake Michigan to Wisconsin on a boat. The only problem is that he doesn’t own a boat.

Ruth’s working out her issues by shooting up a trailer with a shotgun when Rachel shows up. Ruth explains the cops arrested someone for Wyatt’s murder so now either an innocent man sits in jail for the rest of his life or she’ll go to jail for the rest of hers if she comes forward admitting she knows who killed them. A judge won’t be able to expunge that from her record.

Ruth admits she doesn’t know what to do. Rachel says not to take her advice because she’s messed up every major decision in her life.

Ruth wakes up the following morning to discover Judge Mayhew outside her trailer. Judge Mayhew looked at her record and discovered every time Ruth got arrested she was with a family member. Mayhew wonders if Ruth was led astray. Ruth claims she did that all by herself. Ruth promises that if she cleans up her record, she will stay out of trouble.

Marty and Wendy deliver the good news to Mel that he’s been reinstated. Wendy points out they went out on a serious limb for him (even though Mel never asked for it). Mel isn’t stupid and knows why they did this, and it certainly isn’t out of the kindness of their hearts. He wonders what they promised the man they spoke with – a car or a boat? Clearly, he knows the man well. Marty doesn’t answer that particular question. Instead, he tells Mel he can be a real good cop again while Wendy tries to assure Mel he’s wrong about them.

Mel hops on the phone with his sponsor to talk about his dilemma. The man asks how bad the Byrdes could possibly be and Mel gives them a 9.5 on the evil scale. His sponsor confesses he’d like to tell him to take the high road but he also knows Mel’s been wanting his old job back for four years.

Ozark Season 4 Episode 12 Recap

Ruth gives Jonah Ben’s ashes that she’s kept in the weird goat cookie jar. She thought he’d want them since he’s moving out of state and she confirms she’ll be at their court hearing the following day. She asks Jonah if he wants to hear something crazy and then tells him she no longer has a criminal record.

They walk off and leave Ben’s ashes on the counter in the front office of the Lazy-O.

Camila (Veronica Falcon) is already visiting her brother, Omar (Felix Solis), when Marty and Wendy arrive at the prison. Navarro asks for an update on the SDN list and Wendy says it’s in motion. Camila basically calls Wendy a liar by revealing she asked her lawyer about it and a motion hasn’t been filed.

Navarro requests they launder more money through the casino. Camila explains they want to expand their business which means the purchase of additional land, so they need to launder more money. She also needs money to spread across their lieutenants in order to keep them calm and happy.

Navarro wants off the SDN list within days.

Marty isn’t happy because this is all Wendy’s fault. He orders her to speak with Jim and get Navarro off that list so they can tell him about his sister. Marty realizes Camila wants more money to bribe the lieutenants to pay for their loyalty to her.

Wendy isn’t used to not getting what she wants and screams a curse word at the top of her lungs before getting in the car to call Schafer. She agrees to give him what he needs in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Ruth speaks with the man who was arrested for killing Wyatt and asks why he stole Wyatt’s guitar. He wants to know why she really came there and Ruth claims she just wanted to lay eyes on him.

Mel turns to Maya (Jessica Frances Dukes) for help in deciding what to do. She thinks if he returns to the force and doesn’t pursue the Byrdes, he’ll hate himself because she’s been there before.

After speaking with Mel, Maya calls Marty and wonders what is it with him and Wendy that they have to mess up people’s lives. They figure out she’s talking about Mel and ask if he’s going back to Chicago. Maya says he’s still weighing his options.

The Byrdes appear in court for the custody case and Nathan’s key witness, Mel, hasn’t shown up. Nathan informs the judge Mel isn’t picking up his phone. Wendy just sits there with a smug look on her face, assuming they’re going to win.

As Mel’s checking out of the Lazy-O he spots the goat cookie jar which he recognizes as belonging to Ruth. Will he figure out Ben’s ashes are inside?!

Wendy thinks they’ve won but the judge brings up their recent arrest. The judge also notes Jonah is currently living in a motel. Charlotte is allowed to choose for herself since she’s almost 18. The judge also believes Jonah’s capable of deciding where to live, even though he’s only 15.

After leaving the courtroom Charlotte and Jonah inform their parents they want to go with their grandpa. Wendy reminds Charlotte she said she didn’t want to go, and Charlotte points out she never actually said that. Marty suggests they go home and talk about it. Jonah looks at Wendy and says, “All you ever do is talk and nothing changes.”

The kids correctly point out Marty just does everything Wendy tells him to. Marty tries to deny that but Charlotte jumps in and says, “Dad, you said so yourself.”

As Charlotte, Jonah, and Marty continue to talk, Wendy approaches her dad and begs him to not take her kids. She literally gets down on her knees and begs. Nathan insists he’s trying to keep his grandkids safe. “Nobody is falling for this anymore. When I am done, they are gonna know exactly what you are, and they are never coming back to you,” snarls Nathan.

Wendy gets into the van and appears to be in a daze. She slams her head into the passenger window as season four episode 12 ends.

‘House of the Dragon’ Teaser Trailer and 9 New Character Posters

The official teaser trailer for House of the Dragon begins with Lord Corlys Velaryon (played by Steve Toussaint) asking, “What is this brief, mortal life if not the pursuit of legacy?” His question’s followed by a gorgeous dragon soaring over the city.

Additional characters are introduced including members of the Stark and Baratheon families as they pledge their loyalty to King Viserys and his named heir, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Snippets of other important players are shown and then the minute and a half teaser ends with Corlys Velaryon declaring, “History does not remember blood…it remembers names,” followed by a dragon breathing fire in Prince Daemon Targaryen’s direction.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and will premiere on Sunday, August 21, 2022. The first season consists of 10 episodes and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The story focuses on House Targaryen, with Paddy Considine playing King Viserys Targaryen and Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen.

House of the Dragon was created by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal. Martin serves as an executive producer along with Condal, Miguel Sapochnik, Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis, and Ron Schmidt. Condal writes and is co-showrunner with director Miguel Sapochnik. Hess is also a writer on season one, and Clare Kilner, Geeta V. Patel, and co-executive producer Greg Yaitanes direct first season episodes.

HBO’s House of the Dragon Character Descriptions:

  • Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy. But good men do not necessarily make for great kings.
  • Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, younger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne. A peerless warrior and a dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air…
  • Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.
  • Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king’s first-born child, she is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man.
  • Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Sea Snake.” Lord of House Velaryon, a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen. As “The Sea Snake,” the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros, Lord Corlys built his house into a powerful seat that is even richer than the Lannisters and that claims the largest navy in the world.
  • Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, a dragonrider and wife to Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Queen Who Never Was” was passed over as heir to the throne at the Great Council because the realm favored her cousin, Viserys, simply for being male.
  • Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, of Dornish descent, the common-born son of the steward to the Lord of Blackhaven. Cole has no claim to land or titles; all he has to his name is his honor and his preternatural skill with a sword.
  • Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, who came to Westeros with nothing, sold more times than she can recall. She could have wilted… but instead she rose to become the most trusted — and most unlikely — ally of Prince Daemon Targaryen, the heir to the throne.
  • Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower. The Hand of the King, Ser Otto loyally and faithfully serves both his king and his realm. As the Hand sees it, the greatest threat to the realm is the king’s brother, Daemon, and his position as heir to the throne.

ADDITIONAL HOUSE OF THE DRAGON CAST (in alphabetical order):

  • Milly Alcock as Young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. She’s the king’s first-born child, of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man.
  • Bethany Antonia as Baela Targaryen, eldest daughter of Laena Velaryon and rider of the young dragon Moondancer.
  • Phoebe Campbell as Rhaena Targaryen, second daughter of Lady Laena and sister to Baela.
  • Emily Carey as Young Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. Alicent was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.
  • Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, eldest son of Rhaenyra Targaryen.
  • Ryan Corr as Ser Harwin ‘Breakbones’ Strong. ‘Breakbones’, Harwin is said to be the strongest man in the Seven Kingdoms. Ser Harwin is the eldest son to Master of Laws Lyonel Strong and heir to Harrenhal.
  • Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Targaryen, first-born son of King Viserys.
  • Jefferson Hall as Tyland Lannister, a crafty and calculating politician, twin to Lord Jason Lannister.
  • Jefferson Hall as Lord Jason Lannister, the Lord of Casterly Rock and twin to Ser Tyland Lannister.
  • David Horovitch as Grand Maester Mellos, a voice of reason and trusted advisor to King Viserys.
  • Wil Johnson as Ser Vaemond Velaryon, younger brother to Coryls Velaryon and commander in the Velaryon navy.
  • John Macmillan as Ser Laenor Velaryon, son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen.
  • Graham McTavish as Ser Harrold Westerling, who has served in the Kingsguard since the days of King Jaehaerys; he is a paragon of chivalry and honor.
  • Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, second-born son of Viserys, nephew to Daemon, and half-brother to Rhaenyra.
  • Theo Nate as Ser Laenor Velaryon, son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen.

BTS Announce Anthology Album ‘Proof’ Will Arrive in June 2022

Rejoice BTS fans – the two-time Grammy-nominated group is back! On April 16, 2022, after the last concert of their Allegiant Stadium (in Las Vegas) run ended, the sold-out crowd remained standing and waited in anticipation of any news. Fortunately, they didn’t have to wait long. A black and white video appeared on the giant screens featuring a montage of all the music videos BTS has released in their soon-to-be nine-year career. At the very end of the video, the audience heard the members say, “We are bulletproof.” That was followed by the date June 10, 2022.

The news dropped yesterday at 12am in South Korea (8am PT/11am ET) that the global superstars will be releasing an anthology album titled Proof on June 10th. The anthology album celebrates BTS’ nine-year journey since the group debuted on June 13, 2013. In addition to celebrating the nine years they have been together, this new album opens a gateway for a new chapter – their 10th year as artists. As described by Big Hit Music, “The new album will include various tracks that present BTS’ thoughts on their past, present, and future.”

Proof will also include three new songs.

For those unfamiliar with anthology albums, not only can they include songs from past albums but also live songs from past concerts. Some anthology albums feature never-before-heard demos or even a recording session when a song was made. There are endless possibilities in store with Proof, and BTS’ Army has taken to social media to express their high level of anticipation and excitement.

BTS hasn’t released an album since November 20, 2020 and since that date they’ve released two singles that smashed records and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Butter” and “Permission to Dance” were released in May of 2021 and July 2021.

Hours after the news broke of the album’s name and confirmation it will be an anthology, Big Hit Music released a few more details about Proof. There will be two different versions of Proof. ‘Standard’ – the more expensive of the two options – will consist of 3-CDs, lyrics, “The Art of Proof,” poster, epilogue, photocard set, a random photocard, and more. ‘Compact’ will come with a booklet, CD plate, CD, one random photocard, and discovery guide. Full details are listed on the Weverse App.

While we anticipate the release of Proof, BTS is up for seven awards at this year’s Billboard Music Awards set to air on May 15th from Las Vegas, NV. BTS is nominated in the categories Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excludes US) Artist, Top Selling Song, (the group will be competing with themselves in this category with their songs “Butter” and “Permission to Dance”), Top Billboard Global (Excludes US) Song, and Top Rock Song “My Universe” for their collaboration with Coldplay.

The Equalizer will be sticking around for at least two more seasons. CBS just announced the popular drama starring Queen Latifah has been renewed for seasons three and four.

The gender-swapped reimagined version of the ’80s series premiered in February 2021. Season two, which followed in October 2021, ranks as the top scripted series on Sundays.

Season two airs on Sundays at 8pm ET/PT and has been averaging 9.46 million viewers.

The Equalizer continues to pack a powerful punch on Sunday nights, and we’re thrilled to have it back for two more seasons,” stated Thom Sherman, senior executive vice president of programming at CBS Entertainment. “The success of The Equalizer is due to the sum of its parts – an outstanding cast led by the superb Queen Latifah, plus the exceptional creative team that has continued to evolve their storytelling with a compelling mix of everyday justice, family dynamics and real-world issues that connect and resonate with audiences.”

In addition to Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, the series stars Lorraine Toussaint as Viola “Vi” Marsette, Tory Kittles as Detective Marcus Dante, Adam Goldberg as Harry Keshegian, Liza Lapira as Melody “Mel” Bayani, and Laya DeLeon Hayes as Delilah. The series is executive produced by Queen Latifah, Andrew Marlowe, Terri Edda Miller, John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Richard Lindheim (co-creator of the original Equalizer TV series), and Shakim Compere.

Executive producers Joseph C. Wilson and Adam Glass are season three’s co-showrunners.

The Equalizer plot, courtesy of CBS:

Queen Latifah stars as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn. McCall presents to most as an average single mom who is quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a trusted few, she is The Equalizer – an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who’s also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption.

Robyn’s clandestine work and her personal life collide when her smart and observant daughter, Delilah, and her aunt Vi, who lives with Robyn to help her balance life as a working mother, discover her secret career as a vigilante. While Robyn contends with uncertainty at home, she is joined in her pursuit of justice by Melody “Mel” Bayani, an edgy bar owner and sniper from Robyn’s past; and Harry Keshegian, a paranoid and brilliant white-hat hacker. As Robyn aids the oppressed and exploited, she sometimes works with Marcus Dante, an NYPD detective who once sought to uncover her identity, but now respects the need for Robyn’s type of justice even as he often questions her methods.

Review: ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez in DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS (Photo © Marvel Studios 2022)

After the sheer joy of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness feels like a second-rate carny ride. Sure, it’s sporadically fun, but in the end you wish you’d saved your money for a better attraction.

The plot’s surprisingly basic. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) wants to live in the alternate reality in which she’s still the mom of the two adorable boys from Disney+’s hugely entertaining WandaVision. To do so she must steal the multiverse-hopping powers of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez as Marvel’s first queer LatinX superhero).

Our Earth’s Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) gets pulled into the battle when America Chavez calls on another version of the cloak-wearing magic man for help. Over the course of two hours, Doctor Strange attempts to keep America out of Scarlet Witch’s grasp, while the rage-filled Scarlet Witch proves why she should never be allowed around children.

Much has been made of Sam Raimi’s return to costumed superheroes, and there are a few scenes in which the filmmaker recaptures some of his Spider-Man magic. However, those bursts of rekindled magic are few and far between. A few well-kept surprise cameos tease a better film buried somewhere beneath layers of CGI.

Even committed performances by Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen can’t nudge this overly long, frequently gory, unnecessarily dark, entry in the MCU to life. Olsen’s Wanda deserved better than this after WandaVision so brilliantly delved into the character’s heartbreak over the loss of Vision (played by Paul Bettany) and allowed Wanda to grow and evolve as she went through the grieving process. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness destroys the character growth that was established in WandaVision in one fell swoop.

Sam Raimi serves up a zombified Doctor Strange and other truly disturbing creatures for this disappointing addition to the MCU. To borrow from Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. The effects overshadow the characters and the plot isn’t all that impressive.

GRADE: C

MPAA Rating: PG-13 for frightening images, action, intense sequences of violence, and some language

Running Time: 2 hours 6 minutes

Release Date: May 6, 2022

Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Xochitl Gomez, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams

‘Ozark’ Season 4 Episode 11 Recap: “Pound of Flesh and Still Kickin'”

Ozark Season 4 Episode 11 Ruth Garner

Netflix’s Ozark season four episode 11 picks up with Marty (Jason Bateman) watching a woman clean up the blood of the man he had killed before going outside to play fetch with Navarro’s dog. (Something Navarro often did.) Marty seems to be fitting right in as the temporary head of a drug cartel.

He gets back to business and meets with the woman who was once Javi’s lawyer, asking if the trucks are still on standby in Chicago.

Javi’s mom, Camila (Veronica Falcón), requests Marty find a way to allow her to see her brother, Omar. Marty says he doesn’t think he can set that up but she insists. (Remember, she’s unaware her brother’s in a coma.) Marty placates her by saying he’ll see what he can do.

Wendy (Laura Linney) heads off to see Senator Randall Schafer (Bruce Davison) and it’s obvious he’s not happy when he screams, “So where’s the money, Wendy?!”

Schafer heard that Shaw Medical backed out and now political races are hanging in the balance with no money coming in. Wendy tries to assure him there was a “minor” situation with Shaw Medical. However, Schafer’s privy to some news Wendy’s unaware of. Mexican lawyers are backpedaling and want to keep Navarro on the SDN list. Wendy wants to know when this happened and he reveals it was the night before.

Ruth (Julia Garner) is on a plane and from the looks of it it’s the first time she’s ever been on one. She seems both excited and a little nervous. We’re in for a shock when it’s disclosed she hopped on a plane to visit Rachel (Jordana Spiro), one-time owner of the Blue Cat Lodge back in the Ozarks who had a troubled history with the Byrdes. (That seems to be a recurring theme with anyone who knows the Byrdes).

Ruth shows up unexpectedly at Rachel’s current place of business and is rude to a customer Rachel’s helping. After getting over the shock of seeing Ruth, Rachel learns Ruth’s there with a business proposal.

Marty finally makes it back to the Ozarks and has dinner with his family – minus Jonah. Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) asks how it was in Mexico and Marty describes it as better than the previous times he went there. Charlotte says Ruth called and wants to set up a meeting with them tomorrow. Apparently, it’s about the foundation and she hinted she’s willing to play ball. They agree to the meeting.

Marty changes the subject by asking Wendy how her meeting with Schafer went. She replies that it was tricky and informs Marty that someone in Mexico is lobbying OFAC to keep Navarro on the SDN list. By the look on Marty’s face, it appears he just figured out who it could be.

It’s confirmed in the next scene when he tells Wendy that Camila is the only one he told about getting Navarro off the SDN list. Plus, she’s close with Javi’s lawyer. It suddenly dawns on Marty that he killed an innocent man. Wendy tries to make him feel better by reminding him he was tasked with acting as Navarro and that’s what Navarro would have done. Therefore it wasn’t his fault the man was killed. With that logic no wonder she doesn’t have any trouble getting over the things she’s done.

Marty pays Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) a visit at the motel and finds him with Wendy’s dad, Nathan (Richard Thomas). Grandpa leaves to give them space and Jonah apologizes for not coming to dinner the previous evening, explaining he believes it’s better if he keeps his distance. Marty asks if he needs anything – like money or groceries – and offers Jonah a ride to school, but Jonah declines.

Before taking off, Marty tells his son he misses him and misses having him at the house. Jonah confesses he misses him as well.

Rachel sees the casino for the first time and is amazed. She and Ruth walk in and, of course, Wendy and Marty are shocked to see her. Marty greets her with a hug asking how she is and where she’s living. Wendy doesn’t care and isn’t into small talk so she interrupts them, wanting to get on with things. Ruth gets to the point and announces she wants to buy them out of the casino. If they sell it to her, they’ll get the money from Shaw for their foundation and she’ll get control of the Belle.

Wendy can only laugh in response but Marty immediately wants to know why she wants the casino. Ruth gives a nonchalant reply along the lines of why not? After all, she ran the place. Once Wendy gets control of herself, she points out Ruth has a criminal record and won’t be able to get a license. Ruth explains that’s what Rachel’s doing in town. They will be partners, but it will all be in Rachel’s name. Rachel points out that since it was Darlene’s land it feels right for it to be run by locals.

Marty tries to offer Ruth 10% and she turns that down but counters that she’s willing to do 85%. Wendy, with that smug smirk that seems to be a permanent fixture on her face, wants to know if Ruth offered Rachel money or drugs. Rachel informs them she’s sober. Wendy congratulates her in a condescending tone.

Wendy bets Ruth left a few things out of whatever she told Rachel to convince her to return. She wonders if Ruth told her the money she made came from selling Darlene’s heroin or if she told her she just killed a man who was head of a cartel and that the cartel’s probably after her now. She continues, suggesting this isn’t about business; it’s punishment because Ruth blames them for Wyatt and Ben’s death – and rightfully so.

Wendy claims she just wants Rachel to know what she’s getting herself into. With that, she leaves and Marty trails behind her like he always does.

Marty tries to get Wendy to reconsider Ruth’s offer since they need money for their foundation. Wendy won’t bend but instead uses her favorite methods…threats and blackmail…to get her point across. She reminds Marty that Clare promised Javi’s mother stock in Shaw Medical, and she wants to use that to get Clare and Shaw Medical back to donating money to their foundation. Marty thinks Camila won’t be alive long when Navarro finds out his sister tried to him killed. Wendy says the truth can wait; they can give Camila up to Omar anytime.

Marty wants to know what makes her think Camila won’t go after Navarro again. He suggests, again, that they accept Ruth’s offer. Wendy, the pants-wearer in the relationship, tells him no and walks away.

Rachel’s clearly upset that Ruth didn’t tell her everything and that she made it seem like the Byrdes already had their bags packed for Chicago. “It’s not what you think,” says Ruth, and Rachel suggests she’s been spending too much time with Marty.

“You have no idea the hole I had to pull myself out of and now you are leading me straight back into quicksand,” says Rachel. Rachel pulls out of being involved in this business venture.

Ruth returns home to find PI Mel (Adam Rothenberg) waiting for her. He informs her he’s working the same case but with a new boss (Nathan). Ruth gives him just five minutes to get his questioning done and Mel shows her proof that Ben did not leave on his own. He goes over everything Ben and Wendy did on their road trip, ending with the fact that the two of them went into a restaurant together and only one of them left.

He assumes the Byrdes have been good to her and that she might have even helped them out of some tight spots. Mel asks if she helped Wendy out with this and Ruth says Ben wasn’t caught up in anything. Mel thinks maybe Wendy’s hiding Ben. Ruth doesn’t have to answer because Jonah suddenly shows up.

Ruth asks Jonah to wait outside and tells Mel, “All I know is Ben picked up my calls, then one day he stopped.”

Agent Hannah Clay (Tess Malis Kincaid) calls Marty and lets him know Navarro is awake and is asking for him. Marty confirms he can be in Chicago the next day and Clay requests a meeting to debrief him. She asks about the timing of the next drop and he reminds her he sent over all the details already.

Clay wants to know how Navarro’s lieutenant responded to Marty stepping in and he explains it went well. She suggests if Navarro doesn’t make a full recovery maybe they can make this a permanent position for Marty. Marty assures her Navarro will make a full recovery and be able to take charge again.

Marty lets Wendy know Omar’s awake and wants to see him. He strongly believes they need to tell Navarro about his sister trying to have him killed. Master manipulator Wendy plays “the man is barely conscious, give him time to recover” card in response.

Marty and Navarro (Felix Solis) meet, and Omar’s anxious to know how his family and business are doing. Marty confirms his men are falling in line and Navarro believes that’s a good thing, saying, “It’s not an easy job to be me.”

Navarro asks how his sister took the news and Marty, letting Wendy be in control yet again, only says she took it well. Marty changes the subject to Cabrera, admitting they had a problem with him and it’s been handled. Omar orders Marty to increase the amount of money they’re laundering through the casino because the other men need to be rewarded for their loyalty. He asks Marty if he hesitated when he found out that it was Cabrera who betrayed him. Marty confirms he didn’t.

Once the meeting’s concluded, Marty comes home to discover Camila in his house sitting down with Wendy and drinking wine. Wendy explains she reached out to Camila and is going to take her to Chicago to meet Clare Shaw. Camila asks if Marty had any luck getting her to see her brother. He says no.

After Camila leaves, Wendy claims this is a good plan. (Of course she thinks that! She believes all of her plans are good plans). Marty disagrees and points out Camila will murder him when she learns what really happened to Javi. Wendy only cares about her deal with Clare. Marty reminds her she only made this deal so she didn’t have to take money from Ruth.

Nathan and Ruth have a talk and he reveals Mel thinks she knows more than what she’s let on. Ruth claims she doesn’t but adds that sometimes she wishes Ben never came to the Ozarks. She feels like it wasn’t a good fit for him. Nathan changes the subject and comments on noticing Wendy and Ruth arguing the day of the bake sale. He wonders if she hired Jonah to protect him from Wendy. Ruth explains she hired Jonah because he’s a smart kid and a good worker.

Rachel remained in town and goes to see Tuck, her close friend with Down syndrome who was employed at Blue Cat when she owned it. He informs her he no longer works there because people stopped coming in after the casino opened. He was let go and doesn’t have a job.

An angry Rachel calls Marty, upset because he broke his promise to look after Tuck. He makes the excuse that he’s been busy and that doesn’t sit well with Rachel.

Clare (Katrina Lenk) is surprised to find Wendy’s back in Chicago and tells her they’re no longer in business together. Wendy reminds her that she promised stock to Javi’s mom and she came all the way from Mexico to hear about it. Clare disagrees because Javi is dead.

“This is the sister of a cartel boss we’re talking about. Show some respect,” says Wendy.

Agent Clay informs Marty that the money truck heading to New Orleans was empty. She demands to know what’s going on and Marty takes the blame. He explains that having one of their trucks seized right after he took over wouldn’t look good and he would lose their trust. Marty assures her that she’ll get her money when it’s safe and he’ll make sure it’s double the amount.

Clare shows Camila what she can give her without raising eyebrows with her board. Camila believes it’s fair but wants to know about the other deal she made with Javi – the one where Clare agreed to use their product for the next five years and donate $150 million to the Byrde Foundation. Clare mistakenly believes that since it was never in writing, the deal’s off. Camila thinks if her son, Javi, told her then Clare in fact agreed to it and must uphold the deal. Clare has no choice but to do so.

Rachel rethinks her decision to not be involved in the casino after her angry call with Marty. She asks Ruth if she really killed a drug lord and if she’s done dealing Darlene’s heroin. Ruth answers and Rachel cuts to the chase, asking why she’s doing all this. “Either I do all this or I go back in that trailer and I never come back out,” says Ruth.

After Rachel agrees to the deal she has a thought. Darlene had a stake in the casino and Wyatt married Darlene. Did Wyatt have a will? Ruth seriously doubts he did. Rachel suggests Ruth speak with a lawyer because she might not need the Byrdes after all.

Wendy delivers the good news to Marty about Clare being back on board. He could care less because they have bigger problems. He explains the last seizure was a fake and that Camila’s trying to flush them out. He gave Javi’s lawyer the order to move those trucks full and then right after that he saw Camila and the lawyer talking. Marty needs to tell Navarro the truth but Wendy insists they can’t. She already promised Camila she would take her to see Navarro.

Marty’s about to ask Wendy what’s wrong with her (a question we all would like answered) but their conversation’s interrupted when they notice Camila’s standing nearby.

Ruth and Rachel learn from a lawyer that when Ruth took legal guardianship of Wyatt that meant she became the heir of his belongings when he died. The lawyer believes Ruth owns half if not all of the casino. However, getting her name on a casino license is tricky.

Ruth and Rachel seek out Jonah to learn who his parents were rubbing elbows with when they were lobbying to get a license. He supplies them with the name Charles Wilkes. They want to know how to get invited to his house and Jonah reveals they need to say the meeting is for “Mike Fleming.”

Wendy and Marty are having a rough time of it but even returning home doesn’t give them a reprieve from their troubles. Nathan and Mel are there to talk about Ben and this time they know facts Wendy kept to herself. Wendy attempts to lie about the last time she saw Ben but Mel has photos from cameras showing her with Ben. She flicks the photos away like a child and asks to speak to her father alone.

Wendy claims she and Ben got into a fight and she left him. She also claims Ben is on the run and doesn’t want to be found. They argue back and forth and Wendy accuses her dad of driving her out of the house. “Well, you’re a lot less easy to love,” says Nathan.

Marty lies to Charlotte and tells her everything in Chicago went fine. She correctly points out that he doesn’t seem fine and then guesses her mom’s probably the cause. Marty initially says Wendy’s just doing what she can to help the family, but then finally admits Wendy always wants to be in the driver’s seat. That’s usually okay with him but now she’s driving them right off a cliff. Once the floodgates are open and the truth spills out, Marty reveals everything and says that no matter what Wendy is always mad at him. Charlotte suggests maybe they should go see the marriage counselor again.

Nathan returns to his hotel room and lets his girlfriend know he needs to be alone. He begins to drink.

Mel fills Maya (Jessica Frances Dukes) in on new developments and says the guy he saw on one of the surveillance cameras when Ben was last seen was just in the Byrdes’ driveway. Maya confirms that the man works for the cartel. She knows that because he once put a bag over her head and drove her to a private airfield. Maya gives Mel the okay to keep going with the investigation.

Wendy and Marty take Camila to see Navarro and it seems like a happy family reunion until Wendy steps in and drops a bombshell that Marty certainly doesn’t see coming. She asks Navarro if his sister can take over for Marty in Mexico since Camila can move freely and she knows the business. Marty, as usual, goes along with the suggestion while in Omar’s presence.

On the way home he and Wendy get stuck in traffic and Wendy uses the opportunity to discuss why what she did was the smart thing to do. She claims she did it for Marty so he wouldn’t have to go to Mexico again. Marty doesn’t want to hear it and turns the music up in the van. Another driver honks at them and flips Marty off and…finally…Marty has had enough. He gets out of the car and yells at the other driver and then punches him. A brief scuffle follows and Marty seems to lose all control, punching the guy repeatedly until he’s pulled away.

Season four episode 11 ends with Marty walking away from the scene.

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ New Trailer Arrives in Celebration of Star Wars Day

Disney+ is helping to celebrate Star Wars Day with the release of a new minute and a half trailer, poster, and photos from Obi-Wan Kenobi. The trailer begins with a voice-over by Obi-Wan (once again played by Ewan McGregor) warning that “they” are coming and that it’s important to stay hidden “or we will not survive.”

The new trailer provides a much better look at the sets and teases more of the series’ tone than the previous video. There’s even a snippet of a scene of Obi-Wan being warned he can’t escape “him” right before that iconic breathing sound announces Darth Vader’s appearance.

The cast of the limited series includes Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Darth Vader. Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie also star.

Obi-Wan Kenobi debuts on Disney+ on Friday, May 27, 2022 with the release of the first two episodes. Additional episodes arrive on Wednesdays, with the six-episode season wrapping up on June 22.

Deborah Chow directed and serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.

Hayden Christensen made his Star Wars debut in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and reprised his role in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). Ewan McGregor joined the iconic sci-fi franchise a bit earlier, debuting as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) before starring in Episode II and Episode III. Both were heard but not seen in 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.

Disney+’s official description:

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

‘Never Seen Again’ Docuseries Explores Missing Persons Cases

Paramount+’s upcoming docuseries Never Seen Again asks viewers to become actively involved in the search for missing individuals. Each episode of the series will spotlight a missing persons case, with viewers encouraged to contact the police and/or Crime Stoppers if they have any pertinent information.

Filmmaker/actor Tyler Perry became personally involved in the hunt for the truth surrounding the disappearance of 27-year-old Terrance Williams, a case spotlighted in the series premiere. Paramount+ released the following description of Williams’ case:

“A 27-year-old Black man named Terrance Williams disappeared in Naples, Fla. in 2004 after he was last seen getting into a Collier County sheriff’s patrol car. At first, the officer said he never met Williams, but under questioning from police investigators, he changed his story, saying the young man had car troubles and he simply gave him a ride to a gas station. When it comes to light that a second man, a young Mexican immigrant named Felipe Santos, disappeared after getting into the same officer’s car, both Williams’ desperate mother and Perry fear something far more sinister occurred. Some have even speculated that the sheriff went rogue and abandoned each man in the alligator-infested Everglades nearby.”

“I was shocked and outraged,” stated Perry. “I had to get involved. I immediately thought, ‘What can I do to help? What can I do to bring attention to this?’”

“They’re both disappearing with the same deputy after being put in the same deputy’s car,” Perry added. “If this is a coincidence, then he is the most unlucky man in the world, that this could actually be something that happened to him twice. I just don’t see how that is possible. And I think that anybody in law enforcement can look at this and go, ‘What happened to them?’”

Never Seen Again is making its first episode available May 7-10, 2022 for free on the CBS News app. The first season streams on Paramount+ beginning Tuesday, May 10th.

The documentary series is executive produced by Solly Granatstein, Tyler Perry (for the first two episodes), Shawn Efran, Azadeh de Leon, Jordan J. Mallari, Susan Zirinsky, and Terence Wrong. Adam Goldfried is the executive director. Never Seen Again is produced by Efran Films Canada for See It Now Studios.

Never Seen Again Documentary Series

Paramount+ released the following description of season one:

Each episode of Never Seen Again focuses on a single case that starts with a gut punch, as a loved one recounts the last time they saw their son, daughter, brother, sister, boyfriend or girlfriend before they vanished into thin air. These are real mysteries about real people who have disappeared from families and relationships, abandoning lives, leaving only theories in their wake: Where did they go? Why? Did they run away, or were they the victims of foul play?

Those left behind, heartbroken and shell-shocked, struggle to solve the puzzle. Viewers are encouraged to join the search, to help the families find closure by contacting police departments and Crime Stoppers.

Never Seen Again poses a crucial question: Someone out there knows something … Is it you?
