The second official photo from Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming drama, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, reveals Margot Robbie in character as murdered actress Sharon Tate. The photo was released a little over a month from the unveiling of the first photo of Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in costume for Tarantino’s drama which is set in the 1960s.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Quentin Tarantino’s ninth movie and, as usual, he’s put together a cast of well known actors to tackle the ensemble project. In addition to Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio, the cast includes Al Pacino (The Pirates of Somalia), Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet), Luke Perry (Riverdale), Damian Lewis (Billions), Dakota Fanning (The Alienist), Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), Clifton Collins Jr (Westworld), Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire), Keith Jefferson (Django Unchained), Nicholas Hammond (The Rage in Placid Lake), and Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs).

Brad Pitt plays Cliff Booth and Leonardo DiCaprio is Rick Dalton. Al Pacino is Marvin Schwarzs and Dakota Fanning plays Manson family member, Squeaky Fromme. Damian Lewis is Steve McQueen and Emile Hirsch tackles the role of Jay Sebring, one of the Manson Family’s murder victims.

Tarantino wrote and directed Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He also produces with David Heyman and Shannon McIntosh. Georgia Kacandes is on board as an executive producer. Tarantino’s behind the scenes team includes production designer Barbara Ling, costume designer Nancy Haigh, and director of photography Robert Richardson.

Sony Pictures will be releasing the crime drama in theaters on August 9, 2019.

The Plot: Quentin Tarantino’s ninth feature film is a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.

Box Office Report: ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ Outperforms the Return of Winnie the Pooh

The combined forces of Ewan McGregor, Winnie the Pooh, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger weren’t enough to push Tom Cruise’s action-packed thriller Mission: Impossible – Fallout out of the top spot at the box office. The second weekend of the PG-13 action drama collected an additional $35 million, upping its domestic gross to $124 million since opening in theaters on July 27, 2018.

Disney’s Christopher Robin earned decent reviews from both critics and ticket buyers, but it didn’t quite live up to pre-release estimates over its opening weekend at the box office. The PG-rated family film is sitting at 68% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and picked up an A rating from moviegoers, according to Cinemascore.

Looking ahead to next weekend, Mission: Impossible – Fallout will be battling Warner Bros. Pictures’ gigantic shark film, The Meg starring Jason Statham and a massive CGI shark, for first place. Screen Gems is sending the horror film Slender Man directed by Sylvain White (The Losers, Stomp the Yard) into theaters on August 10th, and Focus Features has BlacKkKlansman from Spike Lee also set to challenge Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

LD will be getting a jump on the weekend by opening the romantic comedy Dog Days on Wednesday, August 8th.

Candice Bergen Interview: Murphy Brown Returns

Murphy Brown Candice Bergen and Cast

The Television Critics Association still has not seen the new Murphy Brown because they only just shot the first episode on Friday, August 3. Still, there’s enough excitement for the return of Murphy Brown for CBS to have a panel with Candice Bergen, creator Diane English, returning stars Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto and Grant Shaud, and new cast members Jake McDorman and Nik Dodani.

The panel revealed Avery Brown (McDorman) is working for the Wolf Network (a not so subtle dig at Fox News), and they’ve built the set of Murphy’s townhouse in New York to accommodate Bergen. After the panel, Bergen spoke with reporters further about what to expect in the new Murphy Brown.

What problems does Murphy have with new secretaries now?

Candice Bergen: “That’s in the next episode. Just hopeless, hopeless candidates who become her secretary and she can’t believe that it keeps being visited on her. Why does this happen to me? Hopeless alcoholics and drug addicts. We have a quite stellar person applying for a job in this episode you will see.”

You’re always so busy, where does your energy come from?

Candice Bergen: (Laughing) “First of all, I’m not busy but I like to stay a little busy. I think fear of death.”

Did you miss Murphy?

Candice Bergen: “She’s a great character to play and it’s just been endlessly moving being back at this again. I can’t even explain it or understand it myself.”

Do you think about how exhausting the work was?

Candice Bergen: “We’re only doing 13 episodes which is far different than doing 22 or 25. 13 you always have the end of the tunnel in your view. A whole season just breaks grown men.”

With who we have in the White House now, does that Dan Quayle beef seem quaint?

Candice Bergen: “Yeah. That’s a great question. Yeah, what we have in the White House, it’s made for comedy if it weren’t so terrifying and so, so sad and so humbling. To travel today as an American, really you just keep your head bent. I mean, you’re just ashamed. I am. Not everyone is. Clearly not enough people are ashamed.”

How do you view the change in news and television since Murphy Brown left?

Candice Bergen: “News now, thanks to our President, seems to be in constant turmoil. I think it’ll be sort of reassuring to the press to see Murphy sticking up for the press and sticking up to the President for the press and news gathering has changed, and the release of it. I would think you guys feel in constant flux.”

What went through your head when you first heard the words “enemy of the people?”

Candice Bergen: “I don’t think I can say it on this, but I just thought we’re screwed.”

How are you preparing for the reaction you may get from Trump?

Candice Bergen: “Other than getting armor and going in a silo? I don’t know what the reaction will be. I’m trying to brace myself.”

What is one of your proudest career achievements?

Candice Bergen: “Oh, I think this show was by far the most fun and the most satisfying and engaging of anything. I’ve been very fortunate to be in wonderful projects, but this show… The character of Murphy is just unique and rich and weird, greedy and funny. So, it’s really an honor to play her.”

Was it easy to step back into the role? Did it just come back naturally?

Candice Bergen: “Yes, it did. Once you get on the soundstage, I’m so focused and my focus is not the steadiest but I’m just so focused just to be mindful of things and just to learn my lines, but it’s a great kind of engagement. You just want to do it justice is really what I’m trying to say.”

Has Murphy slowed down at all?

Candice Bergen: “No.”

What was the moment on set that you felt home?

Candice Bergen: “It’s been so weird to have this show impeccably recreated on a soundstage 3,000 miles away from where we originally shot it. It’s been hard to absorb that but when I’m working with all the original cast, Grant, Faith, Joe, it’s always very moving. I love working with them and they’re all even better now as actors than they were then so that’s good.”

How does Avery working for the Fox News-like Wolf news affect their relationship?

Candice Bergen: “Murphy does not want him to join the Wolf Network for obvious reasons. He’s a wonderful actor and I love working with him. So, the relationship is usually good humored but Murphy’s always greedy and she always wants more than a mother should want of her share of the pie. Avery has adjusted to her and is remarkably generous of spirit with her because she’s far from an ideal mother in many ways.”

‘Supernatural’ Season 14 – Jensen Ackles on the Challenges of Playing Michael After 13 Years of Dean

The CW’s Supernatural season 13 ended with Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) making a deal with Michael who then reneged on his end of the bargain and took over Dean’s body. Season 14 will find the elder Winchester brother under Michael’s control and doing whatever he pleases.

The upcoming season of Supernatural will present Jensen Ackles with new challenges after more than a dozen years of playing Dean. During roundtable interviews at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con, Ackles talked about slipping into Michael and what’s in store for fans of the long-running series.

Jensen Ackles Supernatural Interview:

How much of a challenge was it to get into Michael after all this time playing Dean?

Jensen Ackles: “It was difficult. It wasn’t just difficult because I was playing a different character, the challenge was playing this different character in the environment that I’ve been playing Dean for the past 13 years. So, I’m looking around and it’s all the same faces…it’s the camera guys, it’s the sound guys, it’s the electricians, it’s the grips, it’s the this and the that, and it’s in the same sets designed by the same production designers, you know? And so usually when I step onto that sound stage and I see all those faces, I instantly kind of get transformed into Dean. It’s like hitting a button. It’s like, ‘Okay, Dean-mode.’ And to not do that – A) to not do that and B) to do something completely kind of opposite of that – it was tough.

It was difficult. But it was one of those challenges I gladly accepted. I’m like, ‘I’m going to take this as a challenge and I’m going to work hard and hopefully succeed.’”

You have to speak a different language and it seems like you pull it off in the clip that was screened during the panel. Can you talk about that from your perspective?

Jensen Ackles: “That was really hard. It was Arabic and it was an actual verse from the Qur’an and so you didn’t want to mess that up. I’m like, ‘Is ISIS going to come after me if I’m saying the wrong thing?’ So, they’d hired on an Arab speaking coach for me and he was great; Muhammad was great.” (Watch the video for Jensen’s explanation of how he learned to say specific words.)

“It was very nerve-wracking and by the way that was about half the scene that you saw. That was a very long scene. It continues and I continue talking for a long time. So, to throw that Arabic right in the middle of it, I was a little nervous with that. Also playing somebody completely different, I was sweating on that scene.”

Supernatural Season 14 Jensen Ackles

Are you missing Baby?

Jensen Ackles: “Yes. I’m missing my flannel and I’m missing Baby!”

We know that Sam, Mary, and Bobby are out there hunting for Dean. Is Michael concerned about them catching up or are they far away?

Jensen Ackles: “I don’t think Michael’s concerned about anybody.”

As an actor, how much did they really tell you about Michael’s plans and how much did you want to know?

Jensen Ackles: “I didn’t necessarily need to know about his plan. I just wanted to get more of a sense of how tonally they wanted him to be played. I had a very brief conversation with Andrew (Dabb). He gave me a couple of very small notes and basically was like, ‘Do what you do.’ (Laughing) And I’m like, ‘Oh, great, thanks. Thanks for nothing!’

And, yeah, I did it and actually I did get a phone call from Bob (Singer) after a couple of scenes were filmed and he had a couple of tonal notes for me which he said, he was like, ‘It’s kind of weird for me calling you and giving you notes on your performance.’ He’s like, ‘I normally don’t have to do that ever.’

I’m like, ‘Well, yeah, it’s because I’ve been playing the same guy for 13 years. If I haven’t figured that out by now, I think there’s a problem!’

So, he’s like, ‘It was nice. I was able to critique you from a different perspective.’

Bob, I always know that he’s watching my back and making sure that I’m not messing up. So, that was good. I’m happy that he still feels like he can call me and say, ‘Hey, listen, on this is was a little this. Or maybe you need to add a little bit more here or take away a little bit of this.’ I’m like, ‘Got it. Cool. Done.’ I don’t know that there’s a whole lot of people that would be on a show for this long and still take that kind of criticism, but I welcome it.”

Supernatural season 14 will premiere on October 11, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT.

‘Fargo’ Season 4 Casts Chris Rock in a Starring Role

Fargo Season 4 News

FX officially confirmed the critically acclaimed, award-winning dramatic series Fargo will return for a fourth season. Filming won’t get underway until 2019, however the network revealed Chris Rock has committed to a starring role in the limited series.

Fargo was created by Peabody, Golden Globe, and Emmy winner Noah Hawley. Hawley will once again write and executive produce the series which has won six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes, and eight Critics’ Choice Awards.

Commenting on his involvement in the series, four-time Emmy winner Chris Rock stated, “I’m a fan of Fargo and I can’t wait to work with Noah.”

In addition to announcing the casting of Chris Rock, FX provided details on the upcoming fourth season:

“In 1950, at the end of two great American migrations — that of Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, who came to the US at the turn of the last century and settled in northern cities like New York, Chicago — and African Americans who left the south in great numbers to escape Jim Crow and moved to those same cities — you saw a collision of outsiders, all fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African American. Together they control an alternate economy — that of exploitation, graft and drugs. This too is the history of America. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.

Chris Rock plays the head of one family, a man who — in order to prosper — has surrendered his oldest boy to his enemy, and who must in turn raise his son’s enemy as his own. It’s an uneasy peace, but profitable. And then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies. And everything changes. It’s a story of immigration and assimilation, and the things we do for money. And as always, a story of basically decent people who are probably in over their heads. You know, Fargo.”

A Look Back at Season 3: Set in 2010, the third installment of Fargo centers on “Emmit” and his slightly younger brother “Ray Stussy” (Ewan McGregor). Emmit, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, sees himself as an American success story, whereas Ray is more of a cautionary tale. Forever living in his more successful brother’s shadow, Ray is a balding and pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt – and he blames his brother. Their sibling rivalry follows a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters and cut-throat competitive bridge.

Carrie Coon stars as “Gloria Burgle,” the steady chief of the local police department. A newly divorced mother, Gloria is trying to understand the new world around her, where people connect more intimately with their phones than with the people around them. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Ray’s girlfriend, “Nikki Swango,” a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge. David Thewlis stars as “V.M. Varga,” a mysterious loner and true capitalist whose bosses plan to partner with Emmit, whether “The Parking Lot King” likes it or not.

‘Christopher Robin’ Movie Review: An Enjoyable Trip Back to the Hundred Acre Wood

“What to do, what to do, what to do?” wonders an adult Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) out loud to himself while sitting on a park bench. “What to do indeed?” replies Winnie the Pooh (voiced by Jim Cummings). “Pooh!” exclaims Robin “Christopher Robin,” answers back Pooh in the delightful Disney film, Christopher Robin.

As the film opens, a farewell party is being held for young Christopher Robin by Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Owl, Piglet, Eeyore, and his other friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Christopher is going away to boarding school and won’t be able to take his beloved friends. It’s time for Christopher to prepare to grow up. Near the end of the party, after all the others have fallen asleep from eating too much food, Christopher Robin and Pooh head off to sit on their favorite tree log and watch the sunset. Christopher promises Pooh he’ll never forget him, not even when he reaches a 100 years old.

Years later Christopher Robin, now all grown up, has a family of his own. Unfortunately, he barely sees them due to his responsibilities at work. When the weekend comes along, Christopher, who had promised to take his wife and daughter to their cottage in the country, is forced to stay behind and work over the weekend figuring out budget cuts.

With his family away at the cottage, Christopher takes a seat on a nearby park bench and stresses over his life. That’s when his old Pooh bear shows up looking for him. Christopher’s initially shocked by Pooh’s sudden re-entry into his life, but finally believes his old friend is really, truly there.

Christopher learns Pooh needs his help to find his friends who’ve gone missing. Christopher, although very busy with work, agrees to join Winnie the Pooh in the search. The lifelong friends travel from London back to the Hundred Acre Wood to find their friends – and perhaps Christopher’s memories and inner child, too.

Charming, funny, sweet, and adorable, Christopher Robin is a very entertaining film about finding the inner child inside your adult self and always putting family and friends first. Ewan McGregor is perfectly cast as the adult Christopher Robin who has become so overwhelmed by the demands of the adult world he has almost forgotten the simple joys of his childhood and his old play pals. McGregor’s interactions with Winnie the Pooh and the other classic characters, which are basically stuffed animals brought to life by puppeteers and a little CGI, is amazing. It’s McGregor’s performance and interactions with the iconic characters created by A.A. Milne that really makes the Pooh characters come alive on screen.

Jim Cummings is wonderful as the voice of Pooh and Tigger, making them sound just as they did in the original Disney animated film shorts. (Cummings has been voicing Pooh since the late 1980s.) Brad Garrett does a fantastic job of voicing Eeyore and adds a lot of humor to the film with his grumpy-sounding voice.

The production, costumes, and sets are stunning and bring to life both London in the late 1940s and Pooh’s home in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Heartwarming and impossible not to fall in love with, Christopher Robin is an extremely enjoyable film for the entire family and has important messages for both children and adults about the importance of play, always being yourself, and never losing your inner child.
