After two years without a studio audience (thanks to Covid-19), ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos is back to taping in front of a live crowd and offering double the normal prize money. The upcoming 33rd season of the longest-running primetime show in the network’s history will premiere on October 2, 2022 with Alfonso Ribeiro returning as host.

“We’re thrilled to welcome a live audience back to the studio after two years,” stated Vin Di Bona, Executive Producer and Director of America’s Funniest Home Videos. “We’re starting with a limited audience size of 50 people, and hope to be back to full audience capacity of 200, soon. The studio audience has always been an essential part of our set, and an integral part of the show, providing an effusive energy felt by our viewers, host and crew. Now, more than ever, people need the laughter AFV provides and with the doubling of the weekly prize money, we’re set for our biggest season yet.”

Season 33’s weekly grand prize winners will take home $20,000. In addition, the second and third-place finishers will receive $6,000 and $4,000, respectively. Weekly episode winners will be entered in the next round of competition for a shot at $100,000. All season 33 $100,000 winners will move on to compete for a grand prize vacation package.

According to ABC, America’s Funniest Home Videos has awarded more than $17 million in prize money over its past 32 seasons. They’ve also received over 2 million funny videos from viewers. Anyone who thinks they’ve shot something worthy of being featured on the show can submit their clip via www.afv.com.

Season 32’s grand prize winner was submitted by Carol Billardo from Millsboro, DE. The video, titled “Camera Confuses Canine,” featured her two dogs reacting to hearing their owner’s voice through a home security system.
