The CW’s The Originals season five episode 11 found Elijah initially declining to walk Freya down the aisle before coming to his senses, thanks to Klaus. When he wasn’t upsetting his sister by making her believe she would have to walk alone, Elijah was having flashbacks to five years ago in France.
Elijah didn’t realize at the time that a woman who introduced herself as Andrea was actually Hayley. They spent a few hours talking and then watched a couple who were obviously in love, dance. Elijah asked Hayley if she ever felt like she was just destined to be with someone. She said yes and added, “If we’re destined to meet each other in another life, just know I’ll be waiting for another dance.” (How incredibly heartbreaking!)
Elijah admitted to Klaus that when he saw Hayley in the farmhouse he recognized her but thought she was an agent of deception from the family he was fighting. While Kol officiates the wedding, Elijah thinks about the letter Andrea/Hayley wrote to him sharing how that one special day helped her get over a particularly rough period in her life. Hayley wrote, “If I had met my ex under different circumstances, without the legacy of pain that haunted him, things would’ve been different for us. My time with you helped to forgive him for the pain that he caused me and remember the best parts of our lives together. And though I can’t honestly say I’ll ever get over him entirely, I can finally look forward because of you. I’ll never forget my time in France. And if by some chance we do meet again in another life, I’m gonna hold you to that dance. Until then, be happy. And as you grow and find the parts of your life that fit you perfectly, make sure you never let them go.”
Meanwhile, Freya second guessed her decision to wed Keelin, worried that she wouldn’t be a good mother. Thankfully, Rebekah (Claire Holt) talked her down from that ledge. The episode also found Klaus turning to Davina for help with Hope only to learn the dark magic is eating away at his daughter from the inside and she has only a short time left to live.
Up next, season five episode 12 titled “The Tale of Two Wolves” airing on July 25, 2018. The episode was directed by Rudy Persico from a script by Carina Adly MacKenzie and Julie Plec.
The fifth and final season of The Originals stars Joseph Morgan as Klaus, Daniel Gillies as Elijah, Yusuf Gatewood as Vincent, Steven Krueger as Josh, Charles Michael Davis as Marcel, Riley Voelkel as Freya, Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley, Danielle Rose Russell as Hope, Nathaniel Buzolic as Kol, Candice King as Caroline, and Claire Holt as Rebekah.
“The Tale of Two Wolves” Plot: RETURN TO MYSTIC FALLS — With Hope (Russell) facing a life-threatening affliction and deteriorating quickly, Klaus (Morgan) travels to Mystic Falls to seek help from Caroline (guest star Candice King). Tasked with keeping Hope preoccupied in Mystic Falls, Elijah (Gillies) comes to a heartbreaking realization about his niece. Meanwhile, at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, a run-in with Alaric Saltzman (guest star Matthew Davis) throws a wrench into Klaus’ plan.
The Season 5 Plot: The final season of The Originals begins seven years after the core members of the Mikaelson family – Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol — each absorb a quarter of the Hollow’s dark energy and flee New Orleans in order to keep both their beloved city and young Hope safe. In the interim, Vincent and Josh preside over a Big Easy almost devoid of conflict, while Hayley and Freya watch Hope grow into a teenager, eventually opting to send her to the Salvatore School so that Caroline can keep an eye on her.
With Marcel following Rebekah out of town and Elijah stripped of his memory, the danger seems to be contained… until a sudden tragedy forces the siblings to return home. As the Mikaelsons return to New Orleans, bringing the pieces of a centuries old evil with them, it becomes clear that the closing chapter of this family saga will be as bloody and emotional as ever.
