‘The Flash’ Season 5 Episode 16 Recap and Review: “Failure is an Orphan”

“Dad, today is the day you stop Cicada,” says Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) to Barry (Grant Gustin) in season five episode 16 of The CW’s The Flash.

Episode 16 titled “Failure is an Orphan” begins in the year 2049 with Nora visiting Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh). She’s excited to tell him the meta-cure is ready and they should be able to stop Cicada (Chris Klein). Thawne’s worried, however, and he tells Nora he sees that the timeline is changing. He fears something is coming. Nora asks if she messed something up or did something wrong. Thawne replies, “No, you’ve done very well, little runner. But something big is coming.”

Back in present day, Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) walk in to find Nora taking charge of Team Flash. She’s super bossy and totally focused on double-checking every illegal action in Central City to try to find Cicada. Nora’s also driving poor Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) crazy.

“Congratulations, you’ve raised a menace,” says Cisco. Barry tells Nora her hard work is impressive but he’s sure Cicada will resurface. When he does they’ll talk him into taking the cure. Nora asks if he’s ready and knows what he’s going to say, and Barry reveals he has some thoughts. Sherloque and the rest of Team Flash encourage Barry to give it some thought. To get Nora out of Team Flash’s hair, Iris and Barry make up that there’s a meta alert at Jitters.

Cecille (Danielle Nicolet) visits Joe (Jesse L. Martin) at the CCPD and finds him going over the Cicada file. He shows her that Dr. Ambres (Lossen Chambers) treated Dwyer and Grace in the emergency room the night they were hit by debris from the satellite. She’s continued to treat Dwyer since then, which is strange. Cecille suggests they team up and question her together which takes Joe by surprise.

Over at Jitters, Nora discovers she has a drink named after her super alter-ego XS. As Barry, Iris, and Nora chat, Barry receives a real alert about a meta breaking into a lab at CCU. Nora and Barry race off.

The Flash and XS find the meta, Acid Master – yes, he can create and control acid with his bare hands – still in the lab. Barry tries to use a science trick to stop the use of his acid but it falls short and Acid Master’s able to escape. Nora sees an acid burn on the ground that matches the one on the front page photo of The Flash and Cicada’s final battle. She tells Barry today is the day he stops Cicada.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Nora tells Team Flash about the photo. Sherloque asks why she didn’t say anything about it before and Nora lies, saying so many things have been wrong at The Flash museum that she wasn’t sure the photo was correct. Barry heads off to think about how to talk Cicada into taking the cure, and Nora follows along to help.

Sherloque points out that once they stop Cicada, Nora can go back to her own time. This upsets Iris who wants to spend time with Nora and isn’t ready to say goodbye.

Joe and Cecille question Dr. Ambres at the hospital. Cecille can read her mind and keeps giving little signals to Joe which throws him off his game while asking the doctor questions. Joe decides to end the questioning and excuses himself and Cecille. Cecille, who is not happy about how Joe handled the interrogation, gets even more upset when Joe puts his foot in his mouth and tells her he’s not used to working with her and using her powers on cases.

Cicada chases a meta who appears to be Acid Master down an alley. Just as he thinks he has the meta right where he wants him…surprise, it’s Killer Frost posing as Acid Master. Seems Team Flash was able to track down Acid Master and lock him away safely in the pipeline.

Frost cold blasts Cicada’s dagger and exits with a smirk on her face through a breach. The Flash approaches Cicada explaining they have a meta-cure and they want him to take it. Cicada growls, “Why would I do that?” and Barry says to change his legacy so he won’t be remembered as a murdering monster. “I don’t give a damn about my legacy,” says Cicada as he power punches The Flash and knocks him out. Cicada retrieves his dagger and walks over to kill The Flash when he gets cold blasted by Killer Frost who has breached in to save Barry. Cicada flies away.

Barry goes to his CCPD lab to do some more investigating on Cicada, looking for anything new he’s missed. Caitlin and Cisco keep watch for Cicada on the satellites while Nora tries to put together a “best of” speech for Barry to use to convince Cicada to take the cure. Iris suggests to Nora that she let Barry handle it and that they go to the roof of Jitters to try to unwind. Nora gets frustrated and asks why she doesn’t want her to help Barry stop Cicada. Iris finally admits that she’s not ready for Nora to go back to the future. Iris then tells Nora she’s right and she should help Barry.

Joe finds Barry in his lab and asks why he’s there so late. Barry explains what happened with Cicada and Joe tells Barry he tried to talk Cicada into taking the cure by being The Flash and that he needs to be more himself, more Barry Allen, to reach Cicada. Joe mentions to Barry what happened between him and Cecille, and Barry suggests Joe embrace the differences in how Cecille does things and together they’ll make a great team. Joe agrees.

Joe apologizes to Cecille and asks her to reteam with him in interrogating Dr. Ambres. She agrees and the doctor reveals her fiancé was killed by a meta and that’s why she hates them. Joe and Cecille ask her to help them set up a meet with Dwyer. They reveal they have a cure that can save both him and Grace. Dr. Ambres reluctantly agrees.

Joe informs Barry he learned something else: it turns out Grace is now a metahuman.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Caitlin, Cisco, and Sherloque argue about the best way to trap Cicada long enough to get him to take the cure. Barry stops them and admits that while he loves their enthusiasm, he thinks he knows how to handle it this time.

Nora finds a pouting Iris and apologizes for not being more sensitive. She admits the whole reason she time traveled in the first place was to spend time with her and Barry. (What?! Nora said in the voice-over at the end of the first episode this season she traveled back in time to meet her father and save him from disappearing.)

Team Flash get Dr. Ambres to set up the meet and when Cicada shows up expecting the doctor, he sees The Flash. The Flash tells Cicada that Grace is now a metahuman. Cicada doesn’t believe him, but The Flash explains it’s why Dr. Ambres helped them. She’s afraid Cicada will do the one thing he can’t come back from – kill Grace.

Cicada lunges at Barry but doesn’t stab him. “She didn’t choose to be a meta, but she is. Does that mean she deserves to die?” asks The Flash. “I would never hurt Grace,” answers Cicada.

The Flash tells Cicada the cure will heal him and Grace. Cicada asks why he should believe him, and The Flash takes off his mask and reveals himself to Cicada. “Because I’m a father, too. My daughter…I love her more than I ever thought possible. I would do anything to make the world a better place for her, and I think you would too,” says Barry.

Barry brings Cicada to S.T.A.R. Labs where Dr. Ambres and Caitlin put him under and administer the cure. It’s working, but then the lights go out all over. A hooded figure dressed just like Cicada enters and attacks. Sherloque tries to take the second Cicada on with punches but gets knocked across the room. He activates the alarm.

The Flash, Killer Frost, Vibe, Joe, and Iris all line up to face the new threat. (This is a great shot of what looks like an early Justice League moment.) This second Cicada seems to be more powerful and shoots energy blasts from its hands. Cicada #2 also has two daggers. The second Cicada pins The Flash against the wall with an energy blast and goes about knocking out Team Flash and destroying the computers in the room.

The second Cicada enters the medical bay and finds Dr. Ambres watching over a still unconscious Dwyer. Dr. Ambres begs for the hooded figure to stop but gets killed by the masked murderer. The second Cicada leaves with Dwyer.

Team Flash regroups, checking on each other to make sure everyone is okay. Caitlin tells them Dr. Ambres is dead. They all wonder who that hooded figure was, and Sherloque says it was someone worse than Cicada.

The last scene shows Dwyer unconscious and lying on his couch. The mystery hooded figure takes off her mask to reveal a now adult Grace who says to him, “I’ve missed you, Uncle.”

The Flash Season 5 Episode 16 Review:

Suspenseful and humorous, season five episode 16 titled “Failure is an Orphan” finally moves forward the Cicada storyline and introduces an even more powerful one, Dwyer’s grown-up niece. This may or may not be a good development.

To be honest, Cicada is by far the least interesting main villain Team Flash has gone up against since the series began. Iris was able to practically immobilize the big bad a few episodes ago by stabbing him with an ordinary pen in his wound. Yawn. The real hook and surprise this season is that The Reverse Flash, Thawne, has been mentoring Nora in the future and helping her try to save Barry from disappearing. It’s this storyline that’s now carrying season five and making it intriguing. Thawne always has an angle for himself…always. The introduction of Grace as a dangerous new Cicada only delays the storyline of Thawne and Nora. And worse yet, it may set up a showdown between Nora and Grace (daughter of The Flash vs. “daughter” of Cicada). Let’s hope not.

‘Roswell, New Mexico’ Season 1 Episode 8 Recap: “Barely Breathing”

Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 8

The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season one episode eight begins with Isobel (Lily Cowles) in the psych ward at the hospital wondering how to cope with the fact there’s something unpredictable and dangerous inside of her. Noah (Karan Oberoi) patiently waits in the hall outside her door…a door that’s marked with a warning that an anti-social person is inside.

Ann (Claudia Black) pays a visit to her son, Max (Nathan Dean Parsons), and they catch up like a normal mother and son. The subject turns to Isobel and Max lies and says a combination of pills and wine caused a psychotic break. Max asks about his family’s medical history, which apparently Ann never worried about because they never got sick. As kids, neither Max nor Isobel spoke when they were first adopted. She recalls they spent a good deal of time just observing people as if taking in the language and then suddenly began talking.

Max shows her the drawing with three circles and she says that when she visited the foster home, the other child had obsessively drawn that pattern all over the walls in a red marker. She feels sorry for that child and hopes he got the attention he needed.

Kyle (Michael Trevino) brings a cactus to Liz (Jeanine Mason) in her lab, reminding her they need to talk about Isobel. “The psych ward is not a hotel for the Real Housewives of New Mexico,” says Kyle, even if she’s an alien. Liz finally reveals Isobel killed Rosa. Kyle’s justifiably angry Liz didn’t tell him earlier, and then Liz does something which you know is going to come back and bite her in the butt. She shows him the serum that might strip Isobel of her powers. She still believes the aliens will be rendered powerless, if the serum works.

Liz still doesn’t plan on using the serum, but for some reason felt it necessary to show it to Kyle before locking it away again.

Kyle, of course, confronts Isobel and she admits to killing Rosa. He plunges the syringe with Liz’s serum into her chest.

Noah visits Isobel, promising his wife he won’t give up on her. He really just wants things to be normal between them. Isobel assures him she’ll talk to the doctor to see if there’s a treatment plan.

Continuing the day filled with dysfunctional family visits, Alex (Tyler Blackburn) visits his dad, Jesse, and wants to discuss his secret project. Jesse shrugs that off as a ridiculous topic, so Alex uses his cane to knock out his dad.

Over at Michael’s place, Maria asks Michael (Michael Vlamis) to fix her bar’s neon sign. He reluctantly agrees as Max arrives with the drawing of three circles. He informs Michael that Wyatt had scribbled it in the hospital after killing Grant. Since Michael drew it as a child, Max thinks it must have some significance. Michael’s shocked his brother is finally admitting they might have had lives elsewhere before their pods opened on Earth. Max admits he doesn’t talk about where they came from, but now he thinks Isobel’s blackouts might be an alien thing. The symbol might be connected to it.

Michael thinks either the 50-year period they were in the pods wiped out their memories or whoever placed them in the pods did. Their conversation’s interrupted when Max gets the feeling Isobel’s in trouble.

Over at the hospital, Isobel seems fine. Liz can’t believe Kyle injected her, yet she’s the one who showed him the secret serum in the first place. (What was her motivation if she didn’t want him to use it?) Kyle doesn’t understand why he did it, and Liz figures out Isobel used her power to make Kyle inject her.

Liz has an appointment and asks Kyle to text her if Isobel shows any reaction to the serum.

Meanwhile, Alex has his dad tied to a chair and is going through research files on his computer. Alex demands to know about Project Shepherd but Jesse claims it doesn’t exist. Alex reminds his dad he can hack into pretty much anything, so he might as well spill the beans.

Alex shows his dad the bizarre item he found at the Valenti cabin. He’s been stalking his dad since then, trying to figure out his dad’s secrets. Jesse claims he was just trying to protect his family, and Alex reminds him he sent him off to war at 17. He definitely wasn’t trying to protect him; he did it because he didn’t like that his son was gay.

Alex reveals his endgame now is to destroy what his dad loves. He’s hacked into his dad’s database and up pops a picture of Michael, identifying him as a terrorist. Jesse thinks Michael’s been targeting Alex for decades, and he wants his son to understand there have been years of unprovoked violence initiated by Michael and others. Alex believes his dad’s just using the operation to target people he hates.

Alex cuts his dad loose, demanding he leave town. He threats to tell the Feds about Project Shepherd if his dad ever returns. Alex is aware he’s been running the operation outside the law and that if he’s discovered, it would mean a dishonorable discharge and the end of his career.

Max and Michael arrive at the hospital and Isobel swears she was trying to do the right thing. She hopes she’ll be normal and will finally be able to feel like she can trust herself. Kyle returns, frustrated he has to babysit a homicidal alien. Isobel attempts to use her powers to get Kyle to remove his shirt. Unfortunately for viewers, her power isn’t working. Isobel believes she’s fixed and that the serum worked.

Michael charges out of the room and confronts Liz outside the hospital. He calls Liz Dr. Frankenstein, but she reminds him Isobel used the serum on herself. He claims this is the same as drowning witches or gay conversion therapy. He asks if she’d be okay with someone using her lab to make her less Mexican, and Liz is outraged. Isobel murdered Rosa so that comparison is unjust. Michael informs Liz that Max and Isobel have always had a connection, an actual warm feeling that they can sense one another. When Isobel injected herself, that connection went cold.

“If anything happens to Isobel because your serum left her vulnerable, you’re going to be getting revenge on the wrong person because Max didn’t take your sister from you. All he ever did was love you,” says Michael.

Up in her hospital room, Isobel’s feeling better and tells Noah there won’t be any more secrets. She’s in a great mood until all of a sudden she coughs and spits up blood. She passes out in Noah’s arms.

In the lab, Liz and Kyle discover something’s happening with Isobel’s blood sample that was used to test the serum. Her cells are rotting so fast that she’ll be dead by the day’s end.

Max tries to heal his sister but it’s not working. Isobel’s dying and she tells her brother it’s hopeless because she’s not injured, she’s sick. Max is weakened by the attempt at saving Isobel’s life, but he pleads with them to keep trying to help his sister. Kyle and Liz don’t have an answer, and Kyle confesses now’s the time he would normally suggest they call the patient’s family.

Max begs Liz to create an antidote for the serum. She runs off, saying there’s not enough time.

Liz has escaped the hospital for the serenity of the rooftop of the Crash Down Café where she’s drinking wine and listening to Jagged Little Pill. Michael follows her there, demanding to know why she’s not in her lab working on a cure. Liz explains this is her process for coming up with solutions – she channels her inner Rosa.

Liz figured out Michael’s extremely intelligent and that he must know some alien science. Michael, however, isn’t about to share anything with Liz who he distrusts equally as much as Max trusts. He thinks Liz would never try and save Isobel after learning about Rosa, and that she’s just using both Max and Kyle. He doesn’t blame her, but he can’t trust her.

Michael’s about to leave and is telling Liz he can’t let Max watch Isobel die alone when Liz grabs his arm. She says, “I can’t let him watch her die at all.”

They head to Michael’s place and he uses his powers to move his trailer. Underneath is a fallout shelter that holds everything he knows about where they came from. Liz can’t believe what she’s seeing which includes parts of the UFO and other technology. Shocked, Liz realizes Michael’s trying to rebuild his ship.

Michael’s in confession mode now that he’s let Liz in on his underground facility. He reveals Isobel used her mind control ability 10 years ago and that’s why Liz left town. Max was a wreck, so they decided to send Liz away before graduation, before Rosa’s funeral, without Max.

Michael admits Max would have told her the truth if they hadn’t sent her away. Liz believes she went of her own volition. She had planned to leave since she was a sophomore and Isobel didn’t force her out of town.

Michael shows Liz vials of a substance he extracted from their pods. It evaporates when it touches Earth’s air, but it kept them in stasis for 50 years inside the pod. Liz thinks it’s exactly what they need to cure Isobel. Liz isn’t sure there’s time to work out the formula, but Michael believes the two of them working together can figure it out.

Max is still at the hospital when his mom arrives. She has a robe and magazines for Isobel, but Max won’t let his mom see Isobel or even know what’s going on. Ann’s frustrated they’ve never let her really into their lives, and Max tries to reassure her they loved her and appreciated everything she and their dad did for them as children.

Noah’s with Isobel and he doesn’t understand what’s happening with his wife. Kyle tells him he needs to speak with Max if he wants to know what’s going on. Noah reminds Kyle he’s Isobel’s husband and deserves answers. Kyle remains close-lipped and Noah leaves the room, frustrated. He slams his fist into the glass above the sink in the bathroom.

Michael takes Liz to see the pods, believing if they can get Isobel into one they can work on the cure while she’s in stasis. They can’t figure out how to actually open a pod, and Liz sends Michael off to the hospital to retrieve Isobel so she’ll be there when they do find the solution to the pod problem.

After Michael leaves, Liz places her hand on the pod. It reacts to the silver in her bracelet.

Kyle sets up a nail polish remover drip for Isobel, hoping it will make her feel better. She wonders why he’s being so nice and he explains in a hospital it doesn’t matter what someone did before they came through the doors.

Max is at Isobel’s bedside, torn up by what’s happened to her. He’s angry she’ll be leaving him alone with Michael, and he confesses losing her will kill him. Michael arrives just then with news they can save her. Even though things could go wrong, Isobel wants to do whatever is necessary to live.

Michael arrives back at the pods with news Isobel went looking for Noah to tell him she’s going to rehab but can’t find him. She should be on her way now. Liz has better news: she melted down her jewelry and came up with a solution that will manipulate the pod’s membrane.

Max and Isobel arrive, and Michael helps his sister remain standing. Liz says it could take years to come up with the cure, but they will not stop until they find it. Max is worried Isobel’s memory will be wiped when she finally emerges from the pod, and Michael assures Isobel they’ll remind her who they are and what they mean to each other. They promise that to each other, and Isobel hands over her wedding ring to Max.

Liz helps Isobel out of her hospital gown and then coats her with the solution. She’s able to penetrate the exterior and enter the pod. They can see her inside, eyes closed and looking peaceful.

Liz and Max remain near the pod, and Liz tells him he needs to forgive his sister. “Missing her will hurt less if you aren’t angry,” says Liz. She also confesses she’s glad Isobel made her leave town because she got to see two oceans. “Besides, you and I weren’t meant to be together,” she adds before leaving Max with his sister. When he places his hand on the pod, the three-circle design briefly appears.

Jesse meets with Jenna Cameron (Riley Voelkel) one final time. He informs her he’s heading out of town but still expects her to be his eyes and ears. He also wants her to keep track of his son while he’s gone.

Michael delivers the fixed neon sign to Maria at the bar. She confesses her mother always knows her way home when she sees the sign. “Like a beacon,” comments Michael. He then pulls out the paper with the three-circle design and looks at it again.

Max makes it home and his mom has cooked dinner. He breaks down and cries as she comforts him.

Filming has just gotten underway on CBS All Access’ new series, Interrogation, from co-creators Anders Weidemann (30 Degrees in February) and John Mankiewicz (House of Cards, Bosch). The drama’s described as a true-crime series in which the audience will be drawn in as detectives.

Interrogation will release the first nine episodes at once, however binge-watchers will be able to decide what order to view each of the non-linear episodes. According to CBS All Access, each of the nine episodes will feature an interrogation. The series is set up so that viewers can select which interrogation to watch next as they follow clues they believe are the most important in determining guilt or innocence.

The cast of season one is led by Peter Sarsgaard (The Looming Tower), Kyle Gallner (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and David Strathairn (The Expanse). Weidemann and Mankiewicz executive produce along with Fabrik Entertainment’s Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate. Six of season one’s 10 episodes will be directed by Ernest Dickerson who’s also involved as an executive producer. In addition, Patrick Cady is attached to direct.

The Interrogation Plot:

The series is based on a true story that spanned more than 30 years, in which a young man (Gallner) was charged and convicted of brutally murdering his mother. Sarsgaard will play the lead detective on the case; Smit-McPhee will portray a troubled and homeless teen who meets Gallner’s character at a drug-rehabilitation center, where they became quick friends; and Strathairn will play the father whose settled, suburban life is blown to pieces when his 17-year-old son is charged and convicted of his wife’s murder. In addition, Frank Whaley will guest star as a seasoned detective who allows his ambitious partner (Sarsgaard) to take the lead on the murder case.

UFO Non-Fiction Limited Series Greenlit at History

History is dipping back into the world of alien visitors following the success of Project Blue Book with a new non-fiction limited series. Titled Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation, the new series delves into the Pentagon’s UFO program and will be executive produced by Tom DeLonge, co-founder and President of the To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science.

Steve Ascher, Kristy Sabat, Anthony Lappé, and Mike Stiller are also involved as executive producers.

“History is committed to creating informational, authentic programming that keeps our audience intrigued to learn more,” explained Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, History. “This is not a UFO hunting show, but a series that will hopefully provoke a cultural conversation about unexplained phenomena and allow our viewers to ultimately draw their own conclusions. Tom’s curiosity and passion for this subject matter, combined with his team, are the perfect partners to deliver this breakthrough series.”

“With this show, the real conversation can finally begin. I’m thankful to History for giving the To The Stars Academy team of world-class scientists, engineers and intelligence experts the opportunity to tell the story in a comprehensive and compelling way,” stated DeLonge. “I think everyone that watches the show will walk away with questions answered and a feeling of, ‘wow, I get it now.'”

Details on Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation, Courtesy of History:

“In December of 2017, The New York Times published a stunning front-page exposé about the Pentagon’s mysterious UFO program, the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Featuring an interview with former military intelligence official and Special Agent In-Charge, Luis Elizondo, who confirmed the existence of the hidden government program, the controversial story was the focus of worldwide attention. Previously run by Elizondo, AATIP was created to research and investigate Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) including numerous videos of reported encounters, three of which were released to a shocked public in 2017. Elizondo resigned after expressing to the government that these UAPs could pose a major threat to our national security and not enough was being done to deal with them or address our potential vulnerabilities.

Now, as a part of History’s groundbreaking new six-part, one-hour limited series Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation™, Elizondo is speaking out for the first time with Tom DeLonge, co-founder and President of To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science and Chris Mellon, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and Intelligence, to expose a series of startling encounters and embark on fascinating new investigations that will urge the public to ask questions and look for answers.

DeLonge, Elizondo, Mellon and a trustworthy, connected team of investigators that includes retired Program Director for Advanced Systems at Lockheed Martin’s Skunkworks and the Aerospace Division Director for To The Stars Academy, Steve Justice, renowned CIA researcher and quantum physicist, and Vice President of Science and Technology at To The Stars Academy, Hal Puthoff and retired senior intelligence service member of the Central Intelligence Agency and Vice President of Operations at To The Stars Academy, Jim Semivan, will break boundaries and perceived government taboo by disclosing information about efforts being made to change government policy surrounding these phenomena, as well as produce tangible evidence to build the most indisputable case for the existence and threat of UFOs ever assembled.

Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation will reveal newly authenticated evidence and footage, interviews from eyewitnesses and former military personnel who have never spoken out before and extensive breakthroughs in understanding the technology behind these unknown phenomena in our skies.”

Travel Channel’s reviving Ghost Bait featuring paranormal pioneer Bob Magill and empathic investigator Tina Storer. The reboot of the series will join the network’s primetime lineup on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT and again at 10:30pm.

The upcoming season will consist of 12 half-hour episodes featuring Magill and Storer. Indigo Films’ Magill, David M. Frank, and Keith Guinto are executive producing. Christine Shuler is executive producing for the Travel Channel.

“Bob and Tina are two of the most dedicated paranormal investigators out there, and the unique way they conduct their investigations will keep you on the edge of your seat. And fans can’t help but root for the haunting victims as they’re forced to face their worst fears,” stated Jane Latman, general manager, Travel Channel.

Details on Ghost Bait, Courtesy of Travel Channel:

“Using a shocking but effective method of isolation combined with sensory deprivation, the duo helps people overcome their fear of intense paranormal activity. After conducting their own paranormal investigation, Magill and Storer use their findings to elevate a client’s fear level and then use that terror as bait to draw out the entity and force a confrontation. By facing their worst fears head on, Magill and Storer believe the living can overpower the negative forces around them to reclaim their sense of peace and control.

In the premiere episode, Magill and Storer travel to the historic Brookdale Lodge in Santa Cruz, California, to investigate claims of an evil spirit bullying an employee named Agnes. The paranormal investigators discover the once famed hotel has a dark history filled with mysterious deaths and corruption. Agnes must overcome her deepest fears and challenge the oppressive entity plaguing her in order to continue her livelihood at the hotel.

Isolated in the pool room, an area known for frightening activity, Agnes confronts the entity – alone.

In the second episode of the night, Magill and Storer head to Monongahela, Pennsylvania, to investigate claims of paranormal activity terrorizing a young couple in their new home. During a chilling late-night investigation, the duo come face to face with a mysterious presence in the woods and capture a terrifying voice inside the house that repeats the phrase, ‘in a portal.’ As a last resort, homeowners, Jason and Nina, are forced to confront their fear of the evil demon in order to reclaim their house.”

The Season 1 Plot:

Magnum P.I. is a modern take on the classic series centering on Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. When Magnum needs back-up on a job, he turns to his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors, Theodore “TC” Calvin, a former Marine chopper pilot who runs Island Hoppers, a helicopter tour business, and Orville “Rick” Wright, a former Marine door-gunner-turned-impresario of Oahu’s coolest nightclub and the most connected man on the island. Suspicious of Magnum’s casual attitude and presence at his crime scenes, Detective Gordon Katsumoto finds that he and Magnum are more alike than either of them care to admit.

Aladdin’s Brand New Trailer Features “A Whole New World”

Disney just dropped a new full trailer for the live-action version of Aladdin and, fortunately, it’s a vast improvement over the film’s initial reveal. The new trailer shows off more of the Parkour-style action, more of the budding relationship between Aladdin and Jasmine, and more of Will Smith as the Genie who will not always be blue in the film. The two and a half minute trailer also features the film’s villain, Jafar, but only very briefly, as well as snippets from “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me.”

Disney also unveiled a colorful new poster for the 2019 theatrical release.

In addition to Will Smith, the cast includes Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, and Numan Acar as Hakim. Guy Ritchie directed and wrote the script with John August, based on Disney’s classic animated film.

Dan Lin (The LEGO Movie) and Jonathan Eirich (Deathnote) produced, with Marc Platt (La La Land) and Kevin De La Noy (The Dark Knight Rises) executive producing. Alan Menken, who won Oscars for the animated Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” and for the film’s score, wrote the score for the new version which will feature new recordings of the animated classic’s original songs he wrote with Oscar-winning lyricists Howard Ashman (Little Shop of Horrors) and Tim Rice (The Lion King). Menken teamed up with Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land) on the two new songs written specifically for the live-action film.

Disney will open Aladdin in theaters on May 24, 2019.

The Plot:

“A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, Aladdin is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.”
